If you're into python, visit irc://irc.freenode.org #python-ng -- It's an empty channel that I decided to start up if people are interested in this sort of thing smiley
Programming / Re: Association Of Programmers In Nigeria by ack: 12:44am On Feb 28, 2009
I hoped to instigate this, starting with real-time chat on irc, where we could discuss our views , nobody seems to pay attention.
Programming / Re: Nigerian Programming Real-time Irc by ack: 12:40am On Feb 28, 2009
nitation, in response to your question "Why not use a custom made IRC chat Interface like MIRC Do you really need to go through some java applet programming protocols for some people that doesn't get the value"

1) I don't hope to make a chat client.
2) I said nothing about java.

Let me put it to you this way, a chat-room, made available for programmers from or living in nigeria, on irc.
Programming / Nigerian Programming Real-time Irc by ack: 1:58am On Feb 02, 2009
I want to start up a real-time chat interface, for nigerians which program. There isn't anything I like more than people that are into coding/unix that are from nigeria.

This chat interface would run on IRC, if people are interested in this, drop a line here, so I can get it started. I hope to have good responses back.
Webmasters / Nijacon 2009 - Abuja. by ack: 6:52pm On Jan 21, 2009
We're starting a conference up, which should be active sometime later this year, such things would promote cross-development on a plethora of topics amongst co-developers in the industry, or plain hobbyists.

Most of the talks which would be presented, at Nijacon this year aim to be centric to exploitation, on web platforms and others ,

More details are to follow, I haven't even begun a call for papers, or started up a talk I aim to present; being as it hasn't been done before, we may just do some things which have been disclosed in the past, like BGP hacks, software based encryption hacks, and all the goods that made alot of noise last year, just to get people to have a feel of what we hope to establish.

It's still in planning, but we hope to kick off around August. Only a few people have come together for the management of the event, but I'd like viewers to give me their feedback; If you don't reside in Abuja, hotel arrangements would be made prior to your arrival; We expect to have this take place at the British Council, or, alternatively at the Transcorp Hilton hotels.

It's the first in a series of many conferences aimed towards F/OSS software, exploitation and web dev centric mannerisms.

More details to follow, site should be up soon (nijacon.org).

The fee is 7-bay. You'll get a free Linux/BSD distribution set up for you (if we're out of them, we'll make sure to get them to you copied, or sent through the mail at a latter date, if you wish to distribute them yourself). Free beers and snacks are going to come available too. I want this to run through the day, until there's some sort of football match on, that we all watch, and discuss things through with. It should be a two/three day event

As I said earlier, its still in planning; It may just end up being a few old guys with laptops, drinking beers, and going home to bed before work the next morning, but we'll see how things map out.

Give me your responses.

What sort of advertisements?

Are you versed with web programming?

What sort of services do you hope to provide?
Programming / Re: Learning Software Engineering by ack: 5:16pm On Jan 20, 2009
ismailaewe: Wrong.

AAUN (www.aaun.edu.ng) teaches Java and VB in their computer related courses; There is also the University of Abuja, which does C/C++, I'm told.

remmyz: Why do you have to pay to learn how to write programs? There is documentation made freely available online.
Programming / Re: Cisco Gurus In The House Pls. by ack: 5:06pm On Jan 20, 2009
You may find www.cisco.com useful; The usual suspects for good documentation are the SYBEX series, however.

I think a lot of the cisco books are freely distributed, or atleast the guides. You really should just look at the blueprint, and study the material with respect to CCNA
Nairaland / General / Smf 1.0.12, Now Really. by ack: 5:04pm On Jan 20, 2009
Could the administrators of this site attempt to update or change their CMS ?

SMF is currently in 1.1.7; and there are a plethora of exploits for versions prior to it.

It isn't very difficult to update, or change; Do you need some help understanding how to extract the tarball, and make install?

All users are liable to compromise, kindly fix it, or I shall do it for you smiley
