In a post shared on his X handle, the presidential candidate of the Labour party in the 2023 presidential election said it is hard for him to understand some of the recent happenings in Nigeria with regard to expenditures made by the government. He made reference to the recent news about a budget provision of N15 billion for the construction of a new residence for the Vice President. According to Obi, it is both ‘’shocking and disheartening'' considering the many important challenges facing our nation.


The former Anambra state governor said that just recently in the Supplementary Budget, the sum of N2.5 billion was included for the renovation of the Vice President's residence in Abuja, which means that he already has a residence. A Nigerian nurse has reportedly been fired and deported from the UK after being reported for praying for a dying patient.

According to popular Twitter doctor Dr. Olufunmilayo, who shared the incident on social media, the nurse was found guilty of praying for a patient, which is deemed unacceptable in the UK health system.

He shared the story online to warn Nigerian health workers relocating to the UK against praying for patients to avoid facing a similar fate.

A mom-of-two has died from drinking too much water and her husband lays all the blame on the health facility.

Michelle Whitehead, a 45 year old woman, from England, was taken to Millbrook Mental Health Unit in Nottinghamshire on May 5, 2021, after suffering a mental breakdown, the BBC reported.

She died two days later after drinking water excessively and going into a coma, something the staff discovered too late, he claimed.

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Yemi Cardoso has stated that the apex bank will soon introduce a new set of foreign exchange laws and guidelines to tackle Naira depreciation and achieve exchange rate stability.

Cardoso who made the announcement while giving a keynote speech at the 2023 Annual Bankers Dinner of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), on Friday November 24, said they will also conduct a new recapitalisation exercise for the banking industry, by directing banks to increase their minimum capital base to a level sufficient to support the vision of a $1trillion economy.

The first Israeli hostages to be released from Gaza happened on Friday afternoon Tel Aviv and Hamas began a four-day truce after coming to a landmark agreement.

The deal, brokered by the state of Qatar, came into force today at 5am GMT - a day later than originally scheduled. Under the agreement, 13 Israeli hostages have now been released by the militant group and transferred to Egypt by the Red Cross.

In exchange, 39 Palestinian prisoners were freed this evening in exchange for the Israeli hostages. It is the first prolonged break in fighting since the devastating war began on October 7.

A further 12 Thai nationals taken hostage by Hamas have also been released in a deal mediated by Egypt . Israel is set to free a total of 150 Palestinians over the next four days as part of the deal.
