Well i'd rather advise that you should try Ubuntu instead of fedora core, as Ubuntu is more suited for beginners. It combines a whole lot of simplicity plus power.

I also use bank phb with skyemobile. It doesn't matter what bank you use, those application are simply from interswitch. Just add your card. Change the settings to gprs only and you're good to go

Am a linux user and mac, linux, they all share the unix structure. For the exe problem give wine a try www.winehq.org and download the mac version. Also for the isp issue all you need is parameters from them. I use celtel on linux, some friends use starcomms,reltel etc all they needed was the dialup no the username and password finished.
