Business / Yakubu The Pap Producer Factory Has A New Look by Adieza(m): 7:35pm On Sep 04, 2020
On 9th of August, I made a post on Twitter on my pap business and it went viral within 48 hours. I couldn't believe it myself when friends were telling me they saw me on different blogs. I was amazed.
I got a lot of encouragement as well as criticism on the post on making the place look more hygienic.
It wasn't easy putting places together up to that stage where I had to erect a room, buy containers and pay bills. I was keeping tab on all the comments.

Four days after the post, the Ekiti state Governor Dr. John Kayode Fayemi invited me over to his office in Ado, I got the invite via one of his aides. I thought it was a dream, boom it happened the second day, I had to leave the market early in order to catch up with the time I was given.
It did happen like a dream after the governor aide took us to meet His Excellency Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.
After the visit, I received supports in cash and kinds to support my business from friends, family members and strangers.
The visit

Mr. Todah Opeyemi also featured me in his Podcast, where I talked about my business life and several challenges.

"With the supports I got..." I was able to give the place a new look and acquire a grinding machine and a prime mover, all thanks to everyone that supported
To every young person reading this, don't be ever ashamed of what put food on your table, as long as it is legitimate. Not many would have thought, if any, that I would ever get to meet people of such calibres as the Governor through a pap producing business.

I'm still working on getting to the final stage which is to process and package the pap, and expand my market.
Without my mum, all these couldn't have happened. She set my foot on the path to entrepreneurship and self dependency .

I'm extremely proud of her, and I pray to God to grant her a very long life to reap the fruits of her labour.
I want to thank my siblings for their supports. I don't know what I can say about your great love and words of advise.

To my friends, bloggers, supporters I appreciate you all. I am extremely grateful to everyone that supported in their own unique ways.

Business / Gov Fayemi Meets 21 Year-old Student Who Sells Pap To Pay Tuition. by Adieza(m): 2:03pm On Aug 15, 2020
There is a reward in the ecclesiastical saying that “whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” and the affirmation of these words on Friday came to bear in the life of 21 year-old Yakubu Jimoh John, following his pap-selling story which broke out on social media and earned him a meet with the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode
Fayemi.

John, an indigene of Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, and resident in Ado-Ekiti had on August 9th, 2020 proudly posted his “hustle” on twitter, with two pictures of him getting his hands dirty to pay his bills.

He twitted: “My name is Jimoh John Yakubu, I live in Ado Ekiti and I’m 21 years old. This is my hustle, I’m 100 level student of NOUN, this is what I use to pay my bills and schools fees. I produce different varieties of pap. I’m a proud pap producer.”

The tweet went viral, garnering no fewer than 9,560 retweets and comments, and 25.1 thousand likes; and it eventually got the attention of Governor Fayemi.

John told Ebira Reporters that he was inspired to make the post after he saw a twitter user priding himself as a vegetable seller. He did not know his own would get him an invite from the Governor who said he saw it himself on twitter.

The Governor celebrated John’s strong entrepreneurial skills, stating that promising young people like him should be a role model to other young people.

“It is not so much what you sell in essence, but that you are independent minded, enterprising, looking for solutions and not waiting for people to help you, and you are not hanging around begging for money.

“Jimoh is an individual of promise and we will support him in his journey to become a better person for himself, family and society,” the Governor said.

He encouraged him to keep pushing on, thereby assuring him of his full supports towards the actualization of his dreams.

To John, his pap business story cannot be complete without a mention of his mother, Mrs Khadijat Yakubu who raised him and his siblings through the business, following their father’s demise 18 years ago.

“My success story is not complete without talking about my mum. The woman who took the sole responsibility of training 5 children from primary school up to higher level, 18 years after our father’s demise… the honour is for this great woman,” he shared in part of his dedication.

Politics / Governor Fayemi Meets Yakubu Jimoh John, The Pap Producer by Adieza(m): 10:25am On Aug 15, 2020
The story of Yakubu Jimoh John, is a inspiring one for me. The Ekiti born man makes pap making so the post went viral until the Governor of his state met with him yesterday to discuss with him and his elder brother.
In the Governor's remark saying:

The story of Jimoh Yakubu is that of an enterprising and promising individual who exemplifies the spirit of Ekiti. It was my pleasure to meet him, hear his story and ambition, and to pledge our support to his untiring commitment to work and excellence.

7-8 hours of grinding daily at N3,000 a month.

The truth is if this was a sane society, you will have cited this production in a cluster and power will be provided in bulk for you and others.

Well done on the initiative. You have done what others like me have failed to do.

Please try and scale up. That is what will guarantee growth that will last generations.

The electricity in my area is stable though.
I'm waiting for supports to go on next level.

My Hustle.

Talking about the word "entrepreneurship" is very big thing, not not as easy that you will type it out of your device. It comes with a lot of tasks and sacrifice.

Let me talk about Ogi(Pap) today. Pap is very common food in Africa, especially Nigeria. In many homes it's served as breakfast, due to that it's very easy to prepare.

Mum started it many years ago, but she does it in small quantity though. When I joined her in the business in 2017, there's already a huge bit of comfort, because we ground with an electric engine, which saves money (Fuel, Oil, servicing).
It is a kind of business, that you must have your markets, and it's lucrative. With little as N10,000-15,000. You can start the business.

Due to the large quantity we do produce, I spend roughly about 7-8 hours grinding.

.... about 1 hour to sieve. I own a grinding machine and it's an added advantage. After sieving off the chaff it can be recreated into cash, because of its widespread use in poultry and diary farming. A 100Kg bag goes for like 6-7,000 naira.

You soak the grains( maize and Guinea corn) in water for about 3-4 days to get the right texture for the grinding process.

If you're a youth and you're complaining of no work, you can take this up and keep yourself busy, if you can afford. My mum helps in selling after I have finished the production.

There's nothing too small to start, I'm looking forward in exporting pap one day, whereby I will have dehydrator and other necessary equipments.

It's never a thing of shame to hype your hustle, once it brings money and pays your bills.

Do NOUN graduates go for NYSC now?
I'm 21 and do you think it's fine for me to start my Bsc program there. But I'm involved in business, that's one major reason I'm opting for NOUN.

Nigeria Slay queens has made the world believe that Nigeria ladies are gold diggers, because of their inabilities to reason beyond their makeup kits and their parasitic mentality which make them believe slaying is a job because it pays their bills. They are the set off people who believe their responsibility as a woman is to wake up to meet their bills got paid by their man, boo/hubby as they name it.
