awash: Hello awash. It is great to hear from you. The threat you created has been a blessing to many. Thank you very much. I think i have already posted the required documents for PR. Please click on the posts or something. Sorry I’m not too good with computers. For the police report, you have to provide a police report that is not more than 90 days old at the time of submitting your PR application online (provided you are already in Brazil at the time of the online submission). The police report must be from your country of citizenship and any other country you have stayed in for 6 months or more in the last 5 years (not visited but stayed in for 6 months or more). You don’t have to submit any police clearance for Brazil no matter how long you have been there. This is because your application will be filled at the Policia Federal, which in turn does an automatic police clearance check on you for Brazil as part of the PR approval process. All police clearances must be legalised or Apostille and translated into Portuguese by a certified translator in Brazil. Cheers 4 Likes |

chriscole: Nice one. Now here is the reason why most people who have returned tickets are almost always never asked by the VO. When booking your ticket, you may or may not notice that Brazil is one of the countries that ask for information about arriving passengers from the airlines. We often overlook it. So you are most likely not going to be asked because the VO knows you have a return ticket. You will most likely be in trouble if you don’t have. Americans, Europeans can take that risk and talk their way out but a Nigerian + no returns ticket = disaster lol. Don’t risk it. Cheers 5 Likes |

iwanvisityankee: Hello iwanvisityankee. The list is this long because different Brazilian consulates ask for different documents depending on the conditions of the country they are located and the type of visa being applied for. Please upload those documents stated by the Brazilian consulate in the country where you are applying from. Cheers 1 Like |

Namae: Nice one Namae. Every visa interview i have ever attended (for various countries); (thank God i don’t have to attend any of them anymore), I have come to the sad realisation that the rudest people are our fellow Africans at the gate or receiving applications in this case. This is super ironic because, their attitude is the direct opposite of how Brazilians behave in general. Brazilians are one of nicest people on the planet and these guys at the gate have actually never been to Brazil before trust me. Nice story. Cheers 4 Likes |

chriscole: Generally, if you are not leaving the international area of the airport and you are only connecting to a flight, then you don’t need a visa. I will however suggest you contact air Morroco to be on the safe side. You need a return ticket because you are going in as a tourist. You can cancel your ticket once you enter Brazil. The immigration officer at the point of entry can refuse you entry without a valid return ticket. Some officers check, some don’t. I advice is to purchase a return ticket to be on the safer side. We personally lost money because our return ticket was refundable. The officer never checked but that was the price we had to pay to give our child options in life. Don’t risk it. Cheers 5 Likes |

TechSpot: Well said. Also note that for Nigerians, you can extend it for another 90 days at the Polícia Federal office in Brazil. Just make sure that when you go for your renewal, you still appear like a tourist if your baby is not yet born. If they suspect that you have other motives than being a tourist, then they will not extend it for you because your original visa itself is a tourist visa. Cheers 1 Like |

sappy1981: In most cases, the visa is valid for 1 year and you can stay in Brazil for a maximum of 180 days within that one year. There can however be exceptions where it can be issued for a shorter period. 1 Like |

sappy1981: 1. New language confuses everyone lol, even adults. But children can quickly adjust and it makes your children open minded by being outside their comfort zone. 2. Yes 3. Not recommended. Get here first, visit the private hospital yourself and ask for a tour of the facilities and secure a better deal. Cheers 2 Likes |

sappy1981: Hello sappy1981. Thanks. I would clarify something general then answer your specific questions. First and foremost your Brazilian baby passes on PR and or Provisional citizenship to both parents, siblings- (past, present and future) and grandparents irrespective of where the category of people mentioned were at the time of birth. This means, your other children will qualify for PR even if they don’t accompany you to Brazil at the time of birth. To however apply for PR or Prov Citizenship, they will have to visit Policia Federal in Brazil for application. So in summary, you don’t really have to take them along now if you have the option of leaving them with their Dad in Nigeria. The most important thing is that your baby is born in Brazil. They older children can always obtain a family reunification visa at the embassy later to come to Brazil to apply for their PR or Prov Citizenship. The embassy cannot deny them because it is their constitutional right. This fact i just stated is valid as of today and it will be valid unless anything changes in the mere future. If you can take them now, them please do but if you can’t please don’t force yourself. The most important thing is that your newborn is born in Brazil, everything else is “easy” after that. uchman: The surviving tip is to take good care of your wife and to be born child and make sure they are as comfortable as possible. The future of the entire family depends on these 2 people. So come to Brazil with enough money and time and look after your family. Everything else will fall in place when your baby is born. That baby is the key and do not play with that key. My humble view . Cheers 14 Likes |

afelouz: I understand. The reality is that as a tourist, you will have to pay especially that you are competing with the same classroom space with Western tourists. You even pay more for accommodation as a tourist lol. Things will only change after the little angel is born. Unfortunately, i don’t know of any affordable one but you can ask your Airbnb host. They are usually super helpful. Cheers |

afelouz: Hello afelouz. Your wife not having your surname is not a problem at all in PR application. In fact, you guys don’t even need to be married to apply for PR base on your baby. So far as both of you are the parents, you can apply for the PR. If you guys already had plans to change your wife’s name to yours then that is another thing all together. For that, i will personally recommend you guys waiting until after the PR application. Your wife’s name must match that of her passport and birth certificate. Of course she can legally change her name but if the legal name change has not yet taken place, then please let her us the name on her passport to make things easier for you guys. Both my husband and I have different surnames but we got our PR and now citizenship without any problem. Cheers 6 Likes |

Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by Adjo10: 11:17am On Jan 04, 2020 |
juliusocean: This is going to require a very long explanation but let me try and make is simple for you. In fact there is no more RNE. The 2017 immigration overhaul changed the name and category of many things. Since 2017 RNE as been change to CRNM card. Your CRNM card will have an “RNM” number on it. You will never receive a visa inside Brazil. What you receive is call CRNM card or residency card. Since 2017 there is a new category of naming of residency permits. There are 3 categories: Temporal residents (Students etc etc), Resident (Formally know as Permanent Resident) and a 3rd category i don’t even remember the name. So in short, your CRNM card will have a classification of “Resident” written at the back. Don’t be sad, that is actually your PR just that the name “Permanent” has been deleted according to the 2017 immigration law. To receive the “Residente” status, you must meet the requirements just like a person applying for PR in the past. There a many category of people who can receive PR (now “Residente”) in Brazil. These people are parents of a Brazilian child, investors, professionals with special skills and the spouse of a Brazilian. Here is what confuses people and they keep referring to it as a family reunification residency card. Like i said, many categories of people qualify for PR and PR (Residente) leads to citizenship. Even though you will have the same PR as someone else, you are still not equal in terms of the duration of the PR card (CRNM card) itself, and the amount of time you have to wait to apply for citizenship. Your PR card(CRNM card) as a parent is valid for 9 years, that of an investor is valid for 2 years etc etc... Whiles you have to spend only 1 year in Brazil to get citizenship, an investor has to spend 4 years. Remember that you both have the same physical looking PR card in hand which is blue-green in color while temporal residents is another color all together. Now, to differentiate your PR card with other PR cards, since there is no physical appearance difference, there will be a little writing at the back indicating the section of the immigration law that applies to your PR card. So yours will be that of family reunification. This is to make sure your application for citizenship is after 1 year of residency and not 4 or 15 years like others who have the same PR card. Voilaaaa... some people call it family reunification permit or whatever. At the end, the name doesn’t matter. It’s the value of it. Let us know when you get your card so that everyone here will understand if the information I’m providing is correct or not. Cheers 11 Likes 1 Share |

juliusocean: Happy new year juliusocean. Hope this year is full of blessings to all of us. There is nothing like family reunion visa inside Brazil. Like the name “visa” suggests, visas are only issued outside the country you want to enter. Maybe you meant something else. Cheers 1 Like |

Cjleks: Good question. Naturalization requires you to have PR. The only exception is if you have lived here continuously for 15 years. Applying for PR requires you to provide specific documents, translations and legalisation. If not well prepared, this can take you an eternity. So ultimately, you are delaying your naturalization process by delaying your PR. Note that, the number of years required for you to naturalized starts from the date you receive your PR card and not from the day to entered Brazil. Secondly, after PR there is a language requirement to naturalization. If you don’t plan well, you will spend 10 years here without getting to the required level for naturalization. 1 Like |

chriscole: Yea i can understand. But it is best to go for PR because it is the best way of ensuring that you don’t go through all these visa issues again next time you want to give birth in Brazil. PR is somehow an assurance that your future children will be Brazilians at least. It is worth the fight. Unfortunately, most if my friends who gave birth heard about Brazil late in their pregnancies so they came in a rash. They had no time to plan well. So it will definitely take them longer to get their citizenship. Most people think of US or Canada when it comes to giving birth. But they will make it at the end. They will all wave the beautiful Brazilian flag one day. At least before the next world cup lol. I wonder who i will support if Nigeria and Brazil should face each other at the World cup Cheers 5 Likes |
