Cool so with your PR you just walk into any University of choice and apply for free amazing..
About 2m should be enough for a family of 3 to settle for a while learning the language a little before you start job hunting I guess
Adjo10 here is the link to the vlog please watch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b174hFIey-o&t=428s

Thanks. I just watched the video and applaud him for his selfless act of trying to give information that many of our Africans brothers and sisters have but refuse to share. This is not to say that i endorse him nor claim every info he gives is correct or wrong. People have different source of information and different perspectives. We should all be opened to learning something new.

Back to the issue. I am not all knowing and in fact, i don’t know much. However most information i post here is a combination of official sources (Policia Federal which is like the immigration office), an aggregate of my own personal experience and that of my friends who gave birth here. I just checked again the immigration website which is in charge of receiving and processing PR applications to be sure what I’m saying is in accordance with the law. Trust me, unlike back home, they update info on their website by the minute. I can confirm that so far as the law is concerned, there is no requirement to submit proof of funds nor work contract for PR based on a Brazilian Child.

That said, the law allows immigration officers to ask for additional documents based on their observations during the filling process. So if you show up for your PR applications dressed and looking like a person who has nothing to eat and just wants to get a PR to take social benefits, then you may have the immigration officer asking you for funny documents lol.

In summary, most people who are genuinely in Brazil to contribute to the development of the country will not be required to show such funny documents. You are treated the way you present yourself. Cheers

Adjo10 thanks for the prompt responses I wanna know must the language school test be from a university are there no other accredited language schools around or its just the law
Can you give us an idea of how much it costs for foreign students
.

Per the new naturalization law the language requirement can be met in one of the following ways:

1. a CELPE-Bras certificate (the Brazilian government Portuguese language exams). To get a certificate, one much write the exam and get a minimum score equivalent to about 6 months full time 4-5 hours a day of language school attendance. Assuming you start from 0 knowledge in Portuguese.

2. A language certificate from a Portuguese course in a Brazilian institution designed for foreigners thus “the Portuguese for foreigners “ course offered in most Brazilian universities and i think private language schools in Brazil. I’m not sure about the private school part. Also for around 6 months (Starting from 0).

3. Certificate from any other institution in or outside Brazil. This is where your question comes in. I have no clue which institutions in or outside Brazil fall into this category. Absolutely no idea. Sorry...

I took mine for free as a PR holder. I have no idea how much it will cost. I will let us know if i come across such info. The only thing i heard about it is that it is expensive. I think because that is what most foreigners who want to study Portuguese in Brazil use to secure their student visas. (Americans and other Westerners). They have money lol

Nice one we need more people who think outside the box.. So talk to us about something that scares everyone THE LANGUAGE how long did it take you to grasp
2: is it true you must have a job / job contract when applying for the residence permit?

How fast you learn the language depends on your ability to learn new languages, your purpose of learning it and how motivated and committed you are to it. If Citizenship is your target then 6 months intensive language classes that is 4-5 hours class a day at a Brazilian university is enough. Come with some money with you so you don’t go out looking for work the moment you land instead dedicate 6 months to taken classes. Before 2019, the Naturalisation process required everyone to take a Portugese exam organized by the Brazilian government. This used to delay people’s ability to apply for citizenship early because this exam was organized only twice a year and it was not easy to get a place in the exam so people had to wait for years before sitting the exam but thank God this exam requirement is no more needed from around Feb 2019. Instead showing that you took the Special “Portuguese for foreigners course” in a Brazilian university for 6 months is enough. It’s cost a lot of money to take this course for foreigners but thank God it is free for PR holders. PR is sweet oooo lol. If you want to make it faster towards citizenship, then start learning Portuguese online before you land here to give birth. That way you will skip some basic levels at the Brazilian university and may take you only 4 months to get to the level required for citizenship. This is the path i used.

2. For PR based on a Brazil child, you absolutely need no proof of work nor proof of money. You see, lets get the facts straight, PR based on a Brazilian child simply has to do with being the parents of the child and you do not need to prove anything else major except that you do not have a criminal record. Even with a criminal record, you could still get it so far as the crime in not punishable in Brazil for more than a year imprisonment.

Who ever told you about the proof of work is talking about PR based on special skills needed in Brazil. Of course in that case you must have been invited by a Brazilian company and must have a work contract.

Don’t worry too much about PR based on a Brazilian child. All you need is for your child to be born here. Period.

Hey Adjo10 compliments of the season
So I was watching a vlog the other day and the guy mentioned smt he said those who give birth on expired tourist visas are not granted PR sometimes even with a brazillian child they are compelled to apply /seek for asylum which may or not be granted like really? What's your thought on that?
Keep the thread moving..... ✈

Merry Christmas juliusocean. The information you got from the vlog is absolutely false and has no legal backing. Parents of a Brazilian child get PR no matter your status. Period. This is guaranteed by the constitution of Brazil.

Let me tell you something, the only thing many Nigerians i have met here know is asylum, asylum, asylum... and nothing else. Many do not even know that they are entitled to PR when they give birth here. And unfortunately, this is how we are seen here (the people claiming asylum). That is why i have no Nigerian friends here. I did not immigrate to another country just to live like I’m in Nigeria lol. Some have genuine reasons for seeking asylum and many Nigerians here are good people but i just prefer to be in my little corner.

I want to appreciate you for your contributions to the success of this thread, It's so impressive.

Adjo10 is like the mom here, so accommodating, caring and detailed; sometimes you answer questions I personally will not because they sound stoopid and irrelevant to me. e.g. Questions that have been answered severally, or questions that the answers are boldly written on the embassy's website. Your heart is warm and comfy. You're good. grin (see me see wahala with person wife)

MrBrownJay1 and to you the father in the house, highly experienced & informed, always strictly on point, no sentiment, no shortcuts. You chastise and instruct. That's my kinda man.

justwise the thread FBI (other threads have DSS & SSS, you rock) the officer in charge of change, truth and a better Nigeria. I really didn't recognize you until I saw something like "kiss this moniker goodbye for a very long time" that's when I realized that there's fire here.

Back to business.
I am considering relocating to Brazil.
I have a Vitem I VISA I obtained (2017) for a professional "Industrial Automation" training in Brazil in an OEM (Smar Equipamentos Industriais, São Paulo). The training took place at their factory & training centre at Sertãozinho, I return to São Paulo on weekends.

I thought of relocating to Sertãozinho, though due to the nature of my training (intensive) I wasn't opportun to explore the area.
Is it advisable to consider Sertãozinho?

As for my visa, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem renewing it or obtaining another since I've been there before.
Please I strongly need your advice and any other information that will help.

Obrigado.

Hello calabardick. I think your post can now be commented on giving Juswise’s response that it was due to a technical problem.

I don’t think my response will be of much help but let me try and answer it in a more general way. Relocating to Brazil seem like a good idea to me but again it all depends on personel choice of country, purpose of relocation and most importantly the type of resident permit you have in Brazil.

Brazil is big and everyone has a city that appeals to him or her for various reasons. If Sertãozinho appeals to you, then go for it. It looks like you may be able to find work there in your field given your narrative. Finding a work you are passionate about is an important step worth considering.

My question however is, how do you plan relocating to Brazil in terms of visa or resident permit? because Vitem I does not allow an extended stay or residency to the best of my knowledge. But if you already have a good plan and think moving to Brazil is good then i support you 100%. Brazil has been good to me. It can also be excellent to you.

Another reason to give birth in Brazil

Good news guys. Brazil has now entered the US Global Entry Program for Low-risk Travelers run by the US Customs. This means that most Brazilians with a US visa and considered low risk by the embassy will no more be required to pass through immigration (physical immigration officers) but rather put their Brazilian passport in an automated machine at the airport and the doors will open to enter the US without coming into contact with any US immigration officers. The agreement was signed yesterday.

This is very good news for those wanting to give birth to future children in the US. Considering the fact that Brazilians are generally granted a 10 year US visa, you will no longer have to fear appearing before an officer at the POE with a big stomach.

My advice... make Brazil your first choice for giving birth. Get your own passport in 1 year and everything else will fall in place. Brazilian passport has a promising future. Be smart...

Hello my Fellows. Please forgive my silence to your questions. I decided not to say anything because most of your questions have been answered already. This thread is extremely short compared to others in similar categories yet other similar threads with over 400+ and 600 ask readers to start from page one. 38 pages here is a piece of cake for such an important journey.

People are willing to read 600+ pages for giving birth in USA but refuse to read 38 pages for Brazil even though i find Brazil package more advantageous.

I will kindly advise that we all read from page 1 before asking questions. In fact, this is a repeated information and i will not even bother to post such a message again in the future.

Finally, i appreciate your efforts to contact me personally for more specific information but if you have read from page 1 you will realise that i have repeated here over and over again that i cannot answer private requests and that all questions should be posted here.

This is my humble request as i will not respond to already answer questions.

To Adjo10 or any one who knows,

Can you explain how to get the brazilian passport for the under 10 sibling of the brazilian child? Do the parents need to convert for PR first or they can just apply for the sibling's passport without having to convert their status to PR?

Hi Steve. I have never gone through this process before. I can however explain and provide you a link to the official website of PF which is in charge of the application.

First of all, the this type of Naturalisation is called Provisional Naturalisation. It is intended for children of immigrants (holding PR) below the age of 10. So yes, the parents must be on PR.

Secondly, the child must be present in Brazil to claim this. In practice, I’m sure you and your family will be required to proof that you have intentions of staying in Brazil (through school registration for the child etc). It will all depend on the PF you apply to. Find the link to the official website clearly stating what you need to do. Cheers

Can I get citizenship Wen I married their daughter and I'm on tourist visit

The only country in the world that grants you unconditional automatic citizenship by marrying their national in Cape Verde. You have to meet other requirements in addition to just marrying someone to become a citizens in any other country including Brazil and Nigeria.

So the answer to your question is a NO. Marrying a Brazilian only gives you residency no matter the visa type you entered with but even that is not as easy as it may sound. You may not even get your marriage documents in hand by the time your tourist visa expires in Brazil. Marriage bureaucracy is a different level here.

After getting residency, you will have to fulfill certain demands including minimum physical presence in Brazil, Portuguese language skills and many more before you can even qualify for citizenship.

Please, Which airport is the safest airport to arrive while pregnant? I have seen a previous suggestion of Rio, but Rio to Floripa is far and I don't know if the local airlines would fly a pregnant woman and the baggage allowance might not be an issue too. thanks

It all depends on the immigration officer not the airport. Since you have a tourist visa, you must appear as a tourist. You are free not use the VIP lane at the airport for Pregnant and old people unless of course you cannot really stand on the normal lane due to very long queue. You are under no legal obligation to use the lane. It is a matter of choice.

Fly time from São Paulo or Rio to Floripa is about the same. 1 hour and 1.30min respectively. Once you arrive in Rio or São Paulo or which ever Brazilian airport you choose, you will have to use a domestic flight to Floripa but there will be no more immigration. There is no immigration checks when flying locally.

You can also reach Floripa by bus if the local airlines cannot take you due to the pregnancy. It is however a very long bus ride and not recommended.

Is this usually so for other countries too or just the brazillian way?

Brazilian consulates all over the world issue visas on their own authority to citizens of every country except for citizens of the following countries, the Consulate has to consult the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brasília before issuing the visa:

Central African Republic, Nigeria, North Korea, Senegal;

For citizens of any other country apart from the ones mentioned above, you get your visas within 5-10 days depending on the Brazilian consulate’s location.

Our country is really in a bad position when it comes to visas

I was surprised. It was at their office here in Lagos. I got back my passport 5mins after asking to withdraw my application.

From my understanding, the passport actually never leaves the embassy in Lagos. The Ministry in Brasilia only approves the online application and gives the embassy the go ahead to print the visa and stick it in your passport.

I went to the brazil consulate today to get my passport back, Since sept 9th, no decision yet. I had to go get our passport back. I was not even going to use the visa again even If I was given as my wife is already 37 weeks.

The two Nigerian guys attending to people there are some of the worst people on earth. They treat people with so much disdain.

I can really understand your frustration. In most embassies in Nigeria, our own fellow Nigerians working there are the problems. We don’t like to see our fellows move forward. They probably sit there and see people getting their visas and traveling every day while they have not had the chance to do so. I’m sure the Nigerian employees there are not allowed to give birth in Brazil as a employment policy because of that they try to frustrate others.

It shall be well. Africans, we are our own enemies

Please i need some advise on how to proceed. Now it's required to provide flight itenary when applying online and when submitting the application.I tried doing that using South Africa Airways to get that and was able to book on hold for just 72hours before payment thereafter it will cancel.can I go ahead to submit the itinerary online like that with that booking on hold ?
my fear is that I wouldnt want to go and pay for a flight since am not sure yet about the visa even if I and my wife have all the requirements.
Those in the house who have applied should please suggest how they provided the itenary or how they do it.@ afelouz,@ Adjo and anyone else.
Thanks everyone in advance

Hey swifteddy. Good question. I had the exact same question during my visa application time. This is what i did. I booked a return flights and opted to pay within 72 hours. I printed the itinerary and then let it expired. I uploaded it in the visa application system that way. On my submission day, i told the visa officer exactly what i did and explained to him that i couldn’t have bought the ticket because i was not sure of wether i will get the visa or not. The VO told me i did the right thing and that i was not expected to buy the ticket anyway.

My visa was approved without any issues. My suggestion:

Do not buy the ticket yet. Upload the itinerary and print a copy for submission. Explain it to the VO just to be sure things have not changed. If he tells you it’s fine then you are good to go. If he tells you otherwise then follow his recommendations.

Hello,

Thank you for your contributions so far, I have been a Guest/silent reader and i must say that you have been very helpful. Please I need information on how to apply for PR if one isn’t in the country or apply for visa using one’s child (who is a Brazilian) documents.

My wife is expected to give birth this month in Brazil but I’m unable to join her because my visa application was previously denied . Is there a way I can apply for my PR here or reapply for visa using my child ‘s documents?

Hello SirTokunbo. Congratulations on your wife making it to Brazil. You can only apply for PR at the Polícia Federal in Brazil by being physically present. But there is good news. Let your wife ensure that your name is on the baby’s birth certificate as well as the baby’s passport. Then use your baby’s birth certificate to apply for visa category XI. You will be granted irrespective of your previous denial. It is a special visa for your case. You then have to report to PF in Brazil within 60-90 days of your arrival in Brazil to apply for your PR. Here is the link of the requirements for the XI visa at the consulate in Lagos. You just need to provide the documents that falls in your category. Copy and past the link in your browser.

Thanks alot for the headsup and for coming back to the thread. I have started making arrangements to come in December or January at most. I have concluded on Floripa but the real estate agent I met from an expat group I belong too was concerned as december/january is a busy period for tourists and hardly will one get a good apartment or even get any at'all in Floripa. So, is there any other suggestion or a nearby city that is safe that one can live till the tourists in Floripa are gone? I really don't want to go to Rio or SP.

Also, both husband and wife will get their police report separately right?

thanks alot.

Hello afelouz. If you already have your visa then i suggest you head to Airbnb website. It will show you all available accommodation and prices in Florianopolis for the month of December and January. You can even book them ahead if you want. This will give you an idea of the accommodation situation in the city. You can also do same for other cities to get an idea.

There are cheaper options on local websites but honestly, I’m not familiar with them. Maybe @MrBrownJay1 may be able to help with suggestions.

You can try Joinville. It is not far from Floripa. Though Floripa is the capital of SC, Jointville is the biggest city. Accommodation may be cheaper and available there because it is not a tourist hotspot like Florianopolis. Accommodation in Florianopolis is expensive because rich Americans and Westerners come there for holidays.

Finally, another city which is not in the same state as Florianopolis but equally safe and less expensive is Curitiba. Very beautiful city.

I highly suggest Airbnb because in addition to accommodation, you get a friendly owner who will be willing to show you around and even translate for you. Filter on the website for owner who speak English.

To your second question. Yes both you and your wife get your own documents and police report. You people are applying as 2 different individual who have a child together. Marriage is not relevant here. Each of you are applying as individual parents. However carry your marriage certificate with you. It will be only useful if they doubt that you are the father.

Thanks

Sometimes through my responses, it may seem that Brazil is cheap in-terms of immigration. In actually fact, it is not. Brazil has one of the most rigid immigration laws in the world. It just happened that the rigidity has a legal lop hole when it comes to having a baby. This legal loop hole has not changed yet because of the latin america’s attitude towards family values and also because it is is not simply an immigration law which can be changed overnight but rather a constitutional provision which is difficult to amend. If for example birth citizenship right was not constitutional in US, Donald Trump would have done something about it from day 1 in office. It is the same in Brazil.

Thanks for the explanation, since I will be in Brazil 2months before the delivery of the baby, I can do the police report a week to departure and give it to a friend.

Other documents like marriage certificate, do I need to legalize that too at the ministry of foreign affairs?

Is legalizing a document at the ministry of foreign affair same as a notary public?

But won’t it be funny when they see ones name after they asked and issue the visa because you said you weren’t pregnant. Hope they cant decide not to legalize the document based on this?

Hey afelouz. You do notary before submitting it to foreign affairs.

You only need marriage certificate if you are applying for PR on the bases of marriage. For PR based on a Brazilian child, you don’t need. In any case, it is always safer to have more documents than less. So yes, you need to legalise the marriage certificate too.

About it being funny with the embassy. It doesn’t matter whatever you told the embassy or even if you entered illegally, when your baby is born, you are no more a tourist. You are now a resident so they embassy will legalise it for you.

That is why they are trying to prevent pregnant women from going in the first place because they know so far as the baby is born in Brazil they have no more power. The constitution is supreme and everyone must bow down to the constitution.

OK so according to google these are the documents needed wen applying for a PR

.Original Police Clearance Certificate
*.Original and photocopy of passport
*.Curriculum Vitae
*.Original or Certified copy of Birth Certificate (if applicable)
*.Original or Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
*.Professional and academic certificates
*.Evidence of Residential Address
*.Bank Statement
*.Certified copy of Business License or Incorporation documents (if applicable)
*.Business Plan
*.Two passport-size photos

Experts please review

Thanks juliusocean. For the documents for PR application as parents of a Brazilian baby you need the following:

1. Original birth certificate of the baby (This is the basis for which you are claiming PR)

2. Your own birth certificate clearly showing the name of your parents ( This is because your own parents too can apply for PR once you have been granted one). This must be legalised and translated into Portuguese in Brazil. (Please follow the legalisation process i outlined yesterday.

3. Your passport

4. Police report of your country and any country you have live in in the last 5 years. (Not countries you have visited but lived in). Also legalised and translated.

5. A PR application form filled online and printed with the fee paid at the Banco do Brazil.

6. 2 passport photos

7. Proof of address in Brazil ( This is in most cases already on the newborn’s birth certificate).

8. Your CPF (tax number). Anyone can obtain this number so far as you are in Brazil. Wether a tourist or resident.

This is all you need. The immigration officer reserves the right to ask you for further documents but in most cases they don’t. This is just enough.

Please note that you don’t necessarily need to present a marriage certificate because it is acceptable by the law to be not married but have a child together. After all you are not applying based on marriage but based on a common child. It is however advisable to have your marriage certificate with you just in case but generally it is not needed.

Finally, you don’t need any proof of employment or funds. The Brazilian constitution guarantees that parents of a Brazilian child cannot be expelled from Brazil no matter what, wether poor or rich.

Cheers

ALERT

Hello guys. I am going to stop giving infos for a while because i think i know what is actually happening. I will let it rest a while and come back.

It’s a strategy i know well about. So this is my view on what is happening.

There is an attempt to discredit the main person giving infos here. In doing so, they claim to be working with immigration and know the immigration law. They contradict everything i say and claim the other way. They simply want to create so much confusion here that you will not be willing to apply for visas to Brazil again because you are not sure what is true and what is not.

So i will stay silent for a while and come back when things calm down.

Peace

Hi gurus. Please, The police report that is needed for the PR application, can I make it down few weeks before traveling to brazil?

Which notary public is recognized that one can use?

After getting the police report and notarized it, do I need to take it to the embassy in lagos for anything? I hope not.

For someone who had a baby already ( below 7 years). Can the said baby get his/her brazilian passport before leaving brazil alongside the new born? Or they only issue a document that shows that the sibling is a citizen?

Thanks alot

To your second question. Please note that i have not done this before, i am only going to speak on the basis of what the law states.

In principle, your already existing child must be present in Brazil and apply for “provisional Nationality Certificate”. This can only be done after your newborn arrives as your other child will apply on the basis of his/her sibling (the newborn). Whiles your newborn can obtain his or her passport immediately as he or she is a natural born Brazilian, your already existing child is actually now applying to be Brazilian first. This process should take the same amount of time as your PR application.

After your already existing child receives the certificate for “Provisional naturalization “ then he or she is now Brazilian and can apply for a Passport.

It is called Provisional Nationality because, your already existing child must confirm that he or she wants to stay Brazilian at the age of 18. After this confirmation, then child is now a Brazilian.

However note that, there is no difference between Provisional naturalisation and your other natural Brazilian child. Their passports will be the same. The only difference is that your already existing child must confirm at 18 and cannot become a President of Brazil while your natural born Brazilian child can become President.

Cheers
