Business / Reason Online Pay System Wont Work In Nigeria by adriano83(m): 8:41am On Sep 04, 2006 |
Everyone in Nigeria is clamoring for the day nigeria would take a major step in e-commerce. the time may soon be around but there are 3 major barriers affecting (1.) less than 1/4 of nigerians are computer literate: with most people hardly knowing about computer in nigeria even the so called mega rich guys who dont know how to use it. how do you want to tell or even convince these people to buy or even enable E-commerce in their company or even to start with them having a website. if i propose webdesign to some people who own big companies they feel i am proposing ideas for people to steal or cheat them of their money meanwhile it is the only sure way to get accountabilty. (2.) Registration fees and protocol of getting e-commerce is to high: before getting an online payment platform i believe only registered companies or companies with a reasonable cash deposit be allowed access. that is perfectly ok, but the cost of registration is damn to high. jees for ability to transfer money from bank to bank or B2C it is 150,000 registration fee how on earth can these retailers that make our lives better afford this only the mega rich can do this and we expect it to work. other solutions rise are more expensive. this is the cheapest to get on. the cost of designing a website coupled with implementing the OS comerce on your page coupled with implementing the bank transfer from card is at a minimum of 300,000 naira how on earth can a retailer selling is electronics or computer store or those that make the consumer live afford this. this fees by this processing companies are damn to high. it only discourages people from even venturing into it. the mega rich wont want to buy online for reasons like they have drivers they can send and the masses who want to buy are denied the right to because the stores that can give them deals or who are cheaper are denied access. The Average retailer would think of expanding his business with 300,000 than selling online. (3.) Courier Fees are high: anything outside lagos is a nightmare in price you have to pay high to get the goods delievered. they dont have to be overnight delivery i believe the average consumer can get stuffs without having to leave his home. this courier fees are to high just to high they need to propose different price ranges like overnight 2 day 3 day 1 week you know. |
Webmasters / Re: We're Working On Online Payment by adriano83(m): 8:11am On Sep 04, 2006 |
guys this online payment platform in nigeria is goin to have a problem. it will be very hard to work with because the registration fees are to high that is why you have hardly seen it on web pages it is not that interswitch is not marketing enough but the cost of implementing it is to much. from a reliable source i gathered you need #150,000 to even get on the web pay system to receive payments on interswitch. how many nigerians have that money to pay that could do you some business and also design a cool site if you get a cool designer. i dont think it is people arent aware or dont want to try it it is the cost of implementing. and of all these online payment solutions i only see interswitch, etranzact and mastercard as the reliable faces but when the cost is very high compared with what the american people do. look at paypal they work on commission and u are set up in less than 10 minutes. so why wont they make their money even mastercard and visa it doesnt cost a fortune at all to implement the payment receiving system in your store or online it just requires a few steps. they earn per swipe or transaction. NIgerians this is a Case of brothers shooting Brothers. well we nigeria need to throw away this registration fees issue i can tell u if any reliable company comes up with free registration Interswitch etranzact and mastercard will be thrown out with perfect timing. |
Politics / Re: What Can Honest Nigerians Do to Stop 'Nigerian Scams'? by adriano83(m): 10:00am On Sep 03, 2006 |
guys what can we do to stop scamming is not an issue of introducing credit card into the society or most of this proposed solutions.(1.) the solution is for nigerians to stop chasing easy money they should work and think of ideas that would improve our economy. people like seun need to be commended i don't think there is any chat room greater than nairaland right now. i am not trying to psyche him up but seun is doing a good job setting up this forum. that is an idea and he is ripping his benefit. (2.) we should stop using flimsy excuse like government, no electricity, Corruption and a host of other things. is there no corruption or Scam in America so whats the excuse.( abramoff, Ken lay, tom Delay jeff skilling and a host of others) the average nigerian accuses the government and uses them as an excuse for all his problems. (3.) everyone claims there is no job how about creating one. no one wants to venture into tailoring, mechanic work , or even doing transport business. they all want white collar jobs and contracts. that is not possible some people need to find their way. we need to start thinking like the bill gates , jerry yang and co. the only thing a nigerian knows how to do well is to complain and give suggestion to every problem in this life. an average nigerian has a solution to everything in this life and only them know what to do at atime.they havent solved their but can solve other people's own("remove the plank in your eyes before removing the peck in your brothers eye'') Question: of the world's richest people how many of them are CEO's professor or and also look at the list comapre the ratio of self made billionaires/ college drop out to the inherited/ college graduate http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/10/Rank_1.html (4.) stop beefing each other and work our fingers to the bone. don't lets us hate people for the good works they have done lets commend them and let is spur us to do something better. please nigerians be inspired and lets try and give our selves job rather than looking at the government for milk and honey or proposing how to stop scam. jerry yang did it bill gate did it roman abramovich did it.
