Politics / Timi Frank To Tinubu: Your Silence Over Attacks Against Yorubas Worrisome by Africafooty: 12:24pm On Feb 15, 2021
Political Activist, Timi Frank, has called on a former Governor Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to speak up in defence of the Yoruba race now under fierce attacks by herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers.

This happened even as the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, berated President Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu, over the recent crisis in Oyo State as well as across the Southwest and other regions of Nigeria.

Frank, in a statement in Abuja, on Monday, also decried the spate of insecurity in the country, especially in the South West, saying that Buhari and Tinubu should be held responsible for the crises.

He urged the APC leader to break his silence and speak up against the attacks in his region, saying his continued silence does not portray him as a leader who has the interest of his people at heart.

He said: “The crisis in the South-West should be solely blamed on Tinubu who foisted Buhari on Nigerians and especially on the Southwest.

“How can Tinubu continue to keep mute over the attacks in Oyo state and other Southwest states?

“Tinubu is a leader of the Yorubas in Southwest. Asiwaju cannot be silent over matters involving threats to life, peace and security of his people.

"His continued silence has become too loud, especially owing to the fact that he was the major influence and the reason the Yorubas voted massively for Buhari in 2015.

"Tinubu's silence shows he is only protecting his business interests in the South-West as well as protecting his political ambition.

“He does not want to shatter his relationship with Buhari which in turn, by his calculation, would attract the President's nod for him to have a shot at the presidency come 2023.

"But as a leader of the region, Tinubu should speak against the attacks against his people and not be driven by his selfish 2023 presidential ambition."

The Bayelsa-born activist added: “Nigeria is more divided under Buhari than it has ever been before. Buhari's government has polarised the country across religious and ethnic lines.

"This government is so clueless and incompetent that it recognises and shows a soft hand on terrorist groups like Boko Haram, killer herdsmen and bandits, but sadly mete out cruelty on innocent and patriotic Nigerians.

"Look at the number of security personnel it sent to wickedly dehumanise and arrest peaceful #EndsSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.

“Yet, the Buhari government can't send a similar proportion of law enforcement agencies after killer herdsmen.

“Instead, the President is emboldening the terrorist groups with his direct and indirect support, even against the South-West region and the likes of Tinubu have kept silent while their people suffer."

Frank, however, urged all Nigerians and especially the leaders in the South-West to "unite and fight this common enemy."

He urged other regions to also join in the fight, warning that if the trend is allowed to fester, that sooner or later, the crisis of insecurity may grow out of proportion in every region of the country.

Politics / #EndSARS: Timi Frank condemns re-opening of Lekki Tollgate by Africafooty: 10:22am On Feb 09, 2021
Political Activist, Timi Frank, on Tuesday, condemned in strong terms the ordered re-opening of the Lekki Tollgate Plaza by the Lagos State Judicial Panel.

The panel of enquiry, led by Justice Doris Okuwobi (rtd), was set up to thoroughly investigate all verifiable claims of abuses and fatalities arising from defunct SARS brutal activities, bring erring officers to justice and ensure adequate compensation for the victims.

Youths protesting against SARS brutality and irresponsible governance in the country were gruesomely murdered by men of the Nigerian Army during the Lekki Tollgate shootings aimed at quelling the #EndSARS uprising.

Soldiers had opened fire on the unarmed peaceful protesters following “orders from the top.”

To the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, the action of the panel is patently insensitive to the plight of innocent Nigerians who lost their lives or were maimed for life during the dastardly attack by government security forces.

He accused the panel of bias and acting the script of the Lagos State and the Federal Governments who consider the revelations emanating from the panel as a source of continuous embarrassment.

He insisted that the Lagos State Government that constituted the panel is simply out to protect the interest of “big business” not minding the huge scars inflicted on Nigerians and Nigeria by the unprovoked Lekki Tollgate massacre.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the re-opening order which has been rightly rejected by four out of the nine-member panel.

He vowed that Nigerians youth will not rest until those who masterminded the killings are brought to justice.

“This is simply a display of crass insensitivity. The panel has shown by this action that they are not out to serve the cause of justice but to protect the interest of big business, Lagos State and Federal Government.

“Nigerians youths who died will not die in vain. I call on Nigerians resident in Lagos to ignore this reprehensible order that emanated from a kangaroo panel out to pervert the cause of justice rather than ensure it.

“The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the ex-Service Chiefs who masterminded the killing of innocent Nigerians at the #LekkiMassacre must pay for their crimes against humanity either on earth or in the hereafter,” Frank declared.

The Bayelsa-born political activist called on Nigerians to stand up for the victims of the murderous action of the Nigerian Government by staging solidarity protests wherever they live in memory of the exterminated youths.

He expressed support for the #OccupyLekkiTollGate and called on Nigerian youths not to be intimidated by the action of security forces who may be out to frustrate the plan.

Politics / Timi Frank: "Why Senate Must Not Confirm Ex-service Chiefs As Ambassadors" by Africafooty: 11:56am On Feb 07, 2021
Timi Frank: Why Senate must not confirm Buratai, Olonishakin, other ex-Service Chiefs as ambassadors

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday, gave reasons why the Senate cannot confirm ex-Service Chiefs recently nominated as ambassadors.

The nominees by President Buhari are: Gen Abayomi Olonisakin (rtd), Lt Gen Tukur Y. Buratai (rtd), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd), and Air Vice Marshal Mohammed S. Usman (rtd).

He said that the Senate would be going against its many resolutions when it passed vote of no confidence on the former army commanders over incompetence.

According to him, the confirmation of the ex-commanders would amount to both chambers of the National Assembly returning to their vomit.

He listed occasions when the Senate and the House of Representatives had expressly urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the ex-military commanders over lack of capacity, incompetence and failure to stem the tide of insecurity in the country to include:

The attack by army personnel on residents of Naka in Gwer-West Local Government Area of Benue State and the beheading of 67 rice farmers by Boko Haram insurgents in Zabarmari community in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.

Senate’s resolution on a motion sponsored by the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Yahaya Abudullahi, titled: “Nigerian Security Challenges: Urgent Need To Restructure, Review And Reorganize The Current Security Architecture.”

The minority caucus in the House of Representatives again called for the sack of the service chiefs in its reaction to the attack on the convoy of the Governor of Borno State, Baba Gana Zulum, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, on July 31, 2020.

He noted that prominent groups in the country including the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development, apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have at various times called or supported calls for the sack of the Service Chiefs over their failure to secure the country - humongous annual defence budgets notwithstanding.

To crown it all, he recalled that President Buhari had passed a vote of no confidence on the ex-military commanders when he told them that their “best was not good enough.”

The Bayelsa-born political activist wondered whose interest the Senate would be serving by confirming the ‘failed generals’ as ambassadors in the face of widespread doubt over their competence, capacity and capabilities when they held sway.

He revealed that there is a plot to induce each Senator with $100,000.00 each to ensure that the controversial nominees were confirmed and urged the lawmakers to reject such anti people’s plot.

He said that Nigerians are watching to see how the Senate, especially its opposition lawmakers, will betray the confidence reposed in them by Nigerians by allowing this potentially egregious confirmation of the ex-military commanders to sail through.

“We have it on good authority that they have earmarked funds to the tune of $100,000.00 each per Senator to have their way but the Senators need to show patriotism by rejecting the money and the nominees in the national interest and as true representatives of the people,” he declared.

Politics / Tanimu Kazeem Calls For Immediate Resignation Of Dr. Babagana Adam Of DOAS by Africafooty: 10:34am On Feb 06, 2021
Renowned Social Commentator and Young Entrepreneur, Tanimu Kazeem has called for the immediate resignation of Director of the Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage, Dr. Babagana Adam.

In a recent post which he made available on his Facebook page, Mr. Kazeem vented his anger enthusing that Dr. Babagana has caused more damages to SMEs and other small businesses because of his greed and crookedness.

See below:

It is shameful that this country is still playing sway to people like Dr. Babagana Adams, who is the Director of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS). The stretch of pushing this country into deep waters becomes obvious when an individual is a sole signatory to a Public Office bank account.

Dr. Babagana has expend more energy in frustrating SMEs and other growing businesses with some unguided policies. He has deprived over 300 businesses from operating, all in the name of APCON licenses. His crookedness has led him into billing Stakeholders to contribute money so he can fight Abuja Municipal Area Council,  the same council that has given you leverage to operate.

His strongheadness is obvious, as he is not obeying court order, hence he keeps fighting his way into small businesses that has always operated under the code and conduct of the FCT. Dr. Babagana should realise that we are not going to allow him find solace in his crookedness!

If he continues with such acts, we will be forced to lead a 1000 match to his office, calling for his immediate resignation!

Politics / Timi Frank Faults Nomination Of Ex-service Chiefs As Ambassadors by Africafooty: 9:13am On Feb 05, 2021
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday, rejected the nomination of the immediate past Service Chiefs for appointment as non-career Ambassadors

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) had in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, announced General Abayomi Olonisakin (Rtd), Lt. General Tukur Buratai (Rtd), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Rtd), and Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Usman (Rtd), as envoys.

Frank in a statement in Abuja, said Buhari’s action was tantamount to rewarding incompetence at the nation’s expense global image and perception.

He added that their nominations as envoys by Buhari is meant to dress them in diplomatic immunity in order to shield them from
investigation and prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) already probing the varied atrocities and crimes against humanity, the ex-Service Chiefs may have individually or collectively perpetrated while in office.

The Bayelsa-born political activist noted that the #LekkiMassacre during the #EndSARSs protests, where scores of innocent Nigerian youth who were protesting peacefully against police brutality were shot and killed by soldiers, is of recent memory.

He appealed to the Senate, to put national interest and pride first by rejecting the nominees.

He also called on members of the international community, particularly the countries where the ex-Service Chiefs may be posted to as envoys to reject them.

He vowed to mobilise Nigerians in diaspora to stage protests in countries of their primary assignment should the ex-Service Chiefs ever be posted as diplomats by Buhari.

Frank said: “The nomination of these ex-Service Chiefs to represent Nigeria in foreign countries is an international embarrassment and a new low for the country’s image.

“The world has gone past the era where incompetent and sacked military chiefs can be considered fit and proper persons to represent a democratic country in the conduct of high-wired diplomatic business.

“Buhari has clearly got this wrong. He erroneously believes that his administration is a military junta.

“This nomination shows that it has become habitual for General Buhari to reward incompetence. Only recently, he appointed a new Chief of Army Staff who was sacked in 2017 by former ex-Chief of Army Staff, General Buratai, for incompetence.

“How can men with such huge baggage of human rights abuses, administrative impropriety and history of failures be chosen to bring Nigeria political and economic laurel at home or at the international arena?

“Nigerians need to stand up against this anomaly. The damage will be colossal and we are all involved. The time to speak up is now!”

Politics / Bank Documents Expose How Governor Umahi Transferred Billions To His Company by Africafooty: 1:30pm On Feb 01, 2021
Bank documents expose how Governor Umahi transferred billions to his company from Ebonyi treasury

David Umahi was given a chance to govern the poorest state in southern Nigeria. But expanding his own pocket has been his priority from day one.

Governor David Umahi has clutched onto his vast business interests just as firmly as his grip on political power, Peoples Gazette can report, in sheer disdain for extant code of conduct regulations precluding senior public officials from conducting private businesses, except subsistence agriculture, while in office.

Bank records of Ebonyi State’s, recently obtained by the Gazette, showed a sustained trend of illicit financial flows from the state’s purse to Brass Engineering & Construction Nig. Ltd., which CAC filings showed belonged to Mr. Umahi, 57.

Between 2011 and 2019, Brass Engineering, which Mr. Umahi founded and chaired since 1993, has received more than N3.6 billion, records show. Mr. Umahi started transferring state funds into Brass Engineering shortly after becoming deputy governor to Martin Elechi in 2011. When he assumed governor himself in 2015, he continued the suspicious transaction with his firm, despite claiming to have recused himself from the firm’s management in 2011.

The transactions, totalling N3,623,496,247, constitute available records of several tranches of disbursements made from state bank accounts to Brass Engineering, for shoddy government contracts commandeered by Mr. Umahi for his private firm.

The Gazette also uncovered how state officials erased suspicious payment records between Ebonyi and Brass Engineering, said to be managed by Mr. Umahi’s younger brother Austin.

Bank records seen by the Gazette showed that a string of twelve transactions totalling N1,263,550,513 was paid to Brass Engineering since 2011. The money was transferred from Ebonyi StateExpenditure Accounts 1001158077 and 1015339019 with UBA.

Date of the transactions was, however, erased from the bank records.

On May 17, 2012, Brass Engineering received N29,840,214 four times and N526,062,249 twice on the same day from the state’s expenditure account with UBA. The same account also transferred N215,791,478 on April 2, N29,971,717 on October 23, N56,637,703 on November 1, N178,000,000 on December 3, N56,637,703 on December 14 and N149,543,855 on December 24, to Brass Engineering.

The six transactions — all paid in 2012 totalled N1,858,067,810.

Further analysis of Ebonyi’s finances showed that in 2013, the state government’s account did not show any transaction details, in an apparently dubious move to circumvent accountability.

The Gazette, however, obtained the account record of Brass Engineering Ltd., which uncovered payments made to the firm’s Fidelity Bank account 4010650023 in 2013.

Payments traced to Brass’ Fidelity Bank account from the state government included N35,059,617 on April 8, N71,134,890 on May 13 and N71,134,890 on June 11 — totalling N177,329,397.

In 2014 and 2015 when Mr. Umahi took over the saddle as governor of Ebonyi State, massive withdrawals were made from state accounts favouring Brass Engineering, even though records were expunged.

On February 29, 2016, Brass Nig. Ltd. received N10,000,000 from Ebonyi State Ministry of Power’s Zenith Bank account 1014500654. The same account made payment of N10,000,000 to Brass on April 5.

On September 7 of the same year, Brass Engineering received payment of N6,640,597 from Ebonyi Government House Pay Office’s account 2009181900 with First Bank, bringing the total sum in 2016 to N26,640,597.

The Zenith Bank account 1010679606 of the Ebonyi State Government House Pay Office made transfers of N13,744,617 and N10,041,376 to Brass on January 24 and February 28, 2018, respectively.

The state’s ministry of power’s Zenith account 1014500654 paid Brass N35,338,250 on September 14, N34,276,519 on October 10 and N32,081,528 on November 5.

On the same year, Governor Umahi’s firm received N30,652,372 from Ebonyi state’s Expenditure Account 0043921084 with GTB on February 28, while also receiving payment of N27,164,929 from the state’s Expenditure Account 2009608623 with First Bank on January 24 — totalling N183,299,591 received in 2018.

The Ebonyi State Ministry of Power’s Zenith Bank account 1014500654 made double payments of N39,604,798 to Brass Engineering on March 26, 2019, and N35,398,743 on May 14. The transactions totalled N114,608,339 in 2019 and a grand total of N3,623,496,247.

Ebonyi State has been the poorest in southern Nigeria for decades, despite huge resources being directed to the state by the federal government and international development organisations. The state has consistently ranked the worst in education, health and other critical development indicators.

Yet, Zenith, UBA and Fidelity did not return requests for comments from the Gazette about their involvement with Mr. Umahi’s alleged plunder and how it has left the state in perpetual deprivation.

In messages to the Gazette, Mr. Umahi declined to contest the accuracy of our findings. Instead, he sent a barrage of insults and threatened legal consequences.

“What is ur f**kin business about who transacts govt business?” the governor said in a message to the Gazette. “Go to hell and die.”

Mr Umahi’s recent defection from the PDP has fuelled speculations that his controversial move to the ruling APC might be connected to his widely presumed presidential ambition.

His political entanglement with President Muhammadu Buhari and growing calls for the president’s successor to be handpicked from the Southeast have been perceived as a competitive edge that places Mr. Umahi in great shape for a presidential run.

Nonetheless, Mr. Umahi”s presidential ambition could hit roadblocks given the depth of financial impropriety that has characterised his decade-long political trajectory.

Politics / Timi Frank Says Buhari Lost 6years Of Fighting Insecurity To Service Chiefs by Africafooty: 7:20pm On Jan 26, 2021
Buhari lost six years of fight against insecurity to incompetent Service Chiefs, Says Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Tuesday, attributed the rising spate of insecurity in the country to the retention, for far too long, of incompetent Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Frank who was reacting to the reluctant sack of the Service Chiefs and appointment of new ones in a statement in Abuja, lamented that Buhari wasted a whooping one term and a quarter of his administration (about six years) without achieving any decisive victory against Boko Haram, murderous herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers.

“It became apparent early in the life of this regime that the set of Security Chiefs now sacked by Buhari had no zeal to fight.

“They lost battle after battle as the men in their various theatres became lame duck easily attacked by the insurgents as a result of insufficient armaments as a result of the corrupt officers at the helms of affairs up till on Tuesday.

“While the former Service Chiefs - Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar - prevaricated and politicised their offices, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping spread like wild fire from the North East to the North West, North Central, South West, South South and South East zones of the country.

“Lamentably, the persistent and strident calls for their replacement and appointment of fresh officers capable of breathing life into the war against insecurity - which is a cardinal agenda of this regime - fell on Buhari’s deaf ears.

“At last, he woke up and did the needful after about six wasted years. This came too late and it is left to be seen how the next two and half years of this regime will fare security-wise,” Frank said.

He called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate and prosecute the ex-Service Chiefs.

He urged them to ensure that huge chunk of Defence budgets fraudulently appropriated by the ex-Service Chiefs to the detriment of the nation’s security are recovered and returned to the treasury.

He also called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to fast track their investigation on the #LekkiMassacre during the #EndSARS protests and ensure that the immediate past Service Chiefs who gave orders for the killing of scores of innocent youths are held to account.

He expressed hope that the new Service Chiefs which include Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff, would be able to turn the tide on insecurity in the country in no distant time.

He called on the new Service Chiefs to shun politics but rather should use their positions to work selflessly for the peace and security of the country.

“Nigerians are hopeful that your appointment will result in the speedy reversal of insurgency and arrest of criminal elements that have laid siege on this country.

“We hope that Nigerians would be able to sleep with their two eyes closed because of your appointments,” he added.

Politics / Buhari, A Corporate Tyrant Under The Structure Of Democracy by Africafooty: 5:05pm On Jan 26, 2021
Every nation blessed with a strong multi ethnic background mostly can't escape pockets of disunity and crises here and their,

But the manner of disunity in the country today bring the genuinity of the current leadership of this country to the table of doubt.

Nigerians, in the bid toward achieving the desired nation of our dreams, prayed and worked towards having a purpose driven and ambitious head of state  but unfortunately we were blessed with an ambitious head of herds,

Who primary play a strong game of sentimentality in favour of his colleagues in herds and cattle rearing section as against the official oath and national interests

Buhari is a national disaster, a corporate tyrant hiding under the structure of democratic dispensation to oppress and delivered a game of vengeful act.

He lack a conscious control of his home, even though he is very much concerned about the public impression of him being presumed a purified personality.

He has created an unbreakable record of leadership disaster, who successfully ruins the hope and dream of the current and  future generations of this country..

He beings tears into the  eyes of the strong and breaks into pieces the heart of the emotional with his sentimentality and wrong adminstrative policy decisions.

May this generation finds a pace to retrace their the navigation that can  aid the direction into the Nigeria of our dream.

Nigeria is presently burning from all angle due to Buhari's incompetence, nepotism, and tribalism.

God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Timi Frank To Lai Mohammed: "It's Irresponsible To Say Nigeria Is Safer " by Africafooty: 8:10am On Jan 26, 2021
Timi Frank to Lai Mohammed: It's irresponsible to say Nigeria is safer under Buhari

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Tuesday, described as irresponsible, the statement by the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, that Nigeria is safer under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Frank, in a statement in Abuja, dismissed the minister's claim saying Nigeria is today beset with the worst form of insecurity in her history.

Frank was reacting to a statement by the Information Minister, where he boasted at a news conference in Abuja, that ‘despite the rising security challenges facing the nation, that Nigeria is still safer under President Muhammadu Buhari than what he met on assumption of office in 2015.’

To the former APC spokesperson, the minister's claim was misleading, false and irresponsible.

The Bayelsa- born political activist insisted that the country is not only faced with threats from Boko Haram but that the killings, kidnappings and communal clashes orchestrated by killer herdsmen have worsened under Buhari.

He lamented that the APC government led by Buhari has unfortunately emboldened the herdsmen to continue their heinous crimes against innocent Nigerians by using the instrument of state to shield them from prosecution.

He noted that the "refusal by the security agencies to arrest and prosecute the killer herdsmen smacks of complicity."

According to him, "how can you say, with such irresponsible effrontery, that a country whose people are being killed in hundreds on daily basis and their properties worth billions destroyed by a group named by the Global Terrorism Index as Africa's number one and the world's third most deadliest terrorist group, is safer under Buhari?

"There is no region in the country where these herdsmen reside that there are no killings, raping of women, kidnappings and destruction of farm lands. The most recent is in the South West.

"Nigerians can recall what these murderous herdsmen did in Benue state, where they killed scores and declared war on the people. The kidnap of over 350 Kankara school boys in Katsina state and the payment of huge ransom by government to secure their release is a recent memory.

"Is it the terrorist Boko Haram group that the Buhari government has contained as promised? Was it not under Buhari that insurgents abducted 110 schoolgirls from Dapchi, Yobe State?

"Till date, killer herdsmen go about with weapons, killing people, raping women and destroying farm lands with their cattle and no action has been taken by Buhari to dissuade or stop them.

"What makes it even worse is that when they some of them are arrested and handed over to the police, they are soon set free. This shows that even the security agencies are complicit. They are apparently benefiting from the rising spate of insecurity in the country.

"I therefore call on the international community to come to the rescue of Nigerians. I also urge state governors to rise to the occasion and ensure that the lives and property of their people are secured.

"I call on Nigerians to take the security of their lives and property in their hands," he declared.

Politics / Timi Frank Urges Biden To Help Nigeria Conduct Free, Fair Elections In 2023 by Africafooty: 5:12pm On Jan 24, 2021
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday, called on the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to support Nigeria to conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2023.

This is even as he congratulated Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris, for their electoral victory which the American people have validated through the nation’s ever vibrant and resilient democratic institutions.

He commended Biden for his phone call to a Nigerian family in which he appreciated the role played by Nigerians in his poll victory and his eventual inauguration as President.

To the Bayelsa State born political activist, “the call shows that Biden has the interest of Nigerians and by extension Africans at heart.”

He therefore called on him to take a stronger interest in Nigeria by helping her to build stronger and better democratic institutions capable of checkmating insecurity, tyranny, oppression, intimidation, rigging, electoral fraud and violence in Nigeria come 2023, just like American institutions have done to uphold his victory.

He urged Nigerian security agencies, Independent National Electoral Commission and the Judiciary to learn from their U.S. counterparts who despite the circumstances that surrounded the American elections, rather pledged their loyalty to the constitution and remained neutral.

He said that their action is very much unlike Nigeria where these organs of state easily lend themselves to manipulations to uphold, support and validate fraudulent electoral outcomes in favour of the incumbent.

He said that the refusal of the electoral stakeholders in American to be hound-winked by the immediate past American President, Donald Trump, has further strengthened the position of America as the defender of democracy and freedoms around the world.

He said that he is confident that Biden and Harris would further strengthen American democracy and lead the country to combat official lawlessness and ensure freedom of speech in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

He lauded Biden for speaking out for Nigerian youth following violent crackdown against them by security forces during the #EndSARS protests and his call during the period on the United States to stand with Nigerians who were peacefully demonstrating for police reforms and seeking an end to corruption in the country.

He called on the American President to take a stronger position against looters and those out to truncate democracy in Nigeria as well as help fight the ravaging security challenges in Nigeria and government’s intolerance and criminalization of free speech.

He further called on him to take more than a passing interest in Nigeria by ensuring that those responsible for #LekkiMassacre and every form of police brutality are brought to justice.

Frank said: “We urge the American Government, under Biden, to help bring to justice security operatives responsible for the #LekkiMassacre during the #EndSARS protests as well as help to stop the continuous harassment of those who partook in the peaceful demonstrations by agents of the Buhari regime.

“America must also help Nigeria to apprehend, prosecute, jail and ban looters in the Buhari administration who are now searching for safe haven to hide their ill-gotten wealth.”

Politics / Timi Frank Reveals Buhari's Government Are Prioritising Fulani Herdsmen by Africafooty: 4:38pm On Jan 23, 2021
Buhari's government prioritising Fulani herdsmen's interests above other Nigerians - Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank has accused the president Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives government, APC, of prioritising the interests of Fulani herdsmen over the collective and constitutional interests of other Nigerians.

Frank's reaction is coming on the heels of the statement made by president Buhari's spokesman, Garba Shehu, wherein Shehu said Fulani herdsmen can't be ousted from any part of the South West region of Nigeria, despite the criminal elements infiltrating them.

Mr. Shehu had, while countering the ultimatum given by the Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, to "bad elements” among the Fulanis "who had turned the forest reserves in the state into hideouts for keeping victims of kidnapping, negotiating ransom and carrying out other criminal activities," said the governor lacked the powers and could not unilaterally oust thousands of herders whom he said  “have lived all their lives in the state."

But Timi Frank, in his statement on Saturday, said the Buhari-led APC government should rather arrest and prosecute killer herdsmen instead of making statements that smack of emboldening them.

According to him, "Buhari must not embolden these killer herdsmen with such statements. Garba Shehu's statement smacks of giving the herders a go-ahead nod.

However, The governor is the chief security officer of his state and has the constitutional right to secure the lives and property of the people whom he swore to protect."

"Statements such as made by Garba Shehu only shows that the Buhari government prioritises the interests of the Fulanis above those of other Nigerians.

"Is Buhari's government now telling us that both the governor and the people should fold their hands and watch while intruding, murderous herders kill, kidnap them and destroy their property?

"It is no news that even when these killer herdsmen are arrested and handed over to the security agencies, they are soon allowed to go scot-free.

"Buhari must show that he is the president, not for the Fulanis alone but for all Nigerians.

He must also show leadership and sincerity in curbing insecurity in the country by arresting and prosecuting killer herdsmen who go about killing, kidnapping and raping indigenes of their host states and not emboldening them.

"I urge all South West governors to rise to the occasion and perform their constitutional duties of securing the lives and property of their people," he said.

The ex APC spokesperson who also condemned the use of violence by  Sunday Adeyemo, a youth leader popularly known as Sunday Igboho who had issued a quit notice to herdsmen in Oyo state, however, said that a peaceful approach in fishing out the criminal elements among the Fulani group is a more ideal approach.

Recall that Igboho had asked herdsmen in Igangan in Ibarapa north local government area of Oyo state to leave within seven days following reports of the killing of some Oyo citizens by herdsmen.

He had blamed the herders and Fulanis, including Saliu Kadri, the Seriki Fulani, of being behind the rising insecurity in the area.

However, following the quit notice, the IGP, Saturday, issued an order for his arrest and transfer to Abuja.

But Frank, in his reaction, also condemned the IGP for what he described as a biased arrest order which he said further encourages the herders.

He questioned the police boss' "swift and biased" arrest order on Sunday Igboho whom he said has killed nobody but only sought to protect his people.

He said such arrest order should first be issued and executed on the killer herdsmen who have been killing innocent citizens across the country for so long now.

According to him, "why has the IGP not issued such arrest warrants on killer herdsmen who have been killing and kidnapping people across Nigeria for many years now? This shows that even the security agencies are encouraging the killer herdsmen on their spree.

"How can the IGP issue an arrest order on Sunday Igboho while showing a blind eye on the herdsmen? Are the killer herdsmen now above the law? Does it mean the IGP is unaware of the killings and heinous crimes perpetrated by these killer herdsmen against their host communities?

"I condemn the IGP's biased and rather too swift arrest order on Mr Igboho without replicating such on the killer herdsmen. The IGP should not drag the face of the security agencies to the mud by such biased arrest orders.

He should entertain equity in executing the stipulations of the constitution by issuing an arrest order on all killer herdsmen, not just in the South West alone but across Nigeria," Frank said.
