Politics / Timi Frank Urges Buhari To Probe Osinbajo, Augf Over Alleged N10bn Withdrawal by Africafooty: 9:20am On Aug 09, 2020
Timi Frank urges Buhari to probe Osinbajo, AuGF over alleged N10bn withdrawal from TSA.

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday, urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, to urgently constitute a panel of inquiry to investigate the illegal withdrawal of N10billion from the Treasury Single Account.

Frank in a statement in Abuja, said that such a panel must of necessity be given a clear mandate to unravel the involvement of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the Auditor General of the Federation (AuGF), Anthony Ayine, in the brazen illegality.

He noted that for Osinbajo, it appears to be a season of one month one corruption scandal.

The political activist said has become extremely worrisome that the nation is sinking deeper into corruption, with multiple fraud scandals, at a time Nigerians expected to see tangible dividends of the anti-corruption war, which is the foremost object of this regime.

He also called on Osinbajo to explain his role in the various corruption allegations that have been trailing him since 2017 rather than always running to court to divert attention.

He called on the National Assembly not only to probe the N10bn TSA heist, but to act on their report by initiating impeachment proceedings against Osinbajo, if found wanting.

“Since after the 2019 general elections, Osinbajo has been enmeshed in one corruption allegation or the other, and it is high time an official probe is ordered to unravel the truth.

Frank said: “First, Osinbajo was linked to N90bn said to have been funneled to him by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to prosecute the 2019 general elections in the Southwest.

“The Vice President was also said to have received the sum of N4bn from the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which is still questionable.

“Besides, the House of Representatives Committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness had indicted Osinbajo for approving the sum of N5.8 billion for emergency intervention of food security to the northeast in June 2017, when he was acting president.

“This is why the present allegation of illegal withdrawal of N10billion from the TSA made against the VP has become one scam too many.

“It is only a thorough and unbiased investigative panel that can either confirm or disprove these allegations and the time to order such a probe by Buhari is now.

“Osinbajo as an elected public official, and he owes Nigerians an inalienable obligation to explain his part in all these corruption allegations against him.

“Going to court and seeking to use legal gymnastics to intimidate and harass whistle blowers is at best diversionary.

“On his part, the AuGF should be suspended from office to allow for unhindered investigation of this illegality and gross abuse of office.

“The ongoing probe of the suspended acting chairman of the EFCC should serve as a template for the unraveling of this mind-boggling looting of the nation’s treasury.

“Nigerians expect the National Assembly to rise up and defend democracy and ensure that the nation’s resources are not being brazenly plundered in this sordid manner.

“It is high time the lawmakers jettison their rubber stamp attitude, conduct diligent investigation and ensure that those found to have abused their offices are booted out, through impeachment or otherwise, and equally prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.”

Politics / Activist Accuses NASS Minority Caucus Of Silence Over Corruption Allegations by Africafooty: 2:12pm On Aug 04, 2020
A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has accused the leadership of the Minority Caucus of the National Assembly of unnecessary silence and indifference amid allegations of corruption against top government officials and some heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government.

Frank specifically said that the recent allegations of corruption against the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu and stolen crude worth $2.5billion from the nation’s oil giant ought to have caught the attention of the minority caucus if nothing was fishing.

He noted that Magu now suspended and being investigated, had levelled multiple accusations of against the AGF, Malami, over recovered assets and called on the presidential panel and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the AGF.

One of Magu’s lawyers, Tosin Ojaomo, had reportedly referred to a media report linking Malami to the alleged illegal sale of recovered assets, the sale of vessels, among others for which he (Malami) had threatened legal action against the news medium that reported his alleged complicity.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, Fank revealed that a motion expected to be read before the Eid-el-Kabir festivities was submitted to the minority caucus of the National Assembly but no action was taken by the members.

Frank said he is in possession reliable intelligence that the AGF had prevailed on the leadership of the National Assembly minority caucus, especially in the House of Representatives, to drop a motion ought to have been moved on the need to probe his (Malami) activities since 2015.

The Bayelsa-born political activist, however demanded that the minority caucus under Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, should break its silence and quickly act like a vibrant opposition voice in the National Assembly.

Frank said: "We have watched keenly the performances of the opposition caucus in the National Assembly and it has been nothing to write home about.

“Opposition lawmakers are the voice of the voiceless but the supposed voices in the National Assembly appear to have lost their voice to intimidation, fear and personal gains.

"I hereby call on the Hon. Elumelu not to compromise the trust reposed in him as the leader of opposition in the House of Representatives.

“Now that Ndudi’s party (PDP) has pardoned him and recognized his minority leadership of the House, it is a responsibility he must justify.

"Opposition lawmakers in the National Assembly should know that Nigerians are watching them on how they will distinguish themselves among the rubber stamp members of the hallowed chamber.

"The emerging corruption allegations especially as they affect the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, must be brought to the limelight by the opposition lawmakers, the stolen fund in the NNPC should not also be swept under the carpet, among other allegations of corruption rocking the APC’s administration.”

The outspoken activist asked the Elumelu minority caucus' leadership to immediately call for a Public Hearing and propel the National Assembly to embark on thorough investigation of all the allegations against some top members of the President, General Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

He also called on reputable Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), known human rights activists, Labour unions and student bodies not to keep quiet any longer on the malfeasance of the present administration.

He added that posterity will not forgive those who are deliberately keeping quiet and refuse to speak out for the betterment of Nigeria at this critical juncture in the nation’s history.

Politics / $2.5bn Stolen Crude: Frank Accuses Buhari Of Silence, Vows Mass Protest by Africafooty: 11:10am On Jul 30, 2020
$2.5bn stolen crude: Frank accuses Buhari of silence
...Vows mass protest against Fed Govt

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank on Thursday described the graveyard silence of the President, General Muhammadu Buhari-led regime’s silence over the $2.5billion stolen crude oil as evidence of complicity.

Documents recently unearthed showed how 48 million barrels of Nigeria's Bonny Light Crude, valued at $2.5 billion was stolen and sold in China by some officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in connivance with top functionaries of the Buhari’s regime.

Frank who made the assertion in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja said that the failure of the presidency to condemn the heinous crime and act to bring the conspirators to book can only point to tacit support by the Federal Government.

He wondered why history seems to have repeated itself under General Buhari as Minister of Petroleum Resources in the last five years.

He recalled the missing “53 suitcases” saga in 1984 when Buhari was Military Head of State. Again, $2.8billion oil money disappeared in similar circumstances when Buhari was federal commissioner in charge of Petroleum under the Olusegun Obasanjo regime in 1978.

He added that now another $2.5billion has again been allegedly stolen under the watchful eyes of Buhari as President in a democratic setting, “making it seems as if he has a penchant for missing money whenever he is in charge.”

The activist lamented that his earlier call on General Buhari to sack, arrest and prosecute government officials responsible for the reprehensible act fell on deaf ears.

He insisted that the silence of Buhari and the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, over the international embarrassment is a direct insult on Nigerians.

Frank vowed to mobilize both local and international mass protests against the federal government if it refuses to act, to ensure that “this crime against the Federal Republic of Nigeria, perpetuated by influential members of the present regime is not swept under the carpet as usual.”

Frank said: “It is almost a month since this international scandal against top officials of the present administration became public knowledge, yet, no action or reaction from the Federal Government as to seeking redress and sanction against perpetrators and their collaborators."

He, however, called on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), other labour unions and prominent Civil Society Organisations to speak up against what he described as looting of public treasury in the country.

“It is appalling to note that the Federal Government recently borrowed $3.4billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), yet it appears to see nothing wrong with a few officials pocketing $2.5 billion stolen oil cash.

“Buhari, in his capacity as the ‘African Union (AU) anti-corruption champion’ cannot afford to keep quiet over this mind-boggling rape on the nation’s common patrimony, an organized criminal activity that has further ruined the reputation of the country in the comity of nations.

“Those who committed this daylight robbery must of necessity be brought to immediate justice so as to deter other criminally-minded appointees out to make the world believe that anywhere you turn under Buhari’s administration you see corruption.

“I dare say that Nigerians and future generations will not forgive Buhari and his cabal, if the humongous amount involved in this open plunder is allowed to go without lawful investigation, arrest, prosecution and appropriate punishment served on the perpetrators and their collaborators - including the full recovery of the amount now cooling in the pockets of few fraudulent officials.

“The Chinese Government cannot also afford to be silent on this continental malfeasance which appears to have been coordinated and consummated in their domain.

“They must also ensure that any of their official found to have fraudulently aided the theft and sale of the $2.5billion Nigerian crude oil is made to face the law.

“I hereby call on Nigerians, wherever they are domiciled on the face of the earth, not only to condemn this brazen criminality but to demand urgent action from their elected representatives at all levels.”

He urged them to organize mass demonstrations if the Federal Government neglects to act to recover the $2.5billion now fraudulently cornered by the officials entrusted with the exploitation and sale of the nation’s natural endowments - meant for the overall development and benefit of the masses of this country.

Politics / $2.5bn Alleged Stolen Crude: Timi Frank Calls For Sack Of Mele Kyari by Africafooty: 9:45pm On Jul 27, 2020
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called for the immediate sack of the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Mele Kyari, over his complicity in the alleged $2.5billion stolen crude oil sold in China.

An online news platform recently revealed that about 48 million barrels of Nigeria's Bonny Light Crude, valued at $2.5 billion was stolen, sold in China and the proceed was allegedly shared by some top officials of the present administration.

Frank had in a statement following the revelation last week, called for the immediate arrest, investigation and prosecution of all those involved in the sale and diversion of the proceeds of the crude oil.

The political activist in a statement in Abuja on Monday specifically called for the sack and prosecution of Kyari following new evidence concerning his central role in the diversion of the nation’s common wealth as published by the same online portal.

Frank insisted that the new damning facts, laced with documentary evidence, only goes to show that the corruption level in the APC-led federal government, stinks to the skies with the President, General Muhammadu Buhari, being silent and unfortunately giving the impression of his complicity.

He expressed total disgust with the General Buhari-led government and accused it of being determined to cover up the theft of the $2.5 billion crude “despite the expose’ of this wicked and criminal act against Nigeria and Nigerians which has opened the country to international ridicule and shame.”

He urged the Government of the United States and all well-meaning nations to immediately call and impress it on General Buhari that the perpetrators of this dastardly act of criminality concerning the stolen $2.5 billion crude oil sold in China should be immediately arrested and prosecuted.

He described it as absurd for the perpetrators to have carried out the heist under the watchful eyes of General Buhari who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum Resources and also carries the toga of Africa’s No. 1 Anti-Corruption Crusader.

He noted that based on the attempt by the Buhari-led government to suppress the “exposed”, the online platform has further released more damning evidence about the sleaze which comprised of the letters and messages exchanged between the NNPC, officials the federal government and the legal representative of the whistleblower, SAMANO SA DE CV.

He insisted that Kyari should not be allowed to spend another 24 hours as GMD of NNPC, following the release of a throve of such damning evidence that are currently in public domain.

“The NNPC GMD has so many explanations to give to Nigerians as to the whereabouts or otherwise of the purported stolen $2.5billion crude oil sold in China.

“Kyari has to provide answers to this weighty allegations and Buhari’s refusal to order for an immediate investigation, which should trigger a suspension or sack of the NNPC GMD, by remaining silent can only mean acquiescence and complicity in the $2.5billion crude theft,” Frank said.

The new evidence as released, disclosed how the whistleblower wrote to the NNPC GMD on the crude theft and his request for the payment of his compensation for having blown the lid on the illegal sale of the 48million barrels of stolen crude oil in line with the whistleblower policy of the Federal Government.

“Nigerians must stand up now to ask questions as it concerns the theft and sale of the stolen crude oil and the whereabouts of the $2.5 billion proceeds,” Frank declared.
