How to join Ikoyi Club: A self-help guide for go-getters

If you're a top earner in your profession and you're looking for a prestigious club to join, Ikoyi Club is the place for you. But be warned: the application process is strict, and the requirements are high.

Step 1: Do you have the chops?

Before you even think about applying to Ikoyi Club, you need to make sure you meet the minimum requirements. These requirements are designed to ensure that only the most successful and accomplished individuals are admitted to the club.

Here's a quick rundown of the minimum requirements:

You must be at the top of your profession.
You must meet the specific requirements for your profession (listed below).
Minimum requirements for different professions:

Civil Service: Level 13
Parastatals: Equivalent of the above
Military: Colonel
Para-military: Assistant Comptroller or equivalent
Banks/Financial Institutions: Senior Manager
Insurance Company: Same as above
Oil Company with turnover of ₦50BN: Team Lead / 10 Years work experience
Company with minimum turnover of ₦5BN: Head of Department
Private Company with minimum turnover of ₦500m and above: General Manager
Private Company with turnover of ₦50m: Chairman/MD/ED/Equity partner
Professionals: 10 years in practice and must be a Partner in the company
Diplomatic Body: 3rd Secretary
Step 2: Get your hands on a WHITE FORM

Once you've confirmed that you meet the minimum requirements, it's time to get started on the application process. The first step is to obtain a WHITE FORM. This form can be obtained through a Financial ordinary member who has been a member for at least two years or a life member.

The fee for the WHITE FORM is ₦50,000.

Step 3: Ace your interview

Once you have completed the WHITE FORM, you will need to submit it to the membership manager. The membership sub-committee will then schedule an interview with you.

At the interview, you will be asked questions about your professional and personal life. It's important to be prepared to answer these questions thoughtfully and honestly.

Step 4: Get sponsored by two ordinary members

If the membership sub-committee is impressed with you, they will issue you with a GREEN FORM. You must then complete the GREEN FORM and be sponsored by two ordinary members who meet the following criteria:

Paid-up members
Members of the club for at least two years
Know you personally for five years or more
Your sponsors will need to write letters of recommendation for you, and they will also need to attend your interview with the General Committee.

Step 5: Pay the membership fee and get ready to mingle!

Once you have completed the GREEN FORM and been sponsored by two ordinary members, you will need to pay the membership fee to the club. You will then be given a temporary membership card, which is valid for three months.

After your three-month probation period, you will be formally inducted into the club. You will then be able to enjoy all of the benefits of being an Ikoyi Club member, including access to world-class facilities, networking opportunities, and a sense of community.

As preparations gear up for the 2024 Nigeria University Games (NUGA), Professor Tanko Ishaya, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, inaugurated a 27-member Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 27th edition of the games in Jos on Thursday.

Regarding the expectations of the University as the games approach, Professor Tanko Ishaya stated that the university has finalized plans to organize the best and most memorable NUGA games in history.

UNIJOS defeated Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to secure the hosting rights, while the University of Calabar withdrew its bid to host.

The Vice Chancellor, who promised to provide state-of-the-art facilities that athletes and officials can be proud of, explained that preparations are in full swing to ensure the success of the upcoming event.

"We have been eagerly anticipating this opportunity. We thank God and the people who made it possible for us to secure the hosting rights.
