lucabrasi: I stand by my earlier statement, I was kuku not talking to you but if the shoe fit nko, ! Sometimes Nollywood can be best summed up from the eyes of a stranger because some Nigerians do not see how it appeals to their base fears and desires and i think dude did a really nice job of illustrating that. You can line up where you want, mate. |

Pataki: Yes but what you fail to realise that norms are not fixed, there was a time it was the norm for black to be slaves, society expected blacks to conform to that norm, it was the norm for women to be subservient to their husbands and to have no aspirations. Who decides what these norms are, do we follow them involuntarily or can we challenge them? The tune of law is played by whichever tyrant holds they flute of power, were it be the case the people blindly conformed to norms, aparthied would be all the rage still and Britain would still a 2/3rds of the world. |

JustGood: I am not tryna force my view on anyone, it's just I am just rather baffled as to how people can blithely call for the random execution of other humans because of their sexual orientation, it leaves me astounded but I do not know why, I mean I am used to unabashed myopia from some NLer. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 6:54pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
Indeed, the fultility of this whole excercise just dawned on me, no minds are being changed here, just bigots hurling insults about other humans, folks unwillingly to see that different does not mean less than. Oh well. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 6:21pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
~davidylan: What?? 'Goat language' what the hell are you talking about? As for your 10 and 12yr olds, because sex is not just about the physical, (at least this is what I believe) it has emotional and sometimes physical repercussion that CHILDREN cannot deal with, which is why I am only concerned about CONSENTING ADULTS 'Goat language' thanks for the laugh. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 6:16pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
~davidylan: Only on NL will someone make the dubious claim that an 11yr is an adult, wow. Where in the industrialised world will this argument hold water, when I was eleven, I barely knew anything, much less consenting to sex. I think you are are being silly and you know it. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 6:13pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
~davidylan: Bloody hell, how hard is for you grasp that, beastiality is not the same thing, the goat does not get a choice, in paedophilia, the child is ABUSED how can you compare this with two people of the same gender who willingly want to be together, how is that even comparable, e gba mi! I am not sure if you mean multiple marriages or polygamy but in any case, so long as all the adults involved are aware and make that choice, i certainly do not have a problem with it. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 6:07pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
bawomolo: @Bawomolo, does this not prove that someone people have a basic comprehension problem. How hard is it to grasp the concept of CONSENTING ADULTS. Why do you people keep compraing things are not remotely comparable in order to bolster your weak arguments? |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 5:58pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
Dede1: Nobody drew an analogy between homosexuals and childless couples, someone said marriage is for procreation and I asked, if a couple cannot bear a child nko, is their marriage null? As for shooting me along with the homosexuals, well I am not coward, i speak on what I believe. Look at this fool, coming in here calling women the ugliest names he can think of, wow. I have found that those who are the most vehement homophobes tend to have something to hide. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 4:49pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
lucabrasi: Lol, half of what you wrote is fantanstical nonsense. I live in London, i have done so almost all my life and never have I come across any instance where it has been said or suggested that bestiality was some sorta acceptable norm, please stick with the truth. As for gay police officers not being treated right, they will at least have some some legal recompense because the law regonises their rights as fellow humans. This society is by no mean perfect but gay folks here can have civil union and go about their business, of course there are still homophobes because a change in law does not mean a change in hearts but it is a start. I am a staunch believer in the idea that any two adult or more , of full mental capacity, who decide to be together should be allowed, I do not know how people segue from this into bestiality and/or paedophilia (unless they are stating their own sexual desires, hmmn?) this is a society that puports to have such high moral has it priorities mangled and excercises such as yesterday's help to make this clear to the world. |

Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 4:08pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
lucabrasi: This is the biggest pile of rubbish I have read in a while. Religion only plays a prima facie role, if truly it governed the way our politicians behaved, they would not be as corrupt as they are be it in terms of federal funds or sleeping with people young enough to be their offspring, essentially we live in a society where the moral fabric has long ago rotted, leaving in its wake chaos. With all our so called moral supreriority to the west, look at how this country treats it neediest, they are subjected to the capricous nature of messed up society where money is the arbiter of life and death. At least in the west, they recognise that being homosexual does not render you subhuman. Denying someone else the right to be who they are, is denying yourself the right to be who you are, you just do not know it yet. |

Dis Guy: Because democracy is also about protecting the minority(ies) from the tyranny of the majority. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 3:52pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
JustGood: Lol, if democracy was all about the majority imposing their will on the minority then God help us all. For me democracy is essentially about the right for ALL citizens to have their voices heard and the right to be duly represented. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 3:42pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
JustGood: And what would their democratic values be, please expand on this. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 3:33pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
AfroCynic: Please show where it is I suggested this to be the case. someone posed the argument that marriage is for procreation and I feel it is a rather redundant one, some m/f couples cannot procreate, does that mean that their marriage is invalid? Some people procreate outside of marriage, what does make of them? Marriage has to be more than making children because the former is not necessary in order for the latter to come about, you dig? So what then would be your opposition to gay couples having their own union? |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 3:13pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
JustGood: Because an adult forcing himself/herself on a child, armed thugs depriving people of their lives, limbs and belongings is in no way comparable to two consenting adults being together, loving each other, that's why. |

My criteria for engagement goes as follows; No biting, Do not say things you will back away from Any and everything you say can and will be used against you. That's it. |
Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by AfroCynic: 2:57pm On Mar 12, 2009 |
georgecso: If the sole purpose of marriage is procreation, what about couple who are unable to have children what does that make them? To be honest, I think the way any society treat its minority is indicative of of its collective morality. Gay people exist, it is not a European fad, it is a human thing and so long as that is the case, we owe to ourselves, to our conscience to treat them as such. I think the disservice we do to each other is to assume that it is not talked about means that it does not exist, do not fool yourself. That these people could risk life and limb to present their case at the national assembly says a lot. I think it is a shame that any so called democracy in 2008 should pass law discriminating against ANY minority in its society, this is my take on the matter. |

afam4eva: A great man once said, 'who the cap fits, let him wear it' it never stops being what it is, your statements give certain things away and the word that you claim is tired is a nice succinct way of telling you what you are. |
