Politics / NNPP S'west Leader, Olopoeyan Cautions Tinubu, APC Over Desperation To Get Kano by Ajokeolore: 5:14pm On Nov 20, 2023
NNPP S'West Leader, Olopoeyan Cautions Tinubu, APC Over Desperation To Get Kano

SOUTHWEST zone of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), yesterday, appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against plunging Kano State into chaos because of their desperation to unseat Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Leader of the Southwest NNPP, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan, called for caution over what he described as desperation on APC and the presidency to use the instrumentality of the courts to overturn the popular wish of the electorate.

Olopoeyan said it beats human logic that what the tribunal upheld to sack Yusuf was different from what the Justices of the Appeal Court upheld.

According to him, "The stakeholders involved in the shenanigan must realize the serious implications of teleguiding the courts to subvert the popular vote of Kano Stage."

Olopoeyan said the desperation demonstrated by APC is simply to have Kano State under the party's total control ahead of 2027 is ridiculous.

He said, "It is either they plunged Kano into a kiosk because Governor Yusuf in Kano, and as long as he contests he will always win."

He said the APC as a party can't withstand the political clout of Governor Yusuf Abba in Kano, thereby advising APC leaders and national chairman, Umar Ganduje to accept their weakness and embrace the ordained man from NNPP.

" At the moment, APC can't match the political might and people's love for Abba in Kano, he won them at the 2019 governorship race when he contested under PDP but they cornered the victory, now in 2023, Abba moved to a new party, he still won again with a landslide victory, but they still want to steal his mandate again, it is high time Ganduje, and his APC leaders stopped chasing shadow in Kano politics, the more they try to bring Abba down, the more he disgraces them at every chance, and am saying this, 2027 will be worse for APC in Kano, if they don't embrace Abba's political supremacy now.

The NNPP stalwart also frowned at the way elections are now being won through the court instead of the electorate.

He said the judgment of the Abuja Appeal Court in the Kano election on Friday, which sacked Governor Yusuf of NNPP is ambiguous and unacceptable.

"I trust the Supreme Court would do necessary justice. I also admonished President Tinubu not to ever think of taking Kano ahead of his reelection.

Olopoeyan dismissed as mere rumor that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is the presidential candidate in 2023, has sold NNPP out to APC and President Tinubu, just as he maintained there was no religious or traditional institutional undertone in the ongoing trial.

The Ibadan-based politicians also expressed worry over the credibility of the 2022 Amended Electoral Act. "The 2022 Electoral ACT signed into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari did not change or improve anything.

Recall that The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, nullified the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State.

The appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices, held that Governor Yusuf was not a valid candidate in the gubernatorial election held in the state on March 18.

It maintained that evidence that was adduced by the parties established that Governor Yusuf was not a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, at the time the election was held.

According to the court, Yusuf, under section Llĺ8177(c) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, was not qualified to contest the governorship election since he was not validly sponsored by the NNPP.

Politics / Re: Sultan To Commission Ultra-modern Mosque Built By Gov. Makinde On Thursday by Ajokeolore: 4:05pm On Nov 14, 2023
Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, will on Thursday dedicate and open for use an ultra-modern Central Mosque donated to the Muslim community by Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde.

The newly built ultra-modern Central Mosque by Governor Makinde was erected to replace the demolished Adogba Central Mosque.

The demolished Adogba Mosque was built years ago by Saudi-based
humanitarian organization "Haramain" at Iwo Road, Opposite World Oil Fuel station. It was demolished by the Oyo state government to make room for the construction of the new bus terminal, which was one of Governor Seyi Makinde's goals after becoming the governor of Oyo State.

Iwo Road was said to have been
designated as one of the terminals
destinations because of its advantageous location. The then Adogba Mosque was thereafter marked for demolition as part of the process of sketching out methods to carry out the Bus terminal program

Thou, the mark for demolition drew questions from the Mosque management and some Muslims in Oyo state. However, the Governor stepped in and persuaded the management and Muslim community that a better mosque would be constructed for them in place of the destroyed mosque.

Ultimately, a new location for the Adogba mosque structure was chosen, and construction got underway.  After
anticipation, the mosque was
eventually finished and constructed.

A mini hall, Arabic learning center, and other facilities were put in place at the new Mosque to uplift the morale and spiritual and material development of the Ummah.

The commissioning ceremony will be performed by the Sultan of Sokoto who is also the head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in a ceremony that will kick off at 10.00 am on Thursday. Muslim leaders in Oyo state and across southwest is expected to grace the Mosque commissioning.

An appeal has gone to the State workers to compliment the efforts of the State government on their welfare by being reflective when considering a nationwide strike.

According to a release by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, no state in the federation places more emphasis on the well-being of its workers than the present administration.

It will be recalled that the State NLC gave the State government till the end of October 2023 to increase the minimum wage by N30,000 for civil servants and N20,000 for pensioners, as approved by the Federal government, to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

He noted further that Engr. Makinde-led administration has consistently paid workers’ salaries on or before the 25th of every month for 55 months and paid 113th-month salaries for 4 years, which now includes state pensioners.

The Commissioner asked workers and the people of the State to remember that the Seyi Makinde-led administration at inception increased payment of gratuities of pensioners from N100m to over N200m every month.

Prince Oyelade noted that without being encouraged by the state NLC, the State governor out of his discretion, set up a committee

Ibadan SW/NW: Tribunal Affirms PDP, Adedeji's Victory, Dismisses APC, Fijabi's Petition

The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Wednessday affirmed the victory and re-election of Hon. Olajide Adedeji Stanley of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ibadan South West/North West federal constituency of Oyo State, while dismissing the petition filed by Akinade Saheed Fijabi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the 1 hour, 10 minutes judgment read by the Chairman of the panel, Justice Sobere Biambo, which was unanimously adopted by the two other Justices: Z.A. Zadat and Shaffau Lada Yusuff, the tribunal dismissed the petition with N1m cost to each of the respondents. Justice Zadat in her adoption of the judgment, however, refused to make an order for cost, saying," all parties should bear their costs".

Fijabi, a former House of Representatives member for the constituency, had filed the petition through Kazeem Gbadanosi (SAN) claiming against the INEC that election did not hold in three of the 713 polling units in the constituency and that BVAS machines did not work there: as well as, that "the election was vitiated by mandatory non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022; there was allegation of over-voting, and that conduct of the election was unlawful, undue, null and void".

The party called five witnesses including the candidate, Fijabi, and prayed the tribunal to deduct the results recorded for the three units from the totality of the ones declared, or rather nullify and cancel the entire election.

The INEC, Adedeji and the PDP had contended that the petition be struck out or dismissed in its entirety with substantial cost as: "it is incompetent, gold-digging and frivolous. They claimed that there were no irregularities as alleged, and that Adedeji won the election back to the House of Representatives.

Yusuff O. Ogunrinde, Joseph Adeoye and R.O. Solahudeen had represented Adedeji (a.k.a. Odidiomo) and the PDP at the tribunal.

The tribunal in the judgment found that Fijabi in his testimony said that all the information he heard concerning the election results were supplied to him by his party agents after he had voted in his Unit 58 of Ward 2, and left. He said he was not there when the result was declared.

The tribunal said it discovered that there were mutilations on some electoral materials tendered and there were no explanations; that there were irregular and suspicious alterations, illegible records in some documents tendered, that did not tally with the pleadings. They were accordingly discountenanced and rejected for not having probative value.

"None of the five witnesses frankly proved the allegations contained in their reliefs, and evidence given amounted to hearsay. PW5 did not know if the election was credible but that he left after voting. Those present or on the field are the ones who can talk or testify on the documents.

"On the allegation of over-voting, Voters Register, BVAS report must be presented, but the petitioners failed to prove this. The allegations made by the petitioners are imaginative which are not admissible in law. The tribunal holds that the election was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

"The tribunal therefore holds that the petitioners did not substantially prove their case on merit. It is hereby dismissed with a cost of N1m to each of the respondents", it so ordered.

Properties / Oyo Govt Serves Contravention Notices On Illegal Buildings In Gras by Ajokeolore: 9:18pm On Aug 21, 2023
The Oyo State Government has served contravention notices on the owners of illegal structures, and disused buildings at Kolapo Ishola, Carlton Gate Estates, in Ibadan.

The action, according to the new commissioner for lands, housing, and urban developments, Mr. Akin Funmilayo Williams said was part of Governor Seyi Makinde's Omititun 2.0 road map for sustainable developments in enforcing the state's original approved plan on every building to avert avoidable casualties.

Akin Funmilayo, and the Ministry permanent secretary, Mrs. Mofoluke Adegbiyi, had earlier today been a public holiday marked out for the Isese Day celebration, led the enforcement team, on an On- spot assessment of residential estates ensuring prompt enforcement towards notifying occupants, who had unapproved structures that contravened the state's original approved plan.

The Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Akin Funmilayo Williams disclosed that the government has decided to begin absolute monitoring and enforcement on illegal structures, and disused buildings within the state, noting that the enforcement of the contravention notices would continue till every building is notified.

He said the enforcement exercise would be confined to the major streets and roads stating that the enforcement team had covered some residential buildings in the GRA.

He explained that the service of contravention notices and subsequent enforcement followed after its prior assessment of failure by most landed property owners to obtain or follow the approved plan, having had several weeks of sensitization campaigns, which he said, were carried out by the State enforcement team.

He explained that the renewed enforcement would be in phases in line with the commitment of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to restore the original approved plan of housing structures.

He urged all residents in the areas to feel free to ventilate any new observations or reports about environmental nuisances that may have been missed out to the task force through the various resident associations for immediate action.

Crime / Olubadan Suspends Gov. Makinde's Loyalist, Mogaji Wale Oladoja over Land Dispute by Ajokeolore: 5:49pm On Aug 18, 2023
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, on Friday, ordered the immediate suspension of one of his Mogajis, Chief Olawale Oladoja, Mogaji Akinsola, following his dastard activities in the Akinsola Village in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The community came into the limelight on Thursday, following the clamping down on the residents of the community by the Mogaji Akinsola, claiming that he had gotten court judgments to prove that the land upon which they built their houses was not legally sold to them.

It would be recalled that about 200 houses in the community under reference were on Wednesday put under lock and key and red- marked which he said, was to prove his being in charge.

The action threw the residents out of their houses, leading some of them to sleep in the open throughout the night following which they protested to the Olubadan Palace on Thursday.

The complaints and the public outcry that greeted the matter which trended on the internet led to the emergency meeting conveyed on Friday, which had in attendance the Olubadan, some of the members of his Advisory Council, the representatives of Ibadan Mogajis led by Chief Asimiyu Adepoju Ariori, Mogaji Akinsola and the representatives of the residents and where the decision to suspend the Mogaji and other actions were taken.

Briefing the press after the meeting, the Personal Assistant (Media) to Olubadan, Oladele Ogunsola disclosed that three communities, Akinsola, Aponmode and Labinkulu were actually affected by the action with the other two communities as represented by Baale Aponmode, Dauda Bolarinwa Aponmode and Morufu Raufu, relaying how they were recruited by Mogaji Akinsola to join him in reclaiming the land from the landlords and how they turned him down.

In his presentation, Mogaji Akinsola told the monarch and his members of Advisory Council that he made several attempts to resolve the matter before he decided to take action.

He disclosed that the matter was also reported to the palace and moves were being made to intervene but didn’t wait for the conclusion of the palace intervention before he approached the security agents for the execution of the court judgment that gave his family the right of ownership of the disputed land.

The Ashipa Olubadan, Oba Biodun Kola-Daisi who read the riot act on behalf of the Olubadan Advisory Council said: “Several facts were established here today and they pointed to the fact that Mogaji Akinsola didn’t follow the code of conduct usually handed down to both Mogajis and Baales when being appointed.”

“In this instance, the case was already in the Palace, but, did you inform the palace before the police was invited?”

“Your action inconvenient, embarrassed the Olubadan stool and the Ibadanland. You crossed the line and the Council has decided that you be suspended as Mogaji, you are ordered to tender public apology to the people inconvenienced.”

“You defied Olubadan, took laws into your hands by going ahead to take such drastic decision. This will serve as deterrents to others who fail to appreciate and recognize the responsibility their position as either Baale or Mogaji entails.”

“Your suspension will last for as long as it takes to resolve the problem you have created,” Ashipa Olubadan added.

Politics / Makinde Rolls Out Palliatives For Oyo Residents, To Remit Worker's Deductions by Ajokeolore: 10:35pm On Aug 05, 2023
Makinde Rolls Out Palliatives For Oyo Residents, Remits Cooperatives Deductions For Workers

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, announced the short-term plans of the administration to mitigate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on residents of the state, saying that his administration will continue to put the interest of the people first.

The governor, who gave this indication in a state-wide broadcast, maintained that food security, transportation and the sectors are among the immediate areas being targeted by the government to alleviate the economic difficulties facing residents of the state.

This was as the governor directed civil servants to resume to their duty posts on Monday, as his government will pay the two months deductions owed the workers with their August salary, while it will also explore further options on dialogue.

He noted that the government remained open to parleying with labour to ensure that the rights of the workers of Oyo State are protected.

He encouraged the union leaders to return to the negotiating table to discuss any increases in salary or possible harmonisation of pension payments.

Governor Makinde had, earlier in June 2023, announced measures to cushion the hardship faced by the people following the removal of fuel subsidy, including increasing the number of Omituntun Buses on various routes in Ibadan, the state capital and reduction of fares for all residents, including senior citizens and students, who were to pay half prices.

The governor, on Saturday, however, stated that in line with his promise to do more, the administration has arrived at decisions, which will benefit a majority of the people in the state, while it continues to explore other measures.

He said: “I am addressing you today to share our short-term plans, which will play a huge role in alleviating the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies and the resultant economic difficulties being faced by our people. You will recall that on June 9, 2023, following the removal of fuel subsidy, we announced measures to be taken to cushion the effect of the removal.

“We gave directives that the number of Omituntun Buses on various routes in Ibadan should be increased and that commuters must pay a reduced fare on these buses. Additionally, our senior citizens and students should board the buses at half price. We have received feedback that this immediate action has benefited our people.

“We promised that more will be done. Our plan has always been to roll out sustainable actions in keeping with our promise of sustainable development under Omituntun 2.0. Having been in government for the first four years, we know it is easier to make promises than to keep them.

“After wide consultations, we have arrived at decisions that we believe will be of the most benefit to the good people of Oyo State. In reaching these decisions, we considered the importance of using these economic packages to stimulate our economy and bring about sustainable development.”

The governor, who maintained that the short-term plans tagged the Sustainable Actions for Economic Recovery (SAfER) will target the poorest of the poor and the vulnerable and ensure a softer landing for them, said the action plans would also ease the burden of transportation for all residents and the civil servants and also address the challenges of food security.

He stated that under the SAfEr package, agropreneurs trained under the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP), who have established agribusinesses will receive enterprise support of five hundred million naira (N500,000,000), while small businesses will benefit from low-interest-rate loans with the provision of five hundred million naira (N500,000,000) facility.

He added that the state government is already updating its social register to capture 200,000 of the poorest of the poor, who will be provided with food relief packages and that 100,000 health insurance packages will be rolled out for the vulnerable in the society.

According to the governor, the services of the Omituntun Mass Transit Buses will be extended to cover inter-city routes across all the five zones of the state and that more Buses will be provided for the transportation of civil servants in the state.

“Let me now share details of our SAfER package. Following the pattern of our actions during the COVID-19 pandemic,we are updating our social register to include two hundred thousand (200,000) of the poorest of the poor. These will be provided with immediate food relief packages. As usual, we will ensure transparency in the registration process so that only those who qualify will get this immediate relief.

“We will be providing health insurance for 100,000 of our most vulnerable citizens. We will be paying their one-year health insurance premium under the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) scheme so that they have access to quality healthcare without paying out of pocket.

“The Omituntun Busservice will be extended to cover inter-city routes from Ibadan to all other zones of Oyo State. Details of their routes will be released in the coming weeks. So, we will have buses going from Ibadan to Ibarapa, Ibadan to Ogbomoso, Ibadan to Oke-Ogun and Ibadan to Oyo. The fares will be kept at low rates, while our senior citizens and students will board the buses at half price.

“Our farmers have not been left out. To ensure food security, we will be distributing additional inputs to 10,000 farmers. This is in addition to the input support being provided under the World Bank assisted OYS-CARES programme. Further details will be released through the relevant agencies in the coming weeks.

“Our youth agropreneurs who were trained under the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP) and have established businesses will also have an opportunity to contribute to food security and sustainable development as they will receive enterprise support of five hundred million naira (N500,000,000) under the SAfER package. They will get further directives on how they will benefit from the relevant agencies.

“We have also resolved to assist small businesses to stay afloat through low-interest-rate loans with the provision of a five hundred million naira (N500,000,000) facility. Our traders, artisans and other small business operators can apply for these loans through designated micro-finance banks. Details of how they may enroll for and access these loans will be announced by the relevant agencies.

“Tertiary institution students in Oyo State will board the Omituntun Buses at half price upon showing their school identity card. We will also be meeting with the student leaders of tertiary institutions in Oyo State to agree on further measures which will be added to the SAfER package for students,” he added.

Addressing the protest and blockage of entry points into the Secretariat, the governor stated that his government has been one of the states that are favourably committed to workers’ welfare since he assumed office in 2019, saying: “We have paid all civil servants’ salaries and pensions on or before the 25th of every month without fail. And since January 2020, we have paid the minimum wage and consequential adjustments to all cadres of civil servants every month without fail.

“Presently, the civil servants’ wage bill stands at N7.2 billion monthly. We have continued to pay this despite having a state revenue of just below N10 billion monthly. It is, therefore, clear to understand why any increase in salaries or pensions may not be possible at this time.

He, however, announced that apart from the payment of the cooperatives deduction to be effected and paid with August salaries, the government will increase the number of buses made available for civil servants to commute to and from work from 9 to 12, so that more routes are covered to lessen the transportation burden of workers.

He further stated that the government will pay the health insurance premium for all pensioners under the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) scheme and that any pensioner who already made payment will be refunded.

He equally stated that the government will resume the monthly payment of gratuities to pensito as to continue to clear the backlog of gratuity payments inherited by our administration.

Politics / Oyo Govt Calls Labor To Dialogue, Says Arrears Owed By State Is Least Across Nig by Ajokeolore: 3:59pm On Jul 31, 2023
The Oyo State Government has rallied the Nigeria Labour Congress to discuss the issue of salary deductions exhaustively, before embarking on any form of protest.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Oyo State Government said only three months and not six months are owed workers.

The statement added that every State in the federation owes workers salary deductions and the three months owed by Oyo State is the least.

According to the Commissioner, the NLC had shown over the years that they are in support of the present administration because of good governance but asked them to reflect on the disposition of government to workers’ welfare.

While the July salaries have been paid in Oyo State, not less than 20 states including Ondo, Plateau, Benue, and Bayelsa are owing several months of salaries in arrears, while several more including neighboring states are owing months of deduction arrears.

Oyo State Government started the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage three years ago, yet up till now many states are still struggling to pay the old wage.

While it is the Right and Entitlement of our workers to access their wages, especially at these tough times, Government implores them to reflect on the sincerity of the purpose of this administration.

The statement said despite the challenges of paying wages, over 2,000 civil servants have been promoted, while almost 1,000 others have been converted to regular service.

For the records, Oyo State pays N7.3bn monthly as salaries, yet collects N5bn as Federal Allocation.

Because of this, all the N2.8bn raked in as Internally Generated Revenue IGR is plowed back literally to service salaries.

Prince Oyelade said Government deserves a pat on the back, if despite this tightrope Government still embarks on such a magnitude of infrastructural projects, that even the NLC has applauded numerously.

Eminent pundits, including the current Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki have predicted that no state will be able to pay salaries by the end of June this year because of the worsening shape of the economy but Oyo State due to the deft husbanding of the state resources by Gov Seyi Makinde has defied the doomsday prediction.

This is why the State Government is confident that the NLC will come to the negotiating table and together with the Government chart a realistic path in balancing the welfare of the workers to which the Government is committed and the unpleasant economic indices that stare all of us in the face.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government urges workers to resume their duty posts and continue the good work they are known for.

Politics / Tinubu Is Losing Popularity In Oyo Over Bayo Adelabu’s Nomination As Minister by Ajokeolore: 1:47pm On Jul 30, 2023
Tinubu Is Losing His Popularity In Oyo Over Bayo Adelabu’s Nomination As Minister - Oyo APC Group

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter on Sunday criticized the nomination of Chief Bayo Adelabu by President Bola Tinubu as a minister-designate from Oyo State in the impending federal cabinet.

The group, Progressives Justice Mandate (PJM) in a statement by its State Coordinator, Bolaji Ayinde queried why the president who was widely known and believed to always reward ‘hard work and party loyalty’ suddenly jettisoned these, to zero in on Adelabu against other qualified and loyal supporters of his recent presidential candidature.

Ayinde in a 2-page statement made available to journalists in Ibadan said Tinubu is losing his popularity amongst the people of Oyo State and needs to watch it, ‘because Ibadan and Oyo State should not be toyed with as growing discontent among our people rages’.

According to Ayinde, “Bayo is a selfish individual who despite making fortunes in his private and public life has never been a pro-masses personality; to support community needs or part with part of the wealth he accrued over the years for the good of others.

“Can anyone point to transformers supplied to communities, roads rehabilitated or reconstructed by Bayo Adelabu to alleviate people’s sufferings in his immediate environment or any part of Ibadanland or any part of our State?

“Where lie his palliatives to the suffering masses? He has never been known to play any significant role in the development of Oyo State. Let him point out individuals he has used his positions in the past to promote and elevate in Ibadan, let alone across the State.

“All Bayo Adelabu could boast of is his economic expansion of hotel businesses everywhere in Ibadan to shore his wealth. He has never been known or seen to use the resources at his disposal for the good of others.

“No wonder his nomination hasn’t gained traction and popularity amongst the people of Oyo State since the announcement was made on the floor of the National Assembly last Thursday. No general acceptability has greeted his nomination almost 96 hours after the Senate President made President’s ministerial list public.

“Market men and women; Baales; Mogajis and very many other people including Artisans and Students are not happy with Adelabu’s nomination and Mr President should know this for posterity's sake. How can a man who left our party for Accord and scored about 38,357 votes be so rewarded with such a top position?

“The 2023 election exposed Bayo Adelabu as an unpopular politician who only latched on the influence of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of blessed memory to record better results in 2019 as our gubernatorial candidate then.

“Is Mr. President trying to make Adelabu the gubernatorial candidate of our party in 2027 using the ministerial position as a precursor to prepare him for the race against the wishes of the people and our party?

“Mr President ought to have engaged in wide consultations with critical stakeholders within our party, APC, and outside of it especially as it concerns stakeholders who made it possible for him to record landslide victories in the State and across Southwest Nigeria.

“Though he is not our fan it is on record that Governor Seyi Makinde has been a great supporter of people’s needs as a philanthropist of note long before he became Governor of the State. Did Mr. President consult him (Mr. Governor) on the suitability or otherwise of Bayo Adelabu for that position?

“Another man that worked for Mr. President’s victory using his resources to host several Southwest rallies at his Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort is Engr Dotun Sanusi who obviously would never be interested in becoming a minister but there are other qualified, loyal, and experienced people within the APC and outside of it that. Mr. President could have been nominated for the position.

“On this nomination, the president hasn’t rewarded loyalty, and he was never known to be a man who doesn’t reward party loyalty. This came as a rude shock and surprise to many people.

“It is our considered opinion that Mr. President should always confer on the Governor who worked for his ascendancy to power alongside other G5 Governors to decimate the PDP.

“And if he is not comfortable with the Governor, people like Engr Dotun Sanusi, who was reported as having no interest in gaining any pecuniary and personal interest after his huge investments, from both the State and Federal Governments, should be contacted to make informed recommendations on matters affecting our State and political considerations to be sure that only those who worked and mobilized for Mr President are given their due respect and recognition, going forward,” Ayinde fumed.
