Senior if you understand where I am coming from and have worn my shoes you won't only be preaching but will be shouting out on rooftops.

See me wey them reject for Nigeria, roaming about without job for the past 20months, only to enter Canada and made management in the biggest brewing company in the world in less than 3months, and you say it's not God.

Forget that Alberta effect thing for once and see the peculiarity of my case. Am I the only immigrant that landed Alberta in the past 6months? I'm I the only one who attended job seminars? What are the odds of something like this happening? Heck, even the people where I work keep telling me they haven't witnessed such a thing. That I just broke a record! Who I sabi for Canada. I've never even been to Cotonou before I took the leap of faith to come here.

I'm not saying that I'm special in any way to others but when I attribute my success to God I know what I'm saying. If I don't speak the truth and take God's glory for myself then I'm not worthy of any of his favours. That's why I'm encouraging others to believe.

Work as though it all depends on your work, and pray as though it all depends on God. We will all have and share our testimonies

Bro... I disagree with the boldened o.

YOU ARE SPECIAL IN YOUR OWN WAY...A TESTIMONY OF GRACE AND FAVOUR...
I can only smile and praise God because you are a constant reminder that he never leaves us.

He will bless us all with inexplicable grace and favours in our new home. Amen!

Hello Guys, I've been away for so long I know. The last days before departure and settling in after departure can be a bit challenging. Below is my landing gist:

We're a family of 4. (3 yr old son and 1 yr old daughter)

Our Ethiopian airline flight was scheduled for 1.40pm. We arrived the airport at 9.30am with 8 check-in bags and 3 hand luggage with baby diaper bag.

Our items were weighed and advised to pay $220 for the extra luggage which we did. The other bags were overweight by a cumulative of 4kg and I took out a pack of beans and a bottle.

Welcome home jare!
Feels good reading landing jists like this.

Pls your 1yr old's checked in lugagge...were they strict on it being (1)10kg?? Or they allowed 23kg since t can only be 1??

All in all the journey was ok, the children behaved themselves especially my 2 year old that I was really concerned about.

This is the end of my story, thank you.

Yipeeee. Mamajay done land.
Thank God for a smooth trip.

Outta curiosity tho, ur excess luggage... Did u have to pay for the extra 7kg on each of the 9 overweight bags? Or the airline checked in free??

Due to black ice, I once witnessed a car spin 3 times on highway 1 west before ending up in a ditch. It happened so fast and was a frightening experience... luckily the guy was okay. I do not blame some drivers that jump on a public transport when the roads are terrible. The gov is really trying when it comes to clearing the ice on the road.

That guy that spun 3 times was me grin

Lwkmd. Your posts are very educative and you always manage to add a touch of humour even in scary times. Kudos boss.

Hi, you can also get tinned palm oil from the Asian (Chinese) stores like Grant's Foodmart. All the Oceans Fresh Food Market stores (Chinese owned) have assorted fish & meat selections with entrails if you want. In this winter, pepper soup is a must to help you cope for the 5 months ahead.

For more meat, try Kabul Farms Supermarket at 255 Dundas St West in Mississauga. If you don't mind going far then Laurie Meat is good at 1696 Jane Street, at Jane and Lawrence West, York/Toronto but I personally prefer Sisi Meats at 2734 Jane Street, Toronto. The owner, Dominic, an Italian, is much neater than Laurie and I always go to him for full goat.

For occasional cooked meals, try Village Suya at 900 Rathburn Road West, Mississauga. Evcen oyinbos recommend the place. Another one to try if you like to stroll is Get Grill at 7910 Hurontario St, Brampton. Hope these help.

Hope these help ke?? Oga sir! I hail o. These more than helps. Even me in Naija is taking notes already. I dnt intend on Toronto but, if i ever do i'm sure to visit you and madam.

Foodie toh bhad!

So we landed in Calgary 5 days ago.

All the best to us all!

It can be a little disheartening waiting for London to review files. Especially having stayed a full 3months at NA2 and heading on 5months post AOR.

HOWEVER reading stories like yours brings a smile to my face. I can only think of d days ahead. Of landing and house haunting and health service and a better life; Esp for our kids.

All the best sis...will definitely buzz you for tips when our time comes.

Someone asked abiut drivers license and frsc abstract in Alberta. Can't remember the moniker. I didn't use an frsc letter or abstract for my DL here. Just my Nigerian license was sufficient.

@ajujuju2, you'll be fine dear. I am able to cope with everything else but home schooling is not one of my strengths. I have adjusted my monthly expenses to include the cost of child care. My toddler goes to a dayhome now. The 4 months he was home with us was h-e-l-l. I mean I love my son but he is that child who lives for the great outdoors and social interaction and can drive you crazy when he's home daily. He goes there at about 8am till 5pm with varied hours sometimes dependent on my availability.

Thanks sis. God is your strength.

Well. Info may still be valid to an extent but confirm the most recent info on individual bank's website. Dynamics of banking changes time after time because it's a very competitive business environment. Canada has one of the best banking systems in the world but surely not the best based on my own experience.

I am yet to see a Canadian bank that offers a service close to what my former bank outside Canada offers, despite paying similar fees for both after converting exchange rate. I am talking about special credit cad rate, free family travel insurance, free car breakdown cover, special customer rates for PTA, free mobile phone insurance to the tune of $1500, free discounts at restaurants and a free family discount for national parks entry (twice a year). If anyone knows a canadian bank that offers such reward on a chequing account, please let me know ooo.lol

One of the things you would quickly learn about us Canadians is national pride just like the Americans too. We like to believe everything Canadian is the best if not the best in the world grin

All I saw was WE CANADIANS THE BEST IN THE WORLD...

Long post alert.

The next day, my village people led me to the airport (with all pomp and pageantry) but unfortunately for them i was only allowed in with one person so they waited outside without me knowing. Two of my boxes were a bit above 23kg one was 24 and the other 25. the guy there told me to move somethings to my hand luggage since it was not up to 10kg which i did and thanked the guy.(you know wharimean). Even the lady that helped me fill a yellow form i also thanked her and she was demanding i thank the guy that led me to her.(haba, i be mother christmas)Just before we took off i got a call from my village people that they were waiting to take pictures with me. By then i had already boarded the plane (I just love my family).

We took off (egypt air) and immediately the guy sitting by the window needed to use the loo so i stood up for him. ( i always like the aisle to stretch my legs). One of the air host walked up to me to ask if i had any issue, the lady in front of us who had occupied a stretch of 3 seats before my omugo friend came to share the seats with her told the air host that i was uncomfortable, immediately she told him to look for unoccupied seats for me but i told the air host i wont mind a business class seat. the lady that was canvassing for unoccupied seats for me turned to him and said "She is a dreamer" and we all burst out laughing. I made that demand because i remember my pastor sharing a testimony of how they upgraded his daughter to business class without her paying anything extra so i wanted to faith it out too.

These paragraphs got me laughing hard. But being Igbo and knowing my family, I can expect same when we leave...

In thick Igbo accent:
Bhet why willi someborry want handshake untop nothing? Airport staff need orientation biko.
