Car Talk / Re: Thor Reveals 300-mile ET1 Electric Truck, Aim To Go On Sale Before Tesla Semi by akabad: 9:27am On Jan 06, 2018
Batteries are here to stay.
Most people that still believe in internal combustion engines and think oil will save you should think deep.
This country has to rely on the private sectors for any sort of break through because government is simply about what can I do in the shortest time frame to show people I am working and how much can I steal to last my generation
Just sad

Just a point to note, London famous black cabd will be replaced with EV, so imagine how many charging points there will be in london alone.
The more there are, the more competition, the more prices go down.

I have seen a start up that wants to use street lights as charging points, so imagine a street that has as many as you can count lights, all been charging station.

Lexusgs430:

When all private parking space providers also invest in charging points, the unforseen limitations would be absorbed by the extra capacity.....
Car Talk / Re: Nairalander Orders Tesla Model X (100% Battery Empowered) by akabad: 4:40pm On Oct 05, 2017
also i think this is speculative,
Depending on your area, you can get longer times, however - there are more places to charge other than street, I have a massive IKEA close to me that offer free charging, I have a train station close to me that also offers free charging, most hotels do free charging plus a massive Tesla centre close to my house that offers free charging

on a diff note, you can charge up to 170 miles in 30 mins, thats like stopping on the motor way to use the toilet, grab a snack and stretch your leg

https://www.tesla.com/en_GB/charging

Lexusgs430:

The parking ticket can be changed, once UK can boost of 60% EV on its roads......

The council that restricted it to 4 hours, can simply increase or decrease that limitation........

I am sure you will have guessed I am just picking all these messages now, however, I have mentioned my work routine, but the cost of charging a Tesla is very low, Economy 7 or not, I dont want to say its similar to charging your phone (because its not) but if a full charge is £9 compared to a full tank in 3 Litre Audi that is £120 then its a no brainer

Lexusgs430:

He might be on an Economy 7, hence the ability or illusion to charge his Tesla off peak (maybe he works at night).... And plays during the day.
Car Talk / Re: Nairalander Orders Tesla Model X (100% Battery Empowered) by akabad: 4:31pm On Oct 05, 2017
Not sure where you got that review from but can guarantee thats a long time review that is no longer valid.

Noise gone, car parked sideways - Questionable why a car will park side ways but still the same you can bring out your phone and 'Summon' the car, also takes care of tight spaces

In regards to Trims, thats also long gone.
(a full review coming) dont worry, on a different note, i have owned & driven other top end cars, I have seen snags come off and poor finishing on others, and the response they give you is incredible. Not Tesla

erico2k2:

ahah yessooo, but i still dont think this car is practical, you cant open the back door in a low car park, and if you park in tesco, and another car park sideways that door wont open,External noise is amplified and the trims are out of place. They have more work to do regards interior, its too basic. But good price though
Car Talk / Re: Nairalander Orders Tesla Model X (100% Battery Empowered) by akabad: 4:19pm On Oct 05, 2017
Lol chairman I fear for your review
You should feature in top gear

Lexusgs430:

That Evoque convertible, is simply a NO NO...... Overpriced piece of crap.... Looks like a toy Costco or Toy's r us would sell......
Car Talk / Re: Nairalander Orders Tesla Model X (100% Battery Empowered) by akabad: 4:17pm On Oct 05, 2017
You are entitled to your opinion, been on economy 7 for years and when I compare my bill with friends I am by far the cheapest.
It’s not a deal for everyone, if you use more electricity during the day, it’s common sense not to go for Eco 7

erico2k2:

Economy7 is a scam, cos you are charged more during the day than their average single tariff, they just repackaged it to make it look different, my lil nephew is one of their sales rep grin grin ;.Single tariff all the way bro.
Car Talk / Re: Nairalander Orders Tesla Model X (100% Battery Empowered) by akabad: 4:14pm On Oct 05, 2017
I was gonna reply eric but I felt there is no need, how can you say there is only one tariff in the uk??
Each provider has a minimum of 7 diff tariffs
And yes I was going for the economy 7, hardly at home during the day, I can automate my washing machine to start from midnight, same for charging the car

Lexusgs430:

NPower offers economy 7 packages, which offers on/off peak usage....

I am working on bringing it here in Nigeria of course
I just need to try it out for a year, in regards to parts, the main thing is the battery that can be shipped anywhere, the rest use the same technology as any car made of carbon fibre.

One more thing, sis you know that most of the servicing you will do with a tesla can be done over the air?
If you have issues break light, stiffness in street and other software related issue, Tesla can push a bug fix without you in driving there
#WinForMe

pacino26:
Make I ask you anything about Tesla eh my brother Op angry angry

The pace at which I clicked on the thread no be here o. Thought you wanted to bring it home to Nigeria.
Can you please send the charging station to Nigeria for me? I need am badly, running on Gen hasn't been easy plus EEDC wahala.

But this could be a business opportunity o. I think I can contact Uche in China for a charger eh inukwa. Nurey your mind de there.

I am having a charging point installed in my house, it's the same way as charging your phone over night, the joy here is I can automate it - start when electricity is cheaper and stop when it's 80%

It's recommended not to charge 100% on a daily drive

erico2k2:

This is cool,I can imagine ur xcitment.are you close to a charging point? or I take it you based in London where we have plenty

So I have taken the bold step to order a Model X,
There is apparently 3 months wait, still better than Audi which took 6 month.

One thing i have discovered is that, there is not a lot of African's who go for Tesla, here in London - You mostly see people over 50 that drive the car.

I am working on a more detailed post that shows the whole process for anyone who is interested including why I choose Tesla so watch this space.

Meanwhile, if you are thinking of getting a Tesla, I will say go for it: from 2040 all cars produced will be electric, in Africa we are behind as we are so dependent on Oil, but there is a revolution going on, even Dubai is already looking at alternate ways to keep the economy going.

Here is a referal for £750 or $1000 and unlimited charging if you choose to go for it.

Ask me any question in Tesla, took me 6 months of research to finally go for it.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Telling An Interviewer How Much You Were Being Paid In Your Last Job by akabad: 10:55am On Mar 12, 2015
Well that's a funny one. I work in IT and normally there is a range for the kind of role depending on experience and certification

I was in my last job for 3 years and let's assume the going rate was 20k, now the rate plus inflation is like 40k but I noticed that with my experience and certification got me loads of interviews that was paying between 40-60

As soon they heard I was in 20k, the interview just ended because they felt I couldn't do that job. Meanwhile the bloody 20k job won't give me a raise to match the market.

I was lucky that I got a job that matched that 50k and the company were looking to fill that role for 7 months so no one cared.

Lesson for me, do one year and move
The question was will you lie about your salary, my answer remains no, they will always find out, besides how will you live with yourself when u know you got a job on a lie, any thing you do wrong will be a trigger to get fired

mr Researcher, you are here again.. your post always make laugh

pharuk: <<<<Research has proved that young unemployed couples get married for the following reasons>>>
1. Christian couples are desperate to finally have s£x
2. They believe when they marry, God will provide
3. Family will help out (which is not always the case)
4. We are in love, we can’t wait before God leads us to someone else
5. If i marry, i will be matured and open doors will begin

Disclaimer...
The results from this research is in no way a conclusive evidence that idiots who get married when they have no source of income always survive the first 5 years of marriage

Travel / Re: E-passport Renewal/extension by akabad: 6:52pm On May 27, 2012
Dear all,
I have the new ePassport, issued in nov 2007, its expiring this november, there are some numbers to call if you are in the UK, the numbers are very useless and just basic information, I tried getting it online but the only option I see is for new passport and I have been warned that its a different process.
The link to renew on the website is the same link for a new one?? which doesn't make sense, also why pay £20 for postal order when you still have to pick it up yourself?

Can anyone advise what the process is in the UK for renewing the ePassport?
