Politics / Re: Breaking: Niger Delta Avengers, The Real Issue Is Buhari – Says Asari Dokubo by Akinfel: 10:34pm On May 27, 2016
dimieprincess:

You see as u end up fooling yourself, Asari was never part of Niger Delta amnesty program.

Hmmn, ask Asari Dokubo to declare publicly that he is not a beneficiary. You should also read that amateur interview you posted here again. Asari condemned amnesty programme, but later commended it in the same breath within the interview question. An independent interviewer will have asked if he is a beneficiary or not and not a self-managed interview as that.

I rest my case, I don't need to prove anything to you.

The death of patriotism is core in our national life. We are quick to ascribe tribe and religion to issues in our milleu. Who are these Niger Delta militants/avengers fighting for? Their people or their belly? What are they avenging now that they couldn't for avenge before now? On what new information or issues are they contending for that have not always being there? Just because they need more money and that their brother should not be probed for corruption.

Asari Dokubo to whom this letter is credited is broke since his brother lost the last general election. No more free money as usual to wastefully expend like before. He is one of the major beneficiaries of the amnesty fund. He currently owes his staffs 10months salary arrears in Benin Rep and has always use the money he is getting to fund his business empire in Benin Rep. If he loves his people so much by fight for them, why don't he invest in the Niger Delta instead of a foreign country. The university, secondary school, sport academy, acquired assets in the small francophone country will have benefited the Niger Deltans as the region is one of the most educationally backward areas in Nigeria.

I have no problem with those fighting for their people or being on the part of the masses, but many are greedy and self-centred. An average Nigerian love his belly, not his nation and has a way of hiding his greed to deceive us in seeing him as a leader. Frankly speaking, there no true leaders in the Niger Delta at the moment. hmmn, the region needs leaders with the Ken Sarowiwa's spirit and passion. The region parades greedy and inept leaders who steal from the system, cheat their people and threaten the centre when their allowances are delayed. Only few could be given a pass mark.

Religion / Re: Why Having A Phd Is A Waste – Bishop Oyedepo by Akinfel: 6:02pm On Mar 24, 2016
It is one thing for the academia to identity problems and proffer solutions to them through research; it's another thing for policy makers to adopt and utilise such innovations and solutions. We are laggards when it comes to adopting creative ideas developed locally, but are usually early adopters of what is foreign. Many research findings in Nigeria even in government research institutes are beautifying library shelves.

Not matter how you view it, a PhD programme is not a tea party affair. Academia have their contribution to national development. Dr. Adesina Akinwunmi - former Minister of Agriculture did wonderfully in his ministry in the last administration and who is currently overseeing the affairs of Africa Development Bank is a good example among many to mention.

Many of the solutions proffered up-to-date from research endeavor need the commitment of the government, business entities and various social groups to see to the harnessing of such research outcome. Harvard University is surrounded by business firms and corporations tapping from the intellectual benefits of their researches, while they in return provide research grants, internship, scholarships, jobs, etc. for the university community. Same thing happening in Germany, China and many other top countries, even Kenya and South Africa inclusive.

Autos / Re: Suspected Cause of James Ocholis Accident? by Akinfel: 10:32pm On Mar 08, 2016
Don't let us argue much about what we feel is the cause. Paul Walker of FAST & FURIOUS died of accident not in a movie but in real life. Forensic evidence revealed that the road was smooth and vehicle in sound condition, but over speeding was indicated as the cause.

May God give the family of the dead the fortitude to bear the loss.

My online application for this Edo State University academic jobs opening is not uploading on their site. My uploaded CV in PDF format is just 199kbs and not even up to the 500kb threshold they set. Anyone experiencing same challenge or am I the only one?
