Politics / Sen. Mark Is My Mentor- Abba Moro by Akpalla: 6:14pm On Dec 08, 2016
Press Statement.

Senator Mark is my mentor, leader..... Abba Moro.

Cyber pseudonymity, internet impersonation or catfishing is the new age phenomenon of using aliases and nom de plumes to write falsehood or post libelous materials about others while hiding under the security of false identities on the internet.

This malady has become the stock in trade of many young people and even older ones within our political space, who wish to bully, deceive and or cause disaffection by stirring up negative sentiment within a united camp.

Several politicians and public figures have borne the brunt of these mischief makers in recent times and nowhere is this scourge more prevalent than in our Benue NorthWest Senatorial Zone.

So it was not surprising in the least when a faceless group with the name Idoma Vanguard, concocted a meeting they purported to have held with one of our leaders, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro at his residence, whose outcome, they made public in a release.

In the said badly written release, the promoters told their gullible following that Comrade Abba Moro called on the entire Idoma Nation to prevail on Senator David Mark to live up to the responsibility of being a senator of the Benue South Senatorial District (whatever that means).

They went on to say that Abba told them it was regrettable that Sen. Mark has not contributed to any issue on the floor of the senate since he was reelected in February this year so the youths should campaign vigorously for any Idoma candidate come 2019.

Ordinarily, we we would not join issues with these faceless miscreants, but as it so happened, when this news broke, we were with Comrade Abba Moro and his consternation at such falsehood was only surpassed by his outright indignation.

Let it be known that Abba never held any meeting with any group, or people whatsoever over the weekend and certainly never said anything to such proportions.

Abba remains a strong Senator Mark ally and supporter, and would never say anything to malign or impugn the person or office of the distinguished Senator.
Abba would also want these traducers to know that the work of a distinguished senator cuts across oversight, legislation and representation and Senator Mark has never been found wanting.

It is the vote of confidence in his representation that was re affirmed in the 2016 re run election where state machinery and all the apparatus of power couldn't conquer the will of the people.

Unscrupulous elements masquerading under various names like the Idoma Vanguard, and their spurious rhetoric cannot influence the or turn the minds of the people, nor can their overwrought narrative of seeming indifference of Senator Mark subtract from his legacy.

The people are wiser now, and they showed their love for the Senator during the last elections when, anyone can argue he was now an opposition figure. Groups like Idoma Vanguard (if they exist) should engage themselves in more serious ventures of people and community development and should desist from mudslinging, outright peddling of lies and character assassination.

We are in direct contact with Abba and we wish to restate for the umpteenth time that Abba remains a key figure in the David Mark machinery and this is not about to change anytime .

He remains commiteed to the ideals of the Idoma Nation and would never betray this for a pot of porridge by attacking his own leader or joining the bandwagon of journey men who have jumped ship looking for rehabilitation.

Let this be known to all and sundry.

While Abba may himself offer a rebuttal to these faceless and dubious characters, it is doubtful as we would not even advice him to drop to the level of responding to these low life internet millipedes (with apologies to Wole Soyinka).

Thank you and remain blessed as equal partners in Project Nigeria and the Idoma Nation.

Politics / In The Wake Of Mark's Victory At The Appeal Court. .........let There Be A For by Akpalla: 3:10pm On Jul 23, 2016
In the Wake of Mark's Victory at the Appeal Court.

.........Let there be a forward.

Yesterday, the court put an end to a needless distraction. We thank God, our distinguished senator, David Mark can now wholesomely face the onerous task of nation-building .

The last few days have been remarkable for the people of Benue South senatorial district. Earlier, the President had audience with our honour-leader pursuant to nationalistic and bipartisan collaboration to ameliorating stinging federal malaise of economic and political proportions. We had rightly predicted in the days leading up to the rerun election that when matters of utmost national importance ensues, it would be leaders like Senator Mark that the President would turn irrespective of their different political leanings.

Then the appellate session of the tribunal spoke in unmistaken terms further revalidating 6 previous unprecedented victories and several land mark election tribunal judgements in favour of one man, an irrevocable Idoma son.

Then enter the nomination of the Honourable Justice Ejembi Eko as Justice of the apex court of the federation. The significance here is very telling. Eko was unnecessarily opted out of the state's number one judicial position by the same forces that have urged Onjeh on on this needless political trek due to non-existent ethnic competition . For us it was never a journey.

Today this same traducers are struggling to be local Titans in their Benue huts while both Mark , Eko and several other of our leaders are gaining ethnically untainted federally accentuated merit and relevance including presidential attention.

However, as our leader, Senator David Mark has said, let us forgive the conspirators and work for the progress of Benue South senatorial district, Benue State and Nigeria.

We knew from the outset that the needless agitation from the APC candidate was beyond him because he never won and could never, never have won those elections. Thank God, his externally supervised insistence led us to prove our political sophistry to Nigeria and the world.

Congratulations to true democrats all over the world.
Well done, Benue South senatorial district.
Thank you our honour -leader for accepting to serve and refusing to be cowed in the face of state machinated intimidation.

Politics / Mark On Benue Massacre: Enough Of This Bloodbath by Akpalla: 2:59pm On Jul 14, 2016

Mark on Benue massacre:
Enough of this bloodbath
-----urges Security operatives to arrest the situation

Former President of the Senate Senator David Mark has urged the federal government to wade into the unabating blood bath in Benue state on account of the farmers and Fulani herdsmen clashes.

Scores of persons were reported to have been murdered in cold blood when gunmen invaded Logo, Turan, Mbagber, Yonov , Tombo, Varser and Anyin in Logo and Ukum local government areas of Benue state a few days ago.

Reacting to the deteriorating security situation today, Senator Mark decried the continued invasion of communities in Benue state by suspected armed herdsmen which have claimed many lives and properties worth millions of naira .

A worried Mark stated:"Enough of the blood bath. Enough of this massacre. This war is senseless and needless .Why should we continue to kill ourselves and destroy our hard earned properties.

" It is time federal government steps in to salvage the situation. It has become too worrisome and truly intolerable.

Senator Mark lamented that the ugly situation has continued to deny the nation both human and material resources needed to take the country to the next level.

He stressed :" Benue state government must as a matter of urgency liaise with the federal government to salvage the situation.

" Whatever the bone of contention may be , resorting to self help or taking another's life cannot be a way out of the quagmire. We must live like civilized human beings. "

He reminded the combatants that there are established channels including the National Assembly for the aggrieved to seek redress instead of taking the laws into their hands.

Senator Mark for the umpteenth time calls for harmonious relationship irrespective of ethnic or religious differences, adding that " we would be adding value to ourselves if we cohabit peacefully and harmoniously with each other".

In the same token, Senator Mark requested the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) to send relief materials to the displaced persons in various camps in Benue state to bring succour to the victims.

Politics / Benue Kidnappings: The Time For Action Is Now! by Akpalla: 2:51pm On Jul 14, 2016
JAMES OCHE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION [JOCO]

PRESS RELEASE

THE TIME FOR ACTION IS NOW!

It is no longer news that the Idoma nation is presently going through one of it's darkest moments in history. From the national economic crunch cascading down to the people on the homeland to gross insecurity occasioned by unmitigated kidnappings with a lack of headlong proactive measures by the relevant governmental and security authorities to arrest the ugly situation calls for serious introspection. With the above, it is difficult to choose which particular heinours act to lament. There are all retrogressive to the homeland. Particularly noteworthy is the activities the marauding herdsmen that has turned our rich green fields of Agatu into grounds of agony, the Okpoga killings, the Otukpo youth massacres.

But the height of it all is the advent of kidnappings which took the life of one of our most intellectually endowned clergies, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese Of Otukpo, Rev. Dr. John Adeyi.
For us, as the entire world eulogizes and continue to speak good of the Reverend gentleman, the government of Benue State is duty bound to ensure at all cost that those behind this heinous crime are brought to book. We will not be satisfied with mere lip service and colourful burial.
Nothing else will be more injurious to the Idoma nation than burying the truth with the corpse.

We therefore call on the Governor of Benue State to as a matter of urgency give this a more proactive approach.
The soul of Reverend Father John Adeyi can never rest until justice is served.

We mourn the exit of a true Homelander, defender of truth and morality who was a consistent ambassador of peace and an undisputed mentor to our generation NEXT.

Family / Family Is The Beginning Of Government...... Comrade James Oche. by Akpalla: 8:19am On Jul 10, 2016
FAMILY IS THE BEGINNING OF GOVERNMENT...... COMRADE JAMES OCHE.

BY UDEH ADOLE.

The PDP candidate for Ado LGA chairmanship election, Comrade James Oche has described the family as the beginning of society and invariably government.
He stated this at Ugoho, Ushongo LGA where he graced the traditional marriage between Miss Igenem Lois Azenda and Master Msuega Joseph Atooka on Saturday 9th July.

Comrade James Oche who was accompanied by hundreds of supporters to the colourful event said the family is the bedrock of government and as such must be taken very seriously.
He admonished parents to give more attention to the upbringing of their children, stressing that majority of the societal ills today are as a result of failed marriages and families. He said if parents invest so much in the family, the society will be better.

Comrade James Oche also used the occasion to harp on tolerance and ethnic unity. He said the friendship between Joseph(Jones as the Comrade fondly calls him) and himself spans decades , a clear indication that Benue State is indeed one.
Comrade James Oche said the Ado LGA he will chair by the grace of God will be a home for all, devoid of ethnic discrimination. He therefore urged all Ado sons and daughters to join forces with him in building a greater Ado, one indivisible entity.
Comrade James Oche congratulated the new couple and prayed God to bless the new family promising to be back in the next nine months for their first child dedication.
Politics / Senate Leadership Crisis: Where Is Senator David Mark ? by Akpalla: 5:19pm On Jul 07, 2016
By Onyedi Ojiabor

It is no longer news that the Senate is in turmoil. It is also obvious that the nibbling crisis of confidence in the upper chamber is likely to get worse in the days ahead. It may be safe therefore to postulate that something may give for peace to return to the Red Chamber.

Monday’s arraignment of Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and two others for alleged forgery of Senate Standing rules 2015 further threw mallet at already gloomy scenario in the Senate.

The event of June 9th 2015 that threw up the whirlwind in the Senate has long assumed a life of its own. The rat race may have begun in the Senate with no hiding place for anybody.

Many questions are being asked. Keen observers are wondering whether the centre can still hold. Curiously, those who should act fast to save the day are missing in action.

A series of crises that trailed Senator Evan(s) Enwerem and Senator Chuba Okadigbo’s Senate Presidency are seen by many as a child play to what is playing out in the Eight Senate.

The theatre of musical chairs that prevailed in the Senate, which also extended to a large extend into the House of Representatives, was only brought to normalcy in the sixth and seventh Senate when Senator David Mark emerged President of the Senate.

The air of stability and conviviality Mark brought to bear in the Senate as primus inter pares may have provoked the trending question: Where is David Mark while Senate burns?

At the proclamation of the Eight Senate on June 9th 2015, Mark was accorded a mark of honour in apparent recognition of his primacy. The Benue South lawmaker was the first to be inaugurated after Saraki and Ekweremadu had controversially taken their seats.

The inauguration of Mark before his colleagues almost engendered some unintended interpretations, especially when a national television station went on air to announce that Mark had been elected Senate Leader. It was far from the truth. The goof was not only embarrassing to Mark, it was even more so to the Senate.

As the Senate boils, some observers say Mark has unduly distanced himself from the Senate crisis at a time the former President of the Senate should have stepped in to ignite his legendary magic touch.

That Senator Mark presided over the 6th and 7th Senate with unparalleled maturity and a sense of purpose may not be deniable. His use of native wisdom in handling plenary sessions was also unequalled.

Observers say perhaps Mark’s maturity, sense of purpose and artful display of native wisdom may have been the magic wand Mark armed himself with in his days as Senate President.

The retired Army Signal General variously described as “a master of the game on the political chessboard,” who has been in the upper chamber since 1999, may have aptly mastered “the art of blending military strategy with political deftness” to plot his way in the Senate.

The Idoma-born politician is also at home with power game and knows when best to strike to disarm even a deadly enemy. When few senators were throwing stones at him as he presided, he remained cool, calculated, and ignored them.

He was there when Senators Enwerem and Okadigbo fell as Senate Presidents. Mark was also there when Senator Adolphus Wabara’s Senate Presidency crumbled like a pack of cards.

In the 5th Senate when Senator Wabara’s Senate Presidency was wobbling, Mark was also there. He was leader of the G86 Senators who played one or two roles to ensure that things did not get out of control. When President Olusegun Obasanjo eventually invited the Senate leadership to talk over the rumbling in the Senate, Mark led the G86 Senators to the parley.

After President Obasanjo’s aborted Third Term Agenda, Mark mobilised majority of Peoples Democratic Party Senators to rally round Obasanjo to ensure that whatever was left of Obasanjo’s legacies were not completely rubbished. It worked. Mark thereafter transformed himself into a pivotal rallying point for his colleagues in the chamber. What was not known to some was that Mark was more or less bidding his time to be crowned Senate President?

Mark’s invocation of the Doctrine of Necessity to solve the political logjam that enveloped the country on account of the near absence of leadership in 2010 unarguably saved the nation from the precipice.

The novel Doctrine of Necessity was seen as a master stroke that neutralised and disarmed the shadowy elements that attempted to seize the reign of power in the country when former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua was indisposed.

The Benue South lawmaker suffered a setback when his election was nullified in 2015, a development that took him out of the Red Chamber for about three months. The cancellation of his election and the subsequent preparation for a re-run, insiders say, created a major disconnect between Mark and Senate.

Many political pundits are still wondering how Senator Mark won the February 20 rerun election in spite of the massive opposition against him.

When Mark stepped into the Senate chamber after he successfully prosecuted his re-run election, his presence ignited instantaneous camaraderie in the chamber. Senators on both sides of isle struggled to embrace him. It was a moving spectacle that was never witnessed since the inauguration of the 8th Senate.

His unwavering commitment, patriotism and service to country may not be in doubt. This may have given fillip to the desire in some quarters that Mark should step up and do the needful.

Opinions are however divided about how far Mark can go in a matter that has become a subject of litigation.

It is not certain what will give in in the Senate for peace and tranquility to return. What is certain however is that whichever way the pendulum swings; the 8th Senate will never be the same again.

EID-EL FITRI: COMRADE JAMES OCHE CALLS FOR POSITIVE USE OF RELIGION AND ETHNICITY.

A PDP chairmanship hopeful for Ado LGA of Benue State and front line youth mobilizer, Comrade James Oche has felicitated with all Muslim faithfuls in Ado local government area, Benue State and the entire nation at large on the occasion of the celebration of EID-EL FITRI.

Comrade Oche who spoke to news men this morning congratulated all Muslim faithfuls on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan. He said it was commendable that the Muslim community in Ado LGA took out time to seek the face of Almighty Allah concerning the mirage of problems facing the council area, the state and the nation.
He further stated that their prayers will make the pending local government polls peaceful and will bring on board the purposeful leadership which PDP is known for and that will engender positive development in the area.
Comrade James Oche equally called on all Nigerians to work together as a single unit in order to confront the great challenges this nation is facing today.

"At a time when we are passing through hard times as a nation and a people, the greatest blend that can keep our unity is a galvanized tool of positive usage of religion and ethnicity; these are the same factors that have broken us in the past. I pray that the blessings of Ramadan shall bring this to pass in our life as a sovereign nation."
He thanked the good people of Ado LGA and pledged that his leadership and the collective support of the people will make the Ado dream a reality.
