But you must have read that the first Alafin of Oyo is an Ife prince and Ife is the origin of Yoruba. And I know they did not tell you Ife was under that dead empire. Get your record straight if you are not older than your father , Oyo can never be greater than Ife.

OONI ORANMIYAN AND OYO HISTORY

Alafin Of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is promoting his image as if, he is an indispensable personality.
Where as Onisabe of sabe, Onipopo, owa Ajibokun (obokun) of Ilesa, orangun of ila, Alaketu of Ketu to mention but a few were never for once behaved like that.

The aforementioned obas (Kings) are direct children of Oduaa while Alafin is a grandson and the last born of his father Ooni Oranmiyan.
The fact is that before the existence of the Alafin Ajaka, king Eweka( Owomika) had existed in Benin (Ile Ibinu ). Kindly note that Oranmiyan changed the name from Ado (corrupted to Edo) to Ile Ibinu. Oranmiyan gave birth to Eweka through princess Erewinde (daughter of last king (Ogiso) of Edo).

By the request of Edo people, Oduduwa sent Oranmiyan to Edo people where he gave birth to Eweka .
Oranmiyan also embarked on another journey through instruction of Ifa Oracle and gave birth to another son (called Osile of Oko but recently changed to Oranmiyan of Oke - Ona, Egba) at a town called Oko (renamed oke -Ona).

Ooni Oranmiyan subsequently moved to NUPELAND (Tapa) in present day Niger State. He assisted king Elempe of Nupe (Nupe is known as Tapa in Yorubaland ) to win a war.
King Elempe gave his eldest daughter named TOROSI in marriage to Oranmiyan .
Torosi begat Ajaka alias Dada and sango for Oranmiyan. Oranmiyan left the NUPELAND to establish Oyo Ile (also called Oyo Katunga by Hausa, Borgus & Tapa).

By analysis above, Ooni represent Odududuwa, his son Oranmiyan begat (1) Ooni Lajamisan in Ile - Ife and his descendants are past and current Ooni.
(2)Eweka at Benin in Edo state.
(3) osiele at Oko now called Oke - Ona and lastly
(4) Ajaka and Sango who later now became Alafin. Alafin of Oyo has no town because among the children of Oduduwa, Alafin is the only Oba who has lost his throne, land and kingdom long time ago to the Fulanization during Afonja Era.
Alafin is presently on asylum at Ago - Oja which is now between Ogbomoso and lbadan just for security reason alone.
You can verify this fact from of the family of Oloja of Ago Oja renamed by Alafin Atiba to Ashipa of Oyo (late Chief Amuda Olorunsebi) are his landlords in Oyo where he is presently, that was why he was alledged to have killed Ashipa of Oyo Chief Amuda Olorunosebi (after winning ownership of Oyo land case against Alafin in Supreme court) because the man wanted to expose him as his TENANT. With due respect it would amount to goofing to recognize Alafin by anybody that knows true history as a king in yorubaland. The truth of the matter is that he has no place among the direct children of Odududuwa and is the least among the children of Oranmiyan.
He has no original Home, no throne and no fundamental position by his birth as the grandson of his grandfather. OONI ORANMIYAN AND OYO HISTORY

You forgot to address the root cause of everything.

My mum is from Ugbo and the Ugbos are the real aborigines of Ile-Ife, then Oduduwa came and murdered our King, Obatala.

We all can agree that Oduduwa is not the progenitor of the Yorubas, then who were the pre-existing Yorubas?

The Ugbos believe Oduduwa came from Benin, to overthrow Obatala and take over the throne. The Ugbos felt angered by this and started

carrying out guerilla attacks on Ile-Ife to claim their city back and later came the Moremi story, where she was captured by the Ugbos and she

married the King and later escaped and later leaked their secrets.

Moremi is a heroine to present day Ile-Ife, but she is also a traitor to the Ugbos. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Let us reason this issue out as matured individuals and let's not resort to insults on our Kings, we are all Yorubas at the end of the day.

My brother, if that is the case and your mum and your king is tired of that village Ugbo, it is very easy now, no need to fight just come and buy some land in ife and build yourself a home so that you can enjoy the fresh air brought by our Imperial majesty oba Adeyeye. SillyMods:
Waste of time and money.

This is a clear confirmation that PDP lacks wisdom. On what ground are they calling for cancelation of the election?

1. That PDP had internal issues before the election and as such INEC should have postponed it? Which law allows this nonsense?

2. That INEC obeyed a valid court order by replacing Jegede with Jimoh Ibrahim? INEC couldn't have acted otherwise. It has to obey every valid court order. It's same way it later obeyed the Appeal court order by accepting Jegede.

3. That APC infiltrated your party (according to you) to destabilize you, and INEC should have postponed the election?

4. Vote buying is engaged in by all parties and there is no way that is INEC's problem.

The fact that Akeredolu even beat Jegede in his own local government is a testament to the fact that PDP was rejected by Ondo. So, you have no reasonable ground to challenge the best election so far in the history of Prof Mahmood's Chairmanship.

And the inconclusive elections we've had were a result of violence and disruptions by political thugs hired and sponsored by you politicians. In those cases, the best thing to do was to reject the violence by declaring the elections inconclusive. When politicians finally realize that their violence will not be rewarded by INEC, they'd behave well hopefully.
you have turned yourself to judge, mr know it all, let judiciary play there role and wait for your next life to be a judge bcus it is late for u already

Ovokoo:

That's a personal opinion. The people ahead of the Ooni deserve to be there. We all know there's no traditional ruler as powerful as the Sultan as he also doubles as the head of the Muslim community in Nigeria. The Emir is also very powerful in the north and is highly revered throughout the country. The Oba of benin is arguable the most powerful traditional ruler in the south and then the Ooni before the Alaafin. We're all entitled to our opinions anyways.

bro this is not about personal opinion, that is the arrangement in Nigeria at the moment. you can confirm further. thanks

Culture / Re: Who Is Superior Between Alaafin Of Oyo And The Ooni Of Ife??? by AKYEMITE(m): 1:37pm On Nov 05, 2016
macof:
The superiority of Yoruba kings lays with Oduduwa

Oranmiyan is a grandson of Oduduwa as the son of Okanbi

Oranmiyan founded Oyo and his descendants are the royal families of Oyo and Bini. Ooni also claims to be a descendant of Oranmiyan

Oranmiyan was never the rightful heir of Ife but he
Acquired it due to the absence of other princes. .plus his military might

According to Ife, Oranmiyan returned to Ile-Ife after establishing a politically strong system and left Oyo to Ajaka, Sango and the Oyo mesi, He was the 6th king of Ife since Oduduwa.
Oranmiyan had a son(Lajamisan) whose son(Lagadoogun) is the father of all ruling clans in Ile-Ife. The spot were he died is were opa Oranyan is till date.

While there's no doubt that Alaafin Lamidi is of Oduduwa descent, there's doubt about Ooni Sijuwade
Alaafin says the chief priest who the name "Ooni" is gotten from is the ancestor of the Ife kings after Oranmiyan refused the title . but fact from Ife is that this Ooni was a member of Oduduwa's household too. ..not less a prince than others...although Oyo reject this

Oyo claims Oranmiyan was never king at Ile-Ife neither were any of his children that Oba Sijuwade doesn't know his ancestry.

So if the Alaafin is right, Ooni can never be superior to any Royal descendant of Oduduwa, but if Ooni is right it does give him superiority, with Alaafin coming second.

In Yoruba history Oyo has been the greatest nation, modern Yoruba language is from Oyo, they once ruled over most parts of Yorubaland giving protection to Ile-Ife.

Oranmiyan set Oyo as the political and military stronghold of Yoruba, He collected taxes from his brothers and cousins and stored all of it in Oyo.

That Oyo is practically gone, because even Ibadan is ahead of both Ile-Ife and Oyo

In my opinion Ooni is the head in matters of spirituality as even those Cubans and Brazilians practicing Yoruba spirituality pay homage to Ooni, and also the only one who can resolve royal conflicts as all crowns come from Oduduwa. ..which the Ooni represents as heir. . but in other matters the Alaafin is head.

It's just a matter of stipulating duties and responsibilities but these are still the top 2 Obas in the minds of many

It's like the Pope and kaiser in medieval holy roman empire

Bros you have murdered Yoruba history, it is better not to say anything.

for those who dont believe the weight of the crown, you can ask the priest to put it on ur head to check the weight. you think it is an ordinary crown, you shd ask why it is only use once in a year and why previous ooni cannot carry it due to old age. many sacrifices has to be done for the king to be fit to carry it. pls get yourself close to ife and understand tradition.
