so what do u expect.... the way some people here understand issues both national and international is very pathetic to say the least. France have already hijacked the eco of a thing. there are numerous write up(s) on it and how so. Do u seriously think France will let go of over 500billion just like that without a fight...what France did was to preempt Nigeria's moves using their stooge in Ivory Coast. As for Ghana their they are non starter...they are just after anything that they know Nigeria is or will be against.. they lack the weight to set the terms in W/Africa sub region. 267 Likes 26 Shares |

ThaProphet: look i am not eurocentric neither am i afrocentric but purely naijacentric...what ever treaty we must sign must be first put into the contest of national interest..nd at the moment i don't think Nigeria is ready for that. not because we cant thrive in the said environment but the abuse that will follow the treaty by other African countries ESPECIALLY the francophone countries in connivance with the developed countries for peanuts (financially) and to some extend Ghana for the glory of achieving its long ambition of being a major power in W/AFR. in case that happen, what next start talking of Naijixt? 2 Likes 1 Share |

i quiet disagree with u based on the ff 1. you cant compare the amount Israel pay to justify your argument coz it always pay far far less of the original price of any american weapons...in fact if u are verse as u tend portray u shul knw that america is paying for those jets. 2. i don't see anything wrong in that acquisition since it intended to serve some specific purpose both in the north and in the south... 3. the price of a jet fighter which u are clamouring for is not always the issue but the total price when all the necessary support equipment are added. u can research how much other countries paid for the total package but mind u i am not against that..but shul be dealt with separately... 4. i don't know how u got the idea that chad will invade Nigeria again nd even worst is ur assumption that u can see this problem but the people task with this responsibilities cant.. though i still agree with u that the govt need to put on it strategic thinking cap 1 Like |

Now that 2017 has ended with a
whimper it is possible to look
forward to what the new year might
bring. Nuclear armed North Korea is
the potential flash point for a new
war, but unless leader Kim Jong-un is
actually intent on personal and
national suicide, it is unlikely that
Pyongyang will take the steps
necessary to escalate and trigger such
an event. Far more dangerous is the
Trump White House, which seems to
confuse acting tough with acting
smart. Every time Secretary of State
Rex Tillerson mentions negotiating
he is contradicted by Nikki Haley or
the president saying that diplomacy
has played out, but the reality is that
the incineration of the Korean
peninsula and the deaths of
hundreds of thousands or even
millions, which such a war would
inevitably produce, might just be a
bridge too far even for the generals
and assorted psychopaths that appear
to be running the show. Which
means that at a certain point the
diplomats, perhaps in an
arrangement brokered by Russia or
China, will have to take over. Let us
hope so anyway.
And the United States has also shot
itself in the foot regarding Russia, an
adversary with which Donald Trump
once upon a time wanted to improve
relations. But that was all before a
politically driven Russiagate
happened, turning Moscow into the
enemy of choice once again, as it
once was during the Cold War. In
any event dealmaker Trump did not
appreciate that you can’t improve
relations when you threaten a vital
interest of those you are wanting to
improve relations with. The United
States and its allies persist in running
military exercises right on Russia’s
borders under the false assumption
that President Vladimir Putin heads
an expansionist power. The recent
decision to sell offensive weapons to
Ukraine is a move that serves no
American interest whatsoever while
at the same time threatening
Moscow’s vital interests since
Ukraine sits right on its doorstep. It is
a bad move that guarantees that
relations with Russia will continue to
be in the deep freeze for the
foreseeable future.
Note that all the major problems that
America is experiencing versus the
rest of the world are pretty much
self-inflicted. In my view, looking
beyond Russia and North Korea,
America’s principal foreign policy
problems continue to be centered on
the Middle East and all originate in
the deliberate instability generated
by Israel, currently joined in an
unholy alliance by its former enemy
Saudi Arabia. The Tel Aviv (excuse
me, Jerusalem) to Riyadh axis is
current working hard to bring a new
war to the Middle East as part of
their plan to have the United States
military destroy Iran as a major
regional power.
One might reasonably observe that
the United States has no vital interest
in what either Israel or Saudi Arabia
does, but it does have some minor
interests in the region, which include
not allowing the area to become a
breeding ground for transnational
terrorist groups and safeguarding the
movement of energy products so
there will be no surge in prices that
would hurt the energy dependent
U.S. economy. That’s about it, and
the interests neither include nor
justify starting World War III.
The problem with Israel is that it and
its powerful billion-dollar domestic
lobby have their hooks so deeply
embedded in the American political
system as well as in the national
media that the Jewish state is
virtually bullet-proof. Most recently,
we have learned that Facebook has
been deleting critical accounts at
the request of the Israeli government.
Meanwhile, that same government
has been working hard to make any
consideration of Palestine or the
Palestinians disappear, recently
successfully demanding that the
National Basketball Association
remove a website reference to
Palestine, which Israel’s sports
minister described as an “imaginary
state.” NBA Commissioner Adam
Silver apparently agreed. Even
recent blockbuster revelations that
Israel rather than Russia had been
corrupting Team Trump produced a
few Israelgate stories before
disappearing completely down the
memory hole.
Israel has consistently been able to
make whoever is in the White House
dance to its tune without suffering
any serious consequences. With
Donald Trump, one might even argue
that it has been able to so condition
the president that he goes around
looking for things to do to please
Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel has
not even yet asked for. The moving
the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem is one
such gift, something that pleases
Israel so much that it is going to
name a train station after the
president, but which gives nothing
but grief to the United States and to
American citizens and businesses
abroad.
Of course, one might argue that
Trump had help in coming to his
decision. He is surrounded by
Orthodox Jews as well as Christian
Zionists like Mike Pence and Nikki
Haley, all of whom appear to put
Israel first, not exactly a good
formula for “Making America Great
Again.” The Jewish advisers also have
financial and business ties to Israel,
suggesting that Robert Mueller might
look towards the Middle East if he
actually wants to find foreign
government interference in U.S.
politics.
To cite only one recent example of
how the constant pressure to please
Israel and minimize its
transgressions works in practice, the
U.S. Ambassador to Israel David
Friedman apparently got into a
pissing match with the State
Department over its policy to refer to
the Palestinian land that Israel has
illegally stolen and settled as
“occupied.” Friedman, a passionate
supporter of the fanatical settlers
who have done much of the
occupying, would prefer a different
adjective, possibly “improved” or
“returned-to-original-owners.”
And Friedman might well be
regarded as little more than a Zionist
crank by comparison with Michael
Makovsky, who heads the Jewish
Institute for National Security Affairs
(JINSA). Makovsky is much exercised
over Iran’s alleged ambitions and
wants to counter them by
redrawing most of the borders in the
Middle East. He intones
“Maintaining Syria, Iraq, Lebanon
and Yemen in their existing forms is
unnatural and serves Iran’s
interests.” Makovsky would like to
break all those countries up into
their component tribal, ethnic and
religious parts, starting with
separating the Kurdish region from
Iraq and breaking Syria into three
separate states. He does not mention
that he is not original in this thinking
as it reflects the Israeli Yinon Plan of
the 1980s and the American neocon
“Clean Break” proposal that was
written by geniuses like Richard
Perle, Doug Feith and David Wurmser
and presented to Netanyahu in 1996.
Makovsky also does not mention that
if there is a country in the Middle
East that has artificial borders and
strong sectarian divisions in the area
that it rules over it is Israel, but, of
course use of the word “border”
would be somewhat inaccurate as an
expansionistic Israel has no declared
borders at all.
And the media is fully complicit in
playing Israel’s tune. A recent
attempt to link Hezbollah to drug
trafficking into the U.S., implicating
by proxy Iran, would appear to be a
completely fabricated story. I can go
on and on about why America on
moral grounds should not be
supporting an apartheid regime
loaded with racist thugs racist thugs
from top to bottom, headed by a
completely cynical regime that sends
its “soldiers” into Palestinian areas to
shoot people without legs and
children, but it would only inflame
the hasbarists that seem to gather like
vultures anytime anyone writes or
says anything negative about the
“only democracy in the Middle East”
and “America’s greatest and best
ally.”
When all else fails, the Israel-firsters
resort to name calling. On Sunday,
the Washington Post featured a full-
page ad condemning New Zealand
pop singer Lorde, whose crime was
that she had decided to cancel a
performance in Israel on political
grounds. The ad, placed by
“America’s Rabbi” Shmuley Boteach,
absurdly called Lorde a bigot and
“Jew-hater” while ludicrously linking
her to the killing of civilians in Syria
by virtue of the fact that she is willing
to perform in Russia. Indeed, anyone
who objects to Israel’s policies or to
the strenuous efforts made by Jewish
individuals or groups to promote the
same is automatically dubbed “an
anti-Semite.” Ditto for Americans
who object to taxpayer money being
used to put up and support the
heavily politicized holocaust
museums that seem to be popping up
like mushrooms all across America.
Those who protest are labeled
“holocaust deniers.”
For those American Jews and
Christian Zios who persist in their
deep affection for Israel and choose
to look the other way even as it
tortures, kills, removes human organs
and steals, I seriously ask for
examples of Israel actually doing
anything good for the United States
and for the American people. What
benefit does it provide in return for
its constant interference in the U.S.
political system and economy that
nets it the many billions of dollars
handed to it by the U.S. Treasury,
billions more allowed as “charitable
contributions,” and still billions more
given in the form of coproduction
projects and trade concessions?
What is the return for Washington
trashing its own good name by
protecting Israel in international fora
like the United Nations, as has been
occurring in spades since Nikki Haley
appeared on the scene? When has
Israel ever apologized or made
amends for its virtually incessant
spying on the U.S. and its thefts of
American technology? And what
about the attack on the USS Liberty
fifty years ago which killed 34
Americans? The dwindling number
of crew members are still waiting for
an official inquiry that would make
clear what Israel did on that day in
June.
And finally, what would be the net
gain for the U.S. if it gets prodded
into a war with Iran in which it
could quite plausibly lose an aircraft
carrier or two while making
traveling Americans prime targets
for a new wave of terror attacks? The
sad part is that it might be too late
already. The Israeli media is
reporting that the Trump and
Netanyahu have signed a secret
agreement to actively target and go
after Iran over its alleged military
programs. A war in which Americans
will fight and die, not Israelis, is
certainly being planned behind the
scenes.
What I am arguing is that unlike the
situations with Russia and North
Korea, where the United States has
gotten itself maneuvered into a
corner where there are actual
interests at stake, there is absolutely
no national interest that compels
Washington to do anything for Israel.
The U.S. should pull the plug on the
phony “special relationship” with
Netanyahu and his nest of vipers.
Let’s make a New Year’s resolution to
work hard to accomplish just that.
Let’s boycott businesses and sport
franchises whose owners are
particularly fond of Israel’s
settlements to send the message that
there are consequences. Let’s talk
about Israel, to be sure, but without
the self-imposed censorship in the
media and not through the mouths of
the numerous gatekeepers that head
so-called peace organizations, nor
through the bought and paid
congress-critters. Nor from the White
House, which is rapidly becoming
little more than a reliable echo
chamber for Israeli interests. Let’s
tell it like it is. If Americans are
exposed to the hard truths about
Israel it is hard to imagine that they
will want to associate with it in any
capacity. Cut the tie that binds and do
it now.

WAYNE MADSEN | 21.12.2017 | WORLD / The decision by Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel not only violates several United Nations Security Council resolutions, but also desecrates 70 years of American policy in the Middle East. Trump’s decision, while pleasing to dubiously “Christian” fundamentalist sects and cults found mostly in poorly-educated rural pockets across the United States, flies in the face of authentic Christian denominations. These include Roman Catholic, Christian Orthodox, and mainstream Protestant churches. Trump’s unwise diplomatic move was also in response to large political donations to his 2016 presidential campaign by deep- pocketed ultra-Zionists like casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, a backer of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Trump’s decision to reject any Palestinian claims over East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestine has also exacerbated tensions in the Muslim world at the expense of US geopolitical and economic interests. US Secretaries of State since George C. Marshall, including Dean Acheson, John Foster Dulles, Dean Rusk, William Rogers, Henry Kissinger, Cyrus Vance, Ed Muskie, Alexander Haig, George Schultz, James Baker, Warren Christopher, Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry, have opposed American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Although current Secretary of State Rex Tillerson publicly complied with Trump’s decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, it is known that Tillerson no longer speaks on behalf of Trump’s White House in matters of foreign policy. It is inconceivable that Tillerson, the former chief executive officer of Exxon Mobil, a firm with major investments in Arab and Muslim countries, agreed with Trump’s decision on Jerusalem. Rather, Trump was guided in his decision by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, Trump’s “special envoy” to the Middle East and a pro-Netanyahu Orthodox Jew. Complementing Kushner in pressuring Trump on Jerusalem were two other Israeli “agents- of-influence” inside the Trump administration, Jason Dov Greenblatt, a lawyer for the Trump Organization and a current Assistant to the President and Special Representative for International Negotiations, and David Friedman, one of Trump’s former bankruptcy lawyers and the current US ambassador to Israel. Greenblatt and Friedman, like Kushner, are rabid Zionists who support illegal Israeli settlements on the West Bank and east Jerusalem and wholeheartedly back Netanyahu. In the past, even the most pro-Israeli members of Congress pushed only for non- binding resolutions affirming Congress’s wish to see the US recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move its embassy to the contested city from Tel Aviv. This was done to please the Israel Lobby in the United States, most notably, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the more powerful Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. Given the choice between upsetting US diplomacy in the Middle East and guaranteeing a steady flow of campaign cash from wealthy Jewish political donors, Congress took the middle course between non-binding resolutions on Jerusalem and outright interfering in the Middle East initiatives of presidents from Harry S Truman to Barack Obama. Trump’s Jerusalem diktat has already frayed US relations with countries having religious stakes in Jerusalem, interests that are constantly threatened by increasing Jewish aggressive behavior toward Christian and Muslim institutions in Jerusalem, its suburbs, and throughout the West Bank. America’s relations with the Vatican, the Coptic Pontificate, the Greek and Russian Orthodox and Assyrian patriarchies, and the World Council of Churches have hit an all-time low. Trump believes that Christianity is only represented by hucksters wearing expensive suits who preach “prosperity theology” and smack members of their congregations with their hands to cure everything from smoking habits to leukemia. These purveyors of religious nonsense believe that when Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the “end times” are near. Israeli intransigence on Jerusalem was the key hurdle described in a formerly Secret Central Intelligence Agency report dated January 15, 1971, and titled, “Jerusalem: An Issue Without Prospects.” The CIA pointed out that the Israelis were undertaking several actions in east Jerusalem, which Israel occupied during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, to make Israeli control “irreversible.” The CIA pointed out that UN mediator Count Folke Bernadotte of Sweden recommended in 1948 that Jerusalem be incorporated into Arab territory with “municipal rights for the Jewish community and special arrangements for the protection of the holy places.” Bernadotte’s proposal was met with his assassination by Jewish terrorists, individuals who are today praised as heroes by the Israeli government. The UN also sought to neutralize Jerusalem and govern it as an international city. This, too, was rejected by Israel and powerful Jewish lobbies in New York, London, Canberra, and elsewhere. Israel’s intention has always been to incorporate all of Jerusalem into the Israeli state without guarantees for Christian and Muslim holy places or the worshipers of both religions. In 1950, Israel proclaimed the “New City” of Jerusalem its capital. Most countries, including the United States, refused to recognize the Israeli proclamation. After seizing east Jerusalem in the 1967 war, Israel’s first act was to dissolve the Arab City Council of Jerusalem. This was the first major act toward the Judaification of the entire city. A July 1969 UN Security Council resolution condemned Israeli confiscation and demolition of properties near the Dome of the Rock. The United States voted for the resolution. Ever since, Israel has flouted UN resolution after resolution by confiscating additional Arab land and demolishing Arab structures. In 1970, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir declared that Israel would never cede control over unified Jerusalem. Israel forced the Arab population of east Jerusalem to pay taxes even though Jewish “lebensraum” policies did not recognize the Arab population of Jerusalem as Israeli citizens. This “taxation without representation” has contributed to the establishment of a de facto apartheid state in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Arab businessmen in east Jerusalem were faced with a choice: pay Israeli taxes or lose Israeli business licenses and be shut down. Taxation coercion by the Jewish state became the rule in east Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, perhaps the only Saudi king who never agreed to consort with the Israelis or their international Zionist backers, proclaimed that in addition to being the “guardian” of the Islamic holy paces of Mecca and Medina, he was also the guardian of Islamic holy places in Jerusalem. In 1975, Faisal was assassinated by his nephew, Faisal bin Musaid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, during a royal audience in Riyadh. It was later discovered that the assassin had been selling and using LSD while attending the University of Colorado, maintained a relationship with a pro-Israeli girlfriend, and made an unusual visit to East Germany before returning to Saudi Arabia to assassinate King Faisal. There were suspicions that either the CIA or Mossad employed mind-control techniques on Faisal bin Musaid to program him to assassinate King Faisal. It was clear that two opponents of Israeli control of Jerusalem – Count Bernadotte and King Faisal – were assassinated and Israel was implicated in both murders. The Trump administration, in recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over all of Jerusalem, has rewarded past Israeli war crimes, including confiscation of land, forced removal of populations, and even assassinations of foreign officials. However, nothing else should be expected from an administration that continuously tramples on US constitutional and international law on a daily basis. |

Bacon21: pls it will help if you avail urself of numerous articles and analysis written by both US govt apologists and critics of the incidence i made mention of earlier...the scenario was same..the jet receive a coordination that was wrong just like the NAF pilot which they blame on false info so i don't see d difference.. the mosque was not located on the outskirt of town mind you.. on your b. point oh yes and the all the movers of the war...a one american analysis even called saudi as just proxy being used as they just receive where nd when to bomb...that is if u are very verse on the issue.. pls what investigation are taking about nd beside who is leading the investigation..peace |

Bacon21: ok..i didn't want to go deep but i will go a little bit deeper cos i at least appreciate ur civility so far which is usually uncommon here here a. an error will always be an error either on intelligent report or on map... b.. the bombing of a mosque compound full of civilians some months ago by coalition forces led by america was said to b based on wrong intelligence report after initially denial by u.s c..Saudi of recent was said to be responsible for the bombing of refugee boat on the Mediterranean yet the congress is yet to even acknowledge that..pls note..u.s are the technical advisers on that war.. d...have ever heard of the incidence regarding USS liberty.. note...NAF was wrong but i believe the reason giving by the congress was very weak |
![]() |
Bacon21: the position of the NAF was that the act was an accident as rightly reported by Reuters last week after investigation...so my argument is USA mistakenly bombed civilian population too mistakenly taken to be Taliban fighters..in both civilian lives were wasted..on this guilt USA lack the moral stand to judge another nation.. mayb u confused the incidence b/c i used the word collateral damage |
![]() |
Bacon21: let me try and be civil.... are u ignorant of the accidental bombardment of civilian population by american jets just few days ago in Afghanistan. it wash widely reported and criticized that even pentagon acknowledged.. so please when it come to accidental bombing or collateral damage as being fancy termed Nigeria is still no where near U.S.A ..your reason is not good enough |

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reportedly has 12 Sukhoi Su-30 multi-role fighters on order from Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). Speaking to Sputnik News , the Deputy Director for the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Anatoliy Punchuk said, “In 2018, Russia will supply 10 Su-30 aircraft. Thus, the contract will be completed by the end of next year.” As per Sputnik News, two of the Su-30s were delivered to Nigeria in 2017. The variant was not disclosed. Notes & Comments: Nigeria’s federal budget for 2016 – i.e. the Appropriation Act for 2016 – allocated $15.88 million U.S. for the purchase of three JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighters from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC). It is unclear if Nigeria inked this contract with PAC. The proposed 2017 budget earmarked $68.76 million for “platform acquisitions … for counter air, counter surface, air ops for strategic effect and air support operations.” In light of the recent news about the Su-30, the NAF acquisition budget appears to involve several combat platform purchases – i.e. JF-17, Su-30, Mi-35M and potentially A-29 Super Tucano . With the Su-30 and JF-17, the NAF would maintain a ‘high-and-low’ composition, respectively. The Su-30 would likely be counted upon to provide the ‘strategic effect’ aspect of the NAF’s requirements, such as long-range strikes and maritime operations. The JF-17 would fulfill air defence and attack operations in-land over Nigeria’s territories and border areas. |
