Crime / UPDATE: The Many Twists On The Missing Lady, As LASEMA Continues Search by aledehweb: 11:02pm On Jun 14, 2018
It’s been three days since the news broke that a lady had jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on the popular 3rd Mainland bridge. As promised, ALEDEH has stayed on the matter as LASEMA and other agencies have been working round the clock to fish out the body.

Three days, the search is still on as Nigerians await news from LASEMA which has over time, shown some professional competence in search and rescue. But why is this one a hard nut to crack this reporter wonders?

There are loads of questions begging for answers. Watching the search and rescue team comb the waters, is it possible to say nobody jumped into the lagoon? A member of the search and rescue team we spoke to said “even though it’s almost 72 hours, we can’t jump into such conclusion because we had calls that someone jumped into the lagoon. Even if it turns out to be a crank call, we at LASEMA still will first act before we can establish that fact”. Asked to know when this search will be called off he said: “we will comb the area until such a time when it will be obvious nobody is found”. The agency is also being assisted by some local fishermen in the search.

The search so far hasn’t been fruitless for the team as the body of a boy of about 8 years old was seen.

Recall ALEDEH had reported from our findings that the Ford SUV wasn’t registered in the name of any individual. We decided not to state the name earlier in other not to jeopardise any possible investigation. We can authoritatively report it was registered in the name of Interswitch. The company has since issued a release clarifying its position on the matter.

Still, many questions are begging for answers. We gathered that the authorities placed a call to a phone number found in the details. When it was dialled a barely literate man somewhere in Ekiti state picked the call and denied ever visiting the 3rd Mainland Bridge.

This reporter’s findings also revealed that one of the arrow agencies in the search and rescue sent a delegation of staff to Interswitch on Monday, June 11. During that visit, a call was placed to the supposed owner of the car, who they(interswitch) claimed was their former staff, a lady. She said it was her husband who drove the car on the said day “alone” when he saw a car parked. He saw a lady going over the median. She claimed that her husband said he had parked to help only to see the lady jump into the lagoon. The delegation was unable to speak directly to the man as his wife said the man was traumatized as he has since been bombarded with calls after video of his car went viral online.

Another question is when will his trauma be over? Shouldn’t he be able to give the nation a better picture of what happened?

Where was he when a crowd had gathered around his car? When they were recording and saying it was from his car the lady came out, why didn’t he speak up and say, no, I only stopped to help? Was he under water trying to save the lady when that was going on? Questions! More questions.

The pictures of ladies posted on the internet? This reporter found no nexus so far. It’s neither here nor there on the strength of the denial by the ladies that they were alive. One of them has gone ahead to make a “proof of life video”. What about the other lady who was caught in the web of infidelity as alleged? A blackmail? We are yet to reach her as everything on these two are based on trends in the social media.

A gentleman has been helping in unravelling the twists here. He insists a lady jumped into the lagoon. He said his car had broken down on the bridge with another one and both occupants of the car saw a lady cross to the other side of the bridge. The young man, Azeez told this reporter that when the lady crossed the median, another woman who also had a broken down car made a dash to grab the lady but it was too late. Before she got to her, she had taken a plunge.

Unlike Azeez, the woman who made that dash to stop the lady from jumping remains anonymous till date. No doubt, she would have been able to give us more useful information. When asked about trending photos online as that of the lady who plunged into the lagoon, Azeez said the photos being posted are “not that of the lady” he saw.

“People are putting wrong information on Facebook. I was there that day, my car broke down there”, Azeez told ALEDEH. “The pictures of the ladies on Facebook are not real”, he added.

Politics / Dear Mr. President By Olasupo Abideen Opeyemi by aledehweb: 10:06am On May 14, 2018
Dear Mr. President

It is with a heavy heart that I sit down to write Your Eminence. As a conscious, patriotic and progressive youth, I could not help but register my dissatisfaction with my country’s plight alongside a volley of plea to your administration to rescue this dire situation. Excuse the curtness of my manners. The intensity of my pain has almost robbed me entirely of formality. My passionate plea is not for a personal gain but for a revision of governments position on issues of health, poverty and education, the individual components forming the fulcrum around which our collective development and glory as a nation revolve.

Saturday’s election saw a heavy security by the combined forces of the police, officials of the State Security Service and civil defence officials.

There were more security officers than delegates who participated in the election at the Damlek Event Centre in Ado Ekiti.

Runner up, Mr Oni, has sent his cingratulatory message to Mr Fayemi on his victory and promised to stand fully behind him in the quest of his second coming as the Governor of Ekiti State.
