I didn't receive your email.

I won't advise a furnished apartment. You'll probably only get those at CBD and surrounding surburbs anyway, and they will be expensive (probably not less than$550/pw).

You could maybe send another email or drop your phone number.

Get accomodation in the south (you may want to check out surburbs like Durack). Houses there are cheaper. There are more Nigerians/Africans living in the south. You will have access to cheaper daycare run by Nigerians/Africans, unless you are ready to pay nothing less than $100per day(coz that's what you'll pay since your visa isn't entited to childcare subsidy).

Hello Everyone,

My family and I just moved to Brisbane. We are currently lodged at the accomodation provided by our sponsors but we will be out in a few days. Found a great apartment at Kedron, so the only headache/heartache/bodyache now is childcare fees - izz doing my heart somehow. We are not PR holders so you know how it is. Heard there are some family day care in Sydney that are cheaper than the regular pre-schools but the cheapest we've found here in Brisbane is $100per day. Please guys, I'm open to your experiences, advice and recommendations on this - PR or non PR holders.

Thank you.

Hello guys,

I am applying for Australian work VISA, the agent from my employer in Australia said that the DHA requires that my Police Clearance Certificate must include both my maiden name and current name. The issue now is that the police department insists that they only issue certificates with the names written on one's passport. Has anyone had this problem?

This whole process is not for the weak. Husband&I are still at the assessment stage; all documents complete; plan to submit to ICAA for assessment tomorrow. Our points will be 80 all things being equal. My worry now is that even at 80(using subclass 190), all we've got is a chance. Would the ogas in the house advise us to go ahead or maybe stick to Canada as the plan was to pursue both? Coz now I'm wondering what the points requirement for accountants will be by the time we are done with assessment.

Hello house,
Does anyone have the old ICAN syllabus...the one before 2014?
Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Alexxiss: 4:52pm On Sep 13, 2018
Hi guys, I'm back again. Still on the ICAA issue. Please if you were assessed by ICAA, I really need your help. I need to know if I can do without submitting the handbook/syllabus as required. It has been really difficult/annoying getting this from OAU. Now they are saying I have to show up to collect handbook. Imagine going all the way to Ife for departmental handbook. I sent someone there and they wouldn't give. Please did anyone get assessed without the handbook/ syllabus?
Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Alexxiss: 11:10am On Sep 10, 2018
Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate.

I've got another question please, for any OAU alumnus or anyone who can relate. We have decided to go with ICAA, but one of the requirements is 'University Handbook' which will show a detailed description of all courses taken.
So has anyone obtained syllabus from OAU economics. The syllabus should be the one before the curriculum changed in 2012.
Thank you.

toslad:
I think a colour scan copy will do. That is what I used for ICAA, so I think it should work for CPA too.

Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Alexxiss: 9:50pm On Aug 31, 2018
Hello everyone. I need your help please.

One of the required documents for CPA assessment is "Official Academic Transcipts". My question now is
1) Must the transcript be sent by the awarding body(OAU) to the assessing body(CPA), or
2) would it be okay to upload my copy to the online application?

Thank You.

Okay, noted!
Thanks so much again sir. God bless you.

In my case, CPA recognized my work experience prior to ICAN certification. Economics is closer to Accounting than my first degree. However, some years were deducted from my years of experience and the reason was that my job duties at the period was not performed at the level required for my ANZSCO code. Although, the years recognized were more than enough to get me the maximum point.

So I will advise that he structure all his job duties to be highly relevant without any gap.

Bottom line, years of experience are recognized immediately after B.Sc once the duties are relevant to ANZSCO code duties.

It will end in praise.

......

Hi, thanks again for the other time.

Pls do you think that the assessing body will start counting his work experience from when he became ICAN certified being that his first degree is in economics and not accounting or it doesn't matter?
I just want to be sure to know the years of experience he can claim.

Thanks

1a) Your hubby has a good chance

1b) His degree will fly with CPA or ICAA. He graduated from the Only African University (aka Oba Awon University). Hence, his degree is like the Harvard of Africa. Help shout Great Ife!!! 3 times to him when he's back home. So many would have paid a fortune to attend that school.

1c) He can go for General Accountant or External Auditor (External Auditor and Internal Auditor possess the same skill set). I however recommend External Auditor as Accountants invitation is currently frozen.

2. This is the reason I suggest he goes for Gen. Accountant or External Auditor to avoid vetasses wahala. Cheaper, faster and favourable outcome

3. YES. Its very much worth it. You can assess your own qualification and add 5 points to his (If your occupation is on the list). Alternatively, he can go for state sponsorship and with 75 points + 5 points SS, he will most likely get it within a month

4. Yes. NSW have Accountant and Auditors on their priority list and they do not require job offer.

So whatever he wants to do, he should do quickly as rumour mills have it that changes (massive ones) are coming to the immigration process.

It will end in praise.

Hello everyone, you guys are doing a great job here. I have taken time to go through some parts of the thread but I need your advice.

My husband will be the principal applicant. He has a BSc in Economics from OAU, ICAN and 7 years experience as an Auditor/Accountant.

Age: 30 points
Education: 15 points
English: hopefully 20 points
Experience: 10 points
Total: 75 points

1) Please what are his chances? Will his degree fly or must he have a degree in accounting to qualify? And what occupation do you advice with his profile; Internal Auditor or Accountant?

2) I have read here about people having issues with VETAsses ( getting associate degree and cutting years of experience), Would this apply in our case?

3) Also, do you think it's worth it with 75 points considering the recent high points requirements for those occupations?

4) Are there any states nominating any of those occupations that do not require a job offer?

I'm sorry for asking too.much, but I want to be sure of what to do before we start.

Thanks a lot in anticipation...
