Nairaland / General / Almajiri In Northern Nigeria: Misconceptions, Misrepresentations And Evolution by AliuYusuf: 2:34pm On Oct 01, 2019
When you hear the word "Almajiri" the first four things that comes to your mind as a Nigerian is the north, children, beggers & muslims. But all these are far from the reality of what the word represents. Today, the constant misrepresentations, misconceptions, mispractice and abuse of the almajiri system has made it & all those who is in it's practice a problem to the Nigerian society. Almajiri is not an arabic word neither will you find it in the Quran which is written (originally) in arabic. The closest of which you will find of this word in islam is the word "Almuhajir" the plural of which is "Almuhajirun" which refers to those early Muslims who believed in Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) after he started the call to Islam. Because of their faith, the Muhajiruns were subject to the oppression, persecution and torture of Meccan idolaters, and they left Mecca for Medina as the dosage of persecutions and tortures became unbearable which made it practically impossible to call people to Islam.
No where did the Quran mentioned the word "Almajiri" and neither does it share same meaning with the word "Almuhajirun" as claimed by some misleading self aclaimed Islamic religious scholars who hide under the umbrella of religion to carry out their evil acts. The term Al- Muhajirun was “Hausanised” to refer to Almajirai (plural of Almajiri), the term generally referred today to seekers of Islamic knowledge who leaves their towns or villages to be able to concentrate their energy towards acquiring beneficial knowledge that guarantees the child a better, brighter, hounorable and outstanding future that will make him an asset to his society, country and continent at large. Some people travel as far as to other countries to serve this purpose. It was an hounorable, excellent, beneficial and dignifiable practice in the north. Even some of our prominent northerners doing extremely well today in the society were once enrolled in this beautiful practice at that time. But today we are seeing how something so beautiful have been tarnished, abused, traduced and totally transformed into a horrible practice that nothing good can forth come from. This once beautiful practice is now runned today by mediocres and opportunist whose practice in the system has defaced, deminish and abase the originality of its purpose and has become a breeding ground for child begging and potential terrorist’s in Nigeria, typifying child abuse, social exclusion and chronic poverty with the present day almajirci (the process of being an almajiri) substituting begging for learning. Parents of the almajirai child most of whom are northerners have taking advantage of the system to run away from responsibilities by abdicating their obligations of properly caring for and educating their children. Most of this parents enroll their children in the system without any financial support of their care which makes them a burden on the Alims/Malammai (Qur’anic teachers) thereby pushing them (the Almajirai's) into all forms of deliquencies and crimes as a means of livelihood. People are quick to judge an almajiri as a societal nuisance forgetting this children are victims of bad parenting and poor governance which exposes the almajiri child to social vices. Many narratives on the almajiri system are flawed because they fail to recognize the nuances of the practice or properly distinguish who among the total population of youth are almajirai. Some people mistakes the today almajiri system for islamiyyah which are two different things entirely. Infact in some parts of the country, almajiri is insinuated to mean or categorically used as a general label for poor northerners. Some people blame the almajiri system as the reason for crimes and violence in the northern region which is an oversimplification of Nigeria's problem in a way that obscures the economic causes of social violence. Such generalizations reflect little understanding of what almajirci is or of where almajirai are situated within the broader youth demographic in northern Nigeria. Almajiri, as a general label for delinquent youth, is not only misleading, but also stigmatizing. State policy makers needs to understand that the moral indignation about the almajirai is no substitute for purposeful social policy. In December 2010, the Nigerian government incorporated the National Framework for the Development and Integration of Almajiri Education into the Universal Basic Education (UBE) scheme (UBEC 2010). The framework was aimed at establishing over a hundred almajiri schools, which is facilitated by a $98 million project agreement between Nigeria and the Islamic Development Bank. In May 2013, as reported by channels TV, Vice President Namadi Sambo announced 124 schools had already been completed, with more scheduled to be built. A key goal of the project is to prevent radicalization of children and recruitment by Islamist militants as some military officials have claimed with no concrete evidence of support that the almajiri's work as foot soldiers of Boko Haram. However, it is questionable whether the government is just diverting funds that could have been used to address socioeconomic challenges faced by the broader youth population, not just almajirai. This is particularly important because if the threat posed by Boko Haram has socioeconomic roots, then almajirai would not be the only candidates for recruitment. The constant failure of the Nigerian government in the totality of dealing with problems of where and how, is what has & will continuously give rise to all manners of crime related industries including yahoo-yahoo, kidnapping, banditry, insurgency and a lot more yet to come.

Crime / Kidnapping, The Multimillion Naira Industry Headquatered In Kaduna by AliuYusuf: 2:44am On Sep 14, 2019
It is no longer news that Kaduna stands as a breeding ground to Nigeria's Multimillion Naira Industry which is Kidnapping. There is no sector in the country today making more money than the kidnapping industry headquatered in kaduna. Encounters on the Kaduna-Abuja high way is a proof to this with kidnappings occuring almost on a daily. Recently the Kaduna State government has claimed the road to be now safe but this is far from the reality. As of the time of this claim by the Kaduna State Government, 7 people were kidnapped and 3 others lost their lives when former governor of Gombe State , Ibrahim Dankwambo, escaped being kidnapped on this same road claimed to be safe, the video proof of which can be found on his Twitter handle @MrYTanko recorded by his secuirity aide. Even the train from Abuja-Kaduna Solely built to revive our railway system in addition to aiding the poor masses in their interstate commercial activities is no longer what it is. Tickets are now sold at a higher price much more than the number of sits available and if you are lucky to get one you would have to stand all through the journey because the rich has taking all the seats. Even our secuirity operatives who are supposed to be at the forefront of fighting this menace are now struggling for a stand on the train. Everytime such a crime happens and the victims of such crimes later gets release, these same secuirity operatives are quick to say no ransome was paid which is a lie. The recent of which is the kidnapping of the Ahmadu Bello University final year students where the Kaduna State police command public relations officer , DSP Yakubu Sabo said no ransome was paid for their release which the families of these victims has come out saying otherwise that 5.5million was paid to secure their release. A member of parliament from one of the northern states was abducted along Kaduna-Abuja highway, and N10Million was reported to have been paid before his release in 2017. Few days after, a family of four were kidnapped on same highway before they were later released on ransome paid. Similarly, Dr. Abdulmalik Durun-guwa, who was kidnapped and later his wife, settled the kidnappers N7million to gain his freedom.
On 6 August, 2019 gunmen killed the resident pastor of the Living Faith Church, Romi New Extension, in Kaduna State, Pastor Jeremiah Omolewa on the Kaduna -Abuja highway and in the process abducted his wife and 50 million naira demanded for her release. In the preceding week after the wife was released, another pastor in charge of the Nagarta Baptist Church Ungwan Makiri, close to Udawa in Chikun Local Government Area of the state was also abducted.
Infact this issue of kidnapping is not just on the Kaduna-Abuja highway alone. On 30 August, 2019, the Kaduna State House of Assembly Member representing Zaria Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo was kidnapped on Kaduna-Zaria highway. Infact this guys are now moving away from carrying out their activities on highways to now operating in town. This situation is becoming more and more worrisome with no hope of it ending any time soon. There is no place for the masses to turn to for hope even up to the federal level because if a relative of the president (President Muhammadu Buhari) could be kidnapped for 2 months and ransome paid for his release despite denial from secuirity operatives then who are we to complain to when it happens to us.

In all of this, you haven't actually stated any particular issue or what particular thing you think TECNO is doing wrong or a particular promise hey made on their brand that they haven't fulfilled.

Stay clear off tecno products my brother. Presently as i am talking to you, my Tspot account (their official social media app) have been blocked because i spoke the truth.
Phones / Tecno's Way Of Killing The Truth by AliuYusuf: 3:20pm On Sep 11, 2019
Good afternoon everyone. Recently, tecno posted a contest on Tspot (Their official social media app) using its official HIOS handle to announce a competition tagged the "HIOS Creative Kid Contest" open to all tecno users. Where we were expected to post photos of any kid relative of ours interfacing/engaged in the use of its mobile device. Attached to this in making a valid entry into the contest was also the need to go online (facebook), tag 10 friends and family members asking them to like, share, comment and support the brand via facebook which you will find on their official facebook handle with the page name of HIOS and the post dated september 9 at about 7:11pm.
Thesame post was placed on Tspot through their official handle carrying the HIOS name. After seeing this post, i made a comment of which i told tecno that organizing shitty contest won't prompt us to give them support when they have failed to do the needful despite several complains of its mobile users. When they do the needful, we will give them support both offline and online without them even asking. To my supprise this comment of mine soaked in a 100% truthfulness was too much for tecno to swallow and this prompted tecno to pull down the post on Tspot leaving information of the contest now available only on their facebook handle.

After that incident, I made a post on the forum with the subject "3 Reasons Why Tecno May Not Be The Right Brand For You" which you will also find on the phone section of science/technology forum on nairaland carrying thesame subject and username, same as my Tspot handle addressing critical issues on customer satisfactory, relationship and retention aspects where tecno has failed. This post of mine was too much for tecno who claimed to be Africa's leading brand to handle and they pulled it down again. There are people on the Tspot platform who will bear witness to the existence of the post before it was pulled down, some of who even took the time to comment on the platform but go through all post on the forum section of Tspot dated september 10 and you would not find it there anymore because tecno can't deal with the truth.

As of this morning, from 8am-1pm, I couldn't log into my Tspot account because it keeps giving me an error message of "INVALID USER I.D" not until moments ago. I have taking this bold step to let you all know of tecno's intent on killing the truth. I don't know how long my account will remain active on Tspot as there is no doubt the brand is taking a step to silence anyone that decides to speak of its deceit.

Everyday Tspot (tecno official social media platform) is visited by thousands of tecno mobile users, most of which just navigate through the whole site without adding value to its fellow users. Despite the complains, some people just come online, scroll through without addressing any issue of their fellow tecno mobile users. Even if you don't have the solution to their problems at least join them in speaking up but some of us are too self centered and care less because we fill it is not happening to us, so it is not our problem. I swear to God, if everyone of tecno users should take this upon themselves in letting the world know, be it offline or online of the scam that tecno is then this problem would have been solved a long time ago. Go on twitter,facebook, instagram anything you can do in your own small way to let people know that this brand is a scam, that is when they will begin to see us as a concern because for now tecno has played us all to assume god and remains god in the Nigerian mobile market and our silence is to blame for it. I know some will say they didn't know before buying their product but now that you do what have you done to change the situation? Am asking you that is reading, answer na. See eh, people suffer in the hands of the bad ones because the good ones chose not to speak up. The Dakolo's case got even international attention because people spoke up, this is a matter that some people don't even have proof of yet they spoke up why can't we do thesame in this case that concerns us and we know of and have proof of? I made a simlar post like this on Tspot which am sure may be my last because i know tecno will act by either deleting the post or my account entirely but me i will continue to talk both offline and online till tecno begins to do the needful. Am taking this to twitter, facebook and all media outlets very soon to call on all necessary bodies which involves consumer protection council because it's high time tecno begins to do the needful or give space for other brands. Who ever reads this should please keep record and repost on all media platforms until it gets to the necessary authorities and even if they don't act because i know how Nigeria can be, still speak up and let people know so as not to fall victims of tecno's deceit like you and I. Support the movement, say no to cheap services that leaves you in detriment.
Please refer to the post I placed earlier on before this one to see where issues involving tecno's deceit I had discussed. Click the link below to read through

Phones / 3 Reasons Why Tecno May Not Be The Right Brand For You by AliuYusuf: 8:51am On Sep 11, 2019
With loads of mobile brands out there and tecno appearing or seeming to be Africa's No.1 mobile brand with its latest award at the africa information technology and telecoms award 2019, here are 3 reasons why tecno may not be the right brand for you.

(1) Negligence of the provision of O.S update-->

With android version 10 upon us already,you will be supprised to know that the tecno phantom 8 which is the predecessor to tecno Phantom 9 launched earlier this year still runs on android nougat (android version 7). This negligence of tecno to tend to their old device in meeting up new trends in the technological world while dishing out new mobile devices under the brand name has been among a few the major reason behind users abandoning the brand. As of today (11-Sept-2019), tecno has dished out 8 mobile device (camon 12, camon 12 air, camon 12 pro, phantom 9, pouvoir 3, pouvoir 3 plus, tecno spark 3 and tecno spark 3 pro) all within a span of 9months, with no doubt that users of this devices will never see an update to the android version of their device from tecno, some of which were ignorantly built to run on old android versions despite their launch this year. So if you really want a mobile device that would stay up to date on O.S version, then tecno is not for you. Tecno brands itself with the pride of running the old in a new era.

(2) Negligence of users complain-->

If you have been a Tspot active member you would know that this is no longer news. This platform (Tspot) created by tecno to bridge the gap of communication between the brand & its users have been flooded with unattended complains of its mobile users. Go through the list of complains on Tspot and you will find thousands of unattended complains of its users ranging from Nigeria to all its countries of operations. In pretence of holding its customers at high esteem, the aclaimed tecno service help centre carlcare was created to propagate more of its deceit. Ripping of users with its swap deal launched recently which offers users the chance to swap their old mobile device for a new one at an exorbitant price. People who have patronized this so called swap deals have spoken up on Tspot on how their phone was given a worth value equal to that of a scrap device in addition to an exorbitant price rate to be paid in order to get a new one at the swap deal. Carlcare which is supposed to attend to faulty issues of the tecno brand is packed with quack mobile engineers who knows nothing about phone repairs. There is no guarantee that taking your faulty tecno mobile device to carlcare would get fixed even to a slight extent. You go there with same problem and in lots of cases leaves with same problem. Free services claimed by tecno to be offered at carlcare are still paid for, an example of which is the free screen replacement which is valid within the warranty period is still paid for at carlcare which literally makes it not free.

(3) Deceit-->

Sometimes around last year, tecno users experienced a problem which has to do with the mobile fonts of their device. Tecno lied on fixing the problem on three different occassions only to have it fixed on a few of its devices after users threatened an online protest against the brand to expose its lies but this didn't stop the brand's deceits.
The latest of this deceit is that of the camon 12 pro which belongs to the camon 12 series. Tecno told the world that all of its camon 12 series device runs on a 4000mah battery (proof of which can be found on their official website and on the brand Tspot handle) but this wasn't the reality as the camon 12 pro runs on a 3500mah battery far lesser than any in its series which leaves you wondering how it bags the name "PRO". Without doubt, we are yet to see the end to tecno's deceit which has led the brand to win the africa information technology and telecoms award phone of the year with its spark 3 device which is a calculator compared to brand's like huawei who manufactured the first mobile phone of 2019 ever created capable of running on a 5G network and this leaves you wondering about the sincerity and integrity of the organizers of such an award.
Mobile users of 2017 mobile devices of huawei, infinix,xiaomi and umidigi amongst a few mobile brands currently has the latest android version update on their device but for tecno, it's otherwise.

There is no doubt tecno devices are cheaper compared to others with same look but with cheapness comes its own price to pay. They may appear/look same with other brands carrying same look but the hardwares in tecno devices and services offered by tecno is as cheap as the money you paid for its device.
