No na! this is bad! what will dey teach their daughters! "my dear daughter any time you want to be taken seriously just remove your clothes or go topless!" CastedDude: It was earlier reported today how angry protesters took their agitation to another level after blocking all major roads leading to the Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma,Bayelsa State. The protesters - comprising the host community, the staff of the Niger Delta University, including cleaners and gardeners, have locked all offices and also blocked the main entrance to the institution...
Some aggrieved protestors went as far as stripping and being topless during the demonstration.
They are said to be protesting against the administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson over an alleged marginalization of the people of Amassoma, and that they want the whole world to know that the ongoing civil service reforms being carried out in the NDU by the state government is mainly targeted at the people of Amassoma Community.

Politics / Re: Gov. Dickson Bags Nation Award, As Borno Gov. Describes Him As A Change Agent by aminatahiru: 3:20pm On May 11, 2018 |
yeah he is indeed an agent of change BayelsaLegacy: The Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shetima has described the Countryman Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson as a change agent of the century! He said Dickson has not only revolutionised agriculture in Bayelsa State but has changed the negative narrative of the state by enthroning sustainable development and peace in the only homogenous Ijaw State.
A press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Francis Ottah Agbo noted that the Borno State Governor commended Dickson on Thursday while delivering a goodwill message at the maiden edition of the Nation Newspaper First Summit On Food and Agriculture which held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja. Both Dickson and Shettima were also conferred with award of excellence in agriculture. Dickson was particularly honoured for the development of rural agro-business and for using agriculture generally to diversify the Bayelsa economy beyond oil, through wealth creation, training, retraining and skills acquisition in agriculture.
Chief amongst the legacy agriculture projects/programmes that earned Governor Dickson the award are: the 8 aquaculture villages in the state with a 500- Fish Pond at Yenegwe, Yenagoa as the flagship, the Commercial Cassava Plant Factory and Cassava Out Grower Scheme at Ebidebri, Oil Palm Plantation Development Projects, Integrated Poultry Farm Projects, Rice Development Initiatives, Ultra-Modern Fish Farm Projects etc.
Shettima said Nigeria can thrive on agriculture because according to him, all regions have comparative advantages, noting that the North is blessed with cereal, the middle belt can provide tuber needs while the south can provide the fish demand. He said if "we are serious as a nation, our national food security is guaranteed.
Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi also hailed Dickson for his initiatives in agriculture which he said are people-oriented. He averred that Bayelsa State has the capacity to be the rice hub of the nation, because the "land is fertile and water is available for irrigation..." and commended the Governor for working in this direction.
The Nation award was received on behalf of Dickson by his Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Doodei Week. Governor Dickson dedicated the award to the good people of Bayelsa State and the Ijaw Nation. The Governor commended Vintage Press Limited, publishers of the Nation newspapers for appreciating his modest efforts in Bayelsa State, stressing that the award will spur him to do more for Bayelsans.

Politics / Re: Mrs Dickson Set To Pay Pregnant Women Monthly To Reduce Maternal Mortality.... by aminatahiru: 4:02pm On May 09, 2018 |
thank you ma ! pregnant women's health is IMPORTANT BayelsaLegacy: The wife of Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. Racheal Dickson, says as part of the measures to reduce the rate of maternal/infant mortality in the state, the government will henceforth pay pregnant women on a monthly basis.
She said the stipend would enable the pregnant women to buy whatever they need during the pregnancy period, stressing that the government would also care for them medically to reduce cases of maternal and infant mortality.
Mrs. Dickson said the recent pronouncement by the state government of providing support for pregnant women in the state was part of efforts geared towards reducing maternal and infant mortality in the state.
She spoke in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, during the commencement of a three-day programme for ‘Royal Queens’ in the Niger Delta organised by the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Wives’ Association, a Government House statement said on Friday.
She said the government was concerned about the wellbeing of pregnant women and had put in place measures to ensure they get monthly stipend and other benefits until they safely give birth to their baby.
She expressed worry over the number of avoidable deaths, saying most of them would not have occurred if adequate care was given to the women.
According to her, every pregnant woman in the state is very important to the government as the nine months’ period of their pregnancy is very sensitive and requires the needed attention.
Mrs. Dickson said, “We will be paying our women who are pregnant monthly to ensure they are able to buy whatever they need. We will also care for them medically to ensure that cases of maternal and infant mortality are reduced.
“Most of the deaths you hear of involving pregnant women could have been avoided if they were well cared for. We are concerned about such avoidable deaths and by God’s grace, we will reduce and even stop it.”
While calling on pregnant women to take advantage of the offer by visiting government-owned hospitals, she also advised them against foods that are not good for them during their pregnancy.
Mrs Dickson equally urged the visiting Queens to use their positions to support women, especially girl-child education, saying the government in Bayelsa is strongly championing.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, charged the royal queens to play their role in actualising the dreams of young women and also get involved in nation building.
In her welcome address, the Convener of the summit, Josephine Diete-Spiff, called on her colleagues to lead the way to educate and empower those looking up to them

Politics / Re: Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson Football Tournament Christened Restoration Cup 2018 by aminatahiru: 4:00pm On May 09, 2018 |
this is ahhh mazing! well done sir BayelsaLegacy: Communities, neighbourhoods, schools, media houses, banks and even the military have teams taking part in the tournament and it certainly has all of them excited.
There are so many people to thank for conceiving the idea of a state-wide football tournament in Bayelsa, and seeing to the actualisation of that vision, but mention must be made of a handful of aides to the governor of the state, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, for putting together, the very first edition in 2015 and for this sophomore effort that has now received the endorsement and financial support of the sports-loving governor himself.
Men like Honourable Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information and Orientation; Honourable PerekiyeBuruboyefe, the Commissioner for Sports Development; Ono Akpe, the Director General of the Tournament, and Daniel Alabrah, its public relations honcho deserve commendation for driving the competition and running it with the professionalism expected in top class leagues around the world.
Indeed, beyond the Restoration Cup, Bayelsa state has a lot to teach the rest of the country when it comes to sports development and showing appreciation to our sports heroes. The recent largesse ranging from N1.5 to N500k dished out by the governor of the state, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson to the medal-winning wrestling contingent to the 2017 Commonwealth games in Gold Coast Australia, when he hosted the Wrestling Federation in Yenagoa comes to mind.
The students on full state government scholarship at the newly establish Sports Academy, Asuama, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, a project initiated and completed by the Restoration Government of Governor Dickson is another area the state is making a difference. No doubt the children attending the school today, and those who would be admitted to study there in the coming years would grow up into sports champions and national icons.
Most of them will profit from their time in the academy and because of the huge investments made by the Restoration Governor, these young Bayelsans will make the country proud in the field of sports they choose to specialise in.
Banning the sale of codeine, an addictive substance that has turned so many of our youths into drug addicts and the reason perhaps behind the raising crime profile in parts of the country, is a commendable move by the federal government. However, to my mind, what our youths need more than anything else is the opportunity to discover hidden talents and skills that will keep them busy while providing them with a source of income. Identifying and helping to improve skills in football and other sports is a good thing that must be supported by all and sundry.

you are accountable sir BayelsaLegacy: The resumption of work on the Yenagoa-Oporoma Road linking the vast mangrove swamp of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to mainland Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, has again ignited fresh hope for indigenes of the area.
The project when completed, is expected to transform the fortunes of the oil and gas-rich, but neglected communities in the council area, majority of which are not accessible by road.
Niger-Delta Voice recalled that the speed at which the job was handled at the commencement of the project had fuelled public confidence that the road would hit Oporoma, the council headquarters, in record time.
However, the project suffered a setback in the wake of the recession that rocked the nation as government could not meet its contractual obligation due to the fall in allocation from the federation accounts.
Interestingly, the Governor Seriake Dickson-led administration has again rekindled the hope that Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Council Area and its adjoining communities would be accessible by road in no distant time by re-mobilising to site, the Chinese owned construction company, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, handling the road project.
NDV recalled that Governor Dickson during his 2018 budget presentation to the state House of Assembly had said “our projection is to further advance the senatorial roads. By January, contractors will be mobilised to the Yenagoa-Oporoma road.
“We intend in the first and second quarter of next year to conclude the sand-filling of that very important road and then commence construction. We may not be able to achieve completion to Oporoma, but we will try our best.”

always true to his words BayelsaLegacy: Gov. Dickson agrees on collaboration to catalyze the industrialization of Bayelsa.
Governor Dickson on the 4th of May 2018 paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner.
In his remark, Governor Dickson commended Mr. Sylvester for his people oriented leadership and used the opportunity to offer condolences on behalf of the people of Bayelsa state to the mayor and the people of Houston for the January 1st, 2017 hurricane incident.
The governor further stated that he came with a strong delegation from Bayelsa to attend the 2018 edition of the OTC and raised issues of interest about the Agge deep-sea port, the opportunities there are in oil and gas in Bayelsa state, the state's economic diversification drive and the utilization of the abundant gas reserves in the state to catalyze the Industrialization that Bayelsa and Nigeria rightly needed.
Governor Dickson expressed delight at the success of his visit to Houston and used the opportunity to solicit for another visit for closer interactions with the business community in Houston as well as the support of the mayor in enlisting Bayelsa into the World Energy City partnership.
In his response, Sylvester Turner appreciated Governor Dickson and his team for the gesture stating that the city of Houston is the most diverse city in the country and there are over 150,000 Nigerians resident in the city. He promised to provide support for Bayelsa state especially in line with the specific requests made by the governor.
In closing, the Mayor solicited for Governor Dickson’s support in getting a Nigerian Consulate office situated in Houston.

Politics / Re: Bayelsa Govt Urges Review Of Extant Revenue Sharing Formula by aminatahiru: 3:15pm On May 03, 2018 |
a great step to a better future. BayelsaLegacy: Bayelsa State Government has restated the need for a review of the extant revenue sharing formula in the country to enable state governments pay appropriate wages to workers.
The state Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (retd), made the call while responding to a number of issues raised by the organised labour in the state.
John-Jonah, in a statement in Yenagoa, yesterday, noted that labour has contributed immensely to nation building over the years. The deputy governor, said: ” The minimum wage is a very serious issue in the country but we must also be cautious how we go about it.
“The states must have inputs because we should not make promises that we cannot fulfil.
“As we speak, some states can’t pay the N18,000 minimum wage because of the existing revenue sharing formula between the federal and other tiers of government.”
On the salary arrears owed workers, he explained that government had initially promised to offset the arrears based on expected Paris Club refund before March this year, but attributed the failure to “circumstances beyond its control.”

thank you for being true to your word! BayelsaLegacy: The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, has not left anybody in doubt about the determination of his Restoration Government to tackle decisively the challenge of education in the state. And he has opted to take on the seemingly daunting challenge of illiteracy with sustained efforts anchored on innovation.
Right from the inception of his Restoration Government in 2012, Dickson highlighted the pertinence of education to the realization of a developed Bayelsa State. This quest to exploit the tool of education as the lasting parapet for societal development made Dickson to declare emergency in the education sector of the state.
Since Dickson mounted the podium to make that defining declaration to embark on intensified deliberate measures to promote education in 2012, so much progress has been made in the sector. A leader with a burning passion for the development of the human mind, Dickson devoted a chunk of available resources in the state to the provision of accessible quality education.
Like the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dickson holds the view that no investment would be too great for the promotion of learning and its culture in Bayelsa.

awesome ! this is a good way to encourage the athlete's by providing a good training environment for them. keep up the good work sir. BayelsaLegacy: As part of its plans to institutionalise wrestling, the Bayelsa state government has concluded plans to build an ultra-modern wrestling gym in the state capital, Yenagoa.
This was disclosed by the state governor Henry Seriake Dickson during a reception in Yenagoa in honour of Team Nigeria wrestlers to the recently-concluded 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, on Tuesday.
“I have told Daniel Igali (President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation) that before the end of this year, we would have finished the construction of a modern wrestling gym in Yenagoa,” Governor Dickson promised.
“We have already awarded the contract. Let me direct the finance team by next week, to release 50% of the cost to the contractor. I believe before the end of this year, a number of you will be invited so that we can commission it, and put that to use.”
According to Dickson, embarking on such project is a statement of the fact that the state is a hub for wrestling in Africa.
“All that is to underscore the fact that this State (Bayelsa) is the headquarters of wrestling in our continent,” he stated.
When completed, the wrestling gym will be used for the preparation of athletes for major competitions, as well as hosting of championships.

Politics / Re: "Apc Can't Win Elections In Bayelsa" Gov. Dickson by aminatahiru: 1:42pm On Apr 26, 2018 |
its a fact BayelsaLegacy: Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has once more boasted that the All Progressives Congress cannot win elections in the state.
He alleged that the APC in Bayelsa “is a party harbouring, protecting and arming criminals to kill innocent citizens, hence it can never be entrusted with the people’s mandate.”
The governor made the assertion in the Government House, Yenagoa, during the inauguration of six new Special Advisers, a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Francis Agbo, said on Wednesday.
Top among those sworn in by the governor were Mr. Guy Murray-Bruce, who was assigned Special Adviser, Entertainment and Tourism Development and a former lawmaker and APC chief, Ayiba Duba, who took charge as Special Adviser Political Matters (II).
Dickson noted that the PDP, through the restoration government under his watch, had transformed the landscape of Bayelsa and provided credible leadership to the people.
While congratulating Duba for defecting from the APC to the PDP, the governor called on a few other good people who had seen the deceit, emptiness and criminality in the ruling APC to return to the PDP.”
The governor also inaugurated the Teacher Training, Registration and Certification Board, stressing that henceforth, all public and private school teachers would undergo training, retraining and certification by the board as part of quality control measures.
He also applauded Murray-Bruce for his achievements in the entertainment industry.
He urged him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the state with the view to making Bayelsa a tourism and entertainment hub in the country. Dickson said, “ I have said it again and again that the APC cannot win any election in this state. Bayelsa remains a stronghold of the PDP. The people of Bayelsa know what the PDP is doing for them in terms of leadership and development.
“So they will not allow themselves to be deceived by the other party that has clearly shown to Nigerians they do not have anything to offer this country.”

Education / Re: Bayelsa Varsity Compiles List Of 1,700 Workers For Redeployment, Dismissal by aminatahiru: 1:58pm On Apr 20, 2018 |
you are indeed are wise leader, you don't patronize anyone and you do what is right for the good of your people .they may not like it right now but these decisions you have made will surely create a better tomorrow. BayelsaLegacy: The Governing Council and Management of the Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University (NDU) has thrown its weight behind the state government’s ongoing public service reforms.
Describing the move as good for the state, Chairman of the Council, Prof. Steve Azaiki said the reforms had already thrown up a list of 1,700 workers of the university for redeployment, retirement and outright dismissal.
Speaking in Yenagoa after a meeting between the state Governor Seriake Dickson and the Governing Board of the school, Azaiki, expressed the council’s readiness to implement the government’s policy of sanitizing the public service.
He noted that a practice where the university solely depended on the state government to fund its over-bloated workforce was unsustainable.
He commended Dickson for his bold steps and absolved the governor of any blames in the current shake-up that affected 1,700 workers in the university.
He said: “It was the leadership of the university that listed the affected staff following the outcome of a discreet verification to make for more efficiency, better service delivery as well as create space for the employment of young qualified people, particularly Bayelsans.
“The amount of money that government has been giving to NDU is not sustainable. Suppose oil price falls or there are issues of governance or politics, anything can happen and then the university will collapse. So, we need to look inwards and see how we can come up with a sustainable figure.
“We are going to look at the list again especially in the case of NDU. We provided to the government, 1700 non-academic staff that we think should be redeployed or should be disengaged by the institution to make sure that the policy of government is effective.
“However, one of the key things the governor said in the meeting, is that, there could be need for us to reabsorb most of these people. So, Council will meet and review the list, and we will come up with a solution on how best we can help our own people.
“After all, some of them are due for retirement, some are incompetent while others are facing disciplinary actions. So, we will make separate recommendations for all the cases because I believe that the Governor is ready to accommodate Bayelsans in our system. So there is no need for people to take laws into their hands.”
While, urging labour unions to show understanding and play by the rules of engagement, Azaiki warned students and lecturers against social vices such as cultism and sexual harassment.
He insisted that the university would not only expel or sack anyone found culpable, but also work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure the prosecution of such persons.
Also speaking, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of NDU, Prof Samuel Edoumiekumo described rumours making the rounds that, the university increased its school fees, as malicious, blatant lies and the height of blackmail.
According to the Vice Chancellor, returning students in management and social sciences, education are paying N35, 000, while their counterparts in the medical sciences pay N45, 000 as against the N230, 000 and N250.000 insinuated in some quarters.
While calling on parents and guardians, as well as the general public to ignore the rumours, he urged all concerned stakeholders to visit the institution’s website to avail themselves of the official fee structure of the university.
Edoumiekumo restated the university’s resolve to implement the rules and regulations as enshrined in the students’ handbook.
He said that any student who failed to pay their schools within the stipulated period of payment would be sanctioned accordingly.
On his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs, Mr. Austin Adigio said the governor created a new platform to foster a stronger students-government relationship to enable him interact more closely with students on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
He reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to building the state for posterity through education and stressed the need for students to remain law abiding.
He said the government would deal decisively with anyone caught fomenting trouble to scuttle the academic calendar of any institution in the state.

well-done sir! every governor in Nigeria should come and learn from you. the transparency in your governance in amiable. Reformation is not always easy it takes focus and conviction and you have all this qualities and more, keep at it for those who blackmail you today will sing your praise tomorrow . BayelsaLegacy: Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Tuesday said no amount of blackmail or propaganda would stop his administration from carrying out its public sector reforms, “which is aimed at stopping the rot in the state’s civil service.”
Mr Dickson stated this during a meeting with the various reform committees headed by the Deputy Governor, Gboribiogha John-Jonah, stakeholders and labour leaders in Government House, Yenagoa.
In a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Francis OAgbo, Governor Dickson lamented the current situation “where workers stay idle at home and receive salaries”.
He noted that the ongoing reforms are to reposition the public sector for optimal performance, while also assuring genuine workers that, they have nothing to be afraid of as government means well for them.
According to him, the reforms which started in 2012 when he assumed office have started yielding fruit, in view of the drastic reduction in the monthly wage bill of the state from about N6 billion to N4 billion. He said the reforms are in the best interest of the people of the state.
He pointed out that with the reforms, more funds will be available for infrastructure development and healthcare delivery, while the economy of the state will equally be boosted to the overall benefit of the people.
He thanked the deputy governor, sub-committee chairmen and members of the various reform committees for their hard work and commitment, as well as labour leaders for their show of understanding to ensure the successful implementation of the reforms. He called for more cooperation between labour and the government.
Mr Dickson stressed that the reforms would help prevent wastage and leakages.
According to him, he will not to hand over a public sector riddled with payroll fraud, truancy and absenteeism among others to a new government in 2020. He said he would help ensure Bayelsa workers imbibe the spirit of dignity in labour.
“I want to commend the hardworking workers for our state as well as labour union leaders, who are part of this exercise for their understanding. I am aware of the misinformation out their but I promise you that from now on, you will see more interaction to douse this misinformation.
“Overall I want to assure the state and the public service that this government means well for the state. The public service reforms is in the interest of the state and if we say we all love this state then we must work together to reposition the state. We cannot be a state with an inefficient, fraudulent and indiscipline public service.
“What goes on in this state cannot be tolerated in other states. The public service is place where you see dedicated, disciplined and committed people who are trained to serve their people to the best of their ability and retire with honour and dignity. You cannot have a workforce where people stay in the payroll and collect salaries they did not work for,” he added.

Politics / Re: FG Looters’ Lists Childish – Dickson by aminatahiru: 10:15am On Apr 19, 2018 |
of course the looters list is a huge distraction! distracting the entire public from their failure. APC considers PDP as a threat and they will do any and everything to make sure PDP looses in 2019. the fact Remains that the present Administration has failed and there is no way they can unite Nigeria when they are the cause of the division. 11Ebisco: Yenagoa – Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Wednesday described as childish and uncalled-for the looters’ lists released by the Federal Government and celebrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Condemning the move of the Federal Government, Dickson said the looters’ lists were a total distraction on the polity.
He spoke during a live media interview in his office in Yenagoa, the state capital.
He stated that “the cluelessness and insensitivity of the APC has left the country divided more than ever before” and called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently unite Nigeria.
According to him, the ruling APC is grossly fragmented and disorganised and had failed abysmally.
He also condemned what he termed the constant demonisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the APC.
Dickson, who reiterated his belief in the two dominant political parties, advised the Federal Government to deliver on their promise to Nigerians.
The governor lamented the spate of senseless killings in Nigeria and urged the APC-led Federal Government to focus on tackling insecurity and economic recession, instead of distracting Nigerians with the “so called looters’ lists”.
“This country needs two strong political parties. A united, not fragmented party in government and a cohesive and clear-headed opposition party.
“The constant demonisation of the PDP by the APC, for me, is childish and uncalled-for. I have the feeling that the APC, though in power, still behaves like a party in the opposition and on a campaign mode”, Dickson stated.
He continued: “I believe the APC has failed on its promise to Nigerians. They have failed to secure the country; the country is on a precipice. I think they should have done better than they are doing right now.
“The PDP made its mistakes but it achieved a lot for our democracy and our country. There is too much division in the country right now, and the Federal Government has to unify the country.
“They should look at the wanton killings in the country not only by Boko Haram but by the herdsmen and arrest the ugly situation”.

and APC? what do you have to say about APC? OGA tell me. what project has this govt started and executed? name one? you people keep talking about pdp. rusher14: The PDP did nothing for the nation.
Since a new opposition capable of toppling them came about PDP has gone on the violent offensive.
During the PDP era we had billionaires without factories. Why are they no longer thriving?
Why have the likes of Patience Jonathan not increased her portfolio since her husband left office.
After all, the banks are declaring record profits. Why can't the PDP merchants do the same? |

GBAM! edmandanladi55: You should be crying for the other state to release their budget not putting words where it is not called for. every thing is been stated there where the budget will be used. Accountability is what you should cry for and which is very clear there. |

this is really commendable. your transparency is Amiable.keep up the good work sir. BayelsaLegacy: Yenagoa – Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has signed into law the 2018 appropriation bill of N316.9 billion which comprises N156billion for capital expenditure and N160billion for recurrent expenditure.
Speaking after assenting to the appropriation bill during a ceremony at the Government House, Yenagoa, on Tuesday, Dickson said he presented a budget estimate of N295billion for the 2018 fiscal year, but the state House of Assembly jerked it up by N21billion.
The governor also signed three other bills into law. Namely, the School of Nursing Bill, Institute of Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Bill as well as Tourism Development and Hotel Licensing Bill.
He said he was optimistic that the budget passed by the Assembly would enable his administration consolidate on investments made in stimulating the state’s economy.
Dickson promised that his government would ensure the completion of projects in the health and educational sectors and boost investments in other critical infrastructure such as the Eco-Industrial Park and Agge Deep Sea Port.
He thanked the State Assembly for its commitment to duty and the expeditious passage of the bill which was presented before it in December 2017.
Dickson urged the Legislative arm to collaborate with the Executive arm in sourcing the much needed resources to fund the budget.
He also solicited the continued support and cooperation of the people of the state, especially in the implementation of the ongoing public service reforms, assuring them of more dividends of democracy.
He said, “The appropriation bill that I forwarded was about N295 billion, but the House of Assembly increased it to N316 billion.
“That is part of the checks and balances that they have exercised. And I know and trust that in their own case, they will also work with me to ensure that we have the resources to be able to fund this budget.
“That means cutting down as much as possible the running cost of government and we should all be more dedicated to building an efficient workforce.
“That means our public service should be up and doing, regulate itself and encourage the best out of it that can ensure the delivery of the good things that are earmarked for this year in this state.”
Earlier in his remarks, the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Konbowei Benson, who presented the bills to the governor, said the Assembly properly scrutinized the proposal forwarded to it for consideration, and passed it in the best interest of the state.
