tsmith:

Only in Africa will they come out with dumb assertions without adequate research. Abortion leads to breast cancer!!! How absurd?

Yes, some contraception increase your chances of cancer, but using contraception is not the same as abortion. Even here in the UK, you are made aware of the increased risk of cancer whilst using some contraception so the statement that drugs that have been banned in the western world are been shipped to Africa is void.

Might just as well miscarriages. stillbirths and infant death leads ro breast cancer too, because after all the breast tissues have formed in readiness for a baby that never suckled.

Such unvalidated research should not be on the front page as its misinforming, there too many ignorant and lazy to read people abound that take news hook, line and sinker.

Thank you. Seems like she's speaking from a moral high ground rather than actual documented research. So the developed countries that legalised medical abortion don't know what they're doing abi?

She said, “When you terminate a pregnancy you end many ongoing processes in the body such as the preparation of breast for the secretion of milk. So the tissues that were cut off suddenly would become fragile and they can trigger the formation of cancerous cells in the breast.

Mere speculation, no real proof.

Even though abortion is not legalised, pregnancies (high-risk or not) will still be terminated by young girls in school out of panic or fully grown women that can't handle having another child. Let doctors do their job and let whoever's conscience deal with them.

Family / Re: Closing Arguments On Friendzoning And "Nice Guys Finish Last" by AmINotHuman(m): 5:35am On Nov 24, 2014
Well, for all the "nice guys" out there, no one owes you a relationship. A woman is not obligated to date you because you managed to fulfil the basic requirement of being a "nice guy". The real question is, what else can you bring to the table? As shallow as this sounds, are you good-looking? Rich? Smart? Talented? Funny? Any thing more than just being a "nice guy"?

Being a a nice guy is nothing but the bare minimum. Saying "if I were your boyfriend, I won't treat you like that". It's not always about what you won't or don't do ("At least I'm not like the other guys", "At least I won't break her heart" ... and several other reasons while you're not a bad person).

What can you contribute to her life? Women invest too much into themselves (appearance-wise and so on) to meet a certain standard and you have to meet up with that standard, being a "nice guy" just isn't enough.

All in all, you can't force someone to fall for you. If a woman isn't romantically interested in you, there's no need to force it or pressure her or guilt trip her into dating you. It'll only make you her doormat.

MallamYahaya: @Justwise, please I need your opinion on this. I submitted my application on September 17, 2014 at TP VI. I got two emails same day, one informing me that it has been transferred to UKVI and another email stating that it has been received by UKVI.

Four days ago I sent an email to the UKVI requesting for the status of my application. I got a response two days later stating that my application has been processed and it's being delivered to the VAC. I infer that a decision has already been made.

What I don't understand is why TP hasn't sent me a decision has been made mail. They have also not updated their website.

My school has already started induction of PhD students. I'm worried as TP doesn't have a contact number or email address. They deliberately ensured that when you click on contact on their website it leads no where.

Please and please anyone making an appplication for visa for study purposes avoid TP VI. God to Abuja where you will experience minimum delay. Those who applied after me have received their visas.

Blackbeauty: well,I bought mine tonget feel of it.and so far,its just an oversized smartphone..to effectively use it,u need a back up phone.there are times am cooking and I just want to place my phone in my pockets to listen to music...I can't because I ditched my phone for a tab..even phones set..I just discovered we a re all victims of smart producers..for instance,u use an android running on jellybean,once a device that runs on KitKat comes in u start craving it when the basic needs of every smartphone user is just gaming,reading,picture taking,surfing the net and playing music.in the end,I just wasted my hard earned money.. well,I will get a regular phone maybe a lumia and keep the tab home to be used for reading novels(which I do perfectly on my laptop).Again,I have to recover my money by using it some way!

According to your post, you didn't buy it with any particular use in mind so why be surprised that it's useless to you?

Eyop: Apple mac books are truly overpriced i concur 100% to that.

In my opinion, with Apple macbooks, you definitely get what you pay for. I've had a macbook for nearly seven years now till I got the retina mac pro (the graphics are to die for shocked), and I never had a problem with it or took it to a repairer. Macs are just simple, easy to use, professional. Words can't describe the experience.

Culture / Re: Can Minorities Be Racist? by AmINotHuman(m): 5:09pm On Aug 29, 2014
Some people (mostly minorities who try to deny they're racist) say racism is prejudice + power, this sort of means that only the majority race can be racist. I, however, think that it's just moving the goal posts away from the original definition of racism so it doesn't apply to racist minorities themselves.

Religion / Re: Can I Make Heaven Without Going To Church? by AmINotHuman(m): 12:23am On Dec 25, 2013
Don't think so. Like someone said, if you think going to church will make you a Christian, then will standing in a garage make you a car?

You can only get into heaven by believing in Jesus Christ, even doing good won't cut it. All the thief (the one crucified next to Jesus) had to do to get into heaven was to acknowledge that Jesus was the son of God (no need for sinners' prayer, even).

I believe that the most important thing is to believe in God and that he sent his son to die for the world, all other things are secondary.

TV/Movies / Re: Why Are Nollywood Movies Always So Delusional? by AmINotHuman(m): 12:35pm On Dec 08, 2013
speedyboi: Hypocrisy!
Shallow thinking!
and more full this thread!

Of all things to criticize in the industry, this is what you think is important?

If you want to start criticizing delusional movies (leaving behind the fact that movies are not documentaries and not necessarily meant to be 'the real situation'), Hollywood movies and all other woods will come before Nollywood!

what will you say about;
A. -A single criminal defeating a battalion of well trained soldiers like say na ice-cream dem dey drink for army their whole life. Is that the situation in real life?
-In a movie like Olympus has fallen for instance; first part of the attack in white house, the Police or whoever were practically coming out of the building to be killed. I'm sure 'the grrreaat' american police force wouldn't be so dumb in real life, would they? undecided,
-Or in all action movies where lots of people could've taken the criminal at once, but they always prefer to go one by one... to be killed ofcourse - How realistic is that?

B. -And that sh/itty british movie titled slum dog millionaire where people in the slums can speak proper english. Is that the real situation in India?
-OR another unrealistic part: the real slum little boys they used in the beginning spoke Hindi; then the India little actors (who were obviously from middle/high class family in real life) they used when the boys grew up (like 11years kinda) suddenly started to speak proper English without attending school! How real is that anywhere in the world?
-OR the who wants to be a millionaire questions that were turning out as 'fate' BS. - please save me! And the cheap questions that were being asked sef: Infact, who wants to be a millionaire in Nigeria have asked the name of 3 musketeers as a first question before, but lo and behold, that was the ultimate question in the who wants to be a millionaire in our 'slumdog'. mtcheeeew...what A load of crap!

C. Or about anywhere apart from US, UK, Australia and likes being depicted as the worst place on earth in hollywood movies. No? Lemme tell you what a typical shallow minded person thinks about these countries due to 'HOLLYWOOD'
- Russia / Russians - Terrorist Nation
- Korea - Terrorist nation
- Africa - Jungle with people and animals whining and dining together (even though me wey they live here have never seen a wild animal in my life sef). Other times, Africa is a desert with no houses.
- And probably the first movie they will shoot in India, India is already being given the first impression of a slum! And another stereotype begins!
And incase you haven't noticed, almost every bad guy in American movies always have foreign accents!

C. And 'about accents of people who arrive from abroad' that people always complain about...the fact is their accents are as shitty as the ones foreign actors speak in movies about other countries (despite the 'language coach' they get). There's no movie where actors are expected to speak like another country that the people of the country didn't complain about the accents. Even british people complain about Charlize Theron's accent in the movie 'Snow White and Huntsman). That's just how it is; unless you've lived somewhere for a while, you can never have their accent! If na to say few words, then the language coaching might be effective.

Conclusion: Delusional stuffs is not limited to Nollywood! Infact, it is mean't to happen! Why? Because it is a movie! There are are better things to discuss improvement on. It's good to point out things like this, but you need to know, it's not a reason to bash any industry!

This is a very smart post and I agree whole-heartedly. I'm not a fan of Nollywood but Hollywood is way worse in terms of its 'delusion'. Permit me if this is slightly off-topic but at least we can say Nollywood 'lies' are harmless or even funny. But Hollywood loves to promote many false- even dangerous- ideas:

Africans are uneducated, starving savages;
The British are pompous, tea-loving and cruel;
Arabs are terrorists;
African-americans are criminals;
Russians are bitter against the US etc.

But almighty white Americans are perfect, awesome people who, in the time of danger, are the ones to save the world even though the average american is just some fat guy.

Besides, how often do you see a poor (white) American in a Hollywood movie?

Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Does God Allow Bad Things To Happen To "His People" by AmINotHuman(m): 9:37pm On Oct 25, 2013
Being Christian doesn't mean absolutely nothing bad will happen to you. Not at all.

God brings adversities our way so we can learn from them, grow or/and learn to trust Him.

I was born into a Christian family but I never really had relationship with God until I got severely depressed a few months ago: I wasn't doing very well in school and I had no friends or family to look to for support.

But He was there for me; I talked to Him everyday for he was my best and only friend, and I got over my depression. Now, I've met some amazing people, all my insecurities have vanished and I'm getting A's anyhow.

It might not seem like a lot to others but I know what He's done for me, and I thank Him for letting me do through difficulty so I could learn to depend on Him.

My point is, being a Christian doesn't mean you won't go through difficulties, but that you'll come out of them better than you were before; you'll go through the fire and come out without even the smell of smoke on your body.

God is amazing. He truly is.
