Travel / 9 Interesting Facts About Japan by amjf(m): 2:58pm On Aug 22, 2019
Japan, with a population of roughly 126.8 million as of 2017, is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean with high-rise-filled cities, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks and thousands of shrines and temples and home to some of the best technologies in the world.

Tokyo, the crowded capital, is known for its neon skyscrapers and pop culture. In contrast, Kyoto offers Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, gardens, and cherry blossoms. Sushi, the national dish, is served everywhere from casual pubs to gourmet restaurants.

Here are some interesting facts about Japan:

1. Japan has over 6,800 islands

You might know that Japan is an island nation, but did you know that there are more than 6800 islands in Japan? The four biggest islands are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, which together makes up about 97% of the total land area.

And don’t forget about the paradise islands of Okinawa with its beautiful beaches and tropical climate.

2. Japan has the most vending machines in the world

To every person, there are approximately 23 vending machines. You can buy ANYTHING in a vending machine including, cars, lettuce, underwear, hot ramen and even an egg. You will find them everywhere I swear! Vending machines are a huge part of Japanese culture and to me, that is extremely useful! You never have to talk to another person again, bliss for an introvert like me! lol

3. Japan has the third highest life expectancy in the world

Japanese have the highest life expectancy in the world due to their diet and lifestyle. They are very healthy people and exercise regularly. On average men will live until their 81 years old and women 87 years old. This is causing a crisis in Japan because there’s a lack of childbirth also. Now there are more seniors than children and this is causing a problem for the Japanese economy. Apparently, Japan sells more adult diapers than children’s – how fascinating and problematic at the same time!

4. Has one of the world’s lowest crime rates

Japan is one of the safest countries in the world, so if you worry about crime, you should probably look into moving here. The most common crimes here includes stealing a bicycle or umbrellas left outside the convenience store.

At the metro and trains, you can see locals who take a nap while having their phone in their hand or clearly visible.

It’s also not uncommon to see people walking around with their backpacks and bags open. Another thing, people don’t even lock their homes all the time or their bicycles! That’s how safe it is in Japan.

5. Best Animes

Animated Japanese films and television shows (i.e.: Anime) account for 60% of the world’s animation-based entertainment. So successful is animation in Japan, that there are almost 130 voice-acting schools in the country.

6. Don’t wear your shoes inside

Raised floors help indicate when to take off slippers or shoes. At the entrance to a home in Japan, the floor will usually be raised about 6 inches (15.24 cm) indicating you should take off your shoes and put on slippers. If the house has a tatami mat room, its floor may be raised 1-2 inches (2.54-5.08 cm.) indicating you should take off your slippers.

7. You’re allowed to take naps on the job

Japanese people are working more than any other country in the world and the working days are long. Since a couple of years back, some employers are letting their employees take a power nap at work, to recharge and get more energy. It’s pretty interesting, and overall I would say that power naps are very common in Japan, and you will constantly see people taking power naps on trains.

8. Fruit is the best gift you can give

If you don’t know what to get your host, then gift them fruit they really do appreciate it.

9. They take cleaning seriously

Cleaning is taught in school and is a serious part of Japanese culture. Students and children clean their own school! I have to say on my travels to Japan I thought it was one of the top 3 cleanest countries I have been to. There are even neighborhood (volunteer but mostly compulsory) clean-ups. People are always expected to keep their private houses and their workplace clean!

Bleep the before and after... Fact remains that it is a bleeped up school with bleeped up student union government body. They can't fight for their students.. school keeps increasing fees and giving stupid unnecessary charges and SUG keeps looking..... The Tablet they paid for is veryyyyyyy useless, no student can boasts about using it for a year or two without repairing it and they paid almost 40k for that shit. The present 200L students paid for theirs last year and they are yet to get it. If this students are giving that money they will buy better smartphones. Their website is been hacked anyhow, school security keeps riding those poor kids.... This kids are the type that will grow up and accept everything thrown at them, cos they don't know how to speak up. Government will force poo down their neck and they will accept. I pity them.

mrjojo:

Family / Re: The Big Challenges Of Being A Pastor's child by amjf(m): 9:29am On Dec 01, 2016
I dig bro. Whatever it is, abeg shey dey go church even if it's not your pops. You will find a bible believing church that suits you and give u a reason to be a Christian. cool

mrjojo:
Both pop and mom are pastors, and believe me is not easy been one.

I remember when me and my Lil Bro was always angry coz pop will always complain of our hair style, it either VERY low cut or nothing .i was trying Afro at a time cos it fits me more but it war at home.

We practically sleep in church, from one program to the other, no matter how sick or serious your next day exams are, you dare not stay back home during a vigil.

Mehn it not funny, I will never be a pastor, like ever
.FYI, am almost a full fledged atheist now, the last time I was in church was over a year ago when I was home, I go to church when am home cos i no want war.

Every one has their lifes to live, me and my siblings were FORCED to be christains ,now am serving, and am going to determine my life part MYSELF.

Oh, pop saw my pics on whats app recently and he was saving I should go clean out my beard(very little beard ), I laughed ,that ship has sailed mean.

Shout out to all Pastor kids out there .

I thought I was the only one makydebbie , our challenges give me huge concern sometimes, wanting to do stuffs and then u just kill it inside cos of what ppl may say (e.g you can't do some businesses or go into some careers). Gush even from my name ppl already expect a lot, which as made me not to tell new ppl I meet my full name. But we are just humans and we have our path too.

makydebbie:
Proverbs 22:6...Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

We all know this scripture and know that parenthood is no easy job. But everyone says, "what better environment is there to train up a child than in a pastor's home" right?
Or does growing up under a dad as a pastor guarantee a child's future on the right path?

Let's look at the challenges faced by pastor's kids which makes it not so rosy for kids growing up under clergymen's/religious leaders roof.

(1) Pastor's kids face the challenge of living up to the good boy/girl tag: As a pastor's child, I can relate to this. Eyes are always on you as a pastor's kid, to always never go wrong. No mistake is expected of you. In school, you're supposed to be different from all other kids and not to play much, joke around with friends or fail to submit assignments on time.

(2)Pressure:- Growing up, there was always this "pressure" that goes with you being the son or daughter of the renowned pastor in town. Even when faced with physical opposition like guys or girls who wanna beat 'us' up, people think that we should not fight but just meekly get beaten and mauled so badly. The bible says when hit we should turn the other cheek right?

(3)Pastors kids and the "be like your dad" comment or tag:-Everywhere you go as a pastor's kid, you always get the reminder that there's a standard you ought to live up to. And that standard in the eyes of people is always your dad or mom who are ministers. Every little thing you do, is a chance for them to say, "you're just like your dad" or if you make a little mistake, "you should be like your dad or mom". They always expect perfection.

In this age, we have come to know that everyone has a path and a destiny from everyone else including parents. Its really frustrating for a pastor's kid to always hear himself/herself being measured with his/her "pastor's" dad.
This is the reason why many of them rebel and go on to "live the life" they feel will make them different from their dads. In most cases, the kids end up destroying themselves.

(4) Pastor's kids and academics:- Always and again, there is always the notion that a pastor's kids shouldn't fail. People say stuffs like, "his father is the general overseer of the states biggest church". He heals the sick, raise the dead and makes the lame walk. If such a child is not shown the necessary support by his "pastor's" dad, or any given attention as regards helping him do well academically, then forget it. He won't fly academically. Not even dad's miracles will make it work.

(5) Pastor's kids and career choice:-As the son or daughter of a pastor, its almost like a taboo to find yourself in some professions. Which may be where one's talents lie. For example some pastors won't let their kids study law, citing some mundane remark like "lawyers are mostly liars".
And most pastors kick against their children going into the music industry. Restricting the child is robbing the world of another gem that would impart the world positively.

(6)Pastor's children and overall parenting:- It is no longer a secret that pastor's homes churn out "clinically depressed kids" because of bad parenting or "parenting negligence". This is so because, a lot of pastors dedicate so much time to their pastorial ministry forgetting that a trully functional church, begins from a truly happy and functional home.
These kids grow up to be so far apart in relationship from their pastors parent. And even end up hating them.

These are some of the many heart wrenching challenges faced by pastor's kids. On the whole, its not a bed of roses being a pastor's kid.

soe:
lol...echo alpha ...yet you say you are an aviation student...

dude, EA here means Emmanuel Aviation. kindly visit www.emmanuelaviation.com nd confirm the logo.

Echo and Alpha are simply words used in spelling stuffs anywhere in the UK and US, just as we have A for Apple, B for Ball, they use, A for Alpha, E for Echo, and this is used when you try to spell your name or whatever on the phone to a customer care

LMAO. Google aviation alphabets. just take correction bro. Emmanuel Aviation cld be the airline name but not d reg number. the military also has their alphabet.
Religion / Re: Adeboye Inscribes Redeem Logo On New $65m Private Jet!!! by amjf(m): 11:49am On Sep 16, 2015
POINT OF CORRECTION THE "EA" STANDS FOR ECHO ALPHA. NOT HIS NAMES. IT IS AN AVIATION TERM. AM A TRASPORT MANAGEMENT STUDENT, AVIATION MAJOR. THE N STANDS FOR NOVEMBER ALSO AN AVIATION TERM NOT D MONTH OF PURCHASE OR ANYTHING.
