Thanks a lot for your help. Can I please email you? Goldentony2nice: You have 3 options. 1/ To travel with your husband now. 2/ for him to join you at a later date. 3/ for him to remain in Nigeria all through.
If you will be traveling with him now or later, he has to spend time with you and truly assist you settle and focus on your studies. In doing this, he would not be staying idle; he will get a job and the job will generate income which is a plus to support your finances. The job he will quit in Nigeria is the “opportunity cost” just to be with you; he has to forgo it. You have to give a compelling explanation. Don’t put too much relevance on his present job, rather show optimism and excitement about how having him would make your stay and study better. Also talk about what you guys plan to do when you return home after your experiences and studies.
If I can remember from your posts, you guys run a business as well which can be used as home tie.
The purpose of the visa he should be applying for is for him to be with spouse(you) and work anywhere in Canada. That’s why it’s called Spouse Open Work Permit. The visa officer will not accept Visit Visa for a spouse in this instance.
You have to make up your mind on which of the above mentioned options you want.
Cheers!

Thanks for your response. I’ve some concerns. He has a paid job here. Stating he’ll be working in Canada means he’ll be quitting his job here. Is that not a red flag? Goldentony2nice: I suggest you avoid stating that your husband will be back in the country.
The visa to apply for him is SOWP. It’s practically for him to get a job and work in Canada. Therefore it is better to talk about his Eligibility and that in addition to helping you and the kids settle, he will be working through out the period of your study permit duration.
It’s an advantage if your husband is the sponsor. Just show enough home ties and the necessary funding. Also show proof of relationship, proof of your schooling, tuition payment etc, proof of parentage of your kids. Have good documents checklist. I am positive you will get approved! How old are your Kids? You determine their own Visas by their ages.

Good day everyone,
I’m currently drafting my sop for sp for me and Sowp for my spouse and vv for my kids. I’m stating that my I want my hubby to accompany me to assist me to settle down with the kids and that he’ll be back to the country. And he’ll be visiting from time to time while I’m there. Do I apply for sowp or vv with this explanation?
Please help. I’m kinda confused.
Thank you for your help. |

Thank you for responding. We have a business we both run. What if we show we can make money from the business. The business can be done remotely. Bamz555:
1. Ur Hubby’s abandoned study permit does not affect ur application or a fresh application. Each application is independent of its own. Except where d previous app is with prejudice to a crime or fraud. 2. If it’s self sponsor make sure u have all the money u will need for the tuition and living expenses for the family. If u only provide one year expenses, how do u explain how u intend to get the subsequent expenses? |

Hi @Canadaqueen Thank you so much for your response. CanadaQueen: Hi Ammykorr, I'll try to answer you according to my lil knowledge. Firstly, I don't think your Hubby's last visa would have an impact on your application. In fact, if stated in your SOP( that your hubby cldn't leave because he didn't wanna leave you guys behind),that reason MIGHT even help to facilitate your visas. According to IRCC each application is treated independently/individually.
Secondly, IF you can provide the 2 yrs POF for the required fees for each of you all well and good but if not 1 year is still OK. I stand to be corrected. Pls let other gurus make an input.

Ammykorr: Hi everyone. Please I’d like the help of the gurus on the platform. I’ve got some issues on my mind.
Firstly, my hubby applied for study visa about 2years ago. He got the visa, but he didn’t go because he said he didn’t have the heart to leave his family behind. Now I want to apply for study visa and apply with my family. I don’t know if it will be an issue.
Secondly, I am going for a years course, do I need to show pof for the 2 years tuition plus cost of living for 2 years.
I really need help with your inputs/suggestions.
Thank you. @bullstriker @canadaqueen All the gurus. Please help. |

Hi. Congratulations. I’d like to ask what you mean by guaranteed savings please. Thank you. Lawode: Good evening guys, Glory to God!!!!!! our testimony came in early! Family of four. Student permit for wife and SOWP for me. We did all by ourselves and with the help of God, and the hope and inspiration given by the application details provided by @Oloking and @Dayo96 ( Dear Brother, the saving project worked). @Tolulope1 thanks for being so warm and helpful. We submitted the usual documents so there is nothing to list in that regard except the few unique ones like: a) a letter confirming my remote work arrangement, as opposed to letter for leave of absence ( I can't leave my job ). b) Documents confirming annual emolument of sponsor ( I am sponsoring my wife) , c) Applicant's and Sponsor's Employment documents d) One year pay slip of sponsor e) One year statement of account ( Naira and Dorm) f) International training certificates g) Letter of Sponsorship (detailing my income and how the funds available were made, the huge transfers into my wife's account from Bonuses earned last year, and the corresponding payslips) h) Wife's SOP ( 22 pages or so, detailing every aspect of the application. Why she wants to study PGD after Masters, why she is traveling with family, etc, she was very sincere in that write up) i) Letter of Intent from me ( stating my true intentions, the need to be with my family, the situation surrounding my job and why I had to go to Canada with my job) j) Bill and receipts for children had in the US (k) Explanation of the intent to sell the dollars in my Dorm at the parallel rate. l) Commitment to fall back on my RSA should I lose my job or sell two of my vehicles m) Hometies - Job, work benefits ( I have a lot to lose in benefits if I don't come back, and this is the absolute, verifiable truth), personal relationship with employer, established profession etc) n) Travel history ( UK, US, UAE - existing US visa o) Plans to convert 25% of RSA towards mortgage under the new policy in that regard. p) I had to state a commitment towards monthly savings to shore up my proof of fund for living expenses in the second year. We have funds for the first year. q) We paid the first year tuition.
These are things that easily come to mind.
My observations and advice:
1. Tell your story truthfully and back it up with as much evidence as you can get, it is easier selling the truth. 2. Explain every deposit 3. Have your sponsor transfer substantial but explainable funds into your account ( all funds were transferred into my wife's account) 4. Please make a joint application if you have the funds, don't state your spouse is your home tie when you know you will want them to join you later ( say the truth) 5. Use the MBS 6. Travel history helps with quicker record verification ( it is not a major factor, but it helps buttress the fact that you are not trying to Japa) 7. Provide details of your registered business if you have one, otherwise show other means of social establishment in Nigeria 8. Do not do half measure, go all out to prove the facts that you state, again this boils down to if you are saying the truth. 9. Give a detail description of your study plan. Prepare your SOP like a tough interview question and answer session. Address all the issues sincerely ( your truth is your truth, don't try to play smart. e.g. my siblings are abroad and I didn't hide that, just stated that I have always returned to Nigeria in spite of that) 10. Show a reasonable career progression. Don''t jump from Customer Service to Nursing or Health Care Assistance without a solid explanation. 11. Research and do it yourself if you can, otherwise, provide all the information , including the SOP and make sure you can see yourself and not a stranger in the story being presented on your behalf. It is easy for one to forget a lie but the truth never fades. 12. Huge funds without detailed explanation of the source will work against you 13. Don't be afraid to transfer lump sum so far there is a good, plausible explanation. 14. This is a good time to apply, do it now, the time line might get worse again - I was going to continue to save until I have at least 20million, in addition to the fees for the second year tuition for my wife, but @Dayo96 and @Olokings story on guaranteed savings encouraged me. ( I still intend to continue to save until the money is complete, but we already of the visa, so it is good to just get on with it and hope that the truth will make you free. 15. This is one situation where the strength of man cannot promise success, there is the huge element of the grace of God. Please acquaint yourself with God, let this mission bring you close to Him and the knowledge of His will. Be sure God wants you to do this and live your life in the fear of God. Application submitted - February 1 Biometrics done - February 8 Upfront Medicals passed - February 14 Eligibility Started - February 19 BVL & PPR - February 21.
I give glory to God, this is the Lord's doing and it is marvellous in our eyes. My wife is super pumped for her post graduates and the family time we will have in Canada. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello everyone,
I need advise. I just want to start my visa application. I would like to apply for study permit with my family. Would you advise I apply for sowp or Visiting visa for my spouse considering the fact that he is in paid employment and the company will not give him leave of absence longer than 1 month. If I apply for SOWP, what will I use as home tie for him.
If I apply for VV for him, can I still use him as home tie.
Thank you. |
