Talk to honorableseyi

He is more experienced with your matter. I am so new to the German system.

Can you reiterate the questions asked in your interview & how you answered. It might give us clues to the cause of the denial.

In the house

Schoener Tag,

It has been a while. It feels good to be writing here once again. Most especially from the other side (I mean in Germany). So far, Life in Germany has been great. The system is cool and functional and everything works here. It is a buoyant economy and those who have learnt a little German would find it even more lovely.

The people are easier on you and are very willing to lend several hands once you start with the word, ''Entschuldigung''. Please learn some German at least to B1 level and also familiarize yourself with German materials, musik, documents, movies and all. This doesnt imply that non german speakers find it difficult here. I am only saying you would be more advantaged once you know some Deutsch.

There are also many things you would be happy about here. First, Uninterrupted power supply, functional transport system, and availablity of student jobs that would make life wonderful for you. You just need to learn to manage working and studying and you are good to go.

No regrets man. Feeling really good with the hope of reforming my country but not at the expense of my own life.

It was worth the struggle.

Mach Spass!
wink

Congrats bro.
I tap into your blessing jare! Winter 2017 wont pass me by.
What state are you in?

i used d sponsorship letter which my sponsor got frm d aliens office nd d embassy accepted it......also couple wit d fact dat my sponsor is a german citizen nd all dat, he helped to convince d embassy more nd dat he wud give dem any info or proof dey want....my sponsor actually did all d conviction nd writing to d embassy on my behalf while i send any necessary doc through my email

Oh OK, this part is quite straightforward. I am referring to the residence permit you got in Germany.

Did the sponsorship letter suffice as well?

1. No...i jxt provided a proof that i applied for studienkolleg nd was rejected bcuz of language proficiency
2. Nope...jxt my o-level(waec) result
Note: my sponsor is a german citizen already xo it also helped.

Bro please could you shed more light on this sponsor ish & how they give residence permit if you didn't open a blocked account.

I am asking because my sponsor is German too & I don't know the criteria the foreigners office will use to give temporary residence.

I know that those who opened a blocked account used a bank account statement.

Or did the consulate require you to open a blocked account as well?

Don't conclude base on "Somones experience". I came to Germany on a language study visa and I converted it here to a student visa.
The Fact is, if you are coming to Germany on a Language Visa, you should have atleast B1, it is as simple as that, Most universities have preparatory classes for DSH but you require at least B1 to get into this class.

Thanks for clarifying. I guess its pretty obvious I didn't sound infallible... I clearly stated "from my research"

BTW, the context in which we are discussing this issue is going to Germany to start a1.

pls stop discouraging people.....i am a testimony to the fact that the enbassy gives visa 4 language course.
i jxt got my stamped visa on 22/12/2016 and according 2 my aliens iffice, it can be extended to study visa once i present a proof of ability to study after my language course.......Though God waz involved

Congrats. We are aware that such is possible; however the chances are slim....just like you acknowledged "God was involved".

Bros, I dey try read this this thread for my brother who desires to study in Germany but I am so confused...lol

From the little I gathered here, it seems engineering courses are taught in German? Anyways how does one get admission for an English taught course? My bro has a first class in mech engineering and desires to study something on Automation.

I tried accessing the Daad website but got more confused when I came back to the thread to read about sponsorship, blocka ccount, student applicant visa, English courses e.t.c
I am trying to put everything together.

That's cool. Congrats to your bros. You should not be doing this alone, both of you should do it so he can learn when he will want to do his PhD.

Someone just said there are English masters on daad. I will check when I get to base.

But how am i supposed to learn up to C2 when the embassy won't allow me to go and do a language course in germany?

I believe that when you learn up to goethe's limit, the embassy will look at you favorably.

That is not the only way someone can get visa with conditional admission. Though it takes the grace of God to pull through, but I have seen people rejected at the embassy with that type of admisson; but someone scale through this winter semester with a conditional admission letter from the school stating that she will first learn German for the first 6-8 months before the commencement of the of the program fully. She applied with O'level certificates.Though difficult with only few schools doing such and the need to convince embassy and allien office beyond the reasonable doubt during interview and also in the visa statement of purpose. It is doable with the grace of God. Shalom

Sure! Its definitely possible; but the chances are very slim.

Are you sure about the conditional admission because the school I'm considering in germany said that they can give me conditional admission if i have up to B1(but I'll still learn up to B2 to play safe) and they'll teach me the remaining levels and prepare me for the DSH exam and thats because the geothe in Nigeria teach up to B2 and the requirements for most universities is C2 or TestDaf 4x4(which you can write with B2 but would be really difficult)

Like I said, I found this out through research.

My take-away from it was that you get a student visa for a valid admission; & a student applicant visa for a conditional one.

Someone on this thread had a problem similar to yours. His studienkollen indicated in his admission letter that he will write an exam in Germany before being admitted fully

The German consulate refused to accept that as an admission letter.

I didn't follow up so I don't know how he went about it.

I am throwing this open to more experienced guys here to shed more light on this situation.

BTW, don't apply to just one uni...spread your tentacles & hope for the best.

You may visit daad.de, study-in.de and good ol Google.

the course is taught both in english and german(2yrs in english and 1/2 years in german) . though the school want me to have b1 knowledge of german so i can continue with my course thats why they want to give me conditional admission...btw where you presently?

I am in Lagos ATM.

Well, seems you are applying to a higher semester?

What course is this?

From the little I know, conditional admission will get you a student applicant visa which can only be converted to a student visa in Nigeria.

This implies that in the unlikely event that you get the student applicant visa & finish the language course in Germany, & eventually secure the admission; you will have to return to Nigeria to get a student visa.

So, I guess you can make an informed decision now.

BTW, you should look at other universities or for a fully English course.

well thanks.but i will give it a try smiley

Bro, I will be straight up frank with you. I wouldn't want you to start having rejections with the German embassy.

It definitely has a high rejection rate for us.

Here is another option. Go for an English taught course. When you get there, you can transfer to the course of choice.

This is way safer gambling with your chances.

hello all...please i would like to know if one has a chance of getting visa from the embassy with conditional admission or language course and how possible it is too. thanks smiley

If you have have been following this thread, you'd realize this has been discussed.

The chances are very slim especially for Nigerians. For language courses, you will be referred to Goethe.

If the conditional admission is dependent on say passing the German language exam, I will strongly recommended getting proficient & writing the exam here in Nigeria(Goethe Institute).

Hello guys, just a moment of your time about sponsorship letter please.. will a sponsorship letter from anyone in Europe works for the students visa or is it compulsory it must come from a resident in Germany? Thanks in anticipation for your reply.

To second what the poster above me said. The sponsor must be based in Germany & have a reasonable source of income.

Hello

Please am new here and I have a question to ask.

How and where can I get a travel insurance that i will submit to the German consulate. And what is the cost like?

Just Google IGI travel insurance; it is very affordable.

Edit: I got more details....

IGI. 741, Adeola Hopewell, Victoria Island, Lagos.
#18,500

That's one of the cheapest around.

Disclaimer: I'm not an agent of IGI or any other insurance coy. Just doing my bit to help a brother with a potential headway. Thanks.

Cheers!

There is no difference between the 100 LVL option and the studienkolleg in terms of Visa or application or anything. The only two advantages with the studienkolleg is that it helps you learn german in an academic environment and it also helps you to adapt to the german system of education which is quite different from the laid-back cookie cutter shit in Nigeria.

In my opinion studienkolleg is for you,If your language level is below C1 and your university in germany doesn't have the language programme e.g the bridge to studies programme BTU cottbus offers,in which you are taught the language for a full academic year before proceeding with your desired course .

It's not really compulsory that you follow the studienkolleg route because i heard that it can be quite challenging(based on other people's experiences anyway i haven't been there) and getting admission into one them is another difficult task on it's own.Anyway if you feel that you can cope with all these then go ahead but if not just get your 100lvl certificate and C1 from geothe and you'll be okay.

If you have further partaining studies in germany always feel free to contact the international department of the university you are considering.

The thing is my 100 level was in 2008...that's a long time & might affect my admission chances.

Also my proficiency is at a1 but I don't want to miss the next academic year. Going by Goethe timetable, attaining c1 will be in 2018.

So I guess studienkollege is my best bet for now.
