The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned that patronising unregistered international money transfer operators {IMTOs) in Nigeria is detrimental to the growth of the nation’s economy.

The apex bank also warned that some of the unregistered posed threat to the funds of those who utilise their services.

“Members of the public are advised to beware of the activities of such unregistered IMTOs for the greater economic good of Nigeria, said Isaac Okafor, acting director of communications in a statement.

The renewed attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta region by militant groups, have caused most oil producers, especially the indigenous operators to have zero oil production and zero revenue in the process, The Nation reports.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, Mr. Austin Avuru who spoke yesterday in Lagos at the annual conference of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, said operators are no longer bothered by the drop in crude oil prices because there is nothing to produce and export for sale. He added that about 70 per cent of the nation’s oil production from the traditional terrain of onshore and shallow water had been locked in.

Education / POST JAMB: UNILAG Set To Screen Candidates by angeljc1: 5:36pm On Aug 01, 2016
The University of Lagos on Monday says it will go ahead with its screening of prospective candidates for admission into the 2016/2017 academic session as scheduled.

The institution’s Deputy Registrar, (Information), Mr Toyin Adebule, said this in an interview with the news men in Lagos.

Adebule gave the university’s position against the backdrop of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) withdrawing the list of recommended candidates for admission, earlier sent to the various universities.

JAMB in the statement signed by its Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, stated that the withdrawal was to ensure that the senate of each of the universities performs its statutory functions.

Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu cannot renounce his group’s demand for an independent state of Biafra, Movement for the Actualisation of the Soverign State of Biafra (MASSOB) said yesterday.

A progress report on the dialogue between the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and agents of the Federal Government, at the weekend, said an arrangement was being worked out for Kanu’s release from prison custody by the Federal Government if he renounced his Baifra agitation.

Last month, President Muhammadu Buhari said the government through some oil companies and traditional rulers had been talking to the militants to end their agitation and bombing of oil facilities in the Niger Delta.

Rangers are now top of the table with 48 points from 28 matches, a point ahead of Wikki Tourists, who lost their leadership after they lost 3-0 at Akwa United, also on Sunday.

Striker Stephen Chukwude gave Enyimba the lead in the 45th minute when he fired home a low, left-footed shot beyond goalkeeper Itodo Akor off an assist by Joseph Osadiaye.

However, moments later Rangers restored parity through Godwin Aguda with a cut-back from Bobby Clement.

In other matches, Lobi hammered Warri Wolves 3-0, Plateau upstaged hosts MFM 1-0 and Niger Tornadoes stopped Abia Warriors 2-1.
IfeanyiUbah extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches after they defeated Kano Pillars 2-1, while the match between Rivers United and Ikorodu United was shifted after the Port Harcourt club were involved in a road accident.
