Dear Comrades, As the struggle to save Ambrose Alli University is being pursued,I’ll like to salute all members of the SUG and HOP for their resoluteness in ensuring that the constitutions of the school is implemented in accordance with the Road map defined by the school Senate. We believe very strongly that the rot and decay in the University System is not only arrest able but also reversible. We believe even more strongly that, the key to turning round the University System lies in the sincere implementation of the Agreement. What The Nigeria Police Ekpoma Division has so far been doing is no more than a repeat performance of a one-act-play: all the deceptions, propaganda, illegal assaulting of student from these great institution , mischief ,Shenanigans ,but your resolve to save the University System and our Country remained unwavering. As the mouthpiece of the student(SUG)we plead to you to take drastical step toward the assaulting of AAU student by the Nigeria Police Ekpoma Division. We are no longer free in our own environment,we are been harassed and searched illegally,we can no longer use the ATM willingly, our phones and documents are no longer our privacy,we are now on a watch,We are known as fraudsters Please come to our aid(crying). Please come to our aid because they say the police is our friend but now the reverse is becoming the case. We plead to the Student Union Government to call a meeting with the Edo state commissioner of Police,D.P.O Ekpoma division and sign a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) so we can be free again and prepare to be the Leaders of Tomorrow I urge all our members to maintain the spirit of camaraderie and remain firmly resolute in ensuring that our patriotic struggle succeeds. United we Bargain, Divided we Beg! ALUTA CONTINUA,VICTORY IS SURE Source aauxclusive.com/open-letter-to-the-sugwe-are-been-assaulted-by-the-police-aau-students-cry-out/ |

Yellow fever virus is transmitted by Aedes aegypti – the same mosquito that spreads the Zika virus. Symptoms include fever, muscle pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. At least half of untreated patients with severe cases of yellow fever die within 10-14 days. The good news is that, unlike Zika or Ebola, yellow fever can be controlled with an effective vaccine, which confers lifelong immunity within a month of administration. And, indeed, vaccination forms the core of Angola’s National Response Plan, initiated early this year with the goal of administering the yellow fever vaccine to more than 6.4 million people in Luanda Province. So far, nearly 90% of that target population has been vaccinated, thanks largely to the World Health Organization, the International Coordinating Group for Vaccine Provision, and other countries, including South Sudan and Brazil, which together made some 7.35 million doses of the vaccine available. The mass vaccination effort has stemmed the spread of yellow fever. But to end the outbreak, vaccination has to continue not only in Luanda, where an additional 1.5 million are at risk of infection, but also encompass other affected provinces. This will be a major challenge. One key problem is cost. In 2013, the yellow fever vaccine cost $0.82 per dose in Africa – a price that most developing countries cannot afford. A 2015 report by Médecins Sans Frontières showed that the vaccine is now almost 70 times more expensive than it was in 2001. Making matters worse, even if countries have the money, there are serious supply constraints. Senegal’s Pasteur Institute of Dakar, one of only four facilities in the world producing yellow fever vaccines, manufactures about ten million doses per year, and the manufacturing process is extremely difficult to scale up. Moreover, the Pasteur Institute is about to close down for a five- month renovation, during which it will be unable to produce more vaccine. Fortunately, the situation is set to improve. The Pasteur Institute is constructing a new facility about 30 kilometers from Dakar, in Diamniadio, that is expected to triple production by 2019. Another yellow fever vaccine manufacturer, Sanofi Pasteur in France, is also expanding its manufacturing capacity. (The other two manufacturers are based in Brazil and Russia.) For now, however, supplies are tight. One way to stretch existing stores could be by administering a fractional dose (one-fifth of the usual dose), which has also been shown to protect against yellow fever. But even that may not be enough if the virus spreads further. And, unfortunately, the high density of Aedes aegyptii mosquitoes in the affected areas means that the risk of transmission remains high. An outbreak in a region like Asia, which lacks experience with a yellow fever epidemic and has no capacity to manufacture the vaccine, would be particularly difficult to control. According to John P. Woodall, the founder of the disease-alert service ProMED, if yellow fever spreads to parts of Asia with the right climate and mosquito species, hundreds of thousands could be infected (and possibly die) before vaccine stocks are delivered. The virus also has the potential to spread to the Americas, which are home to Aedes mosquito vectors that transmit not only yellow fever, but also dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. Already, the Pan American Health Organization has declared an epidemiological alert for yellow fever in Latin America. AAU students-The protest and the way forward. No sooner had the sun risen than some of the students of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, gathered at the school gate to embark on a "peaceful rally" as tagged by most of the protesting students. We later learned that the rally was more of an uproar against the VC-elect. Our aauxclusive.com correspondent on getting to the scene met some armed policemen and about four "hilux" vans which we assume was meant to assist in maintaining peace while the rally lasted. Students were seen carrying placards while others were seen going for their classes. Speaking with our correspondence, a 300 level English student who pleaded anonymous had this to say when asked what was going on: "......we don't want to call it a protest yet till further actions and conditions are not met;for now it's just a peaceful rally." Further efforts by our correspondence to garner more information as regards the protest, proved abortive. Luckily, our correspondence was able to get further insight on the issue as one Miss Anita Erabor in her words said that: "....It is only expected that the principal officers of Ambrose Alli University, be indigenes of the local government since the school is situated in this locality. We went further to say that the students are not ready to condone any form of "nepotistic injustice" as this would be tantamount to compromising the rights of the indigenous staffs of the school." Meanwhile, we tried reaching the SUG to know their stand as per the rally. They were not aware of it and even doubted it until some photos were sent. The union president, Khalifa Oshiomhole urged all students to remain calm and wait till the state government approve the Vice chancellor elect. He also admonished students to continue to maintain the peace that the school has been enjoying and will continue to enjoy as the school authority has the best interest of students at heart. It was later garnered that the peaceful rally was organised by Esan Youth movement on behalf of esan staffs and students of the school. All efforts to speak with the rally spokesman proved abortive. #compiled by Thompson Jotham for AAUXCLUSIVE 1 Share

I lost some good friends along life WAY. Some loved ones departed to heaven to STAY. I lost faith in people who says they CARE, when In time of my crisis they were never THERE. I let some blessings slip AWAY, at one time I even lost my focus and went ASTRAY. I lost some possession that was so DEEP that I couldn't help but WEEP. I lost the battle by walking in FEAR couldn't help but notice the TEAR... I have witnessed different times and seasons, Heat and COLD I have watched how time UNFOLDS I have seen how the young slowly becomes OLD... Fears and pressures, Dreams and GOALS. Every stage comes with its OWN Failures and success has its ROLES The ones I feed so well is the one that GROWS I have seen so many BATTLES... WOES Fights and play... HOPES In the midst of my STRUGGLE, with no one to CUDDLE and in the time of my PAIN when there was no RAIN I NEVER LOST MY TRUST IN GOD NOW, I'm a WORLD CHANGER, a RAIN MAKER and I'm fulfilling purpose. I almost Let GO but HIS mercies kept me...
