I'm in Bangkok at the moment. To be honest, you won't have a hard time finding places to eat as their dishes are generally delicious and they have mannnnny restaurants everywhere you go. They also have many street foods. I'd suggest you try those too. If I come by any particularly awesome restaurant, I'll come back to share it with you. |

Bisjosh: Its not a "Nigerian women" matter. Abused women of any nationality do that; they pity the attacker. Its hard for me to wrap my mind around that, but it seems to be the way it works. |

rhymz:Rhymz, really, there is no need to get angry. Truth is, we're all ignorant of one thing or another, are we not? You may claim that I'm ignorant in this case, but that'd only mean that you BELIEVE that am ignorant of the point you're trying to make. May I remind you then, that that would also mean that you're ignorant of MY point? That may be something to consider. Okay, moving on, To clarify, I am not homosexual. Believe it or not, one does not have to be a homosexual to realize that can love too. Now you dont have to believe me. If believing that am a homosexual makes you feel better, then do be my guest. Being a homosexual is not a plague, and neither is calling me one an insult. It certainly beats being a hypocrite. YES its due to their habit. PLEASE do re-read my post if you need to. Here is a recap of my opinion as to why they have higher HIVAIDS rate in homosexual communities: because they lack the support and (anti HIVAIDS-related) healthcare services that heterosexuals have. You dont have to agree with this, but that does not change the truth. This topic is one that I feel strongly about, and have done my research on. Allow me to share my findings with you; You cant always tell a person's sexual orientation by their mannerisms. Neither can you always tell by their sense of style. Truth is, there is no true way to tell, as you agreed to. There arent enough studies on homosexuality to assist us to that understanding. How are they prevented? This is a good question. I myself, wouldnt have questioned that myself. But I attended a conference recently where I learned from this presentation that when folks go to the hospital for healthcare services and are have health history interviews, no one ever asks (a male patient, for example):" how is your partner", "how often does he use a condoms?". The dominant belief is that there is no need to address this, because the assumption is that every patient is straight, see. Hence why homosexuals fly under the radar, and are often missed. Research shows that homosexuals are afraid of accessing healthcare services (even the ones who DO test positive) due to popular beliefs that they are responsible for the HIVAIDS pandemic in the first place. The story of "patient zero" certainly doesnt help their population as it has given people the reason to stigmatize homosexuals as being HIVAIDS infested. Studies show that people with HIVAIDS are often stigmatized even by healthcare professionals (with whom everyone would supposedly be able to find some solace and acceptance, right? wrong!). Imagine a ("flaming" ![]() Another factor to note is that the greatest determinant to one's health, is poverty. In a country like Nigeria where homophobia is the law, you're likely to see alot of "out" homosexuals disowned or ostracized. How then are these folks supposed to access health when they're without their social support? Who CARES about health when belle no full? Am sure Maslow's would agree; health isnt a priority when you dont even know where your meals go come from. But hey, sex is! ![]() But hey, enough of my blabbing. Do consider this however; the countries with the highest rate of homophobic people, also have the highest rate of HIVAIDS. Coincidence? I think not! Jamaica (where homophobia is said to be the culture,) has the highest rate of HIVAIDS in the Americas. sub-Saharan African countries are similar in that sense. Botswana's HIVAIDS rate for example, is as high as 38% of the population with an average life expectancy of 22 years old. Long live love, Rhymz. You say that "you gays" (lmao I am glad that you're finally telling me what my sexual orientation is. Thanks for helping with the discovery) need to stop publicizing "our" (i might as well admit to it, as you seem to be so sure) homosexuality because we're corrupting kids. Have you ever wondered what the constant watching of heterosexual shows on TV does to a homosexual child? Or wait o, do you think that homosexuality is something new? Mr/Mrs/Ms Rhymz, need I introduce you to the Sambian tribe in Papua New Guinea? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2tcLZ2N02o <---- click here to learn more about the Sambi tribe. Do you think that these people watched homosexuality on TV to learn it? Oh wait, what about the countless homosexuals who have lived long before the times of technology, who practiced homosexuality secretly? Do you think that they were taught it? They had NO ONE to watch practice homosexuality on TV, YET, they were homosexuals. So, how did that happen? Do you think that the 2-spirited people of Aboriginal cultures who are well respected people in their communities who cross dress and practice homosexual acts were taught how to be 2-spirited? Are hijras and kothis (homosexual cross dressers in the Indian culture whose culture has been preserved for thousandsssss of years) influenced by TVs? Ha! I am not here to change your mind. That is not my goal. However, if I had not voiced my opinion, I would have been an enabling bystander, and that, I didnt want to be. |

rhymz:Let me assist you to a better understanding. The reason why homosexuals are at increased risk for STDs (HIVAIDS especially) isnt because they're more promiscuous. Heterosexuals are JUST as promiscuous. Denial doenst get us anywhere so please, lets drop it for a second. The reason they're at increased risk is because of the stigma that they often experience. They're subjected to the shame of having to hide their love for one another. It is different for them. AND the reason why heterosexuals have less HIVAIDS rate is because they have the benefit of preventative health-care services (anti-HIVAIDS) that are provided to them. Homosexuals often (especially in African countries) lack that benefit. There is NO place for them to go to get taught about how to protect themselves. There is no place to go to gain support. Do you understand that? They're a neglected group. What we fail to realize is that until we agree to accomodate their needs, HIVAIDS will CONTINUE to rise. They're alot of bisexual men and women, or gay/lesbian men and women who have sex with people of the opposite sex in the name of conforming to their societal expectations. These people often fail to use protection. Heterosexuals are NOT and will NOT be safe, till they decide to accept AND accommodate homosexuals' needs. nuffsaid And please, allow me to correct you: homosexuality and pedophilia are NOT related in ANY way. Hence why we often see heterosexuals who molest OPPOSITE sex children, and pedophiles who would tell you that really, they're NOT attracted to men or women who are in thesame age group as they are. Good luck with getting to a new understanding on this. |

If for nothing else, folks should be proud of them for standing up for what they believe in. There was a time in history when Black folks were believed to be sub-human and demonic. There was a time when we were worth nothing more than dogs. History is full of (human) errors in judgements. Eventually, we'll get to realize that judgement really isnt up to us. God is VERY capable of stricking the sinners dead if God deems it necessary. I say till then, let these folks live as they please. Until a homosexual comes up to me and tries to sexually harrass me (against my will o), I have nothing against them. When I love, no one stands in my way. I cant imagine how I'd feel if anyone tried. Chances are, it wouldnt stop me from loving. Knowing me, I would protest too. Why Nigeria stands against this and not against pressing issues such as poverty, terrorism, 419ing, and a host of other MUCH MORE pressing issues is beyond me. Oh wAIt! Of course, it isnt hard to understand, this law isnt passed for any other reason but for distraction. While we're here arguing and posting on this, some so called government officials are pocketing bills in their accounts, and robbing us blind, and we're busy with such news as homophobic laws. |

Better now than tomorrow. Better tomorrow than after marriage. If you were to continue with the relationship and marry her, then you'd be commuting the same crime you'd committed all along. Face the drums now, and stand your ground. There is no reason why you should waste one more second of her time. |
