190 @:Dont fault your sisters for doing what is right. STONES help scrub away the dead skins from feet. EVERYONE regardless of where you live, gets these dead skins. It is absolutely normal, to all races. (Yes, lift your feet up, there it is, disgusting, right? but hey, its never too late to start). I can only hope that you have a pumice stone or something similar to scrub your feet with, since EVERYONE (Naija or no Naija) has dead skin or calluses at their heels and other parts of their feet. Natural stones work best, but if you dont have that, you can always use the artificial ones (my experience though, is that they suck. Get yourself a nice piece of rock, those work best). That is just one example of how some things that are natural to us, are better than some man-made ones. Tpia:Thank you for the visual. |

There are a few reasons why you may think that they do. 1. Chances are, you didnt exactly grow up in Nigeria. Thus, your perception of beauty is skewed (as everyone's is) to favour what you see around you (in the media, most especially). So, to you, a beautiful black woman is a woman who looks like (chances are,); your mom (when she was younger), Beyonce, Halle Berry, Gabby Union, Nia Long, Janet Jackson and the likes. This, and your experiences with black females growing up, would have influenced the way you judge a black woman's beauty. Now, if you were to go to Nigeria, and see females, they're needless to say, going to differ from that (and you're likely to find them unattractive), which brings me to the next point. 2. The lifestyle in Nigeria is different. It is from my experience that even the way folks wear makeup back home is slightly different. And since make up is what most females use to enhance their beauty, it is no suprise then, that you're less likely to find females back home attractive (because by the way they wear makeup, they dont look like the folks you consider beautiful). 3. Your expressions, mannerisms and such, affects the way you look. When I see a Naija dude, and say he got "swag", its certainly different from when the kind of swag an American would have. For example; a dude dancing alanta in Naija may be considered cool to some, but imagine if a dude was to dance like that in the western world; it'd be a little weird. Beauty isnt only subjective, it also varies wherever you go. 4. Globalization is messing us all up badddd in numerous ways. One of these, is that it has opened up our (Africans et. al.) eyes, and made us feel (in various ways), inferior. Folks back home tend to want to mimic what the westerns do, by wearing similar clothes, acting as they do, and even trying to mimic their idea of what beauty is. Unfortunately, most people in Nigeria cant afford that sort of lifestyle, so alot of them end up looking like a big ball of boiling hot mess when they do; hence why they may not look as good to you. Hope that helps. 2 Likes |

MsDarkSkin:whoooooooooooooooooooey! Homegurl was pissed! I dont blame her though. When the dude in yellow spoke and he got applauded, I thought to myself "hmm, I wonder if he would've been applauded if he had a higher number of Black Americans in the audience" and then next thing I knew, Ms Lady in red spoke up. Mr. Yellow sounded good, and I do understand what he was trying to say, but he could have said it in a better way. I too, felt that he was putting Black Africans down, to be honest. Nevertheless, everytime i see clips like these, I wish I lived in the States, because we dont really have congregations like those here where I live (or maybe am just unaware of them). I also wish that they had more Africans there speaking up. Its interesting to know that Black Caribbeans are also marginalized too. I didnt think that they were. Here in Ontario, they really arent, because we dont have as high number of Black Canadians (in Ontario) as they do Black Americans in the States. Again, thanks for sharing. BTW, I just went through your blog. You're taking a break eh? I sure do hope you post again soon. |

KATCHEF: thanks for your opinion. Though I do not agree with alot of the points you made, I understand that they're your opinion, and that you're entitled, and appreciate that you shared them. I think that Africans and Black Americans are different in alot of ways. Most, if not all of these reasons stems from slavery. Matter of fact, the fact that they are so different should be a vivid evidence that slavery did not just end when it was abolished. Its effects are seen in us, even today. The reason why Black Africans are "generally drop out of school before they graduate, get involved in gangs, get pregnant before graduating, get on welfare and the gov't support them " is because they have not been able to overcome slavery's effects. Yes, it is taking them a very long time. I totally agree with that. BUT that is not due to lack of strength or trying. You cannot possibly expect a bird to fly, when its wings have been clipped. You would have to first, reconstruct those wings, would you not? If not, how is it suppose to ever fly? Another important fact to note is that slavery may have ended a long time ago, but segregation and discrimination still abounds till today, and these are things that can impede people's advancements. I hate to tell you, but it isnt only Black Americans who date White people for status. Africans, Asians, and others do. People from oppressed groups do that, because they believe that White people are better than them, and to them, White people signify higher status and class. If anything, I'd say that Africans do this more than any other group. However, my view may be skewed because I know more Africans than I do people of other cultures, so, An interesting thing to note however, is that I have met alot of White women who date Black men, not because they're particularly their types, but for the mere fact that they're black. I find this disturbing, because they get involved with the race, and not the actual person. These are thesame women who also tend to gravitate towards me, just because am black, even when we dont have anything in common. Its a shame, really, but in their cases, it is because the media has managed to convince them that Black people are "cool" (yes, I know this sounds MEGA silly, but this is the absolute truth), and so, these people strive to gain my friendship, in order to gain some status. Silly? I agree. Disgusting? You betcha! I can only hope that you have been successful in your plan. It sounds to me like a great one. Good luck, and please, do let me know how it is going. |

I wish your self esteem wasnt so low. Regardless what you did tonight, remember, you're still human, and for that, you deserve dignity. Whatever you did tonight can be remedied. You can always apologise, though it would be tough as you said that you're pretty headstrong. I'm thesame way. But when you're wrong, you're wrong. And you're better off fessing up and apologizing, than to let your conscience beat you to a pulp. Finances seem to be an issue. I wish I knew what to say to that. |

first, let me clarify something, OP. Deciding to stay in the labour and delivery room with a partner does not make one a sissy. And I'd like to think that the reason most people do it is because the delievery (and labour) period is a really emotional time. Though the woman is delievering the baby, the baby is both the man's and the woman's. THUS the hubby is there to witness the birth of his child AND to provide emotional support. Mnd you, some cultures are still against this, and in m opinion, that too, is alright when both partners in agreement to that. |

Literature / What One Flat backside Said To The Other. by AqRiUsAge(f): 2:36am On Feb 24, 2011 |
To the folks who are written within this: This is for, all these females out there who -have been asked if they really were black because their backsides were too tiny. Way too tidy. -whose beauties diminished once they grew old enough to realize that a black woman's beauty is always behind her. Yes, you know what am talking about. -who have ever said to another "at least i have something, your arse is concaved-in" since its a dog diss dog world out there. - who spends a considerably great mount of time, feeling like she lackswholeness. -can walk into any given room at any moment and within 5 minutes, tell you the butt size of every single woman in that room. She brings with her into every situation this question of her goodness, of greatness or best yet, her 'good-enough-ness'. -who obsessively watches her back since she figured, the whole world must be watching it for lack of its presense. -who feels too stiffled to speak, too shameful to say it yet lives it too vividly to ignore it. -who knows just what Claudia was feeling. Who may have contemplated what she did. Silly though it is, it is no suprise. Who wants to be the forgotten? Who wants to be seen as a defective being? We'd all like to be made whole. I'm just saying though, from one "concaved-backside-woman" to another, I totally, totally, feel you. You(I), are a victim of a deeply superficial time. A victim of nothingness. Of lips with no voices, of eyes without sights. You, are a victim of a time of words that mean nothing. Meaningless. Empty. You are to feel shame when you cannot be used as a free sex tool to which men, women, and these days, kids too, can go home to jerk off to. You, do not offer the world what they can bleep without even touching you. Sorry but your arms isnt sexual enough to bust a nut to, and apparently, neither is your butt. And well, your brain? Who on earth wants to give that a crack? Who wants to hear what you have to sare? How DaRE you wish to be recognized for your beauty? How DARE you wish to be considered "good" enough when well, you do not symbolize femininity. Thus, you are not their "it" girl. Lets shift our thoughts for a second; from us, to these people who I'm calling "they". The "none-us"es; THEM. Them that have been fed this illusion of what makes a woman. Yes, them. Just for a second. And done. I guess we all have been "fed" one thing or another. Been, misinformed one way or another. And back: To the folks who have NO choice BUT to re-feed themselves the truth, I urge you to re-educate yourselves in what it is what makes you whole. You are whole. You were MADE whole. Lack of a 2-pound weight attched to the back of your hips does not make you less of a feminine being. You are whole. Hey, this is getting long, am just saying. From one "flatass" to another, you are still a woman. Sincerely, . http://the-cravings-of-aquarius-age..com/ |
