@maninmood We should learn to appreciate people's profession and their charges. Everybody can never charge the same. Take for instance, my company is owned by a young man of about 28years and i know he is on nairaland because i ve seen him replying to messages. The guy has sent our staff to Ghana, Angola, SA and Singapore for workshops. Our BOQ is usually on the high side but when you see the quality of our work, you ll marvel. Imagine if you call him to do a bungalow for you, he ll incorporate all his office, training, advert and other costs to his bill. @poster, haggle with you contractor, ensure his work is of high quality. visit his previous sites and make ur decision based on that. Some people will do that foundation for 500k while some will do it for 1m, and there re some that will do it for 5m. your quality expectations and your financial status should aid your decision. |

Ibime: Soludo has been trained and involved in research, teaching and auditing in such disciplines as the multi-country macro econometric modeling, techniques of computable general equilibrium modeling, survey methodology and panel data econometrics, among others. Soludo taught these courses at many Universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Warwick. In 1999 he became a visiting professor at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, US. He has also worked as a consultant for a number of international organizations, including The World Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the United Nations Development Programme. @Ibime, don't you think Soludo could be making money from his consultancy services to some of these international organisations. Soludo, in March 1996, was paid $380,000 for his consultancy services to UNDP which my uncle co-executed with him. I am not holding brief for Soludo. He may or may not be corrupt but Soludo's earnings can comfortably buy him a choice house in London and pay his Children's fees in the best private institutions in London. In case you don't know, Soludo is an economist to the core, very conservative and one of the most prudent investors I have ever known. He invested heavily in the UK in the nineties. He had two houses in London that I know of in 2000. So, please its not everybody that depends on their salary. Some people work to satisfy their passion while some work for money/salary. I am convinced that Soludo remained a lecturer at UNN just to satisfy his passion. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

Nuclear plant is really the cheapest and most reliable source of power we can ever think of but the state of Nigeria, management and maintenance culture, does not welcome the running of a nuclear reactor. I have reviewed the deccommissioning of at least five nuclear plants, UK, Germany, USSR, Canada and US, and I can categorically say that Nigeria is very close to extinction if they ever welcome this technology at the level of corruption, bureaucracy and carelessness in the manegement of public infrastructures in the country. I can confirm to you that the devastating effect of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Accident in USSR was felt in as far as USA, the UK phase 1 and 2 deccommissioning which I worked on was feared would lead to death in Ireland, though it was successfully deccommissioned. Furthermore, the canadian Three Mile Island deccommisioning was catastrophic leading to the death of many after the Govt spent about $978million and we know how bad our present Govt is in dispensing funds for public use. Please before any of you make blind arguement, I advise you do a little research about nuclear reactors and their technical mentainance requirements. Nigeria is not ripe for that. You can as well read about the failed reactors in US and Germany to understand the level of radioactive exposure our Govt is about to expose us to in the case of minor fault. May God help us |

@bgees poster is entitled to his analysis and conclusion, if you have any oppossing view to his, do so in a civil manner. The issue in the Niger Delta is strong enough to escalate to civil war but for the selfish attitude of an average Nigerian, who is not ready to die for his brothers, nobody is ready to sacrifice his time and life for the country even those who claim to love Nigeria to their marrow, myself inclusive. Remember the two gun shots of 28th June 1914 fired by Princip, killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, lead to the first world war hence the death of 9million army and 13million civilians. We must learn from history |

ElRazur:It is unethical to browse unofficial sites at work though everybody does it inclusive of the team manager but they picked on me because I visited a Nigerian site. If you remember, sometime last year UK police dished out warning to all managers to monitor the use of computer by their staff following some credit card scam perpetrated by a Nigerian in London from his office PC. |

Tats:I felt more terrible sometime last month when I had my ordeal. I got reported to my Company Manager by my Team Manager for visiting a Nigerian website, nigeriamasterweb.com, during my break and I was cautioned and instructed never to visit any Nigerian website (''scam'') at work again even when I made it clear to them that it is a newspaper site. How worse can it get when people view Nigerian through this negative lens. Its pathetic and disheartening!! |

biina:I only replied your post. I really do not get involved with baseless arguements. Soludo performed very well and I pray everyday that his replacement performs far better than him for the sake of Nigeria. Your Sanusi accolade leaves me in deep ponder. Can you vouch for him with your life? If NO, then cut the arguement until we see his performance. In my opinion, Soludo is more qualified, but qualification is one thing and performance is another. Qualifications dwelling in corruption is close to nothing. Maurice Iwu (Prof) Jerry Gana (Prof) Iseghohi and lots more Its not all about qualification; discipline, natural intelligence, focus, enthusiam to succeed all come into play. I do not stand for or against Sanusi as I can not predict his resistace to corruption ($45billion in our foreign reserve). Until he ascends the sit and I see his performance, I keep my mouth sealed |

biina:Dr Soludo has been visiting scholar[2] at the International Monetary Fund, the University of Cambridge, the Brookings Institution, the University of Warwick and the University of Oxford and a visiting professor at Swarthmore College (USA). He has also worked as a consultant for a number of international organizations, including The World Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the United Nations Development Programme.[1][3][4][5][6] Soludo is a core professional in the business of macroeconomics. He obtained his three degrees and then professorship at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu State. He graduated with a First Class Honors degree in 1984, an M.Sc. Economics in 1987, and a Ph.D. in 1989, winning prizes for the best student at all three levels.[1][6][7] He has been trained and involved in research, teaching and auditing in such disciplines as the multi-country macro econometric modeling, techniques of computable general equilibrium modeling, survey methodology and panel data econometrics, among others. Soludo studied and taught these courses at many Universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Warwick. He has co-authored, co-edited and authored about ten books on this subject matter.[7] In 1998 Soludo was appointed to the position of professor of economics at the University of Nigeria; the next year he became a visiting professor at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, US.[1] Soludo joined the federal government in 2003. Prior to his May 2004 appointment to the bank chairmanship[8], he held the positions of Chief Economic Adviser to former President Obasanjo and Chief Executive of the National Planning Commission.[1]. In January 2008, in a speech to the Nigerian Economic Society, he predicted consolidation in the private banking industry, saying "By the end of 2008, there'll be fewer banks than there are today. The restructuring of the banking industry has been attracting funds from local and foreign investors, which have increased banks' ability to lend to customers".[9] He hopes to see Nigeria become Africa's financial hub,[10] and considers microfinance important to the federal government's economic policies.[11] It has been asserted that in April 2008, Soludo was accused of abuse of his position. However, there is no supporting evidence for this which is accessible via the internet.[12] Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_C._Soludo |

AjaraEwuro: What an arguement!!! You support the military killing of civilians because of the crminal activities of a group of people?? Imagine being wiped off of existence with your family due to the criminal activities of a group of people living on your street. It will be preprostrous for one to take to guns robbing on the street as justification for his being robbed. what court of law will listen to such a feeble arguement?? These are our brothers, feel their pain with me please https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7xzRApvw1k&feature=related The truth is that we lack military intelligence, what happened to the days of undercover agents ![]() |

@ndigbokwen, thanks alot for the info |

@thanks alot promise for you time. Are you a dealer yourself? I have a friend in San Francisco who can help me with the purchase if buying from California is cheaper in terms of shipping. Do you know the shipping cost?. Do you have idea of the cost of 2002/03/04/05 Toyota Camry and VW Passat? Which is the most cost effective way, buying off from owners or thru auction? Do you know of any site where car owners advertise? I have checked www.cars.com but it seems to be more expensive than buying through auction. what is you advise? |
![]() |
I actually live in UK but my friend, who will do the auctioning on my behalf has no idea of any auction centres in Houston (77060) and he has very busy schedule that I do not want to add to it, so I wish to find out the closest auction centres, clean title, in Texas and inform him. I do not have prior knowledge of the market, same as my friend, so I will really appreciate some help here. Having bought a brand new 2010 Toyota Camry, I also wish to buy 2002/03/04/05 Toyota Camry and 2002/03/04/05 VW Passat but I really do not know the shipping and clearing costs. Will appreciate more info. Thanks |
