Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer "Macdonald George", popularly known as Masil Green has released "Contagious” his second single for the year 2020.

It is an afro-fusion that mixes indie pop and dancehall with the savoury and sensational sounds of Afrobeat, creating a jolly and captivating atmosphere that reminds us of the most personal productions of artists like Khalid, Jon Belion or WurlD.

When Masil Green is not making Pop and r&b/soul songs, he's seen making alternative rock, electronic and sad love songs.

According to the newest kid in the industry, he draws inspiration for his music style from Award winning Grammy winners like Billie Eilish, Khalid, Charlie Puth, Jon Belion and the rising afro-fusion star WurlD. ”Contagious" is his first afro-fusion song, was written and composed by himself and produced by Asuzu.

Masil Green is already on the production for the official music video (after already releasing the official lyrics video) and it's set to be released in mid-August.

The 21 years old pop and r&b/soul singer who is signed to his independent record label Few Records, had previously announced on Instagram that the date for the release of his second single for the year "Contagious" to be on July 4th.

Contagious according to him is an afro-fusion that mixes indie pop and dancehall with the savoury and sensational sounds of Afrobeat, creating a jolly and captivating atmosphere that reminds us of the most personal productions of artists like Khalid, Jon Belion or WurlD.

He also went on to say that this new song of his "Contagious" is his first shot at making an Afrobeat infused so as he's not an afro singer himself.

The University of Uyo has released the screening dates and formalities for the 2017/2018 admission process.

According to the registrar, candidates who applied to study in the following faculties are to take note of the date to avoid disqualification as there will not be cases to revisit or conduct screening for candidates who missed their date.

Kelechi Iheanacho will undergo a medical tomorrow with English Premier League side West Ham after Manchester City accepted a bid of £24m for his transfer to the hammers.

The price West Ham are paying for his services makes him the most expensive Nigerian player as his fee eclipsed the 20 million pounds Chanchung Yatai paid for Odion Ighalo for his transfer from Watford.

Iheanacho will team up with West Ham on a permanent deal, with Manchester City having the option of buying him back after two years ‎according to reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.

The 20 year old lost his spot at Manchester City following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, who pushed him further down the pecking order leading to the forward missing out on some of the matchday squad of manager Pep Guardiola.

This caused uproar, chaos and screens especially from the girls whobtook to running in order to save their lives.

The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, has asked the South-east to stop complaining of marginalisation by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

He lamented that all his efforts to persuade the Igbo to wisely invest in Buhari’s presidential bid in 2015 failed because of lack of co-operation by many South-east leaders, who threw their weigh behind former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“This is not a question I should answer because I’m a politician. But before these things happened, before the government of Jonathan failed, I went to all the Igbo fora to tell them that the Jonathan government will fall”, he told Thisday.

“I went to our Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo in Enugu twice. They could not even reply to a letter written by Gen. Buhari, seeking for a meeting with them”, he added.

Ngige, revealed how he went to Lagos and convened an Igbo stakeholders forum in William Nwodo’s house in Ikoyi, Lagos in 2014, where he analysed the voting pattern in Nigeria and told them that even if they did not want to support Buhari, they should give him 25% of their votes.

Authorities in Kuwait recently caught a bird (pictured) with a backpack full of ecstasytablets strapped to its back.

Sent by traffickers, the bird had reportedly began its smuggling route in Iraq and was tracked by authorities on its way to Kuwait.

The bird was caught and once the backpack was opened up, close to 200 small, white pills can be seen spilling out…

A little girl was left traumatised after a sea lion grabbed her as she sat on the edge of a pier before dragging her underwater.

The horrifying incident took place at the Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf in Richmond B.C., in Canada, as tourists watched the animal looking for fish.

Footage shows people laughing as the sea lion bobs up and down in the water.

At one point it jumps right up to a young girl who was leaning over the side of the pier to get a better look.

She flinches back and giggles – seemingly thinking the animal is being playful – before sitting at the water’s edge.

But the sea lion then leaps from the water grabs her by the dress before pulling her in.

Onlookers gasp and scream as a man, believed to be a relative, jumps fully clothed into the harbour to rescue her.

He lifts her to safety before climbing out himself – clearly shaken by the incident.

The sea lion does not reappear as the completely drenched young girl is led away by relatives.

The video was captured by Michael Fujiwara, from Vancouver, who told the Vancouver Sun: ‘I was just sitting by the dock and then this sea lion popped its head out of the water just in front of me. I just took out my cell phone and started filming.

‘The sea lion actually attracted a lot of attention from the visitors there, including the young girl.

‘She and her family, I guess, they came, they started feeding the animal bread crumbs or whatever it was, and then I guess the animal got a little too comfortable.’

Sea Lions are highly intelligent creatures and are generally thought to be timid in nature.

There have been reports of aggressive attacks on humans in the past though it is not known if the animal was trying to harm the girl.

The chief of army staff Tukur Buratai warned soldiers of the Nigerian Army against any perceived plan for a military coup in Nigeria. Buratai also said that any unapproved gathering among the military rank and file and anyone found wanting would be punished servery. But in this fresh piece, the former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode thinks otherwise. The former minister says he is worried as this could be plans by the Northern ruling class to truncate democracy over indication that they might loose power.

I am very worried now. Ever since 1966 the northern ruling class has ALWAYS effected a coup d’etat whenever they feel sufficiently threatened with the loss of power. The only time that they failed to do this, to their eternal regret, was when President Goodluck Jonathan succeeded President Umaru Yar”Adua after the latter’s death in 2010. Up until today they blame my friend and brother Lt. Abdulrahman General Dambazau for that failure and they felt he was weak and cowardly.

This is because he was the Chief of Army Staff at the time and he did not strike. He paid a heavy price for his “weakness” and for not doing their bidding a few years later because when Buhari came to power in 2015 instead of appointing him Minister of Defence or National Security Advisor, which is what he had originally been penned down for, he appointed him as Minister of Interior which is far less strategic and important.

A 22-year-old pregnant woman was kidnapped and brutally gang-raped in Johannesburg’s inner city while on her way home from work at a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning. Is South Africa on a rape rampage?

The woman’s male colleague told The Star they finished work at 4am and were attacked on Lilian Ngoyi (formerly Bree) Street.
Their names have been withheld to protect the woman’s identity.
“We were walking on Bree Street when one guy grabbed her,” the co-worker said. “I told him to stop what he was doing and we ended up in a fight.”

“From there, all I saw were a bunch of armed men surrounding me. They started hitting me, until I ran to get help from a woman who sells newspapers around the corner,” said the 23-year-old bartender.
