Abi.The problem with Zoology students is that they did'nt apply directly to study the course. Most were in the Department due to lack of space in The College of Medicine and Pharmacy school. In my school, most Zoology students sit for jamb yearly or try to transfer to other Departments, while some are sucessful some just accept their faith and work hard inorder to graduate with a good result. An average Nigerian does'nt know much about Zoology and Botany. |

There is no best university in Nigeria because all universities in Nigeria lack one or two things. So it should be BEST IN WHAT?.All first generation Universities are good academically, high number of professors, strong alumni, their graduates spans from all walks of life.UI,UNN,OAU,ABU and UNILAG are the best in their own right.Like i said, these universities lack one or two things. They can do better if Government could take education serious. |

No course is a waste of time.I understand how you feel, though i don't know much about zoology. All i can tell you is to learn a skill, something that will add value to you.Try as much as possible to graduate with 2.1 at least because opportunity can come at anytime, just be prepared. The labour market is saturated already coupled with too many biological/medical courses,be ready to switch fields at anytime.Even the so called professional courses are finding it difficult nowadays.Nigeria of today is not easy and PLEASE do not carry or exhibit any form of INFERIORITY issues in you, studying zoology is not the end of the world. 1 Like |

marvelling:"Nothing special about them" really,We all have a choice.i love the medical aspect of MCB and i found out i would be restricted so much if i should toil pure MCB.I don't like other aspects of MCB.From what you have said,i believe MLS is not in your league in clinical dexterity.MLS is not dragging other aspects of MCB.I have had this arguments several times with my MCB friends.MLS and MCB are not mates i would even prefer MedMCB to Pure MCB.To be clear, what Nelson said is the Truth. 1 Like |

Biochemistry and microbiology are just dumping grounds for those that didn't make it into College Of Medicine. When i was in MCB,we were 310 in class.I just look at the class sometimes and wonder where all these people will fit in.BCH and MCB is not worth it in Nigeria.just go for professional courses, not that these courses will make you rich oh just that they will give you a head start. 1 Like |

MLS is not doubting you all being professionals.but know your limits, because you guys did some practicals in some of these medical aspects you now assume you can man a medical laboratory?hahahahahaha...We that did practicals, laboratory posting from 300-500,write professional exams, viva in which if you fail you repeat the level,as if that is not enough, you must undergo a compulsory 1year internship before NYSC and you guys are comparing?SMH.Read your Acts very well because it is through your Acts that you guys can defend yourselves. All those court cases won by MLS were through the stipulated laws(Acts) that established her.well na Nigeria cause all these things. To be clear,I just know you guys cannot and will not open a diagnostic lab except through MLS.i saw SLT curriculum and i wonder why we are still argueing.SLT is not a short cut to practice MLS.just be proud of whom you are 'SLT' and you will be respected.i read somewhere where a guy(SLT) during NYSC was posted to a hospital lab.the guy was just making mouth,i laughed because that mistake will never repeat itself again.Like i said before, know what you are trained to do (Acts).i changed from MCB to MLS after the scales fell off my eyes that they are not one and same.peace unto everyone. 1 Like 1 Share |

Thank you so much.right from time,i love microbiology but after much research i found out in Nigeria it is a joke except the medical aspect in which you must be lisenced.that was how i got to know about medical laboratory science.i love anything that is organized and specific and medical laboratory science fits in so much. I'll specialize in medical microbiology.Thank you once more. 1 Like |

Goodmorning scientists in the house, please i need an explanation about microbiologists comparing themselves with medical laboratories scientists. I changed from microbiology to medical laboratory in my 2nd yr and my microbiology seniors were angry.they were like"medical laboratory is nothing compared to microbiology and all that" i want to know if microbiologist in the course of their training know about heamatological, histopathological, clinical pathological e.t.c tests and other laboratory teechniques to warrant their comparison with medical laboratory scientists. |

everybody just want to reap where they did not sow, well this is NIGERIA.SLT if you guys want to work or own a diagnostic lab just study MLS and save yourselves from some embarassment.from what i see, most people dont know the difference between a medical research lab and a diagnostic lab. 1 Like |

nigerians are confused.2015,schools like UNILAG,UNN e.t.c increased their cutoff marks, most of us complained "its too high".now they have reduced it we are still complaining. |

120 marks is only for eligibility to sit for postume.what if those with low marks now score high in postume, atleast enough to secure admission into a particular course/department.during my time 2015,i was not qualified to write postume with 234 marks, its that painful.but i thank God it was lifted and i still gained admission into that same pharmacy.let them sit for postume and weed out those not qualified. |

microbiology is good but Nigeria labour market is congested.my own piece of advice is to try and get some skills while in school in order to avoid stories.most of my friends in MCB and BCH are not really hoping to kill themselves in MCB/BCH fields that cannot absorb up to 5% of her graduates.they are acquiring other skills to fit in anywhere opportunity arises. 1 Like |
