I am in total disagreement. Jamb ought to be scrapped. I am a jambite and i have seen cases whereby students pass jamb and fail putme and vice versa and those that failed putme but passed jamb could be attributed to writing their exams in special centre. To me,the delay of the putme is worth it. . .

The solution is not to scrap JAMB. JAMB is there to streamline the admission process and make it fair and in a way protect the students from the many monsters in our universities eager to exploit naive students. The solution is not Post-UME. The best thing is to make JAMB better.

Whoever doesn't know Sati Ramon is definitely not conversant with happenings in Nigeria's social establishment. In Lagos Island and beyond, Sati who is also fondly referred to as “Olowo Fuja” or “Ibu owo” is a top rated socialite and philanthropist. Not a few people have been at the receiving end of his benevolence in the movie, music and other industries. For a very long time, he was the most mentioned celebrity in the Yoruba genre of Nigeria's movie industry. Everyone simply wants to be associated with him. Street Journal's investigations have revealed that the famous Nigerian celebrity will be out of a London jail on the 12th December, 2010. He is currently being remanded at Her Majesty's Prison, Doncaster. Contrary to reports from most celebrity journals in Nigeria that Salawe was apprehended for being in possession of cocaine, Street Journal gathered that as at the time he was arrested, nothing incriminating was found on him. Street Journal however gathered that a certain baron was busted by the British authorities and one of the parcels taken from the baron's house yielded Salawe's fingerprints when forensic checks were conducted. Street Journal also gathered that what put Salawe in trouble with the law was that when the constabulary got to his Galt Hill residence, said to be a great testimony of opulence, Salawe was found to have well over four hundred and fifty pairs of expensive shoes for his personal use. Sources also disclosed to Street Journal that the clothes the police saw in his different wardrobes were more than what could be found in Harrods store at any given time and when he was asked what the source of his stupendous wealth was, Ramon reportedly replied that he earns his living as a contractor in Lagos. He was subsequently dragged before Judge Hartley and his term ends on 12th December, 2010. Though many are expecting that Satti would be repatriated to Nigeria after his term but Street Journal has gathered that that might not happen. Those who feel he might be sent back to Nigeria are hinging their belief on the rumour that Salawe's status in England is that of an illegal immigrant. Investigations have however revealed that the Lagos Island born celebrity is not only staying in South East London legally, his wife works with the British Immigration Department. Street Journal also gathered that after his travails, Salawe will storm the Nigerian social scene. Salawe is known to be close to the likes of Fuji star, K-1 de Ultimate and members of the political class like the Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Alao-Akala and sources have revealed that a grand reception is already being planned to welcome him from Her Majesty's prison

Now I think juju is of real.

Can someone put me in touch with Baba Suwe's babalawo, he seems very very competent.

Politics / Gbenga Daniel On Hunger Strike In EFCC Custody - Sahara Reporters by arsenefc: 11:02pm On Oct 11, 2011
Olu Omo Of Ogun,Gbenga Daniel, On"Hunger Strike" To Protest Detention Conditions

By SaharaReporters, New York

Mr. Justin Olugbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State who was taken into custody in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) five days ago, has gone on hunger strike, his lawyers claimed.

A statement issued today by Yemi Oke, counsel to Mr. Daniel, said the former governor was being detained at the EFCC facility “under unbearable conditions” and subjected to “gruesome interrogations” by operatives of the commission.

“Under normal circumstances, Otunba Daniel should have been arraigned in court since he has spent more than the required period specified by law in detention,” the statement said.  “But at the time of issuing this statement, he has not been arraigned in court and no charge has been preferred against him. Yet he is being detained and his fundamental human rights curtailed for no just cause. Only his wife is allowed access to him.”

Mr. Daniel’s lawyers, the statement said, this morning served the EFCC with court processes seeking to enforce the detainee’s fundamental human rights, but that has been ignored by the agency.  As a result of the ‘worsening’ condition under which he is being held, as well as the curtailment of his fundamental rights, the former governor has now declined food and medication.

“It is noteworthy to point out that one of Otunba Daniel’s interrogators, in an unguarded moment, blurted out that the case against him would not have gotten to this level if he had begged a former president of the country whom he said was behind Otunba Daniel’s travails,” the statement said.  “We therefore call on all men and women of goodwill to prevail on the EFCC to allow the rule of law to prevail by either releasing the former governor or charge him to court. These are the only two options known to law.”

The former governor and former President Olusegun Obasanjo had a major public disagreement within the People’s Democratic Party ahead of the April 2011 elections, and Obasanjo is known to be one of the signatories of the EFCC petition against Mr. Daniel.

Politics / Re:obasanjo’s Secret Letter, Police Raid The Nation Newspaper, Arrests Editors by arsenefc: 9:55pm On Oct 11, 2011
By SaharaReporters, New York

Barely a week after publishing a story on a strange letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan, the presidency today  bared its fangs on THE NATION Newspapers.

Based on the prompting of Nigerian leader and some hawks in the presidency, Inspector general of police, Hafiz Ringim ordered the Force Criminal Investigation Department(FCID) to summon the Editor of THE NATION, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso for interrogation on “forgery.”

Before Mr. Omotosho could answer the summons, policemen raided the offices of the NATION in Abuja today and took away the  managing editor of its Northern Operations, Alhaji Yusuf Alli.

Omotoso, who is presently on a short break in the United Kingdom, has been asked to report at the ‘D’ Department (FCID) since Friday. He is to report to one Superintendent Udoh Joseph.

Curiously, the letter of invitation was dropped on Thursday night at the Abuja office of THE NATION for 1100 hours interrogation last Friday.

The letter, signed by DCP D.D. Gimba (a Deputy Commissioner of Police for Commissioner of Police ‘X’ Squad) was obtained by SAHARAREPORTERS.

The letter said: “This office is investigating a case of forgery emanating from a letter published on the front page of your newspaper; Volume 7 No. 1904 of Wednesday October 5, 2011 under the captioned (sic) “Obasanjo denies letter to Jonathan” and “THE LETTER OBASANJO DENIED.”

“In continuation of our facts finding efforts, you are hereby invited to interview the Deputy Commissioner of Police, X-Squad Section at the premises of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Area 10, Garki-Abuja on Friday, the 7th day of October, 2011 at 1100 hours in the morning.

“Your presence is vital to the prompt determination of this case. On arrival, contact the undersigned officer, please.”

The counsel to THE NATION, erudite Femi Falana however on Monday wrote a letter to the FCID that the Editor, Gbenga Omotoso was unavoidably available because he is out of the country.

He also asked the police to unveil the complainants whose petitions led to the allegation of forgery.

A source said: “Falana is battle ready for any legal action initiated by Obasanjo against the newspaper. The court action will assist to revisit many issues bordering on the moral rights or pedigree of Obasanjo to sue for libel.”

Still undaunted, the police managed to link up with the Editor in London who asked his Abuja Bureau Chief, Yomi Odunuga to meet with the Investigation Officer, Superintendent Udoh Joseph on Monday. But Joseph asked Odunuga to report by noon on Tuesday.

SAHARAREPORTERS however discovered that the invitation was at the prompting of the presidency because the Special Adviser to the President on Publicity and Communication, Dr. Reuben Abati reportedly placed a call to the management of THE NATION on Wednesday to demand the sources of the letter. The management said it was unethical to do so.

A panting Abati, who appeared to have set the tone for the police action, had asked what if the letter was forged. The management said that is left to the court to determine.

But Abati could not make any breakthrough in uncovering the sources before jetting out with the President on his shuttles to Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Ghana on Wednesday.

Some government officials were shocked that the presidency stepped into an issue capable of generating bad blood between the North and the South. Especially at a time another newspaper, Dailytrust, revelaed that the Jonathan presidency had taken most of federal projects to its zone-the South South -leaving other regions without federal project.
