MaxInDHouse:Lols, afi top secret na. You must think na children dey for this board or dense people wey dey outsource their thinking to pastors Babalawo is used strictly for Ifa priests or devotees, i.e., those that specialize in Odu Ifa or worship Ifa But there are different kinds of awo (occultic groups), one of which is Ifa cult specifically for babalawos (ifa priests or devotees) you don't even know the history of this subject To become a babalawo (ifa priest or devotee), a person must do the ceremony called itefa. So they've laid down rules to join their occultic group (Ifa cult). Odu Ifa came from Orunmila and Ifa, and Orunmila was the first babalawo or grand priest of Ifa in Yorubaland. Babalawo is strictly for the Ifa cult But there are different kinds of awo in Yorubaland Babalawos are Ifa devotees or priests There are Sango cult, Osun cult, Obatala cult, and the likes built around or formed by a specific deity or the other All these are awo, too, but babalawos belong to Ifa cult specifically That's why it's good to research things online before going deep into them because once you join all these cults, it's extremely difficult to leave later on, just like the cults (awo) of the foreign religions as well |

Why dis m0ron dey spam my mentions? Mentally sick people really plenty for Nairaland because I don't know how an adult doesn’t know how to engage others like a person that has a sound brain Who cares about what you want to research? Is this one daft or mentally sick? |

Not here to engage an MOG slave, fighting for his gods masquerading as pastors. Na people wey dey tell you to research and learn things for yourself online be scammers and manipulators because they don't collect a dime from you, no be the ones that tell you to pay tithes or charge you unnecessarily because you're dense See an adult that hates to be told he needs to think for himself. Don't worry, just outsource your thinking to your pastors There are many honest people using native knowledge systems for research/work or practicing ATR without scamming and defrauding others like your pastors |

MaxInDHouse:All that's semantics, which I'm not interested in discussing. How will a person be called baba onifa without doing the rites of joining awo, which makes them a babalawo? There are laid down rules for such rites online on blogs and books on the subject about Yoruba culture and traditions I use the term "Ifa devotees" /"Ifa priests" to refer to babalawos, and that usage has a key significance in this subject. Ifa devotees or Ifa priests (who I call babalawos) are different from other people, for instance, students or researchers, who know Odu Ifa alittle or a bit more but don't belong to any awo (occult) and don't worship Ifa Such people may even be a descendant of Ifa or Orunmila directly or indirectly but still they don't worship them Don't mix things up. Even Ifa priests/devotees don't recognize such people as individuals (members) within their fold because such people are often quite objective about Odu Ifa, which the priests or devotees usually find offensive or disrespectful Look at the individual talking about Ifa earlier, which I think the mod banned; such people are mere researchers, not in any awo. No Ifa devotees/priests will tell you that Odu Ifa has limits (only people into academia do such) In fact, the priests hate hearing such, and they don't usually consider researchers of Odu Ifa as belonging to to their fold Researchers don't know or observe their codes of conduct |

There are scientists, doctors, teachers, chemists, even a Nobel laureate, writers, historians, artists, and many other professionals supporting/using African native knowledge systems or practicing ATR and making a good living honestly in Nigeria and overseas Popular examples are the renowned professors whose pictures are shown below. Nairaland needs to upgrade itself and stop allowing mischievous people to clamp down on the rights of other members of this forum.

You mentioned random people (strangers) to share their insights on Odu Ifa. When they answered your question honestly and told you to use online resources to learn, you called them scammers and manipulators. Yet, no one asked you for a dime or cares about whether you learn Ifa or not There's a reason people like me don't recommend books of Ifa to people. It's to prevent situations like this Once a person supports indigenous knowledge systems, automatically the mischievous adherents of the foreign religions will be looking for all means to set them up Yet, there are many people supporting indigenous knowledge systems or practicing ATR that live and treat people with honesty and integrity and have good jobs. |

epainos:This fellow needs to be banned for posting wrong information on Nairaland and harrasing other members. You're advised to do your own research using resources online, but you're calling people scammers, manipulators all about without any single proof. How did I scam you? You go about calling random people you just met on a forum scammers without having any dealings with them. Rules 2 and 8 broken. Telling you to do research yourself online on a subject yourself is not called a scam anywhere. Cc: Seun, Nlfpmod epainos:Rule 8 broken. I don't know why Nairaland allows this sort of people to harrass other members anyhow without any justification. He was even trying to contact another member off Nairaland, breaking Nairaland's rules |

epainos:What have you taught here so far that's not available online. Someone advised you start learning Ifa online, but instead you're trying to contact them off Nairaland and coercing them to send you books. You want to be spoonfed. There's a reason that person recommended you should learn using Google and didn't state going to one babalawo (ifa priest) or the other to prevent falling into the hands of fraudsters, which are in every religion, including ATR. But no; it's lies and get-rich-quick schemes you're looking for all about. You said they're manipulating you because they told you the simple truth. What people spend years to learn, he wants to learn that in a day here on Nairaland. Na why dem dey scam this kind of people easily, always looking for shortcuts where there are none I don't know why people are not being reasonable. Even when you gain admission into a uni to study any course, you're not taught everything at once but in batches or levels. Also, there are books of Ifa online both free and paid. But you expect to be spoonfed. You want everything to be posted here on Nairaland. No one will teach you how to do research on things yourself Someone told you not to worship Ifa, but still, they want to enslave you. Nairaland Church propagandist The person you mentioned did not advertise or call you to come and learn Ifa, na you know wetin you dey find all about when you no fit stick with your Jesus |

MaxInDHouse:The way you post lies all about is mind-boggling. All what you said here is only a figment of your imagination. It's totally different from the reality Anyone following events in Nigeria and overseas knows adherents of ATR, including babalawos (often translated as Ifa priests), are a minority in Nigeria and have held little or no key political positions Dey post your lies small small, no be kids dey dis forum |
