Science/Technology / Ghanaian fintech startup convinces American football legend to invest in it by atigate(m): 6:22pm On May 09, 2019
Joe Montana being an American Football legend and having Liquid 2 Ventures as his company and 500 Startups to invest a Ghanaian Fintech Startup, Chipper Cash, an African fintech startup owned and managed by Maijid Moujaled, who has been able to convinced the American footballer to invest in his startup. The startup, a no-fee, cross-border payments operating company, has been able to generate an amount of $2.4 million seed round.

Chipper Cash, the Ghanaian fintech startup, was founded by the Ghanaian serial techpreneur Maijid Moujaled together with his Ugandan counterpart, Ham Serunjogi. After going live last year in October, this has helped the startup to be part of the emergent fintech sector in Africa. Chipper offers no-fee, P2P, cross-border mobile-money payments in Africa, similar to Paypal’s version in Africa.

The Headquarters of Chipper Cash currently is in San Francisco (US), but has offices in Ghana and Nairobi, Kenya. Currently, the startup is having over 70,000 active users and has made 250,000 transactions for these users according to the Co-founder, Serunjogi.

To talk about the American footballer, “He was quite excited about what we’re doing and his belief that the next wave of [tech] growth will come from…Africa” said by the co-founder, Serunjogi as published on Tech Crunch.
500 Startups were led by Sheel Mohnot to invest in Chipper Cash. He compared Chipper Cash’s structure to PayPal as the commonly used and globally popular payments company. “When PayPal started it was just a consumer to consumer free app. It still is free for consumer to consumer, they but they monetized the merchant side. That model is tried and tested. It just doesn’t exist in Africa, so Chipper has the opportunity to do that.”

Plans moving forward with this investment
With the investment as seed funds, Chipper Cash will be launching Chipper Checkout. This will be a merchant focused, C2B, mobile payments product similar to Paypal. This would be the premium side of the fintech company. The organisation plans to use the income from the paid Chipper Checkout to support the no-fee Chipper Cash service.

Chipper Cash is planning to expand its operations in Ghana currently, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
The startup is developing structures and putting things in place to tap into the global remittance market in West Africa. This market according to the World Bank is worth $38 billion.
Ham Serunjogi and Majiid Moujaled met at Grinell College, Iowa, when they were doing their undergraduate degrees.
To wrap up, Ghanaian fintech startup convinces American football legend to invest in it and here's all you need to know.

Science/Technology / Introduction To ICT Catalogue As Tech Blog In Ghana by atigate(m): 8:20pm On May 08, 2019
Here’s An Introduction to ICT Catalogue as a technology blog in Ghana!
You are first of all welcome you to ICTCatalogue.com as a tech blog in Ghana.
I first of all, kindly wish each and everyone a happy day to this tech blog in Ghana as they struggle hard to achieve success at the end of the day. But please as you are working hard, then also learn to work smart because in the world of money making, people who works smart are those people making it a lot in the world of technology for making money. By the way, the above is just a simple, brief but good informative idea I just gave and I hope one day I would publish an article on that on ways of making it with technology and everything that is needed for you to gain success in the world of dotcomology.

In terms of technology, there are many ways to make from it and it depends on the field you choose and the sort of field you are expected in. Someone like a website developer is a person likely to be developing websites for clients just online and be making money from this as a passion and someone who is found to be a graphic designer is likely to be doing graphic designing jobs on the gig websites available online such as Fiverr, CediJob or 15Ghana as Freelancer etc.
For today, I’m going to introduce to you some brief about the passionate technology blog now functioning as a technology website in Ghana and beyond. I said this because this tech blog is going to be known worldwide and some of its popular countries would be Ghana, U.S, U.K, Canada, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait, Qatar, India and some that I cannot mention here for now due to time sake.
ICT Catalogue is the title of the website and the name of the guy behind is, Emmanuel Atigah, who is popularly as ATIGAH.
ICTCatalogue.com is proudly a technology blog, people even say website but whatever, it’s a website with the vision and passion of reporting on all latest news on technology and bringing to you latest technology gadgets that you don’t know and have not heard before but it’s our priority as a technology addicted to bring to you as a viewer. With the aims of the Staff at ICT Catalogue, it’s the desire to be reporting to you on all technology trends covering;
• Tech lifestyles
• Technology apps such as software, hardware, gadgets and devices
• I.C.T Reviews
• Best I.C.T tips and tricks
• Latest I.C.T job opportunities, I.C.T career and Exams
• I.C.T news in Ghana and beyond Ghana.
Even though there can be other things to be fused into this technology journal making it somehow entertained by adding some sections like entertainment, business, gossips, fashions, relationships but the passion for technology is what makes Staffs at ICT Catalogue technology website proud to be proving you with all current and latest technology updates from the corner of technology experts.
In Africa, technology is what we lack the passion for, showing no interest to it, but in terms of the western part of the world, technology is what is making them advanced in all they are doing. This is because a child of 5 years old may start using a computer for playing computer games be it playing games online or offline, youth of 17 years old, may start learning how to hack into a computer database, how to hack computer files, how to hack banks and the rest but in Africa, a person of 25 years old is now learning the basics of computer from how to use a computer, introduction to desktop publishing and so on. Haaha! That’s funny right?

This calls for the need to have passion for technology devices and gadgets and to know how to use it effectively and efficiently.
As I’m about to conclude with my statement, I may say technology is one of the tools for nation’s development so people need to partake in the use of technology and show interest in it by buying its components.
With the above information given, I hope it gives you brief information of ICTCatalogue.com as a technology website in Ghana functioning in all part of the world.
I hope to hear from you by commenting on this technology journal with the comment box given below and also help us share this article with friends online.

Science/Technology / How Technology Has Increased The Social Gaps In by atigate(m): 6:37pm On Apr 11, 2019
How Technology Has Increased Social Gaps In Education
Simple and educative article on how technology has helped by increasing the social gaps in our education system and a recommended article by staffs at ICT Catalogue.

Technology has become part of our everyday life and there’s no way we can live in a single day without technology. With this, the application of Science and Technology has helped to make the life of mankind easier and simple. Machines that are made are all from the ideas gotten from the application of Science and Technology, access to the internet, various websites and social media sites are all what we can mention not to forget about.

Technology was invented by humans to bridge the communication gaps but not to forget that aside this as the primary aim of inventing technology, it was also meant to help spread through many other areas of human endeavor which is including education. This development has not taken successful effect yet in stitching the social gaps in education but rather the differences that seem to increase as more technology products are invented each and everyday.

Education always turn around the cycle of inequality and social class. With this, the rich parents always send their children to schools that are with amplified facilities having teachers with updates knowledge, children of the poor on the other side too, are sent to the public schools. Before this, public schools were about the best schools with some of the latest facilities and things has now changed not to also talk about the unspeakable gap that technology has filled.

The discrimination we are talking about would have been fair enough if it stopped at schools but no; it spreads uncontrollably into the society like virus. Infact between schools and the society, we can hardly say which is influencing which. To avoid many doubts, here are some of the ways technology has inspired social-gaps in education.

It has modified discrimination
The Knowledge gaps
Affordability is relative
Online education

It has modified discrimination
Discrimination often presents itself in several ways, racial, gender, age and economic but in an academic setting, the discrimination takes advantage of school ownership. From the way we have it today, private schools are the birthright of the rich and powerful who could afford to pay the big bills. If by chance you see a child from a poor background it must be through sponsorship or scholarship. It is in this platform that you meet children choosing playmates or clicks that are of same social status.

Students and kids alike bring along their tech gadgets for use in school; if you do not have it, you are to find your levels. The most intimidating of all is when students tend to keep trends with latest the gadgets and buy them as soon as it’s out for sale.

The Knowledge Gap
You cannot possibly equate the IQ of a child who is exposed to several methods of learning to one that is only familiar with normal class room sermons. The introduction of virtual reality and augmented reality into education has totally enhanced how pupils and students gain learning experiences and even the method of learning but the experience is totally different in a local schools, low financed schools and of course public schools.

Affordability
In terms of affordability, it is known to be one of the only thing standing between knowledge gap. If you can afford tech enhanced education, you have, if you can not you go for less. In the early days of education, admission was based more on advantages than any other factor but as of now, money is the first on the list if you need quality education.

Online education
Online education provides as far as ICT is concerned, is a valuable opportunity to bridge this skills gap, helping workers gain the skills required to pursue entry-level jobs in growing fields like technology, business, healthcare, and data science. Sometimes, workers who can effectively up-skill will be in a competitive position to obtain better paying jobs that employers have a hard time filling.

Summary:
In summary, implementing technologies in our classrooms are one of the merits students can use to learn and develop the passion for the use of technology gadgets in their everyday life
