well if you are looking for freebies, i think you have to stay for a longer time before you finally get it, and also note that any thing that is free has reason of being free or cheap, if you come here with a visa under company sponsorship, that means you have to work for the company for 2 years before you can join any other company, and believe me that company would use you like a slave and be paying you little salary, when you compare your salary with people around you,

you will feel sorry for your self, so if you wish to come here, better pay for your visa( LOOK FOR PEOPLE LIVING HERE THAT CAN HELP YOU GET THE VISA AT A GOOD AMOUNT), when you arrive after obtaining your Resident Permit the company that did your visa will give you NO OBJECTION LETTER which will enable you to work with any other company.
But if you are a professional with experience(ELECTRICAL,CIVIL,ARCHITECTURE,MECHANICAL,MEDICAL DOCTOR, NURSE OR EXPERIENCED IN OIL AND GAS FIELD) you could be applying for Job online via Gulf Jobs,if you get offer, you can discuss better terms with the company before you travel, NOTE THIS COUNTRY IS NOT GOOD FOR HUSTLERS,AND IS NOT SO EASY AS YOU MAY THINK, BUT IF YOU CAN PERSEVERE WITH TIME, THINGS MIGHT WORK OUT (but the salary Scale is far better than Naija)

I live and work in Qatar, if he is not a graduate of Engineering/Technology with core experience in construction industries and oil and gas then let him forget it, because is not so easy as you may think.

@ jidebobo, are you a graduate? what is your course of study? what do you mean that you are working for an agent? are you on your own visa or company sponsorship? when you answer this, then i will know what to say.

well some people face difficulties because of orientation they had and inability to follow up and upgrade/ package them self well, and secondary the kind of people you live with also affect the kind of life you live. this place is abroad every body is not meant to be equal, yes some people might be facing challenges do to lack of proper guidance and orientation.am not saying am good but that is what i realize.

in all am not discouraging/encouraging any person to travel, you have to personally make that decision by your very self.
thanks.

sorry for not replying on time, as i said before, you can get the visa via company in Qatar or family/relative living Qatar, that is the only way, but if you see good agent fine, but in all don't go for visit visa, because some agent might deceive you and give you visit visa, when you come here it will be so difficult for you,

am not going to drop any contact or link here because is against the rule of this forum
thanks.

as a civil engineer you are hot cake here, Qatar visa is done in Qatar via company, but is very difficult for them to hire from outside, except when you are here. so you need 5 years work visa. if you have family here who can arrange visa for you fine, or company who can arrange the visa for you. Requirement for the visa is your data page of your passport. when the visa is ready you confirm online via ministry website.

kazzy78: i"m civil engineer with 12 yrs experience in construction industry need a qatar work permit, kindly advise on the procedure to secure the visa.

Education / Re: UNIZIK Seeks Nuc’s Approval To Admit More Students by avenza: 6:29pm On Jul 18, 2012
I think is a good idea, federal government should increase the qouta given to universities for admission.

As per bribery, unizik is a very difficult place to do admission runs. No matter how many millions you have except you meet the cut off mark for admission.before you can now think of that, am talking from experience.
I advice federal government to introduce 3 admission calender per year.

More Stories on This Section

I had travelled from Lagos to Port-Harcourt on Saturday, March, 10 2012, by 7.45a.m, in one of Nigeria’s airlines (name withheld by Daily Sun). The flight was smooth. When we touched down, an elderly man was complaining that his hand luggage had been swapped with another bag. I just laughed inside me, thinking that the man was not smart. I left the airport for the ceremony I went to attend in the Garden City.

I never knew it would be my turn to lament. As I opened my bag to bring out a bundle of N200 naira notes during the ceremony, I discovered that it had vanished. Evaporated into the thin air. The thing looked like cinema. I emptied my bag, searched and searched but the bundle of money was gone. It then dawned on me that the same fate that befell the man I disdained in the aircraft had befallen me. Thankfully, I had my ATM card, which I used to withdraw money.

I returned to Lagos the next day with the same airline, and after the plane had gained stability in the air, I asked to speak to the most senior air host. I gave my complaints, telling him it was informal, but just for his information.

They (two other crew members came to the back of the plane, beside the restroom) listened attentively to my story and sympathized deeply with me. But they gave me a rude shock when they said such happening was no longer new. According to them, it happens from Lagos to Port Harcourt, Lagos to Abuja, Lagos to Dubai, Lagos to  UK and Lagos to USA. Bags have been missing in the past, with more than half a million naira gone; dollars have disappeared along international routes. They further explained that once a traveller passes through screening at the airport, everything in the bag is known and the cartel will put one of their agents on board to carry out the ‘business.’ I asked them to make a move to stop the evil, but they just laughed and said the cartel was powerful.

I suppose people should not carry money in a bag when travelling by air. If you must carry cash or other valuables, maintain eye contact throughout the duration of the flight (no sleeping, or napping, no dulling). Once, the plane taxis to a stop, grab your luggage at once, else someone will block your view while you are seated and the other agent will carry out the ‘business.’

My wife is still lamenting that the missing money could have made some difference in the kitchen. Please alert air travellers to be vigilant about their valuables. We are really living in perilous times.

i am a business person, so i submitted my tax clearance, certificate of incoporation, bill of laden , and many other documents pls i need ur advice
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by avenza: 2:37am On Apr 25, 2012
pls house i need advise concerning my visa issue, i was refused on the following grounds

you state that you will fund your proposed trip to the UK and have submitted your personal bank statements evidence of finance. You state you monthly income to be 180,000(£720) however the credits and balances in your account are not commensurate with your declared monthly income
you have not provided an ITCC or any further evidence of your stated income and I am therefore not satisfied that your income or employment is as claimed. Therefore on the balance of probabilities I am not satisfied that you will be maintained and accommodated in the uk without working or having recourse to public funds or are able to meet the cost of return or an onward journey by paragraph 1(vi) and (vii) of HC395
I therefore refuse your application because I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you meet all of the requirements of the relevant paragraph of the united kingdom immigration rules.
Your right of appeal is limited to the grounds refered to in section 84(1)© of the nationality immigration and asylum act 2002 (www.legislation.gov.uk) .

so pls i need your best advice because am confused now, please note that i submitted all the necessary documents.
