In as much as it is laughable for anyone to think once your international passport expires, you cease to be a citizen of your country. I think the same cannot be said of diplomatic passport (this is a special kind of passport) and i want to believe if it is not renewed, you cannot lay claim to citizenship of such a country.

Even though i am neither Obedient nor Batified, but as one of the concerned citizens who has been keenly following this brouhaha, this judgment above only upheld the fact that "the stated requirement is valid and recognized by law". A clear interpretation was however not given as this was not part of the prayers of the case. I think the supreme court will this around have to give a clear interpretation to that section of the constitution not just because of this election only but to avoid similar confusion in future elections. Please let us note that only the Supreme Court which is the policy court can interpret any section of the law

Politics / Re: Sewage Could Hold The Key To Stopping New Coronavirus Outbreaks by ayokemi009: 12:35pm On Jun 02, 2020
Africa is really lucky because many of those who contacted the virus here have mild symptoms and this is why we are not really taking it serious. Some government officials are also cashing out from the outbreak

Serious countries are already preparing for the second wave of the outbreak

Leipzig, Germany (CNN)The vast brown rivers of sludge that gush into the sewage treatment plants across Germany may hold a key to early detection of any new wave of the coronavirus, scientists tell CNN.

The Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research is leading a trial that's sampling wastewater from plants serving some of the largest urban areas and trying to find evidence of the coronavirus.
The ultimate goal is for almost all sewage plants to install these coronavirus early warning systems so as to track the spread of Covid-19.
"It would be the first test line," said microbiologist Hauke Harms, one of the leaders of the study. "You would start with our measurement and then you would know where to go to look for the reasons. Normally it is a hospital, or I don't know, a factory where you have an outbreak. And then one would have to test the people."
The concept seems fairly simple: Sewage contains remnants of the virus from human feces. If those concentrations suddenly jump, sewage plants would detect that and alert authorities to take action and begin targeted testing of the area in question.
Critics say lockdowns will be more damaging than the virus. Experts say it's a false choice
Critics say lockdowns will be more damaging than the virus. Experts say it's a false choice
The sewage plants in the area of the eastern German city of Leipzig -- which can serve populations of between 100,00 and 600,000 people -- are among those taking part in the study.
"If it would be possible to have an idea of the concentration of coronavirus in the wastewater, we can calculate the number of infected people in Leipzig and this would be very interesting in the coronavirus strategies," said Dr. Ulrich Meyer, the technical director of Leipzig's waterworks.
But in reality, it's not as straightforward. At Leipzig's main sewage plant, samples are extracted every two minutes as the wastewater streams through 24 hours a day.
The scientists at Helmholtz acknowledge that finding a small amount of genetic material (or RNA) from the virus in a giant river of waste is a monumental task.
"We have a high, high volume of waste waters and it is a challenge to find the traces of the virus in the waste waters," said Rene Kallies, a virologist working on the project. "So we have liters and we have to scale it down to microliters to get a sufficient amount for RNA extraction and that's the challenge."
Yet, the scientists say they could detect a Covid trace surge within a day and transmit that information to local authorities.

Family / Re: I Hit My Wife by ayokemi009: 9:46am On Dec 16, 2019
In as much as what he did is totally irresponsible, involving a third party over a matter they could have easily resolved; since this is happening for the first time and the guy is really remorseful about his action, is a big NO for me. He should let her stay in her father's house until they all come to the terms with the fact that their daughter is now married and should be allowed to remain married.
How will she feels if the guy at any little altercation decides to report their issues to his own family. Marriage is for matured being and you should only walk away when you noticed your partner really have a problem and he cant be helped.
oyoolima:
Oga you said you "took" the back of your hand and gave her a slap.

This hand must be made of iron to cause instant bleeding. Tomorrow you may "take" the front of your hand and now beat her proper.
No wonder the woman ran for her life.

Coming back at 2am is not ideal for someone that is married with a family.

I do not know what throwing hands means.
If she is shouting and you cannot take it shout hard too ,let your voice be louder so you both enjoy the madness together.

Or tell her you will not engage in conversation if she's screaming then lock yourself in the room till she's calm.

This apology you're giving now,if you had put this much effort into saying sorry for coming back this late, your hand would not have located her mouth.

Now the whole family knows you have twitchy hands. How will you now meet their eyes without shame. Budding wife beater is your new nickname.

Your marriage is still new,you both need to learn to resolve conflict in a less hostile manner.

A whole 33 year old man,5 years you used to senior your wife and you cannot manage your home.

Better go and watch war room.

*Your wife did well to invite outside forces since you slapped her hard enough to cause bleeding, it is also likely you would have slapped her again or even hit her if she had kept quiet about it(in your mind, you would start seeing it as the quickest way to keep her quiet),so my brother from now on, if something happens to her the whole world already have small insight into who dunnit.*

Politics / "Na Belle I Carry, I Nor Kill Person'' - Tboss Shares Photos Of Herself Heavily by ayokemi009: 3:06pm On Aug 27, 2019
After many months of speculations, reality TV star, TBoss, has confirmed she was pregnant and has welcomed her bundle of joy.

In a post shared on her Instagram page this morning, the 35-year-old said she had to keep her pregnancy away from social media because she was scared of the negativity of some users.

Not revealing the sex of her baby which many speculate is a girl, TBoss wrote;

What is it about our Generation that’s Always so eager to post up our private lives on Social Media?

We get Good news- SM, Not so good news- SM, Someone offends us, someone owes us money, breakups, new home, new car, new shoes, fake designer shoes, borrowed stuff- There’s Absolutely No Mystery anymore. You wanna know about a person? Just look up their SM pages & you’d get a pretty close picture of whom you’re dealing with.
I agree I’m not exactly social media compliant but I’m also guilty of sometimes putting more than I ought to have out there thereby subjecting myself to being misinterpreted, misquoted, misunderstood & highly misjudged.

And that’s why it was extremely difficult for me to keep my pregnancy all to myself.
I mean it was without a doubt The Best news I have ever had & God knows I wanted to shout it out so as to be heard to the ends of the earth BUT I had to ...
Not because I was ashamed or nothing of the sort. Hey, I’m a Grown woman let’s be Real.

I was Afraid. I was afraid of exposing My best news to the negativity of little & sad minded people of which unfortunately happen to be a lot... I wanted to enjoy this journey, savor every little moment, understand what was happening to me, my body, keep my sanity for my good & the good of my unborn child.
Pregnancy is indeed a roller coaster ride and as Ecstatic as I was, it really hit me.

My friends all knew- if you didn’t oh well- maybe that’s your cue. I went shopping & out a lot & took lots of photos with my beautiful fans - Selfies Only of course & never felt the need to cover up or hide anything- And why should I? Do you know the struggle a lot of women go through to get what I have? A Free Gift from God! And you think at 35 I ought to feel some type of way because someone has an unsolicited opinion about me? Ha Ha Ha... Silence is NOT denial.

My silence was just that: Silence- until I was ready to speak about it.

This is just a normal routine maintenance of the existing track and not the new standard gauge, it is done like every 3-4 years. Those who reside along that axis should be familiar with that
ExcelDeBaron:

Jokes on you. You never got the subte message I was passing across!!!

Did you not notice that the Chippings there are still fresh? Which means that no new railway was constructed!!! Especially in that Agege axis. Old ones are being brought back to life?

Why then say that new rails are being constructed around around Lagos as being peddled in the mainstream media undecided undecided lipsrsealed

oz4real83:
NERC always make laws that protect discos. They never talk about what benefits the customers. Uptil now, estimated billing is still an issue. Bedc controlling Edo,delta, ondo and Ekiti has delibrately refused to supply prepaid metres,no metre asset provider has undertaken the task and yet NERC pretends nothing is wrong. When u keep pushing the people to the wall, one day, they turn back and fight u.
I totally agree with your point

That is the way to go. if major industries can buy power directly from GenCos, cases of power rejection by Discos will likely reduce since the little coming to them from GenCos can be effectively distributed and managed accordingly.
Politics / CTC: Power Consumers To Pay For Leaving Discos’ Networks by ayokemi009: 10:37am On Jul 10, 2019
The Competition Transition Charge (CTC) is a new rule to make prospective Eligible Customers (EC) and other consumer class, compensate the 11 electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) for leaving their networks to buy power directly from Generation Companies (GenCos). Daily Trust analyses this rule as contained in Section 28 of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSRA) 2005 and enforceable by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

NERC on June 14, 2019 notified the public of a 21-day period in which it is soliciting contributions to a consultation paper on the CTC before the final rule is made. This period will elapse on Saturday July 6, 2019.

The commission said the CTC shall enable the DisCos recover permitted revenue and return on invested assets arising from the exit of ECs from their network. ADVERTISEMENT The Eligible Customer Regulation To ensure improved and competitive electricity supply, the former Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, empowered by the EPSRA, declared the Eligible Customer Policy in May 2017. Fashola directed NERC to create the regulation that will enable electricity users who are not satisfied with the services of the DisCos to opt to buy power directly from the GenCos and have the energy transported to them by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

By November 2017, NERC unveiled the Eligible Customer Regulation, opening the door for heavy industries, especially members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), to connect to GenCos through TCN. The regulation permits such bulk electricity customer to pay Transmission Use of System (TUOS) to TCN for using its energy wheeling facility to get the power to its facility. If, however, the Eligible Customer is using the DisCos line to deliver power directly to its facility, it will pay the DisCos the Distribution Use of System (DUOS) fee. In August 2018, Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd (MESL), operator of Kainji and Jebba hydropower GenCos announced that at least six of such companies (ECs) have been connected and are getting power directly to their facilities.

Many stakeholders including MAN, and operators of some GenCos have complained that other than the regulation, NERC had not provided the rules of engagement to enable more customers to disconnect from DisCos’ networks and get their power directly from GenCos. NERC then published a draft consultation paper on the Competition Transition Charges (CTC) which it said would be in place before the regulation becomes completely implementable. Upon expiry of the period for the public to submit contributions on Saturday, NERC will also hold stakeholders consultation workshops in each of the 11 DisCos to review written submissions and receive further comments from the public.
