Romance / Teenager Sells Her Virginity To A Businessman For $3million by ayolatv: 9:44am On Nov 17, 2017
A teenage model has sold her virginity for $3million to an unidentified businessman in order to pay for her tuition fees.

The girl, named only as Giselle, auctioned her innocence through the notorious website Cinderella Escorts.

An unnamed businessman apparently made the highest offer of $3million – outbidding a Hollywood celeb and a Russian politician, according to the site.

According to Daily Mirror, Giselle, a 19-year-old American, says she plans to use the money for tuitions fees and travelling.

“I would never have dreamed that the bid would rise so high and we would have reached 2.5 million euros,” she said.

“This is a dream come true.

“I think the trend to sell your virginity is a form of emancipation and I am shocked about people who are against allowing a woman to sell her virginity.”

“If I want to spend my first time with someone who is not my first love, that’s my decision.”

A hotel has already been booked in Germany for the encounter and Giselle will be accompanied by security and can cancel at any time, it is claimed.

Cinderella Escorts, described as “the world’s most famous escort agency”, has been accused of taking advantage of girls who say they want to auction their virginity.

They rose to worldwide fame earlier this year when Aleexandra Khefren, an 18-year-old Romanian model, sold her virginity for 2.3 million EUR (£2million) to an unnamed Hong Kong businessman.

Health / Tragedy! Civil Servant Commits Suicide After Wife Gave Birth To Triplets In Kogi by ayolatv: 8:19am On Oct 23, 2017
A 54-year old civil servant in Kogi State has allegedly taken his life, barely 10 days after his wife gave birth to triplets.

Mr Edward Soje, who was a director in the Kogi State civil service allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree in Lokoja, the state capital.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered on Saturday in Lokoja that the dangling body of Soje was found on a tree behind the mammy market at the Maigumeri barracks, the Nigeria Army Command Record.

Mr Soje decided to take his life barely 10 days after his wife of 17 years gave birth to a set of male triplets in a private hospital in Abuja. The couple had been childless before then.

Soje, a Grade Level 16 Officer in the Kogi State Teaching Service Commission, was being owed 11 months’ salary arrears as at the time he took his life.

He hailed from Ogori town in Ogori -Magongo Local Government area of the state.

He had before killing himself travelled to Abuja and left a suicide note for the wife who also works in one of the federal ministries.

“Psalm 121:3 God will not suffer your foot to be moved: He that keepeth you will not slumber. Amen. You and the three boys, the God Almighty will keep you and prosper you, amen. I love you,” according to the suicide note.
Confirming the incident, the state police command Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya said that the dangling body of Soje was found on a tree behind the barracks at about 5:55 p.m on Oct. 16.

Aya said that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Area D Division received information about the incident from the military intelligence office in the barracks.

“Police moved to the scene, removed the corpse to the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja. Investigation is still ongoing,” Aya said.
The police spokesman said that nothing was found on the man to help trace his address and family.

However, a search party organised by his relations and friends, found his corpse at the morgue of the hospital on Friday, Oct. 20.

Family sources said that Soje had before the incident been going through a lot of financial pressure due to non-payment of his salary for 11 months by the Kogi State Government.

He was among thousands of civil servants being owed between two and 21 months’ salary arrears by the state government.

As a way out, he was said to have sold his only car and a three-bedroom bungalow he was building at Otokiti area of Lokoja.

The building which was at lintel level was sold by Soje at a giveaway price of N1.5 million in April to meet urgent family needs, it was gathered.

According to the sources, Soje’s financial woes became compounded when the wife gave birth to a set of triplets through Caesarian operation in a private hospital in Abuja on Oct. 7.

The deceased remained in the hospital to look after wife and children until Oct. 13, a day before the naming ceremony when he decided to come back to Lokoja.

On getting to Lokoja, Soje went straight to his bank to collect the remaining N30,000 in his salary account with one of the commercial banks and thereafter informed the bank in writing about his decision to close the account.

He immediately left Lokoja for the hospital in Abuja where he rejoined his wife and handed over the N30,000 cash to her.

On Oct. 14, Soje and wife were joined by two pastors and few relatives to perform a brief naming ceremony for the triplets in the hospital.

He later left the hospital on the pretext that he wanted to pick few things from the wife’s apartment in Abuja with a promise to come back quickly.

But Soje did not return for hours and did not pick any of the many calls made to his telephone line, a development which forced the wife to send somebody to the house to go and ascertain what was happening to him.

The person, on getting to the apartment knocked the door severally but no response and decided to call his telephone number.

On hearing the telephone ringing out from the apartment, the person was said to have knocked severally again but no response, this made him to seek the assistance of neighbours to force the door open.

When the door was opened, the people were shocked when they saw Soje’s telephone handset placed on a suicide note on the centre table in the sitting room while he was nowhere to be found.

When the wife was informed, she quickly contacted some people to begin a search for him in Abuja while relations and friends in Lokoja were also informed of the development.

Efforts made to locate him did not yield fruit until relations decided to visit hospitals in Lokoja, the decision paid off eventually on Friday, October 20 when the corpse of Soje was found in the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

A member of the family said that the management of the hospital explained to them that Soje’s corpse was brought in by the police, who found it dangling on a tree.

A member of the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the late Soje as a “very quiet and lovable human being. “

He said that some members of the family have been sent to Abuja to break the news to the wife and refused to answer further questions.

Romance / Groom Shame Bride By Playing A Video Of Her Infidelity On Their Wedding Day by ayolatv: 9:15am On Oct 07, 2017
A groom in Singapore decided to get revenge on his ‘cheating’ bride by playing a footage of her alleged infidelity in front of their wedding guests.

According to Mirror, their loved ones and guest were stunned when they saw the bride ‘behaving intimately’ with another man on the screen.

The video as reported began with the bride and the groom’s relationship so far but suddenly, there was a clip of the bride with another man going into a hotel room and afterwards had intercourse in the room.

According to sources, the groom who is a wealthy businessman hired a private detective to trail his wife-to-be few weeks before their wedding. Perhaps, he had suspected that she was cheating on him.

After the video was played at the wedding, the ’embarrassed’ and ‘humiliated’ bride is said to have run out of the wedding hall.

It was not clear whether the ceremony had taken place by the time the groom got revenge on his ‘cheating’ partner.

The story became viral after the secret detective hired by the groom, Miss Zhuo granted an interview with a Singaporean media on the issue.

Zhuo said she expected her client to call off the wedding but she was amazed when she received an invitation to their wedding.

She claimed she spent six weeks monitoring the fiancée before reporting back on her alleged findings to her client.

She said it was only when she saw the tape of the woman appear at the wedding that she understood the groom’s motivation.

The footage was played in front of “many” guests, Ms Zhuo said.

The couple and the alleged lover have not been named.

Health / ‘monkey Pox’ A New Viral Disease Breaks Out In Bayelsa State by ayolatv: 8:54am On Oct 05, 2017
A new viral disease called ‘Monkey Pox’ has emerged in Bayelsa State, leaving a doctor and 10 others in quarantine.

According to the Nation, a medical doctor and 10 other persons who came down with the monkey pox had been quarantined in an isolation centre created at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) Okolobiri, Yenagoa local government area of the state.

The isolation centre was reportedly created by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the epidemiological team of the state’s Ministry of Health to stop the spread of the disease.

It was learnt that the NCDC and the epidemiological team were tracking 49 other victims, who had come in contact with the infected persons.

The state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ebitimitula Etebu, who confirmed the development, said samples of the virus, had been sent to the World Health Organisation (WHO) laboratory in Dakar, Senegal, for confirmation.

He described monkey pox as a viral disease caused by a group of viruses that include chicken pox and small pox, adding that the first case was noticed in the Democratic Republic of Congo and subsequently had outbreaks in West Africa.

Saying the virus has the Central African and the West African types, the commissioner said the West African type is milder and has no records of mortality.

“Recently in Bayelsa State we noticed a suspected outbreak of monkey pox. It has not been confirmed. We have sent samples to the World Health Organisation (WHO) reference laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. When that comes out we will be sure that it is confirmed. But from all indications, it points towards it,” he said.

He said as the name implied, the virus was first seen in monkey, but could also be found in all bush animals such as rats, squirrels and antelopes.

Etebu added: “The source is usually all animals. It was first seen in monkeys and that is why it is called monkey pox. But every bush animals like rats, squirrels, antelopes are involved. So, the secretions from particularly dead animals are highly contagious.”
The commissioner listed the symptoms of monkey pox as severe headache, fever and back pain amongst others, adding that most worrisome of all the signs were rashes bigger than those caused by chicken pox.

Politics / Diezani Begs Court To Order AGF To Bring Her Back To Nigeria by ayolatv: 7:51am On Oct 04, 2017
A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, reportedly wants to come back to Nigerian to defend a case filed against her.

According to Punch, she urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to compel the Attorney General of the Federation to bring her back to Nigeria from the United Kingdom, where she traveled to shortly after leaving office in 2015.

Diezani said she would like to appear in court in Nigeria to defend a criminal charge bordering on alleged laundering of N450m, where her name was mentioned.

The main defendants in the charge are a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Dele Belgore; and a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman.

Belgore and Suleiman were charged before Justice Rilwan Aikawa for allegedly collecting N450m from Diezani and laundering same in the build-up to the 2015 general elections.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which filed the charges, claimed that the N450m was part of a sum of $115m which Diezani allegedly doled out to compromise the 2015 general elections.

The SAN and the professor were arraigned on five counts, wherein Diezani’s name was mentioned, but she was declared as being “at large.”

At the resumed proceedings in the case on Tuesday, one Obinna Onya, a lawyer from Abuja, appeared before Justice Aikawa with an application seeking the joining of Diezani as one of the defendants in the charge.

The application, filed pursuant to Section 36(1),(5),(6 (a)-(e) of the Constitution and sections 216 (1) (2) (3) (4); and 217 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, sought an amendment to the charges against Belgore and Suleiman, so as to join Diezani as one of the defendants.

The lawyer contended that contrary to the declaration by the EFCC that Diezani was at large, the former minister was in the UK and was willing to return to Nigeria so that she could appear in court to take her plea and defend the charges..

The lawyer argued that since Diezani’s name had been mentioned in the charge, it would be against her right to fair hearing for the case to proceed without affording her the opportunity to defend herself.

“The statement made by the prosecution means that the applicant (Diezani) is going to be convicted without being given the opportunity to defend herself,” Onya told Justice Aikawa.

The application prayed for an order “mandating the Attorney General of the Federation, being the agent of the complainant, to facilitate the prompt appearance of the applicant in court on the next adjourned date, to take her plea and to defend the allegations made against her in counts 1, 2,3 and 4 of the charge, numbered FHC/L/35c/2017.”

Onya urged Justice Aikawa to hear and determine the application before proceeding with the case on Tuesday.

But the prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, opposed him, saying the application was not ripe for hearing, as he had yet to be served.

However, Onya told the court that he had attempted to serve Oyedepo on Tuesday morning on the court premises but that the prosecutor declined, adding that his effort to serve the application at the EFCC office on Friday was also frustrated.

But Oyedepo advised him to go and serve the application at the registry of the EFCC, assuring him that the application would be accepted.

Responding, Justice Aikawa said the court could not entertain the application until all the parties had been properly served.

Meanwhile, the trial proceeded with the second witness for the EFCC, Usman Zakari, continuing his testimony.

Through the witness, Oyedepo tendered two letters written to the EFCC in relation to the case Standard Charted Bank Nigeria Limited and Guaranty Trust Bank.

The court admitted the two letters as exhibits in evidence against the defendants.

However, Oyedepo’s attempt to tender a trail of electronic mail communication between Diezani and the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank was resisted by the defence counsel, Mr. Ebun Shofunde (SAN) and Olatunji Ayanlaja (SAN).

They contended that the document was not admissible as, according to them, it did not meet the requirement of the Evidence Act.

Oyedepo sought an adjournment to counter the objection by the defence.

Justice Aikawa adjourned till Wednesday, October 4 for continuation of trial.

In the charges, Sulaiman, a professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Abuja; and Belgore, a former governorship aspirant in Kwara State, were accused of conspiring between themselves to commit the offence on March 27, 2015.

The duo were accused of making a cash transaction of N450m on March 27, 2015, without going through any financial institution.

But they pleaded “not guilty” to the charges. ‎

Crime / 16-year-old Boy’s Manhood Disappears After Shaking A Stranger by ayolatv: 4:09pm On Sep 27, 2017
A 16-year-old boy by the name Salvation has reportedly lost his manhood after shaking hands with a stranger in Kurudu area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja on Monday, Premium Times reports.

Salvation who is reportedly from Abia State, had claimed that his manhood shrank and that he was unable to urinate after shaking hands with one Usman.

According to a witness, Usman, an electrician from Nasarawa State, went to the area in search of a brothel.

Usman’s first point of contact was Salvation, who after showing him the direction to the brothel noticed some physical changes on him and raised alarm that attracted the attention of passers-by who pounced on Usman.

Narrating the incident, a teary-eyed Salvation said he had never set his eyes on Usman until that night.

“I locked my brother’s shop around 7:45 p.m. to go and watch Arsenal match. This guy (Usman) came to ask me to ask for ‘Ashawo’ (sex worker) joint is in this area. I pointed the way to him and afterwards, he shook my hand.

“When he shook my hand, I just felt a change in my body, I felt something left me. I tried to urinate but I couldn’t. That was how I raised alarm and people held him (Usman),” he said.
After the alarm, residents and traders in the area reportedly accosted Usman, beat him up and were about lynching him before soldiers from the Post-service Amy Estate came to his rescue.’

Usman, a father of two, however denied using charms to ‘take’ Salvation’s manhood.

“I came to the area and asked him where I can get an Ashawo joint. He showed me the place and that was all. Before I knew what was happening, people were already beating me, accusing me of taking his manhood. I don’t have any ‘juju’ and I don’t know anything about it. Today is the first day I will attempt to visit an Ashawo joint,” he said.
After hours of pacifying Usman to undo the charm, one of the sympathisers suggested Salvation be taken to a brothel to “test if the manhood has been restored.”

Heeding the advice, Salvation was led to a brothel where he was reportedly able to ejaculate with the aid of a sex worker.

Usman, however, remained in custody of the soldiers perhaps for his safety.

Health / Doctors Revive Man Who Had Been In Coma For 15 Years by ayolatv: 4:53pm On Sep 26, 2017
A 35-year-old man who had been in coma and vegetative state for 15 years after a car accident has shown signs of consciousness.

This happened after a vagus nerve stimulator was implanted into his chest, researchers said Monday.

The outcome, reported in the U.S. journal Current Biology, challenged the general belief that disorders of consciousness that persist for longer than 12 months are irreversible.

“By stimulating the vagus nerve, we show that it is possible to improve a patient’s presence in the world,” Angela Sirigu of Institut des Sciences Cognitives Marc Jeannerod in Lyon, France, said in a statement.
The treatment, known as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), is already in use for epilepsy and depression.

The vagus nerve connects the brain to many other parts of the body, including the gut, and it’s known to be important in waking, alertness, and many other essential functions.

To test the ability of VNS to restore consciousness, the researchers wanted to select a difficult case to ensure that any improvements couldn’t be explained by chance.

They looked to a patient who had been lying in a vegetative state for more than a decade with no sign of improvement.

After one month of vagal nerve stimulation, the patient’s attention, movements and brain activity significantly improved, they reported.

The man began responding to simple orders that had been impossible before. For example, he could follow an object with his eyes and turn his head upon request.

His mother reported an improved ability to stay awake when listening to his therapist reading a book.

After stimulation, the researchers also observed responses to “threat” that had been absent. For instance, when the examiner’s head suddenly approached the patient’s face, he reacted with surprise by opening his eyes wide.

After many years in a vegetative state, he had entered a state of minimal consciousness, the researchers said.

Recordings of brain activity revealed major changes in areas of the brain involved in movement, sensation, and awareness, and also showed increased brain functional connectivity.

A PET scan showed increases in metabolic activity in both cortical and subcortical regions of the brain, too.

The researchers said the findings showed that the right intervention can yield changes in consciousness even in the most severe clinical cases.

“Brain plasticity and brain repair are still possible even when hope seems to have vanished,” Sirigu said.
The researchers are now planning a large collaborative study to confirm and extend the therapeutic potential of VNS for patients in a vegetative or minimally conscious state.

In addition to helping patients, Sirigu said the findings will also advance understanding of “this fascinating capacity of our mind to produce conscious experience.”*Xinhua

Sports / PSG Opens New Offer For Cavani Just To Allow Neymar Take Penalties by ayolatv: 10:44am On Sep 26, 2017
The owner of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifa, offers Edinson Cavani an improved contract in exchange for allowing Neymar to take penalties.

According to El País, Al-Khelaifa offered the Uruguayan forward one million euros if he finishes the season as the PSG’s leading goal-scorer in Ligue 1. That clause was not previously in his contract. Cavani, who has scored seven goals in seven league matches so far this season, rejected the offer.

The remarkable offer stems from an on-pitch spat between Cavani and Neymar, who joined the Parisian club for a world-record fee in the summer, during a 2-0 victory over Lyon. The pair bickered in the 79th minute over who would take a penalty. Cavani eventually took the spot-kick, and missed.

The two players had a similar argument several weeks earlier, when PSG beat Saint Etienne 3-0. On that occasion, Neymar asked Cavani to take a penalty, and the former-Napoli striker refused his request.

Manager Unai Emery publically closed the issue by stating that he will decide who takes penalties, yet the rift ostensibly runs deeper than the issue of who shoots from twelve yards.

On behalf of my country, Nigeria, I congratulate you Mr. President on your election and Mr. Gutteres on his first General Assembly outing as our Secretary-General. Mr. President,

3. I must also commend the UN’s role in helping to settle thousands of innocent civilians caught in the conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. In particular, we must collectively thank the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany under the commendable leadership of Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Governments of Italy, Greece and Turkey for assisting hundreds of thousands of refugees.

4. In an exemplary show of solidarity, the international community came together within my own region to assist the countries and communities in the Sahel and the Lake Chad regions to contain the threats posed by Al Qaida and Boko Haram.

5. We thank the Security Council for visiting the countries of the Lake Chad Basin to assess the security situation and humanitarian needs, and for pledging assistance to rebuild lives and livelihoods. Indeed, in Nigeria we are providing relief and humanitarian assistance to millions in camps and those afflicted by terrorism, drought, floods and other natural disasters.

6. In the last year, the international community came together to focus on the need for gender equality, youth empowerment, social inclusion, and the promotion of education, creativity and innovation. The frontiers of good governance, democracy including holding free and fair elections, and enthronement of the rule of law are expanding everywhere, especially in Africa.

7. Our faith in democracy remains firm and unshaken. Our regional organisation ECOWAS came together to uphold democratic principles in The Gambia – as we had done previously in Cote D’Ivoire.

8. Through our individual national efforts, state institutions are being strengthened to promote accountability, and to combat corruption and asset recovery. These can only be achieved through the international community cooperating and providing critical assistance and material support. We shall also cooperate in addressing the growing transnational crimes such as forced labour, modern day slavery, human trafficking and cybercrime.

Mr. President,

9. These cooperative efforts should be sustained. We must collectively devise strategies and mobilise the required responses to stop fleeing ISIS fighters from mutating and infiltrating into the Sahel and the Lake Chad Basin, where there are insufficient resources and response capacity is weak.

10. This will require strong UN cooperation with regional organisations, such as the African Union, in conflict prevention and management. The UN should continue to take primary leadership of the maintenance of international peace and security by providing, in a predictable and sustainable manner, adequate funding and other enablers to regional initiatives and peacekeeping operations authorized by the Security Council.

Mr. President,

11. New conflicts should not make us lose focus on ongoing unresolved old conflicts. For example, several UN Security Council Resolutions from 1967 on the Middle East crisis remain unimplemented. Meanwhile, the suffering of the Palestinian people and the blockade of Gaza continue.

12. Additionally, we are now confronted by the desperate human rights and humanitarian situations in Yemen and most tragically in the Rakhine State of Myanmar. The Myanmar crisis is very reminiscent of what happened in Bosnia in 1995 and in Rwanda in 1994.

13. The international community cannot remain silent and not condemn the horrendous suffering caused by what, from all indications is a state-backed programme of brutal depopulation of the Rohingya inhabited areas in Myanmar on the bases of ethnicity and religion. We fully endorse the call by the Secretary-General on the Government of Myanmar to order a halt to the ongoing ethnic cleansing and ensure the safe return of the displaced Rohingya to their homes in safety and dignity.

14. In all these crises, the primary victims are the people, the most vulnerable being women and children. That is why the theme of this session: Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet” is most apposite.

15. While the international community grapples to resolve these conflicts, we must be mindful and focus on the widening inequalities within societies, and the gap between the rich and the poor nations. These inequalities and gaps are part of the underlining root causes of competition for resources, frustration and anger leading to spiralling instability.

16. The most pressing threat to international peace and security today is the accelerated nuclear weapons development programme by North Korea. Since the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, we have never come so close to the threat of nuclear war as we have now.

17. All necessary pressure and diplomatic efforts must be brought to bear on North Korea to accept peaceful resolution of the crisis. As Hiroshima and Nagasaki painfully remind us, if we fail, the catastrophic and devastating human loss and environmental degradation cannot be imagined.

Mr. President,

18. Nigeria proposes a strong UN delegation to urgently engage the North Korean Leader. The delegation, led by the Security Council, should include members from all the regions.

19.The crisis in the Korean peninsula underscores the urgency for all member states, guided by the spirit of enthroning a safer and more peaceful world, to ratify without delay the Treaty prohibiting nuclear weapons, which will be open for signature here tomorrow.

Mr. President,

20. I end my remarks by reiterating Nigeria’s abiding commitment to the foundational principles and goals of the United Nations. Since our admission as a member state in 1960, we have always participated in all efforts to bring about global peace, security and development. Nigeria will continue to support the UN in all its efforts, including the attainment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

I thank you.

Crime / Police Arrests JSS 3 Student Alleged To Be A Cult Leader by ayolatv: 10:38am On Sep 19, 2017
A Junior Secondary School (JSS III) student has been arrested by the police for allegedly being the leader of a cult group.

The 16-year-old was identified as Afolabi Omotoyosi and alleged to be the leader of a cult group.

The Police and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) arrested a teenager Afolabi, and 16 others for alleged cultism related offences in Mushin, the Nation reports.

It was reported that the Junior Secondary School (JSS III) pupil was said to have been armed with cutlasses and knives during his arrest on Saturday and was believed to be preparing to attack residents.

Omotoyosi’s confession, security agents said, led to the clampdown of the others yesterday. According to LNSC’s spokesman, Olawale Afolabi, the teenager confessed to being the gang leader, adding that he committed thuggery, bullying of other school children and residents.

Afolabi said the other suspects including a lady, were being interrogated by the police.

Romance / No One Has Proposed To Us – Military Women Griefs Loneliness by ayolatv: 10:26am On Sep 19, 2017
A group of Ghanaian military women has surfaced on social media, after expressing how serving their country cost them their love life

According to Gossipmail.com, in a recent interview at Burma Camp, some women blamed their singleness on the timidity of some Ghanaian men, saying they (men) lack the courage to propose to them.

According to them, their statuses as military women plays a big part why they find it difficult to marry.

Few statement was quoted from One of the military women who spoke on condition of anonymity;

“When we took the hard decision to defend and serve mother Ghana we never anticipated that it was going to cost us an opportunity to find our life partners,”

Another woman added;

“It has been more than 4yrs in the service and not a single man has made an attempt to approach me not to talk of proposing to me.

Apart from being a military woman, I am human too with needs.., how do you expect me to give out my best when those needs are not met?”

Health / HIV Vaccine Breakthrough As Experts Generate Immune Cells To Stop Spread by ayolatv: 10:14am On Sep 18, 2017
*Chronic pain common in people living with virus
An effective Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) vaccine may be a short step away now scientists have overcome a major stumbling block hindering its development.

The big hurdle has been the inability to generate immune cells that stay in circulation long enough to stop the Aids virus spreading.International researchers believe they have solved the problem by ‘unblocking’ a process linked to an HIV protein that was halting the production of antibody-generating ‘B-cells’ from the immune system.

Lead scientist Professor Jonathan Heeney, from Cambridge University, said: “For a vaccine to work, its effects need to be long lasting.“It isn’t practical to require people to come back every six to 12 months to be vaccinated. We wanted to develop a vaccine to overcome this block and generate these long-lived antibody producing cells. We have now found a way to do this.

“What we have found is a way to greatly improve B-cell responses to an HIV vaccine. We hope our discovery will unlock the paralysis in the field of HIV vaccine research and enable us to move forward.”

The researchers compared their achievement, reported in the Journal of Virology, to “preventing a key getting stuck in a lock”.In laboratory experiments, the new approach produced desired immune system responses that lasted more than a year.In future it should be possible to produce vaccines that stimulate long-lasting B-cell responses against HIV, the scientists believe.

Prof Heeney added: “B-cells need time to make highly effective neutralising antibodies, but in previous studies B-cell responses were so short lived they disappeared before they had the time to make all the changes necessary to create the “silver bullets” to stop HIV.

“We hope our discovery will unlock the paralysis in the field of HIV vaccine research and enable us to move forward.” Also, because ongoing pain is a significant problem that affects 39 to 85 percent of people living with Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV), everyone with the infection should be assessed for chronic pain, recommend guidelines released by the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases. Those who screen positive should be offered a variety of options for managing pain, starting with non-drug treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy, yoga and physical therapy, suggest the first comprehensive guidelines on HIV and chronic pain.

“Because HIV clinicians typically are not experts in pain management, they should work closely with others, such as pain specialists, psychiatrists and physical therapists to help alleviate their patients’ pain,” said Douglas Bruce, MD, MA, MS, lead author of the guidelines, chief of medicine at Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, and associate clinical professor of medicine at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. “These comprehensive guidelines provide the tools and resources HIV specialists need to treat these often-complex patients, many of whom struggle with depression, substance use disorders, and have other health conditions such as diabetes.”

The guidelines recommend all people with HIV be screened for chronic pain using a few simple questions:
*How much bodily pain have you had during the week?
*Do you have bodily pain that has lasted more than three months?

Those that screen positive should undergo comprehensive evaluation, including a physical exam, psychosocial evaluation and diagnostic testing. Nearly half of chronic pain in people with HIV is neuropathic (nerve pain), likely due to inflammation or injury to the central or peripheral nervous system caused by the infection. Non-neuropathic pain typically is musculoskeletal, such as low-back pain and osteoarthritis in the joints.

HIV specialists should work with an interdisciplinary team to offer multi-modal treatment. The guidelines recommend offering alternative, non-pharmacological therapies first, including cognitive behavioral therapy, yoga, physical and occupational therapy, hypnosis and acupuncture. If medication is needed, the guidelines recommend beginning with non-opioids, such as gabapentin (anti-seizure medicine) and capsaicin (topical pain reliever made from chili peppers), both of which help with nerve pain. The online version of the guidelines includes an extensive list of resources for physicians to reference to help them treat the patients comprehensively.

Religion / “the World Will End On September 23,” – Christian Numerologists Claim by ayolatv: 8:29am On Sep 18, 2017
A Christian numerologist claims that the world will end next Saturday, September 23rd, when a planet will, supposedly, collide with Earth.

According to David Meade, verses in Luke 21:25 to 26 are the sign that recent events, such as the recent solar eclipse and Hurricane Harvey, are signs of the apocalypse.

The verses read:

“25: There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

“’26: Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.’

Sept. 23 is a date that was pinpointed using codes from the Bible, as well as a “date marker” in the pyramids of Giza in Egypt. Meade’s views are not endorsed by Roman Catholic, Protestant or eastern Orthodox branches of Christianity.

Meade has built his theory on the so-called Planet X, which is also known as Nibiru, which he believes will pass Earth on Sept. 23, causing volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and earthquakes, according to British newspaper The Sun.

But NASA has dismissed the claims, insisting the Planet X theory is merely a hoax.

This will not be the first time that the end of the world is being predicted, yet the said day came and passed with nothing happening. In year 2000, many were convinced the world will end.

Christian preachers in Papua New Guinea predicted the end of the world in 2000 and people prepared for it but nothing happened. Then it was predicted that the world will come to an end on Dec. 21, 2012. This prediction was taken so seriously that it inspired a movie and a song both
titled 2012.

Politics / Newly Leaked Phone Conversations Indicate Cabal Advised Buhari To Resign. (AUDIO by ayolatv: 10:10am On Sep 14, 2017
Newly-leaked telephone conversations between two members of the cabal around President Muhammadu Buhari feature a suggestion he should resign his office because of his ill-health, with cabal frontliner Abba Kyari, his Chief of Staff, becoming Vice President.

In the first conversation, the caller informs the recipient of a new development concerning Mamman Daura, the President’s powerful nephew, and Mr. Kyari, saying they had sneaked into Kaduna from abroad on a chartered plane.

The call recipient is further informed that Daura and Kyari were received by Mr. Lawan Daura, the Director-General of the Department of State Security (DSS), but that they did not go to the DSS boss’ home.

Scroll down for video…

He then pleads that his friend give him some time to call you back, apparently needing to do something else.

The conversation resumes after the interlude when the call initiator calls back.

Referring to President Buhari’s poor health, the caller reflects the confusion within the cabal: “They held a meeting, including Sani Zango Daura. They said they held a meeting; they are looking for a way out. They are in a cul-de-sac. They said Mamman Daura is trying to convince the President to resign on the condition that Abba Kyari be made Vice President,” he disclosed.

His friend blurts out an expletive in Hausa language.

The call initiator then discloses that the scheme was presented to Professor Ango Abdullahi, the spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum and that he rejected it out of hand.

The initiator tells his friend he needs to speak with Professor Abdullahi and get him to buy in.

His friend agrees, saying: “I will go and see him in Kaduna.”

The caller, apparently satisfied, says, “Better. Because the matter is very sensitive now and they are all in town.”

“Okay, we will do our best,” responds his friend, as the conversation ends.

In another leaked phone conversation reported yesterday by SaharaReporters, Mamman discussed Buhari’s health issues with cabal member Mahmud Tukur, and dismisses First Lady Aisha Buhari as a “suicide bomber from Yola.”

Politics / Nnamdi Kanu Reportedly Placed Under House Arrest, Lawyer Reveals by ayolatv: 11:40am On Sep 13, 2017
Following the invasion of soldiers of the Nigerian army to the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor reportedly revealed his client was placed under house arrest.

According to a statement issued shortly after the incident, Ejifor said his client home Umuahia, Abia was surrounded by the soldiers, two days after the clash between soldiers and the IPOB agitators.

He also accused the soldiers of killing at least four members of IPOB in the area.

“Just to notify the world that my client’s (Nnamdi Kanu) house is presently under siege by the trigger-happy soldiers acting under the direct instruction of chief of army staff,” the statement read.

“He has been placed under house arrest at the moment while shooting sporadically into the air. Casualties are being counted as the unprovoked assault progresses. Some IPOB members have just been killed at least four people.

“They drove in in their thousands to arrest and maim him. I just got a distress call from him now. Further efforts to establish contact with him have remained unsuccessful.

“As it stands now, I can’t confirm whether he is dead or alive.”
Ejiofor further said the federal government launch of the ‘Operation Python Dance’ in the South East was principally targeted at eliminating my client.

“It (the exercise) is yielding the desired result to the presidency, having launched a manhunt for my client and unarmed members if Indigenous People of Biafra,” he added.

“Let the world know that the federal government has practically abandoned their case in court in search of a brute route to eliminate my client.

“As I type this statement, his residence has been cordoned off by the military, majority of whom are of Fulani extraction.

“The world should hold Buhari-led federal government responsible if anything untoward happens to Nnamdi Kanu. The situation is very tense at the moment.”

Crime / Unbelievable! Policeman Kills A Final Year Student Because Of N100 by ayolatv: 10:52am On Sep 12, 2017
A policeman has allegedly been accused of killing a final year student, Imo Ekanem of the Department of Mass Communication, Uyo City Polytechnic, Nduetong Oku, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State over his refusal to give N100 bribe.

According to an eyewitness, Usung Simeon who spoke with PUNCH, said Ekanem who rode a motorcycle was stopped and searched by the policeman attached to the special squad the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, sent to the area to fight cultism, but when nothing was found, the policemen demanded N100 from him, but his refusal to part with the money led to the policeman killing him.

“He was shot dead after a heated argument with one of the policemen attached to the special squad sent by the Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, to fight cult activities in our local government area.

“Because cult activities are always carried out with the use of motorcycles, the police have been conducting stop-and-search excercise on riders. So, they just stopped and subjected Ekanem to a search and nothing was found on him. But we were surprised that the police demanded a N100 bribe.

“His refusal to part with the money infuriated one of the policemen, who cocked his gun and shot him at a close range.”
The incident was later confirmed by the state Police PRO, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, who denied that Ekanem was killed over his refusal to give the policeman a N100 bribe.

According to him Ekanem tried to collect the rifle from the policeman, who shot and killed him in self-defence.

He said:

“The matter was not a N100 issue, although we are still investigating the case.

“After our meeting today (Monday), the Commissioner of Police directed the Area Commander, Ikot Ekpene, to transfer the matter to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Ikot Akpanabia for a thorough investigation.”
According to him, necessary actions are taken to ensure that the proper punishment or fair treatment is given.

Politics / ‘buhari Should Run For Second Term’ – Senator Abba Ali Advises by ayolatv: 12:58pm On Sep 11, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari’s childhood friend, Senator Abba Ali has said Buhari should run for the second term to finish what he has started, by bringing sanity to the country.

In an exclusive interview with Punch, the second republic senator Katsina/Dutsinma district in the National Assembly, Abba Ali said Buhari is in a healthy state to run for the second term, and has done a good job.

“President Buhari is hale and hearty; let me first clear that impression on his health. Those urging him to resign on health ground have forgotten that God is the creator of mankind and he has the final say on when one will die. I have seen an old man in Katsina here who was in coma for four months, yet the old man thereafter lived for another eight years before he eventually died. I have also seen a situation where a man was seen today in good health and died the following day not as a result of accident but normal natural death.

“That is God for you. So, those saying President Buhari should resign on health grounds are going beyond their limits. They are not God and they are playing God by saying so. Only God knows beyond anybody.

“President Buhari should go for a second term in office. He has started a good job which is acknowledged both within the country and globally and it is better he contests again for a second term in office so that he can finish the good job he has started. Everybody knows that this man is not out to accumulate wealth but to put Nigeria in its appropriate place in the comity of nations. This man is out to see that Nigeria is great again. And he has been doing all within his powers to achieve this. He realises that no country can be great with corruption. So he is fighting it with zeal and he is also tackling insurgency and all forms of criminality.

“He knows that Nigeria needs good infrastructural development and he is pursuing this. Look at the Mambilla power project that has been abandoned. He has resuscitated it. There are other projects being embarked upon by his government to ensure that the Nigerian youths are no longer jobless. So, I strongly support the call for his second term in office. By the time his second term ends, he would have laid a very solid foundation for whoever that is coming after him to leverage on. God, in his own wisdom, made President Muhammadu Buhari to be above board compared to his fellow politicians.

“We are prepared to support him to ensure that his second term bid succeeds and I believe that President Buhari will succeed while his detractors will fail.” PAY ATTENTION: Read the news on Nigeria’s #1 new app Asked if President Buhari is the only politician that can handle the menace of corruption in the country.
He added:

“Based on my experience in politics and with my age, I am saying it with all seriousness that I have not seen anybody among the current crop of politicians in the country who has a good intention like President Buhari. Many of them have amassed enormous wealth meant to take care of their people. Many are still stealing blindly. President Buhari stands out among the current political class in Nigeria. I will rather encourage him to go for a second term so that there will be sanity in the political sphere.”

Food / Nigeria: Recession Winding Down As Food Prices Falls by ayolatv: 7:48am On Sep 09, 2017
Farmers and Stakeholder acknowledged the positive development to the sustained focus on agricultural development by the federal government.

According to report Farmers and stakeholder spoke with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondents across some states in the zone.

They expressed optimism that the effort at revamping the country’s ailing economy would materialize, if the renewed focus on agriculture persisted.

References was made to government’s efforts at strengthening the naira by encouraging locally produced goods and how it has positively affected the agricultural sector, which yields back to the good price of food stuffs.

Testimonies from different people from different states:

In Oyo State, a maize seller, Azeez Zubair, told NAN in Ibadan that a measure (mudu) of maize, which cost N420 before the current harvest period, now goes for N200 while a bag of maize, which was sold for N18,000 previously now cost N10,000.

Also Read: BREAKING: Nigeria Finally Out of Economic Recession

Also speaking, Romoke Fashola, a yam seller, said that six tubers of yam that previously cost 3,000, now sells for N1, 200 while the price of 60 tubers of yam had dropped to N18,000 from N30,000.

Alao Adetayo, a farmer suggest if quick action would be taken on the the bad roads, which he identified as one of the factors that causes rise in agricultural sector.

Reacting to the development, Oyewole Oyewumi, the Oyo Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Human Development, said the state government had embarked on various measures to boost food production.

Oyewumi said that the government had begun to recruit many unemployed youth into agriculture through the inauguration of the Oyo State Agricultural Initiatives (OYSAI) tagged ‘OYO AGRIC’.

He said that this effort had contributed to increased food production and the resultant affordable prices of farm produce this harvest period.

The commissioner added that the government had also embarked on the repair and expansion of rural roads to ease the transportation of farm produce from rural communities to urban areas.

In Osun, a similar trend was observed in different parts of the state, especially at major markets in Osogbo and Ile-Ife.

A yam seller at Itakogun market, Ile-Ife, Christiana Alani, said that five big tubers of yam, previously sold for N4,000 now cost N2,500.

Mrs. Alani added that five small tubers which cost N1,200 before harvest, now sell for N800.

She observed that a small bag and a measure of maize, which sold for N24,000 and N350, now cost N21,000 and N300 respectively.

Similarly, in Alekuwodo market in Osogbo, five big tubers of yam now cost N,3000 as against N4,500 before the harvest while a bag of maize sells for N22,000 against N24,000 previously.

Tawa Ahmed, a food seller at the market, attributed the fall in the prices of foodstuffs to the ongoing harvest of farm produce.

“Usually, prices of foodstuffs come down at this period of harvest but by the end of October, there may be slight changes in the prices when harvest of crops draw to a close,” Mrs. Ahmed said.

On the contrary, however, Taye Babatunde, a foodstuff distributor at Oja Tuntun, noted that the price of beans had remained high in the last few months as a bag of white beans sells for N40,000 while a plastic measure costs N650.

Mrs. Babatunde said that a bag of sweet beans, which was formerly sold for N25,000 and a plastic measure for N700, now costs N30,000 and N750 respectively.

At Igbonna market in Osogbo, a bag of brown beans attracts N33,000, as against the initial price of N29,000 while a plastic measure, which formerly cost N600 now costs N700.

Meanwhile, Moses Oladipupo, the Vice President of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Osun, said that the newly-harvested crops had triggered 50 per cent drop in the prices of foodstuff generally in markets in the state.

Mr. Oladipupo noted that most of the food crops being harvested were planted between March and June.

He expressed optimism that the prices of foodstuff would further drop in the course of the harvest period.

Also commenting, Ganiyu Awojobi, the AFAN Chairman in Ife East Local Government, concurred that the prices of foodstuff would further decline as the harvest progressed.

He, however, argued that it harvested and made available in the market, their prices would drop in line with the law of demand and supply.

In Ekiti, respondents said they were excited over the evident fall in the prices of foodstuff and their availability in the market.

A farmer, Jide Ogunyemi, in Ikere Ekiti, said that farmers were actually relieved of the hardship associated with the ailing economy, saying that they would not relent in their efforts to sustain the trend.

Mr. Ogunyemi, however, said that the state government needed to do more in the area of providing the enabling environment as well as incentives for farmers to further encourage them.

He told NAN that many farmers in the state still lacked access to agricultural inputs and cash support to enable them to expand and maintain their farms.

The peasant farmer noted that most of them would want to be equipped with agricultural skills, equipment and facilities, including storage, marketing and distribution of farm produce.

In Kwara, the newly harvested crops also made some positive impact on the prices of foodstuff, as revealed in the NAN survey.

For instance, in Baruten Local Government Area of the state, a measure of maize, which sold for N6,000 before, now costs N4,000 while six big tubers of yam now cost N2,000 as against N5 000 before the harvest period.

However, the price of Guinea corn remained high as the crop was not yet due for harvest hence, one basin of Guinea corn sells for N6,000 as against N5,000 in May.

A pepper seller who identified herself as ‘Iya Ramota Alata’, said that pepper had also witnessed price reduction as a bag of long pepper sells for between N6,500 and N7,000 as against N8,000 sold in May.

She also said that the price of onion had also dropped with the arrival of the newly harvested commodity.

According to her, a bag of white onion now sells for between N18,000 and N20,000 while the red onion sells for N15,000 to N18,000.

Kayode Ehindero, the Chairman, Agriculture and Allied Employees Union (AAEU) in Kwara, attributed the drop in commodity prices to good harvest.
