Travel / Re: Nigerian Navy Destroys Ancestral Homes In Ilashe by Ayomaine: 6:29pm On Jan 15, 2020
Ilashevanguard:
The beautiful tourist beach destination of Ilashe has worn a mournful look this past week because of a seemingly illegal demolition exercise being conducted by the Nigerian Navy.

Age long residents of these strips of island have been asked to vacate from the land they have called home. The same place many were born and for some a retirement abode until when their life light dims.

The questions on the lips of many is, how do we start afresh?

What the government did was really awful and heartrending tbvh... they went ahead with this action without proper notice... honestly, I've never been stark raving mad and devastated like this. how can you render people who are endemic to the community internally displaced just like that. it's really painful because my great grandparents n grandparents settled there.. my family and I usually go there to celebrate with our kinfolks during festive periods ever since I was a child and it's always been peaceful until the navy started raiding from time to time.. unfortunately, not everyone who owns a house there is involved in vandalism. our structures were built solely based on hard work, now the government has destroyed everything.. Demolition of innocent people properties isn't the way forward for goodness sake let alone a plausible reason for whatever they say it is. Justice must prevail for us because the government just can't wake up one day and decide to wreak havoc on its citizenry. it's never heard of.
