Can you help me out on starting out, pricing etc. I'm a uni student in Ghana and wish to start a crochet handbag business here. .I'm very serious about buying all the necessary materials and starting something. I'm ready to learn and make a little money as I'm a very creative person. What's your Fb and IG name? tatacherie: |

Hi guys, how will you answer to the question...why is your uncle sponsoring you and not your parents? Note: parents are financially sound. |

Hey guys, I know this thread is for students and persons wanting admission into American schools but since I'm also a Uni student on a Summer Work and Travel (J1 exchange visitor visa), I'll still post and get some feedback. I was interviewed last month on the 18th in Ghana but I was DENIED. Awaiting my next interview on the 8th. The questions asked by the consular were:??- 1)Where do you work - I'm a student, 2)where are you going to - I'm going to Minneapolis in Minnesota, 3)what's the company I'll be working for - target field, 4)do you know anyone in the states - yes a relative who is my uncle, 5)where does he stay - ohio, 6)will you go visit him - I dont think so(i repeated twice cuz he seemed not to have heard or maybe was giving me a chance to change... I really don't know), 7)are you married -no I'm not, do you have kids - no, ![]() 9)He also asked what I read in school and I said , I'm pursuing a 4yr bachelor's degree program in IT. He denied me. Where did I go wrong here? Please help me assess this. Is it because of how I answered or the fact that he thinks I lied about not knowing if I'll visit my uncle? I felt my answers were too brief. |

Spotlighte: I support this 100% If anyone or even almost every one in school now is able to share, it would be awesome to go along this journey with you. With pictures, awkward situations, cultural shock, accent adaptation etc. All the best to everyone on this thread! 1 Like |

SexyDuby: Sorry I couldn't post yesterday, I was exhausted to the bone So here it goes : I must say I enjoyed the process so much though tiring from all the queuing. I'm in Ghana, 23 and a student. Straight DENIAL! This whole idea of visiting the US was from my parents. I won't lie I doubted I stood a chance after going through people's experiences but I had already done a lot and was only awaiting my interview day. I was positive all the same because my intentions were good. I thank God all the same . Interview day I woke up around 4 or 4:30am I don't remember because my mum woke me up while I was just trying to enjoy my sleep. So fast forward to 6am when I and parents reached the embassy. First timer, completely lost and confused. I asked a personnel what I had to do before my 7:30 appointment and he told me to hang around a tree where I saw lots of people standing and waiting. I went ahead and stood there for a while till some police officer asked those who had their interview to form a queue. I did go through the checks etc it was already past 7:30 and I was already waiting my turn to be interviewed. I wasn't paying attention to those being interviewed except one pastor who was approved a visa and one university lady who was denied and another guy who was also denied. So after the guy who was denied, I was asked to go to that VO. One chubby guy with beard and in his mid 30's . Honestly he was cool. VO: Hi good morning Me: good morning(cheerfully) how are you? VO: fine thank you (looking at his computer typing) May I have your passport please? Me: sure(smiles) I caughed lightly and said sorry and he said no problem (still typing) he wasn't looking too serious as I said he was cool VO: So why are you going to the US Me: I'd love to spend my long summer break sightseeing and exploring interesting places in the US and also I'll be visiting my uncle VO: typing what I said and even repeating what I said I was smiling (now I know they type our answers for future purposes) Where in the US are you going to? Me: Columbus ,Ohio VO: What do you do? Me: I'm a student of bla bla VO: What course do you offer? Me: I'm a 1st year student pursuing a 4-year degree programme in information technology but I'll be progressing to my 2nd year after the break VO: okay. He nodded still typing. Have you traveled before? Me: No sir. VO: okay. Are you married? Me: I'm very single with a grin VO: looks at me and smiles Okay do you have kids? Me: No sir (smiles) VO: okay. I'm sorry bla bla (y'all know the rest already lol) As he was handing me my passport and the 214b paper I asked wasn't being a student a strong enough tie to return (even though I knew the answer already lol still wanted to know all the same) Surprisingly he suggested another thing for me. Asking if I've heard of the J-1 visa for exchange program to which I nodded and said yes ,that I did plan on applying for that next year and he went ahead to say it'll be the best choice for me as a student and not only would I be able to visit some places in the US but I'll also be able to work (summer work and travel) So I said ok and thank you with a smile and elegantly left the premises to announce the outcome to my mum who was waiting anxiously for some good news. She felt bad but I assured her it's alright and the next time I'll go through with the J-1 visa successfully. So that's it. No docs checked as usual. This forum helped a lot. Kudos to the brains behind it and to those awaiting, all the best. 12 Likes |

This past few weeks I've been moving from one article to another in search of tips, success stories and even bad experiences on getting an approved US B2 visa. Look, reading is very important and can be of great help if you really seek some help. Some Africans are lazy when it comes to researching and doing things by them selves and that's how we freak out on the day of accountability. God willing 11th July would be the very first time I'll face the US embassy here in Ghana and I'm doing all I can to go prepared. In fact, from all the rea LadyGuinivere:ding and note taking from this blog and other useful sources, I'm 101% positive I'll ace the interview. God dey! Here are some useful sources for what ever questions you seek answers too, even from former US consuls. I must say it's relieving to know that things work for your own good if only your intentions are as clear as water. From all I've read, all they really seek is honesty and it's up to you to convince them . Check these out: https://www.quora.com/Do-visa-officers-have-your-information-before-the-interview https://www.quora.com/As-a-visa-officer-what-do-you-wish-applicants-knew http://travelwahala.com/blog/ https://www.quora.com/Does-the-US-Embassy-pre-decide-whether-to-approve-a-visa-or-not-And-do-the-officers-at-the-Embassy-just-deliver-the-verdict-at-the-interview https://www.quora.com/profile/Caleb-Egwuenu Hope the few links help. All it takes is to google search whatever your question is and it'll give you an answer some how. Let's give the admins a break. Good job all the same Next week by God's grace I'll post my testimony 4 Likes 1 Share |

seyewest: Alright thank you I'll have to create a new ds160 |

seyewest: Thank you for the reply I'm actually ghanaian and I'm aware the us embassy does not issue passport But I just wanted to know if they had direct contact with the passport office to know who and who came in to apply for a passport Truthful my interview is in 12 days and on my ds160 I ticked no to my passport being missing because on one forum I did inquiries on stated that they refuse people with stolen passports. In my case it was never even used that's why I'm asking |

OmoBendel24:Ermmm what's that? |

Hello I wanted to ask if the US embassy collects the database of passport office to know people who apply for a passport. Do they have any knowledge on that? Say you had a passport you never used but it got misplaced, will they no even if you don't disclose it? Waiting for an answer Thank you |
