ok, going to a restaurant for a date (1st, 2nd or 3rd) is not bad. concentrating on the food instead of your date is the problem. a friend once asked a girl out on a date, when he showed up at her house, she started drilling him on which restaurant they were going. it was pathetic. |

Celebrities / D’banj Is The Reason Why They Don’t Know My Name” Dr. SID by babzace(m): 11:39am On Oct 14, 2012 |
Just when we were thinking the D’banj-Don Jazzy saga was ending, yet another controversy has come up- this time former Mo’Hits-now-MAVIN records act Dr SID plays the leading role in the ‘never-ending’ movie. A secret recording which has leaked will stir up more controversies and give us a little more insight as to why the former ‘supergroup’ broke up with bosses – D’banj and Don Jazzy parting ways. Dr SID in the recording, obtained exclusively by NET, is heard talking in a rather upset tone about how his former label boss D’banj’s personality was over-shining his and the rest of the crew members. ‘Why don’t they know my name? Because your brand and star is too much it is overshadowing‘, Dr SID angrily said. Wande Coal however had another opinion; he argued back and forth with Dr SID, explaining that it was D’banj that actually brought them to the limelight. ‘Guuuy, it’s not that, D’banj can help anybody, ….If not for D’banj nobody would have looked at Wande, guy I dey lie? Men, I don’t know‘, Wande argued back. Not convinced, Dr SID argues ‘Batman and Robin, who them dey call? Na D’banj na. D’banj did more negative than positive for my career‘. The date of the recording is not known but sources close to the camp say it is just a few weeks old. ‘It is a well known fact that Dr SID and D’banj have been having inside brawls even though he (D’banj) was the one that dragged him into Mo’Hits back then‘, a source close to the MAVIN camp tells us in anonymity. Several sources insist Dr SID was one of the persons who engineered the Mo’Hits split. ‘He wanted to always be as big as D’banj. Wande was content as the fan favourite, D’Prince is okay as long as his elder brother makes the money‘, our source continues. SID and D’banj reportedly clashed severally during the Mo’Hits years. NET has also gathered that all doesn’t seem to be well in the MAVIN camp; with Wande Coal allegedly telling close friends that his boss Don Jazzy might not have the financial capacity required to carry the group. But donating N2m to cancer patient Funmi Lawal weeks back, amongst other philanthropic gestures, would make anyone perish the thought of the possibility of the producer being broke. NOTE: Dr SID reached out to indicate it was Davido, not Wande Coal, as originally reported. dailypost.com.ng/2012/10/14/dbanj-reason-dont-know-name-leaked-conversation-davido-dr-sid/ |
Nairaland / General / UNIPORT Killings: Community Counts Losses After Students’ Rampage by babzace(m): 5:03pm On Oct 11, 2012 |
University of Port Harcourt embarked on reprisals to avenge the killings of their colleagues. The angry students had on Tuesday stormed the community, burnt some houses, cars and other property over the torture and murder of the students on Friday. Four undergraduates of UNIPORT were lynched by a mob comprising members of the community for allegedly stealing laptop computer and a BlackBerry phone. The students were Biringa Chiadika of the Theatre Arts Department; Ugonna Obuzor of Geology Department, Mike Toku Llyod of Civil Engineering Department and Tekena Erikena. When our correspondent visited the community on Wednesday, few of the indigenes were seen bemoaning their losses. One of the leaders of the community, Sunday Ahanonu, said he had lost all he laboured for to the students’ reprisals. Ahanonu, whose house was torched by the students, expressed shock that security agents could not stop the rampaging students when they stormed the community. Sixty-five-year-old Ahanonu and father of 15 children, worked at UNIPORT for 35 years before he retired. He appealed to the state government and the management of the university to compensate him for the destruction of his property, adding that he and members of his family were not involved in the killings of the students. Ahanonu said, “I am a retired civil servant. I worked with UNIPORT for 35. But all I have achieved for many years have been destroyed by students from the university. I don’t know where my family and I will lay our heads when my only house has been burnt. “I lost the sum of N850,000 cash, which I kept in my house. I could not take the money to the bank because I was not feeling okay and went to the hospital. It was at the hospital that I learnt that my house was burnt by the students.” Also, a woman, who identified herself as Pauline Nwakwo, told our correspondent that she left the village when she learnt that security agents had embarked on mass arrest, but came back to notice that her bar had been burgled. According to her, the rampaging students forcibly entered her bar and carried away her deep freezer and drinks. She said, “As a woman, I had to run away when we noticed that the police were embarking on mass arrest. The students broke the door to my bar and took away a deep freezer I bought for N66,000. I want government to pay me back all I have lost. “The students were killed far from here at the Burrow pit. We don’t know anything about the killings of the students.” Indigenes of the community were also seen leaving their homes in droves to other places in order to avoid being attacked by the students. One of them, who gave her name as Comfort, said she was relocating her children to Elele in Rivers State and would only return to Omuokiri Aluu whenever normalcy returns. An artisan, Mr. Wisdom Ajuwon, who repairs home appliances along the Omuokiri Aluu Road, said he lost property worth about N500,000 to the riotous students. Showing a list of what he lost to the fire ignited by students, Ajuwon also appealed to the state government to come to his aid. A cleric in the area, Pastor John Paul, described the situation in the community as terrible, adding that people were running out of their homes like refugees www.punchng.com/news/uniport-killings-community-counts-losses-after-students-rampage/ |
Politics / Nigeria First Lady's Trip Home Is Canceled by babzace(m): 3:48pm On Oct 11, 2012 |
By SaharaReporters, New York The highly anticipated return trip to Nigeria of the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has again been canceled by her hospital in Germany. A source at the hospital said Mrs. Jonathan could not be discharged to leave today as was requested by her husband because there are still several unresolved issues concerning her health. SaharaReporters was unable to determine what those issues are, but it seems obvious that her condition is still poor. Only a few days ago, however, the presidency, through spokesman Reuben Abati, said she was in good health. Commenting on a three-second video allegedly shot recently when her husband visited her, in which she was shown to be well-dressed, he said, “You can see that the setting does not resemble that of a hospital. She is hale and hearty.” Her doctors evidently do not share that view, and no new date has been given as to when Mrs. Jonathan, who is also a Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State, will leave Germany. She has now been away for six weeks |

Kobojunkie: @Poster, the reason such things happen is because these people let it. No one can come into your own house to insult you or your family unless you let them. This is true everywhere on the planet you find yourself. So maybe you should instead ask your friend why he/she allows it. I mean that man(uncle) must have been given so much allowance for him to go as far as to beat the child in front of the parents.beating the child in the parent's presence is one thing. The most amazing thing was when the woman shouted her husband down because he told her brother that the beating was enough |

I was at a friends house this morning. An uncle of their's came to visit and the youngest child who was 8 was sent by her mum to get her uncle water. On her way back, tripped and spilled the water. Suddenly the uncle started beating her and calling her stupid, spoilt and careless. Worst of all was that all these happened when my friends dad was sitting there. When he asked his inlaw to stop his wife brought down hell saying he was spoiling the children and they deserve adequate purnishment. It was awkward and tense. Seriously people is this right? |
