Are you sure Diamond has a MM?
Stanbic is their primary market maker while fsdh is their supplemental market maker. See the links to all the market markers and their stock of coverage below.

The point is that market making is dormant for now as most of these firms suffered huge losses immediately they got the mm license.

You don't think that some companies has stockbroking firm, while some has representative, also with lesser commission charged.
Have you ever asked, who are the men in black?, minus market makers some stocks will not be where they are today.
With experience from this market, I believed that Diamond bank don't joke when it come in defending their stock, let's watch, coming week will surprise you, and also add some experience to your data base.

Anything that will happen next week is going to be in line with market dictates.

Diamond will reverse when buyers think it has taken enough beating and not because there is one market maker or men in black somewhere.

The market markers will not allow their bank to suffer, don't be surprise seeing Diamond bank price ahead of Fidelity bank before this month end.
Their price might not go below 1.75 or 1.80, as far as their co competitors FCMB and Fidelity stays around 2.4 and 2.5, Diamond will stii catch up with them.
Diamond bank might touch 2 next week.
Market making is more on paper than practice in this market.

The market makers are stockbrokers that are in business to make money. They do not have any grant or free funds to make market or defend price.

After someone here had repeatedly posited that the price of Dangote Flour is been manipulated, I decided to follow thru with some investigation yesterday.
...and YES I can now confirm without an iota of dispute that the stock is indeed been manipulated.
Let me leave out my findings for yesterday since that is currently still under some investigation.
But here's what happened this morning;
Precisely at between 9.16- 9.20 am, the very 1st 5 to 6 trades that were executed on DF were done at trades of N11.50, N12 and N12.05. ...It opened at N11.50, went up to a high N12 and N12.05 before dropping back to N12.
...and since these trades were done at above the bulk of 50,000 units which is required for any stock above N5 (category B stocks) to capture the high and low intraday prices, N12.05 thus became the day high, while N12 became the day low as at the time.
I personally saw these trades myself on the morgancapital platform. ...they were actually the 1st 5 to 6 totalling a little above 600,000 units in volume.
But all of a sudden, the high and low of the trades were pulled off.
On noticing this I immediately put out a call to the current CEO of Morgancapital, Sir Muyiwa. ...there and then he also confirm my observations as explained and even confirmed that some of the aforementioned trades were done by customers of Morgancapital.
...so why was the said trades taken down? he would'nt know, but assured me he'll get to the route of this and get back to me. I am still on with him, but meanwhile my simple advise is this;
If u own this coy (DF), don't sell. Take it or leave it, the price is currently been manipulated.

...more revert in due course.

Confirmation bias playing out here.

Absolutely appreciate your analysis here, but not this one.

No one is manipulating anything. While it is not impossible to manipulate Alhaji's stock, the broker community is well aware of the implications of such move.

They've tried it with Cement before and he used someone as a scapegoat. And in this particular case, anyone could pull that stunt to move the price limit up because it could be done with few volumes and to spur a reversal.

His stockbrokers are on both sides of the order book and it is possible that they are the ones that moved it to 12.05.

zamirikpo:

Seconded.

In fact the dollar spike in 2015 was fuelled by the massive hoarding of hard currency by polithiefians, caused by the uncertainty of a new govt.

Remember how many homes Dss raided and recovered hard currency...

What are you seconding? Someone just puts up some cut and nail self serving analysis to deny the reality on ground and you are seconding him?

The dollar rally against the naira was purely an oil price story and nothing more. The hoarding and trading shenanigans that followed were off of that event.

Oil closed below 40 dollars in 2015 and that was the reason why your naira lost ground, speculators were emboldened by this fact and they wrecked the naira.

If you expect the naira to plunge, the play shouldn't be locking in high rates but to buy dollars. In his self serving analysis up there, he said oil prices are not sustainable without noting what America would do on May 12. That aside, how much is our fx debt? What is our external reserve? Is our demand for fx going to increase or decrease? Are foreigners going to exit before elections or not?

When you put everything together, the odds are definitely in favour of a loosely stable naira.

Issa blowout.

If not for the ref that didn't call the goal-tending block, it would have been the end of the road for the Cavs tonight.

I doubt if the Pacers can beat the in game 7, especially that they'll be playing at the arena.

That was how the dodged the Bulls last playoffs by coming second because they Bulls swept them in the regular season.
Sports / Re: The NBA Begins by BBFE: 3:17am On Apr 23, 2018
I think combining both conferences to select the top 16 and matching them like we have now (1 and 2 play 16 and 15 respectively) would guide against having a very weak team making the finals because they won a weak conference.

In my opinion, I do not see this Cavs side going past game 5 with the Jazz or the Wolves.

There is no problem scoring 23 of the 60 points as a PF but having the highest assists of 4 so far when the PG has only shows a team that is strategically deficient.

A lot of cleveland players and pacers players haven't played well in this series.

Pacers is the weakest team in the East this season. It is the Cavs that are the worst performers in the playoffs so far given their pedigree

Sports / Re: The NBA Begins by BBFE: 3:13am On Apr 21, 2018
The Celtics would have been the undisputed champion in the east given the great system Stevens have built there but injuries dealt them a blow. IT left and he got a better replacement in Kyrie.

What did Tyronn do? He brought IT to replicate his MVP level performance at the Garden in the Arena forgetting that too many all stars spoil the party. What is Tyronn known for, I have Lebron. The sixers, raptors, celtics all have a system and they bring in players that fits it.

The Cavs should go and learn how to trust the process from the sixers. Having the highest player turnover in a season for a team that is not changing their system of play goes to tell how aimless the Cavs have been.
