My dear sister am speaking from experience. We have been lucky so far in my family. My younger sister who is 34 lives with d condition. She is married with a child. We have lived the 34yrs in so much fear.Every hospital visit is a nightmare for US.She asks my mum now and again why did you have me after 4kids.You don't wish for a child to confront you with such! Weda there is a procedure that checks for the genotype of a foetus exists or not...it's Not worth the gamble. Walk away from it now.EXCEPT you are willing to marry and not bear kids. It's well with you. 6 Likes |

I will suggest you visit the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in the State you reside. You will pick up an adoption form there. But what you are filling in will be PRIVATE Adoption as against the usual adoption process. The requirements are behind the form. You will need serious follow.up to hasten the process. The court seats more often this days for such cases than we had time past. All the best |

OmoBendel24: Thanks Omobendel24 for your response. Trust me before doing my application early last year, i did read every page and i must mention here that all what i did and know today that helped me secure my own visa was from reading up from page 1 on this topic and forum. I am sure i need to go back a few more pages to keep abreast of different scenarios! Summer here we go! God bless you all. |

Jawa: Thanks Jawa for taking your time out to respond.I really appreciate. You are quiet right I did not put so much into drafting the statement/purpose of trip.Infant when I referred back to it yesterday I could not believe what I submitted. I will just apply for the GCMS notes as advice. Finally would you or anyone here know if one can apply while visiting the states on vacation? We called yesterday and they said yes frim NY which is closest to where I usually visit. But I am a bit skeptical one may get there now and they will say go and apply from your home country..... Thanks once again. |

Morning gurus in the house. Believe we all had a restful weekend. I have a situation here and i would appreciate your candid advice from those who have some knowledge or those who has/had someone in the same situation; I applied for a visitors visa early last year as a single mom of one but i did not apply for my 4year old at that point as i felt leaving him out of the application will show that i had a good reason to come back home (sort of like an home tie). I was granted a 2yr multiple entry and travelled for the period i stated i was going to be away for which was a month. Fast forward to this year, i applied in march this year (paper route) for my son towards the summer break but got a refusal last week. I actually thought it will be like US where once a parent had their visa its almost 100% chance the children get theirs also. I know Canada can be tough! Reasons for refusal )travel history/purpose of visit and tie in Canada and Nigeria. Would appreciate if someone advice what to do going forward. |

@Mummyf Yes I do have travel history to US which I honestly thinks helped me a lot as I bombarded them with so many pages of boarding passes in d application. But from my experience and read up.of over the years it's not still a Gauranty. Best of Luck |

For the record again, i am really skeptical about this online application. I have colleagues here at the office whom we all submitted at the same period and 2 are yet to receive any response till date. The individual who heard from them just recently was refused and they marked Travel History Alone as reason for for the denial. Which gave everyone so much concern as he scanned 20 pages of all sort of Visas and stamps of Europe and US trips and courses(am talking of the double pages which meant 2 pages was counted as 1 page). This was so worrisome and made one wonder if the documents where ever downloaded and viewed at all! The mail said it was processed in ghana. It seems online apps are now being sent anywhere for processing now. Cant recall where i read that. I have read and over read stuffs in my quest. Thank God it inally paid off. Just my thought! |

Hello All Just to share the good news of my visa approval with the house. I have been reading several forums on the Canadian application for ages and was glad when the '' canada visit/touurist thread started not too long ago. I submitted my application paper route on the 3rd of March and received the mail for pick up on the 22nd of April here in Abuja. To God be the glory i was given a 2yr multiple entry. This was my 2nd attempt and the 1st was sometime in 2012. Thank you to those that made contributions and responded to my questions in the past. |
Travel / Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by beekie(f): 11:28am On Jan 07, 2015 |
Thanks so much VO for your speedy response to all of my questions. This is a case of a mother filling for a daughter. The case was filed in 2008 and we recently heard from the NVC asking for submission of some documents. I am supporting my mum in putting the said documents/requirement together for my younger sister. I would like if you could take time out to respond to the following questions to allow me know the next steps to take; Mum’s due for her naturalization interview any moment from now, I want to know if that has any effect on my sister’s case? Is it advisable at this point to add my sister’s husband in the form we are filling as she got married 2years ago? I ask this as we wouldn’t want any delay whatsoever in her case. In light of the highlighted response above, please be informed that the petition for my sister above was put in when she was young and now she is married, the reason why i asked if we could now include the husband in the forms we are requested to submit. BUT do we envisiage a problem with the petition now that she is married or what, as am not so clear why you mentioned that Mum cannot file for her until she becomes a citizen. But if this is the case,do we put a halt to submitting the required documents as requested by NVC even though mum is still a PR and yet to naturalize or we just go ahead and see where this takes us. OR is there an adjustment that can be made? Finally, if mum cant file for her now till she becomes a citizen, will a new petition have to be made entirely? Thanks much for your time. |

Happy new year good people. My 6 weeks daughter is always staring at the ceiling. Should i be bothered or ignore it. She even smiles while staring atimes, it is kinda scary. Please for now i feel this is very normal. But there is no harm in mentioning your concern in your next hospial visit which i believe you are due for. 1 Like |

Dear VO, compliments of the season and i hope you had a good break. This is a case of a mother filling for a daughter. The case was filed in 2008 and we recently heard from the NVC asking for submission of some documents. I am supporting my mum in putting the said documents/requirement together for my younger sister. I would like if you could take time out to respond to the following questions to allow me know the next steps to take; 1. Who fills the DS 260 form? The Petitioner or the Beneficiary 2. Since my mum has not engaged in payed employment for sometime now, can my elder brother who mum lives with and a US Citizen be the sponsor or Co sponsor despite the fact he recently submitted his petition for a fiancée visa this same December without causing any delay whatsoever in the entire process? 3. Mum’s due for her naturalization interview any moment from now, I want to know if that has any effect on my sister’s case? 4. Can mum submit property and other proof of income outside USA as part of ‘’Proof of Assets’’ which comes under the checklist of documents to be submitted? Can her Pension and income from us the other kids count as proof and evidence of income? 5. Is it advisable at this point to add my sister’s husband in the form we are filling as she got married 2years ago? I ask this as we wouldn’t want any delay whatsoever in her case. 6. Finally in filling the DS 260 form, the requirements are having a NVC case number, an invoice ID and a Beneficiary ID number ? the first 2 i have and know, please how do i know what the beneficiary ID id cos am thinking we may have that already. If not, when or how do i go about securing one? Do have a pleasant week ahead of you. |

@ant She doesn't have to be on bed rest and she should get cervical length u/s every two weeks Dear Dr Kathy, Been reading past posts to see anything,i mean anything at all similar to what happened to my preg of 20wks.and i did find one which was 22wks with sudden burst of the membrane and all.above is a response u gave in one of your replies.Cervical lenght u/s?does that u/s mean ultra sound? To be honest with you,i know i should dwelling more on the solution rather than the problem. But how do i know the solution when i dont seem to know the problem? I saw another Dr yesterday in another clinic and he said he would not conclude on saying i had a weakness of the Cervix because of how the miccarriage occured. He said a miscarriage would be more sudden with the condition rather than the process of going into labour that happened in my case. But that if i felt okay with the Cerclage all well and good which of course i will certainly go for to be on the safe side. And again he's running all sorts of tests to eliminate infections,High Bp and the rest. My fear again is this issue of infections after the cerclage has been put into place. Is there anything that can be done or given to avoid such infections?it used to be fear of Labour, now have seen that.i think anyone can bear it if one looks at the outcome but now it's fear of getting preg and a reoccurence! Thanks so much4 ur much anticipated response and time! |

Hi Dr, I would really love your opinion on this even though yours will be the 4th. I had a miscarriage on the 8th of this month and that same day was the day i was 20wks i.e 5mnths. The whole thing started first with severe pains in my lower abdomen and a sleepless night which when i went to the clinic, a scan was carried out and i was told baby was ok and all. Then another night of cramps and then i started spotting.By morning i was in labour and nothing could be done to stop the baby coming. The Dr concluded it was a weak cervix, by the time i went to my own Dr some days later as i was not in town, he concluded on the same thing and that an earlier Dc i had was the cause of that, The 3rd Dr says that a weak cervix will not carry a preg up to 5mnths! Well, to be honest, am so scraed of taking in again. Been told that a procedure called 'Cervical Cerclage' will be carried out next time once am 12wks-13wks. My worry and question now is that, what do u think might have been the cause? Could one DC have caused this and what are the chances of carrying a baby to full term with the procedure being recommended? Thanks as i await your response, |
