I love yo responses! Sum will just start throwing insult wen tagged "jobless" kip it up wink

But, are you really jobless? Oya knee down let pray grin

Thanks jare. Better person. There is no need wasting time insulting people. It's foolishness and it builds up negative energy in you and stresses you out. The body doesn't need all that. The current state of Nigeria is stressful enough and I don't need anything else to stress me out.

Okay. I am on my knees, Pastoress. Abeg don't bath me with spit. The last time a pastor prayed for me na so so spit him just dey pour for my body. grin

naijaboiy:
Alternate moniker mr belloggs. I appreciate your effort in airing out your displeasure about the nature of this year's wooing challenge. However, I think you could have done it in the thread which I created for the rules. Everything concerning this contest should be discussed there after all I made it clear that anyone who had anything to say should state it clearly.

Nevertheless, I will reply your opinion here. First and foremost there is nothin like authoritarianism like you stated because Nairaland is a free place and nobody can laud it over another except you chose to be lauded over. The rules formulated have been in existence albeit in an implied manner, only the new method of wooing is the modification we made. Now let me explain why that was so.

If you are very conversant with this contest like you claimed you will agree with me that the controversy which took place at the last female edition was nothing to write home about. I, who also happened to be he host that year was left in a state of confusion and bewilderment. This was due to the fact that one of the men who was wooed decided to pick the two women that wooed him and the conflict after that was not funny at all.

After everything the whole blame was somehow transferred to me for my inability to state the rules clearly before the contest and my incompetency was what led to the confusion. Following from that event I decided to make things more organized in the hope that the same people who asked me to state the rules will be happy with the new development but instead I'm getting a reprisal in return.

I'm glad you understand why the new method was put into test. In life we have to always try new things and see if they will work, that's why we did this and definitely there must be people who do not agree with the changes until they see its usefulness. Surely, if this system doesn't work we'll definitely go back to the old system but so far it doesn't seem like what is really bad.

Lastly, it's good you understand that it's a game and so it cannot be likened to the actual way you do things in real life. But then, who said you can't woo a woman anonymously and win her heart in real life? Check again. smiley

Thanks.

I am not opposing the one winner system. That is okay by me. And it's good you stated it. The only modification in the rules that I am not okay with is the anonymous system of wooing. And I believe that's what I only opposed in my earlier post.

Yes in life we should always embrace change and be open to new ideas, but not every change is good. Take Nigeria for instance. grin

One concept that is crucial to the longevity of lots of popular brands in the world is continuity. Sticking to what drew the initial attraction and continuing it in. A little modification is made along the way, but they still adhere to what makes them what they are.
The open system of wooing is what makes the wooing challenge what it is. If you take that away, then it's no more the wooing challenge and you might as well call it something else.

Well, I hope your new approach yields good fruits of fun and excitement, because that's what the wooing challenge is all about.

I would like to use this opportunity to address the issue of the forced implementation of new set of rules to guide this edition of the wooing contest by the host, Naijaboiy and his assistant, Oliviaarims. I would like to say, that this move to deviate from the normal process of wooing and super imposition of new laws, is a gross display of authoritarianism, massive abuse of power and sheer negligence and disregard for the will of the people. grin

The wooing challenge was created primarily for fun, but when you take away what makes it fun, you slowly kill interest.
In as much as your decision to have the lines sent to you prior to the event proper was a means to eliminate partiality, you have to understand that it's things like this that generate controversy and controversy creates fun and fosters interest.

You should know that there are people who would like to drop their lines in their own preferred fonts and styles that are unique to them, but when you present every line the same way, it just makes the whole thing boring and basic. It makes it seem like you are trying to copy Tashaamania and Luxanne's dry couple's show. grin

The fact that everyone knows who is dropping the lines creates anxiety and anticipation and this things are what makes the show interesting. The wooing contest celebrates participation, but with your new rules, it's more or less just a Naijaboiy and Oliviaarims show, where you guys drop the lines and the girl chooses. There is a reason it's called a Wooing contest. You don't woo a girl you like anonymously. It makes you seem like a weakling. You woo her confidently. One on one. In her face. You woo her like a man, not like some high school geek who writes a letter and asks his cool friend to give it to his crush. grin

Just few hours after your new rule was presented, 4 wooers have already opted out, all because they aren't comfortable with the new process.
Please rethink this decision and go back to the way it was done in previous editions.

Anyway, you are doing a good job Naijaboiy, keep up the good work. And please note that this is just a peaceful protest, not one aimed at jeopardizing the work you have done.

I rest my case. cool
