Normally, Your sister can be sponsored while in canada with dependant outside Canada, once approved the dependant outside Canada would submit passport for immigrant visa to join them in canada. However, a child is considered to be a dependent if they are under 22 years old and are not married or in a common-law relationship. A child over the age of 22 will be considered a dependent if they suffer from a physical or mental condition that prevents them from being able to support themselves.

If she applies one or two months before he turns 22, does that still count? I read something about age lock-in, which means when application is made before 22, it does not affect the dependent even if he turns 22 before a decision has been made on the application. Please how true is this?

Hello guys, I’d love to ask a question and I will appreciate if someone responds. My sister got a VV, and she will be leaving to Canada in January. She is to get married to her spouse over there so as to sponsor her for PR. Is it possible for her spouse to sponsor her and her son while she’s in Canada and her son is here in Nigeria? Her Spouse is a Canadian citizen. Her son will be 22 next year April
