Hi everyone,

I am sorry if this has been tackled in earlier posts.

My younger sister is scheduled to have her interview to visit for my graduation in few days. The young lady did not fill the previous work experience part of the DS-160 form - didn't put in her NYSC and subsequent volunteer position before current full employment. As the ceremony is just a month away, I am skeptical about her cancelling the interview for another date. Is there anyway round this? I read somewhere that you can fill a new form and let the Visa Officer know about it at the interview. I'll appreciate an urgent response.

Thanks!

Need not fret, she can fill a new form, call the embassy to update the new form on her current appointment/date.
014406218 (she must do so at least 48hours before her interview date)

kudos Beniyoha01,
what advice can you give her? she has a good job here in Nigeria, she is missing the children and she thinks is economically wise for her to visit them than for them to visit her in Nigeria, she's considering the cost. Truly, the children are living with their father in the states.
pls, advice

She could reapply BUT......

*Not anytime soon
*Say the truth... she should be ready to let the VO's know she lied at the previous interview (Worse is a denial not a death penalty)
*She should concentrate more on displaying her ties back home
*Show no sign of desperation

Thanks Beniyoha01,
After several questions about the children and well answered
She said:
VO: Are your children living alone
She: No, with their uncle
VO: Pardon?
She: with their uncle
VO : (returned her passport and a denied letter)
NB: the children are still students

Thanks

Apparently, this is how she made herself seem before the vo....

*The children eloped to stay with their uncle
*The mother is planning to elope to join the kids

She represented a flight risk and the vo cant waste more time in making that decision to deny her.
I can bet she already earned herself a big question mark on her profile with the embassy and she'll have to considerably prove to the vo that she's genuine and harbor no illegal immigrant intent.

Hello house,
You guys are rendering great help on this page, I have a sister that has 3 children in the US and the 3 children have their Green Card (Legal Permanent Residence) they invited her and she was denied yesterday 11/04/'16, and she want to reapply because she want to celebrate her 3rd child's birthday coming up in May together with them in the States. My question now are:
1. Can any of these children invite her again?
2. She observed unpleasant reaction when she told the interviewer that the children are living with their uncle, now can she say the children are living with their father (her ex/divorced husband)?

Please, your advice is highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Whew! Nigerians sha... we always see the need to lie at any juncture.
and you know what... The Vo's have trained how to decipher.

She already lied, Now she wanna say the truth and by so doing she will get in some more lies across.
Truth is, tell her to go chill for now. To the above bolded... do you really think the VO is that gullible and ignorant to believe that contraption?
You can keep that in your mind while she goes to pay for another MRV.

You already sat on the hot-plate before you saw the stool... Don't think of reapplying soon, you already misrepresented and you need to show and also prove to the consular that your life has changed and you truly regret your actions by using an agent. Don't ever try to use a lie to cover a lie (That's the Nigerian way).

I'm going to the US to visit a friend. He said there is no reqirement that one should hold a particular amount of money while coming. In fact he said I should just hold like $500 in case of any need to buy something during the layover. Please I want to know if not having a particular amount of money as a visitor can put one into problem at the airport here and POE over there? Those who have been to the US can help shed light on this. Thanks

There's no US immigration law that states so... but we've heard of POE official demanding such.

Thanks for your advice and notice

I actually want to go on vacation and definitely I do want to acquire more knowledge in my field if I am invited to a reasonable conference in Information Systems..

I hope this is not a second thought... Anyways, you can do just that, but mind you have to be currently working as an Information System professional or currently studying it. Both of which i don't think you are currently doing.

Hello House, pls I need advice on the best option to take. Below is my story.
My family (hubby, myself and 2 kids then) applied for a B1/B2 visa which was granted in 2012. We did not get to use it as I became pregnant and it was high risked and so flying was not allowed. A month after giving birth hubby was sent on cross posting and my family was again granted with L1/L2 visa. We all relocated to Houston in 2013. We have been vacationing in Nigeria once annually as part of the transfer package. Now hubby has been transferred back to Africa with Nigeria as our base. We intend to travel for the summer vacation and so I renewed our initial B1/B2 in January via Dropbox except my last baby. Because the visa he has is L2. I have applied for his B1/B2 visa and picked a date for his interview. My problem is I just discovered that I am pregnant and I will like to give birth in the US. My question is do I take my son for his interview and disclose my intention as I have already contacted my doctor and hospital and funding is not a problem. Or let hubby take him for the interview while I write a letter to the embassy notifying them . I will appreciate your suggestions that will be in the best interest of all as I don't intend to lie.

I'll say you can... @nefertitiram & ladyG are the in-house pro in this area, i'm sure they can throw more light as regards your situation!

Hello house, I am glad to come across this trend. I normally on here to read about things and leave but this time around this trend is targeted at me lol.

I wish to visit US and I have been very careful not to go to US embassy with stupid documents. Let me kindly throw my lil profile

My name is Afeez

Now, I need an advise on how I should prepare myself.. Can I be considered for a visit visa? Can I go for a conferee excuse or should I just say I want to go on vacation. I am single... OR I shouldn't bother to apply for US visit visa.. Please I need an advice.. God bless you all

NOTE: Those who go for conference don't use it as an excuse to get into the US, they use it to acquire professional knowledge, fraternize with people in the same industry, get industry reviews and updates and in turn it adds some professionalism and impetus to their job and general life.

Searching here for what to tell the VO as a reason for your travel to the US already show you don't have any reason being there, if you do... you'll be convinced about it and what it is.

Me sef I apologise retroactively and in future for when I sometimes enter into my 'part time badmouth' I admit I am guilty.

That being said, Let me point out something. Opinions are what we proffer here. In law, one is trained to state that an assertion is his opinion unless it has been established. We also have different means of expression being that we have different backgrounds and perspectives. Bearing this in mind I wish all the readers would just take the opinions and leave any other thing they do not like as chaff.

But me personally sha sha o! I believe that when people become all politically correct the essence of this thread may be lost. Some people (my opinion!) Need extra emphasis to strike a point for example where a person comes here to 'testify' that God helped him get his visa and he told a material untruth during the interview. Or that he's planning to acquire the Bvisa to abscond.
Virture then I believe stands in the middle of civility and ....

Lolz... being politically correct is not exclusive to Obama or the Democrats!
Anyway, Like you have stated we shouldn't loose the purpose of the thread...

Writing in Caps is shouting so your 'ARRANT' is not cool. You also made assumptions and inferred the family reason is to relocate based on the way she stated her case. A whole loads of variables come into play. As par the family vacation application, the possibility of her or the husband not having the basic knowledge about it sure exist. Maybe she just need to be coherent and lucid about her thoughts / situation.

You sincerely have no point... i was just waiting patiently for you to nail me but you couldn't.

* As per the bolded above, The lady asked me for a solution and i stated that, can't i give options again, did i abuse her with that?
* Arrant in my dictionary means (Complete, Utter) i don't know what it means in yours...?
(Maybe you are clouded with the stereotypical use of the word in the phrase "Arrant Nonsense"wink
* When people write in caps and it's regarded as shouting is when a whole phrase or the whole statement was written in caps.
i only wrote one word in caps and i did so for EMPHASIS sake.

Guy, get you life together and leave me outta your misery!

Putting her on a blast to make your point is not the way to go. You also went hard on the baby. Give advise and opinions without throwing punches. You quick to defend frontpagelawyer or something the other day..

It would be cool if you could highlight where i went wrong and who i blasted... i would instantly apologize cos i didnt mean to do such.
i only sought to analysed the case as posed and tried to state why the purpose was flimsy as against LagyG's stands.

If I may weigh in with this shemshem matter. I have a different view.

IMO, I don't think her purpose of traveLling was flimsy. She already has a visa. She was applying for an 11 month baby. Baby was denied under 214b. Meaning baby does not hve ties. I think either the vo just woke up on the wrong side of Timbuku or
Shemshem when u first travelled did u have your baby yet? Did u leave him/her behind?
U know folks always apply alone without kids and leave the lil ones as ties. Then later they go and apply for the lil ones. If I'm not mistaken , u said your husband has a visa abi? And u have 2 other kids? So if u guys decide to abscond and leave the other frown up kids what stops u? Or what if the other 2 kids are fake (all rhetoric questions before u chop me with ur egg and bread cheesy)

The issue (in my opinion as always ) is that the vo does not trust u yourself shemshem. Your family is systematically acquiring visas for y'all and with this economy them dey fear una red eye. U can reapply o! U can use any reason u want o though I would say stick with your former reason if that is indeed your purpose of travel and add all the curry and thyme stories after it. And pray for a vo that believes that you don't intend to run away

I wanted to state just this when i 1st saw her post but i didn't want to be the white egg.... I had same impression that the true motive of the visa was to gradually abscond (Based on the way she posted it). Since she has her visa and have traveled before she could have done a family application for sake of vacation. Taking the baby to see uncle (afterall, baby is too young to recognize uncle) was more like uncle is my hubby or this baby is going and not coming back, uncle will take good care of him/her (and since the VO wasn't privy to her other family members). the argument or sentiment was tenable.

#Flimsy... yea, she's traveled to the US and most likely saw uncle, so the baby was the one going to see uncle this time.... That was arrant FLIMSY! (the baby is too little to recognize uncle, such purpose will only makes sense if uncle is the baby's father)

Gurus in the house I greet you all. My friend got married to an American last two months, here in Lagos, Ikoyi Registry. He has already started processing his papers to join his wife over there. That will take some time.

Now he wants to apply for VISITING VISA, because he is missing his wife.

Please what are his chances of getting the visiting visa? what do you advice please?
Should he go ahead to apply for d visit visa or will that cause problem ?

Thanks for your response

Your friend already has a pending immigrant application, and they will interview him based on that.
Is chances are same as anyone just that the bias of not granting him based on his IV application is overbearing.

Ensure to be elaborate this time... and mind you also KISS (keep it short & simple).

Good day house, please kindly help a sister here.
i have applied in 2015 twice and was not granted the visa.
The first time, I was pregnant and applied with my husband was refused on the ground of the hospital is not good enough in Chicago and the 2nd visa was rufused because it was not up to 3month.
My husband later applied alone and he was granted.
My question is ; I want to apply again with my daughter and my uncle is offering me an invitation letter, he is a pastor and has a church in newyork. Been there for 30years... They Always organise an harvest thanksgiving service every year in the church and he invites people from all over the world. So he suggested he gives me an invititation letter which copies will be sent to the embassy too or should
I just apply for visiting with my daughter
My husband is sponsoring us and I have a good job too.
Please advise thank you.

Besides your travel history, Now i think you look good to go.
*You sincerely wont need the invite.
*Without the invite you can state your purpose of travel to the VO as you analysed it above.
*Let the VO know you are travelling with hubby and baby and if they ask about him, brandish his visa IMMEDIATELY. (That'll seals it)
Go get it...
