Nairaland / General / Walgreens Solves In-store Issues With Smartphone Applications by benshaw32(m): 1:13pm On Jan 17, 2023
It's safe to say that Walgreens serves the whole of the United States. Three out of every four Americans live within five miles of a drugstore belonging to the business.

TURNING TO DIGITAL
That's why Walgreens is turning to digital, as do many other retailers, to enhance the in-store experience and boost sales. The pharmacy's digital approach is on making things easier for customers. This is evident in the pharmacy's app on Walgreens application, which allows users to search for items in-store, save coupons for later use, and even complete prescriptions with just a few clicks.

MOBILE APPLICATIONS
AppAnnie, a service that ranks mobile applications, has routinely placed Walgreens' app in the top 10 lifestyle apps available for both iOS and Google Play. However, Walgreens does not provide the number of people that use the app. Discount codes available to avail discount on Walgreens $5 off 15.
"Offline and online have merged in the eyes of customers," said Adam Crouch, head of digital commerce product management at Walgreens application.

DIGITAL DNA
They have a group whose only purpose is to give the store its "digital DNA," he added. Crouch said that convenience is Walgreens' top priority, and that the firm can respond more quickly to customer feedback by adopting a digital approach, which is especially helpful for the app.

OMNI CHANNEL
The goal of Walgreens' Omni channel digital strategy is to improve and simplify the purchasing experience for both in-store and online consumers. The method is as follows.

PROMOTIONAL OFFERS AIMED AT LURING SHOPPERS
According to Crouch, the ability to use a mobile device even while not at a shop might entice people to visit such stores. They are enhancing the in-store experience for customers before they ever enter the store by emphasizing product knowledge and inventories and in-app, customizable shopping lists.

SENIOR DIRECTOR
Joe Lazslo, senior director of the Interactive Advertising Bureau's (IAB) Mobile Marketing Center of Excellence, says that brick-and-mortar companies can't afford to ignore the fact that all customers nowadays have smartphones and are less loyal to certain brands and stores than they formerly were.
Lazslo said that a strong mobile presence was crucial to retaining customers' interest in a certain retailer's brand and preventing them from going elsewhere online.

APP RECORDS
Shoppers are encouraged to frequent the establishment since the app records their nutritional and lifestyle habits. Users may earn rewards for their physical activity by connecting their Walgreens rewards card to their Fitbit or another fitness tracker, such as Run Keeper.
For example, a three-mile run recorded on the app will earn you rewards points redeemable at Walgreens. According to Huge's senior interface designer, Natalie Be'er, "it fosters an awareness that they are concerned in their clients and keeping them well." "It's warm and fuzzy, and it encourages repeat business at the shop."

FACILITATING CONSUMERS' QUICK EXIT FROM THE ESTABLISHMENT
The goal of Walgreens application is to get consumers in and out as soon as possible, in contrast to the goals of certain other retailers who are attempting to find out how to have customers spend more time in their shops.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
Crouch has said that the group is using digital technologies to remove bottlenecks at the checkout counter. As an early user of Apple Pay, Walgreens has made it possible for customers to redeem digital coupons without having to print them out.
Quickly pay for your purchases with the automated deduction of savings when you scan your coupons. According to Be'er, "they are self-aware of where they sit in the day and lifestyle of their clients." It's amazing that you guys aren't pretending to be something you're not.

EXCERSICE CAUTION
According to Be'er, merchants need to exercise caution with a feature that allows consumers to search for store merchandise on Walgreens application, map the layout for convenient access, and get information about special deals while they are physically present in the store.
She said that the feature "functions because you've opted it" if you already have the app and are getting in-store alerts. When Walgreens pings you because you just went past, things might become tense. Constant proximity to our electronic gadgets necessitates vigilance.

STRENGTHENING THE PHARMACIST'S TOOLS
Pharmacy is at the heart of Walgreens application strategy. The company's goal is to employ technology to make interactions more personal, such as by allowing customers to renew prescriptions through their phones and receiving automated reminders to take their medications.
"We want to make the pharmacist more than just someone who fills prescriptions," Crouch said.

PHARMACIST QUESTIONS
You may ask a pharmacist any questions you have regarding your prescription by using the Walgreens app's Pharmacy Chat messaging tool. In December, the firm expanded that offering with the debut of its "telehealth" platform in partnership with MDLive, allowing patients who lack convenient access to healthcare providers to instead have virtual appointments with doctors.
According to Be'er, the app's features were inspired by real requests from users. Walgreens is employing cutting-edge technology to solve some of the most intractable problems in the pharmaceutical industry. "They have the client in mind."

PHARMACY MARKET
To adapt to the dynamic pharmacy market, Walgreens Boots Alliance is launching the automated, centralized hubs. Due to the epidemic, it is even more important for the drugstore chain to maintain its relevance in the face of competition from online pharmacies on Walgreens application and the growing trend of home delivery of consumer goods like toilet paper and toothpaste.
Pharmacists are in high demand because of the global health crisis; hospitals and pharmacies need them to give Covid vaccinations and testing.

STARBUCKS
Roz Brewer, formerly the head of operations at Starbucks, has been appointed CEO of Walgreens, and she plans to use health care as a "growth engine." Village, a primary care provider, and IA, an automation technology firm for pharmacies and healthcare, were both purchased for their contributions to the development of these nodes. It is considering selling its Boots business in the United Kingdom.
