Sports / B]dolphins Through To Fourth Fa Cup Final[/b] by betos(m): 8:05pm On Jul 29, 2007
Champions, Dolphins FC rode on the backs of Sharks FC to qualify for their fourth FA Cup final in six years.

The win sets up a repeat of the 2004 final between Dolphins and Rangers that Dolphins won by a lone goal.

Former Sharks attacker, Idowu Olaiya drew first blood in the 8th minute getting to the end of an Owazuoke Wobo pull out.

Thankgod Amaefule freed Wobo on the right and his pull out missed all Sharks' legs, falling at the feet of Olaiya in the six-yard box and he coolly tucked in behind Udo Ochiogu in goal for Sharks.

Despite the goal, there was not much excitement on the pitch as players of both sides seemed only interested in kicking the balls out of their area leaving the fans with little to cheer.

Friday Ibeji however came close in the 22nd second minute in a goalmouth scramble off a corner kick but he shot wide.

However ten minutes later, a mix up between Samaila Suleiman and Emma Godwin gave Captain Ejindu a gift of a goal.

Both went to head the ball and missed leaving Ejindu facing Chijioke Ejiogu. He almost fumbled it but eventually managed to get it past the goal line for the equalizer.

In the second half, Stanley Eguma took of an under performing Salisu for Darlington Ihejiene but his game plan was destroyed when Darlington injured himself in a challenge two minutes after going in.

Five minutes after the restart, Jacob Akhionbare should have scored off a corner when Ochiogu flapped on the ball but he headed wide.

With just fifteen minutes to go, Jonah Abutu jumped higher than his marker to head home an Endurance Alaboru pull out to put Sharks ahead.

With the Dolphins' defence seeming in disarray, Emma Nwachi had a chance to put the game beyond reach. He found himself alone against Ejoigu and tried to chip him but Ejiogu miraculously stopped the ball in mid air with half the fans at the stadium thinking it had gone in.

One minute after that save Bola Bello equalized and the game dragged on into penalty shoot-out.

Owazuoke Wobo, Bola Bello, Oluwole Johnson and Emma Godwin all scored for Dolphins whereas Gift Ibibo blasted wide while Chinedu Nzewi played into the hands of Ejiogu.

Dolphins: Chijioke Ejiogu, Thankgod Amaefule, Joe Eyimofe, Oluwole Johnson, Emma Godwin, Samaila Suleiman, Idowu Olaiya, Jacob Akhionbare/ Victor Ezeji 57 th, Owazuoke Wobo, Victor Babayaro, Bola Bello

Romance / Re: Is It Safe To Tell A Man "I Love You"? by betos(m): 7:27pm On Jul 29, 2007
Wow, everyone has such interesting views on this (I knew I could trust Nairaland users to be real), But what if the girl who is saying this has never said it to anyone else? What if she has tried her best not to feel this but it is just too overwhelming and scary? What if she has not even slept with the man? what if she has not even asked or accepted a thing from him? and the man on the other hand shows love w/o saying the words, as Suze had pointed out (thanks girl  )

You see people, The word "love" has been used out of context in so many ways. Mistaken for lust. So much so that when a man has experienced hurt in the past, he won't even be able to recognize true love when it does come. This is a food for the thoughts of those who are interested. Stayed tuned for part 2 of this post.

yes, love is one word that has been so misused, so say it when u mean it, else, don't bother.when love hits you, yes it is overwhelming, but far from being scary,  everything is perfect, even the sun would through the cloudy sky. pray u find this out . chao

my dear, those words coming from the one you love, is the greatest kick a man can get, i never fail to tell my fiancee how much i love her and that she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. The result: i;m so well loved, what you give is what you get.

Mr Akolawole, you have in me another, a true blue at heart, only that my allegiance pre dates the abrahamovic Russian revolution. Having said that, commendations sir for this innovation, all hail, by the end of the coming season we would all revel in the euphoria, champions of europe at last. Blue 4 life.

Politics / So Much For Civilisation by betos(m): 12:02pm On Jun 28, 2007
What has happened to the age old traditional Nigerian hospitality and love for our neighbor? Permit my asking, where and why did we we get it all wrong? Pardon me, but a careful look around our society today shows something rather UN-Nigerian, and value system that is warped. So much for civilization.
