Politics / Re: Nigeria Spends 86% Of Revenue On Debt Servicing, South Africa Pays 20% by Bidphil(m): 10:08am On May 16, 2022

https://punchng.com/nigeria-spends-86-of-revenue-on-debt-servicing-south-africa-pays-20/

It seems as though Nigerian politicians believe Nigeria will get another debt forgiveness or they don't just care. Because how can you be servicing debt with 85.5% of your income. Servicing not even paying back

Politics / Re: What Is Your Opinion About The Nigeria Land Border Closure? by Bidphil(m): 5:55pm On Oct 23, 2019
theenchanter:
the funniest thing is that Nigeria has done all the bolded, there's no ban on rice importation, forex for it is only restricted and import duty was increased, that's d reason people smuggle it more on the land border than through d seaport.

Love your response, however, I believe it's not a bright idea. We could have allowed market competition to take place and invest more in Agriculture rather than an outright ban. The move is short-sighted. Let me break it down.

We currently do not have the capacity to meet the demand for rice. In marketing, the audience decides which products to consume or not but you can always tilt them to your side if you're wise. It's an open secret that most of our political leaders do not patronise our locally made products, you can't compel people to eat what they do not love, in the end, they'll become rebellious and you'll lose.
The quality of our rice is currently not a match to those imported ones.
Looking at the employment aspect, we're losing because so many people trade with landlock countries using the land borders. We definitely can't make unemployment become worse.

The fact that smugglers are using our porous land borders is a testament that our custom officers are incompetent.

If FG is passionate about improving local productivity, we would rather be creating an enabling environment for investors. But Herdsmen and kidnappers would chase them away.
Politics / Re: What Is Your Opinion About The Nigeria Land Border Closure? by Bidphil(m): 11:03am On Oct 23, 2019
I see several people reasoning like VP Yemi Osinbajo on this platform. They prefer to close their shop, sit down and start monitoring their shop to see how the thief would steal from their shop again.

The World has gone past that. We'll lose a lot of money and be at the detrimental end if we continue with this policy. We should be looking at maximising our competitive edge rather than closing our land border.

FG could have increased import duties, patronise locally made product themselves to encourage citizens, give loans and tax breaks to farmers and watch how the story changes but mba, we think the closing of land borders is the best way to go. We're practically shutting the door against investors.

the Border should remain closed so that we won't have anything to Bother.

since some people already have their blood burried in smuggling, and they don't want to follow the legitimate path to importation.
shebi dem no wan get sense ni, sense dey come soon.

That's why we have custom and we pay them. What are they getting paid for if they cannot secure our borders?

in the past 3 months have you heard of any herdsmen attack I think what Fg is doing now is good if You guys can praise Trump for building Mexico Wall why not praise this government

Trump building wall is different from this border closure policy. Trump building wall is about shutting the door against illegal immigrants. If it was Trump that is in Buhari's seat, he probably would be doing what he is doing to China. Have you heard of multiple streams of income before?

I'll suggest that you think about this border closure like an entrepreneur or like a capitalist probably you'll see what I'm saying sir/ma

I look at sustainability of any policy and this is not sustainable ...can we close our borders for 5 years or 10 years or 25 years

Buhari like most Nigerians like treating the symptoms not root cause

The problem is we import foreign rice

Root cuase
1) our local grains are short Nigerians prefer longer grain
2) our yield are small average 1 ton per hectare while Thailand is 10ton per hectare
3) we have evil birds that can eat up ur farm in few days ...eat everything

Closing border is like forcing ur child to listen to radio because he goes to the next compound to watch TV which he love .

My solutions
1) we need to develop our seeds ...Jonathan government did a lot on this regard don't know why they were not continued ...we need to develop long grains

2) develop grains that yeild between 6 to 10 tons per hectare ...n can be planted 2 to 3 times a year

3) give loans to major rice farmers already to expand

4 ) develop ways to handle those evil birds ...we can learn from iseral

Create rice farming villages

Place 50% import duty on rice imported use the money to fund the above

In 5 years we can achieve full sufficiency then u can ban import

Finally, I found someone with economic knowledge. FG could have increased import duties and have a multiple stream of earning money but mba, they are short-sighted.

Btw, are you on twitter, I'll love to follow you there.

You're absolutely right! Thank God he played him tonight o. This guy is our new Messi and Okocha. You can be sure he will perform wonders with the ball in his legs. He doesn't disappoint! It's been over 15yrs we last had a playmaker in the SE. I pray Chukwueze doesn't fall into the hands of the wrong coach like Mikel, and I pray he keeps working hard and not relent. He will be a world star in the nearest future!

I look forward to this coach using Onyekuru, even if it's for 20mins.

I'm OK with this team without Mikel! I pray they don't use him throughout o or else, you will see the loopholes. This team is getting balanced for me now; two good wingers Musa and Chukwueze, good midfield, Iwobi and Ndidi, and others. They are very complete now. And I can see the communication and understanding between them getting better. This guys will still surprise the world if our coach doesn't go political.

He should just play onyekuru, I don't know why he keeps benching him. Ighalo was not in today's match and that was obvious.

This Ruga matter is a disaster waiting to happen cos it will only end up creating more fights

FG could have found a more subtle way to end the farmer and herdmen crisis instead of this suspicious scheme

This is my exact stand. It is also not sustainable in the long run because, in the end, we may find ourselves in the same scenario as we are experiencing with IDP camp. Cattle rearing is a private business, why FG is so interested in using a public fund to appease a certain tribe or business group is what beats my imagination.

The man that wore agbada as a football coach on the sideline. He so much analyzed and critisized games and coaches respectively that NFA thought he knew it all. The job was taken from Amodu who took us through the qualifying and given to him. He ended being the worst and that was how he went underground till date.

Hhhhmmm, I am touched. I stopped going to church for a while now because i see no reason to. Prosperity gospel has destroyed my spirituality and I am seriously looking for a good church to start attending again. The last time i felt spiritual was when I was in NIFES way back in school, township churches are a no-no for me now because there is nothing to hear than sowing seeds. I feel empty and sometimes more burdened when I go to church so I stopped. Reading this article alone has lifted my spirit because I v seen that their are still people out there who see what I see. God bless the writer.i am at home and will pray for the Holy Spirit to help me because already I v received my sermon for the day.

Where is your location? I recommend any Baptist Church for you. If you're in Ogbomosho, I recommend Fountain of Praise and Power Baptist Church.
